do you think it's weird or unfounded to not want to use chat gpt due to the environmental cost? i feel really strongly that i want to completely avoid it (and, like, recreational/work related ai in general) for that reason, but people seem to think this is really weird when i express that as a reason. but i feel like i should be able to make this call if i want to and that's a good reason to not use it. i don't know?!?!?! i don't get anything anymore?!?!?!

I know that most takes about people not deserving to have children are rife with eugenics (eg: poor people shouldn't have kids, mentally ill people shouldn't have kids, etc) but that said, nobody is ever entitled to having children, like having kids isn't a human right that must be obeyed, a kid is not a thing to own but a vulnerable life that you're responsible for and who actually has human rights that you're ignoring by putting yourself and your desire first rather than your reality and situation

#and sure money is a huge aspect but mostly its having a social network that supports you through parenthood bc you might not be well off but #if you have a family thats with you and you try your danmest hard to give the best you can for them theyre going to be happy and healthy #but then again each case scenario is its own theres no set recipe and parents with lots of resources continuously fuck up their kids #if you're all alone in this world and you decide to have a kid to cover it up then your kid is also going to be all alone in this world #boluda tag

i think the thing for me and the thing that's actually bothering me the most in general is that i don't think any show in 911's category that i've ever watched (that is: network tv shows that run on a weekly basis for most of the year with no definitive or planned ending until cancellation) has gotten better after killing off a main character

#in a highly planned intricately written series with a definitive ending???#sure have at it!!!#there are plenty of shows i've watched where the character death is essential #but on network tv #it's such a stupid fucking excuse #we have to raise the stakes/shake things up!!!#we have to be realistic!!!#it keeps things interesting!!!!#that's not true actually ❤️#the oc didn't get better when they killed marissa #teen wolf didn't get better when they killed allison #how to get away with murder didn't get better when they killed wes #reign didn't get better when they killed francis (and all the other subsequent main characters afterwards)#the 100 didn't get better when they started killing mains #jfc even some of the deaths on game of thrones the 'we kill main characters' show completely fucked them over #the closest example i can think of is keith's death in one tree hill and i wouldn't even say the show got better #but at least they made his death mean something afterwards #and yes the season's not over and yes they could still pull it off but it doesn't matter #because this *will* affect the quality of the show and it didn't need to!!!!!#8x16 alone already shows they're struggling to balance the tone now #which is why i think so much of it felt like nothing #anyway i'm going to shut up now please don't try to rationalise it to me i don't care it is a stupid decision <3 #911 related #fandom discourse #not really but just y'know for the blacklists #i'll tag #negativity #too just in case

to me, tim and duke occupy a similar position in the batfamily where they're clearly not (or previously weren't, in tim's case) bruce's sons but also clearly have a connection to bruce's children that separates them from barb, steph, helena, jean paul, etc. none of the latter three are dick's siblings, but tim nearly always has been, and then he's cass' too. even if he hadn't been adopted, this would be true. duke is jason's brother, and is implied to have a sibling relationship with cass and damian, and has even shown up in tim's picture of his brothers. this is not changed by the fact that duke should never be adopted.

#you could say jpv and cass have that sibling bond but i saw them as friends who understand each other very closely unlike babs and jpv #who explicity made their relationship brother/sister adjacent #and also tim is helena's little brother but i think we all agree that it doesnt change dick and helena's relationship #it's not exactly...necessary for there to be this group of people who occupy this overlapping network of being siblings but it does happen #to exist this time. even if that doesn't overlap with the people who consider bruce a father #it's just one of the many subgroups that exist within the batfamily itself and i wanted to define it for the purposes of my posts #extra disclaimer in case it isn't clear: i'm not using familial relationships vs non familial relationships to create a hierarchy #i don't think all of the sibling(esque) relationships are inherently stronger than the non familial ones. i'm just defining them based on #the more dictionary definition of sibling (< also why im not talking abt found family. it's just not my point rn)

Thinking of the Nie disciple that told Nie Mingjue it was Meng Yao who stayed behind to clean up corpses on the battlefield today.

Nie Mingjue didn't just randomly stumble upon poor lil meowyao eating bread in the novel, he was already looking for him to thank and reward him for his work.

That's what makes it so fun that nieyao's first conflict will end up being about someone else taking credit for Meng Yao's work.

And I'm sure that Nie Mingjue's actual opinions on plagiarism are a lot more nuanced, all we really get from him in this scene is "well you shouldn't kill someone over it!" which leaves a lot of room for what punishments he thinks are appropiate. But I bet that it isn't occuring to him in this moment that the only reason he knows Meng Yao at all, the only reason he got such a capable deputy, is that he noticed someone was taking care of the dead and cared enough to want to know their name. And then the Nie disciples didn't lie to him. The disciple he asked could have said "it was me, Zongzhu" to rise in the ranks himself, but he didn't. He went and asked others, who all also could have taken the credit, but they didn't. Someone saw Meng Yao working and decided to be honest about it and that simple decision is the catalyst for Meng Yao becoming Nie Mingjue's deputy.

Meng Yao can't just work hard to get results, others have to acknowledge that work. If they don't, it's as if he didn't do anything at all.
