One of 100 limited edition 1985 N12 Nissan Exa / Pulsar NX convertibles. Only a carby motor but you could put the turbo motor in if so inclined. Wheels would appear to be Heroes Racing CX Mesh without the optional Aero covers. I have posted up pics of one of the other in the 100 already on here some time back.

Today’s car - a lightly restored 1984 Nissan Pulsar NX - was submitted by @igcarclub. The regular Pulsars were more widely known outside of North America, but it had two NA predecessors - the 1970s F-10 and the 1979-82 310. In the fall of 1982 the old 310 was replaced by N12 Pulsar worldwide - though the names were different for different models/markets. - The 310 had occupied a slot above Datsun’s smallest U.S. offering, the 210, and for much of its life, it had been Datsun’s only U.S. front-driver. But in the spring of 1982 the rear-drive 210 was replaced by the fwd Sentra. When the N12 Pulsar arrived months later it was much closer in size and scope to the Sentra than the 310 had been to the 210; many components were shared between the two. Nissan was also in the process of rebranding, and ads said to ‘ask about the Nissan Pulsar at your Datsun store.” - Offered at first as a 3- and 5-door hatch and the angular NX coupe, the regular Pulsars lasted just one year in the U.S. But the Coupe, which looked wildly different but retained the underpinnings, continued into 1986. In #Japan, the coupe was called the #PulsarEXA and, as with the names, there were many more variations in the #JDM, including a convertible. - The Wedge-shaped NX looked like no previous #Nissan - it looked a lot more like a Fiat X1/9, but taller. The tall proportions reflected the use of the regular Pulsar’s cowl, windshield, and mechanical pieces under the hood - hard to change without major costs. Similarly, the mechanical pieces of the car were the same as those of the regular Pulsars - in the U.S. that meant only one engine in 1983 - the 69-hp E16 1.6L four shared with the Sentra. Fractionally larger than the other Pulsars, the NX was actually the heaviest one - but it still only weighed 2000 lbs. - The #NXPulsar got one hot version - in 1984, the 1.5L E15 Turbo with 100hp was optional, but the engine was not continued in 1985. Fundamentally these were economy cars, which tend to get thrown away - although they have a small but dedicated following. The wedge EXA was replaced in 1987 by the equally different N13 EXA/Pulsar NX which was styled by Nissan Design Int’l in California https://www.instagram.com/p/BtD8v4Klyi-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=lbiab35fpg7e

The Nissan EXA Sportbak Is The 'Convertible' Shooting Brake You Forgot
The Pulsar NX/EXA had an unusual 'modular' design allowing one car to have multiple body styles, but the setup wasn't without its flaws

Nissan EXA, 1986. The N13 series EXA (sold as the Pulsar NX in the US) offered a modular rear sections giving owners the choice of a coupe, open convertible or sport wagon depending on which rear section was fitted. The design was developed at Nissan Design International in San Diego (now Nissan Design America) under the direction of Jerry Hirshbergf
