From Pain to Purpose
From Pain to Purpose
"Pain is a part of life. Suffering is an option." Tony Robbins
Pain takes many forms, and its presence is a stark reminder of how life can hurt, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Pain is powerful, visceral, and at times, all encompassing, however, it has a few glaring weaknesses that you can exploit. Excluding rare and unfortunate circumstances where chronic, physical pain endures, the vast majority of our physical pain dissipates quickly over time. Furthermore, the scars that form, the broken bones that mend, thicken our skin and become more dense at the breaking point once healed.
"The pain you feel today, will be the strength you feel tomorrow."
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Mental and emotional anguish, which is often more painful, passes in time, and the amount necessary, is entirely up to you. In addition to being temporary, pain is malleable and can be reshaped into purpose and power with the right mindset. Think about a mother who loses their child to a rare disease, and turns their pain into purpose, in the pursuit of a cure and greater awareness for other families who are or will face similar circumstances. Think about the student who struggled through school and became a teacher to help students overcome the hardships they once faced. Picture the father who lost his job and stopped at nothing to build up his career and provide for his kids, and show them that giving up, is not an option.
The purpose of this article is to not dispute the presence pain has in our lives; it is to discuss the power you have to minimize its impact and reshape it into something meaningful. Suffering is when we allow the pain we feel to linger, to endure longer than necessary, and as Tony Robbins alluded to in his quote above, allow it to be an option moving forward. Often, we wear our pain as a badge of honor, a reminder of what we have endured, but in doing so, we don't allow ourselves to heal or make peace with the source. I challenge you to face your pain, process it, and use it to strengthen your resolve. Channel your pain into positive change in your life, and let it be a constant reminder of your resilience, and a driving force for moving forwards, no matter the circumstances.
In many ways, pain is similar to the irrational worries and limiting beliefs we carry within us that dim our shine and impede our progress in life. I have learned through experience that pain can be a powerful source of inspiration, a spark for change, a call to arms, to fight for what you want in life. Pain is inevitable, but with the right mindset, you can view it as a means to sharpen your focus, harden your resolve, and an experience that you can learn and grow from. Do not let your pain, turn into unnecessary suffering. I challenge you to make a stand, and make your pain be the foundation that you build your empire upon.
I hope you enjoyed this post, and as always, take care, God bless, and be well.
