Who's ready for our 5th year of the Ninjago valentine-white day exchange event :D This year, artists will be going first!

Sign-ups for the 2025 event are now open, and will close Jan 10, 2025 so be sure to sign up before then!

This year's schedule:

Dec 2024: Sign ups open.

January 10, 2025 at 11:59 pm PST: Sign-ups close.

Jan 14, 2025: Last day to drop out.

Jan 12-16, 2025: Results sent out. Artists will get notified and can start. Writers will get notified of which ship pairing they got but not who their artist is.

Jan 17, 2024 at 11:59 pm PST: Last day for confirmations. 

Jan 31, 2024: CHECKPOINT FOR ARTISTS.

Feb 14-20, 2024: Artists post their art AND writers get informed of which artwork they are writing for.

Feb 28, 2024: CHECKPOINTS FOR WRITERS.

March 14-20, 2024: Writers post their fics.

Welcome to the Zine of Elements!

Zine Information Doc || FaQ || Updates || Pinch hitter form

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Zine of Elements! This fanzine project is centered around celebrating the LEGO Ninjago TV series’ various lesser-appreciated elemental masters through fanfiction and fanart.

Applications for the project are currently CLOSED, and the zine is in creation phase. Follow this blog and read on for more information!

What is the Zine of Elements?

The Zine of Elements (ZoE) is a free, digital SFW fanzine hosted by @21st-century-ninja (Fabro) and @curiositythecryptid (Lis). Over the course of three months, 18 artists and 5 writers will work together to bring the background elemental masters to life!

The ZoE is a canon-focused zine, which means that contributors will be asked to create works that fall beneath the canon umbrella (see the Zine Doc for more details). While the ninja are allowed to be background characters in any works created, they cannot be the subject matter, as this is a zine dedicated to the lesser-seen elemental masters.

Who can apply?

Anyone, regardless of age or skill, is welcome to apply for the ZoE. You must be able to use Discord to communicate, and you must be able to speak either English, Spanish, or Portuguese.

What does the schedule look like?

Applications: Nov 24, 2024 to Dec 14, 2024 Application results: by Dec 28, 2024 Creation period: Dec 28, 2024 to March 22, 2025 (12 weeks) Pitches due: Jan 11, 2025 Check in 1: Feb 1, 2025 Final dropout date: March 1, 2025 Check in 2: March 1, 2025 Due date: March 22, 2025 Zine publishing date: Mid April 2025, TBD

I'm excited to apply! How do I do that?

In just three weeks, writer and artist applications will open via Google Form! In the meantime, though, you can be prepping your portfolios. Artists will be required to provide at least three pieces, at least one of them that must be Ninjago-focused, and writers will be required to provide three writing samples, at least one of which must be Ninjago-focused and under 2,000 words.

Ninjago Oc Secret Santa 2024

Alrighty folks, the time has come to sign up for the 2024 Ninjago Oc Secret Santa! Please read the information provided in the description of the forms; additional information will be provided upon receiving your assignment.

As of the forms being released, you will have until November 3rd to fill your form out.

Expect to receive your assignments within the week after the form closes. After receiving your assignment you will have until December 23rd to January 7th to finish you piece, with a late period extending from January 8th to January 14th.

Do not post your piece until the designated posting days.

There’s no rule against signing up for both sections; however I do ask you to consider the time provided and how long it will take you to finish a piece.

Important Google Form Info: I am using google forms for this event; unfortunately, in order to allow documents to be submitted, the forms have to require participants to sign in with an email.

The forms are still entirely anonymous however; they are not permitted to collect your email (meaning: I can’t see it! It is still entirely private).

I’ll be tagging some people who showed interest; if for whatever reason you are unable to sign up or no longer have an interest in signing up that is fine.

We received a question! Thank you for your interest! This sounds like such a fun idea! Also how would the gifts be exchanged? Would we make a post on Tumbr (if they have one) and @ them on it :) During the sign-up forms we will include a link to a public Discord server where all the main communication will happen (if you don't have a Discord, we advise making one). Where you post your gift is up to you, as long as it is accessible to your giftee. But we do encourage you to send your gift privately to your giftee first (through Discord DMs or social media) and then post it, if you want, publicly on the preferred platform. If you want to stay anonymous, you will have an option of sending your entry to one of the mods and we will deliver your gift for you :) That being said, we will include space to leave your preference for gift exchange options in the sign-up form.

Ninjago Oc Secret Santa 2024

What is a Secret Santa? - A Secret Santa is a gift giving event; you’ll be assigned someone to secretly make a gift for, and someone will make a gift for you. - It’s very important that no one knows that you are making them a gift and vice versa, that you don’t know who is making you a gift! Are there any rules? - Absolutely no N/S/F/W or Suggestive content is permitted for prompts, gifts, or references. This is /not/ an 18+ event. - No direct contact with the person you’re making a gift for; you can communicate through me or ask through anon on tumblr if you can. - No AI art/writing, Gacha edits, face claims, picrews, or bases will be permitted for oc reference submissions or gifts. - Oc x Canon and Oc x Oc ships are 100% allowed. - Fankids, sonas, and self inserts are also allowed; my only rule is that fankids of Lloyd x Canon ships are not permitted. - Please respect requests regarding holiday or seasonal preferences when making a gift. Don’t depict an oc participating in a holiday or seasonal activity that the creator asked not be depicted.

- For the art portion, you must draw the character(s) you were assigned and they must be visible (feel free to ask for clarification) How many ocs can be submitted total? - At least one oc is required, but up to three can be submitted ^^ What will I need for sign ups? - Refs or art that show a clear, colored depiction of your oc. - OR at least two pieces of writing for said oc (does not need to be a whole fic. Could easily just be a quick blurb showing how they’re written as a character) - Basic Information/Fun Facts about your character. This can be background information, relationships, likes/dislikes, age and height, personality, etc. - Suggestions or prompts for your gift giver. Stuff to help get their brain going. - Your blog name (not the name you go by online but the url name. Like @/Ninjago-Oc-Appreciation. Make sure it’s a tumblr url, and not from any other social media) What’s the general timeline for this event? - Sign ups will officially begin near the end of October, around the week of Halloween. - Assignments will be within the first couple of weeks of November. - You will have until December 23rd to January 7th to finish your piece. These will be the designated posting days. - January 8th to 14th will be the designated late week. How do I sign up? - In Late October, I’ll post a google form where you can submit your oc(s)! There will be one for writing and one for art! - Please reach out to me in someway after signing up. This can be through messages, asks, comments, etc. In the past we’ve had issues with the forms, where they’d “eat’ a submission, and I’d like to know when to check to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Additional Notes: - This will likely be the last year I host the writing portion of the event, unless a significant amount of people show interest. Last event we only had one person sign up, and the one before that we just barely got two. - Google forms does require an email in order to make submissions with images and documents, a necessary part of the sign up process. The process is entirely private on your end, so I will not be seeing the emails used. - We’ll be using #NOSS2024 and #SecretNinja2024 as tags for this event! That’s all!
