Amergency Act 19 (긴급조치 19호)

It is a satirical 2002 South Korean film about a government act that prohibits popular music and passed in response to a number of musicians being elected to government elsewhere in the world. It is notable for the numerous K-pop stars that make appearances in the film.

Plot:

Troubled by the growing worldwide trend of pop singers being elected as politicians, the President of South Korea orders his Chief Secretary to invoke "Emergency Act 19". This new law criminalizes all pop singers, and the army is deployed on the streets of Seoul to round them up. One pop star, Hong Kyung-min, is arrested while performing a concert, but his angry fans mob the soldiers as they try to take him away. The Chief Secretary's teenage daughter, Min-ji, is amongst the fans, and leading her idol to safety gives him her phone number. Kyung-min finally makes a getaway with his friend and fellow pop star, Kim Jang-hoon.

Once Jang-hoon and Kyung-min become fully aware of the situation, they contact Min-ji, who is able to hide the two singers in a secret location. The Chief Secretary finds out that his daughter is working against him, and when she refuses to give them up, he has false news reports created, accusing the singers of sexually assaulting minors. Meanwhile, more pop stars are rounded up by the authorities who are now aided by another singer, Ju Yeong-hun, who decides to betray his friends in order to save himself.

Angered by their tarnished reputations, Jang-hoon and Kyung-min acquire a gun from a shady weapons dealer, and with Min-ji's help they are able to take the Chief Secretary and his staff hostage. They take their captives to the park, where Min-ji has organized a mass demonstration with her friends and other music fans. The army arrive on the scene and engage the demonstrators in conflict, finally capturing Jang-hoon and Kyung-min. The Chief Secretary is able to walk free in all the chaos, but he is appalled by the violence and orders the fighting to stop, convincing the President to repeal the emergency act and restoring peace.

I couldn't find this movie with subs anywhere. I usually watch kdramas but found it on YouTube in 2 parts without eng subs.

If anyone knows where I could watch this movie fully with eng subs would be very helpful.

This movie is based on events that happened in South Korea during the 1970s and 1980s with censorship during the Park Chung Hee Presidency (1961-1979) and Chun Doo Hwan Presidency (1980-1988).

Let me start by saying that to whoever gets the chance to read this, please don't hate me. We can have discussions about it but for the most part, these are just rants. Rants that I believe are reasonable for the show.

As much as I did like Uncontrollably Fond, I have so many issues about it. Even with the ending, everything that they had to do and everything that they ever did was reasonable and justifyable. But I have a lot of whys.

All of this could've been avoided if all of them were just honest to each other and plotted together

The only likeable characters are the extras and the supposedly "bad" guys

Choi Ji Tae deserves everything good. He was never rude to Noh Eul or used her in any way and was, for the most part, supportive of her and her brother. He was actually there for them. Unpopular opinion: he deserves Noh Eul

Yes, Choi Ji Tae lied about his identity and deceived the two but it was never for his benefit. He even recognized he wasn't worthy of Noh Eul's love because of his father

BRUH WHO THE FUCK NAMES SOMEONE THEIR "HUSBAND" BUT THEN GET REJECTED AND JUST FALLS IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE THE VERY NEXT DAY. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

Also with the fact that Shin Joon Young made it extra difficult for her in the first parts of the drama?? Like really you fell in love with what exactly

The only secondary couple I will recognize is Jeong Sik and Young Ok

No, I do not like Ha Ru and Noh Jik like wtf my guy she was annoying and possessive how THE FUCK did you fall in love w that AND HOW QUICKLY?? WHAT

In the beginning, I even liked Congressman Hyun Woo because he just didn't know shit you know?? Like it isn't his fault he doesn't know

Jeong Eun, her father, and Ji Tae's mother can kiss my ass. They deserve hell

Na Ri is the love of my life. I want one friend like her please

I just wanna repeat that it doesn't make sense that Noh Eul fell in love with Shin Joon Young that quick, especially for how much of a pain in the ass he was

Crucify me for saying this but I don't care that he was dying, he had no right to be an asshole- to Noh Eul, to Gook Young, to the president of his agency, no one

Everyone was so dramatic by the end. My guy was dying and no one wanted to see him because it makes them emotional like what 😭

Noh Eul and Joon Young were even toxic for one another by the end. Imagine telling someone who's dying that you want to die too. This isn't about you my god

Imagine also inconviencing doctors and telling them to kill the patient??? MY HOMIES ARE WE GOOD

I still cried. Drama had me BAWLING

I love you Bae Suzy and Kim Woo Bin but you guys' characters really annoyed me. How he basically inconvienced her life in the beginning with agreeing then disagreeing to do the documentary, by interfering with her brother and with Choi Ji Tae, and by all around being confusing. How she was so persistent with her feelings even for how she was already rejected so many times, how she kept annoying Young Ok, how she was so all over the place and was disturbing everyone.

Basically: the characters I actually rooted for in this drama aren't the leads and aren't even the protagonists. I was feeling for everyone but understood more about the "bad" guys' intentions than the leads'.

I don't know. I really liked it but there were more annoying moments than moments that you appreciate everyone. I really just had to say all of these because I have no one to rant them to. So if ever you're a big fan and you read this, no harm done please. This is only my way of seeing things and how I understood what's going on. Alright, that is all.

Summary

People change but can the heart adapt? Sin Joon Young and No Eul were in love in their younger days. But uncontrollable circumstances separated them and they went their separate ways. Joon Young is now a superstar actor and singer, while No Eul became a producer-director of documentaries. When their paths cross again years later, Joon Young discovers that No Eul is now a very different person than he remembered — materialistic and willing to do anything to get ahead. Is there any hope for Joon Young and No Eul to rekindle their past relationship?

Review

As the name implies, you can’t stop liking this drama even though it will eventually leave you sobbing and devastated. This drama is a story of two teenagers, Noh Eul and Shin Joon-young, who meet each other in high school and then come across having multiple encounters with each other through the time since they were teenagers till becoming adults; working to fulfil their responsibilities. But every time they meet each other, their fate has a different plan for them. The genre of this drama is centered on romance and melodrama starring Kim Woo-bin, Bae Suzy, Lim Ju-hwan and Lim Ju-eun, packed in 20 episodes.

Plot

Shin Joon-young, played by Kim Woo-bin, lives with his mother and is unaware about his father’s identity. He just knows that his father left him and his mother. One day, he learns that his father is a famous prosecutor and has his own family. Joon-young’s mother always wanted him to become a prosecutor like his father, so he starts working hard academically even though he is not really good at it; which makes situation difficult for him and he ends up breaking-up with his girlfriend.

On the other hand, Noh Eul, played by Bae Suzy; is the best friend of Shin Joon-young’s girlfriend. After their breakup, Noh Eul confronts her best friend and tries to get back at Shin Joon-young and come across each other’s path for the first time. The character of Noh Eul is kind and full of life. She lives with her younger brother and her father who is a street food seller.

The story takes a turn when Noh Eul’s father dies in a car accident and the person who is responsible for that car accident is saved by bribing the prosecutor named Choi Hyun-joon. Noh Eul tries to meet prosecutor Choi Hyun-joon and asks him to reveal the truth, but he refuses to help. And since her father is no more, the loan sharks start reaching her out forcing Noh Eul to leave the city.

Few years later, Shin Joon-young is preparing for the entrance exam when he again meets Noh Eul. Meanwhile, Noh Eul gets some evidence that can reveal the truth of her father’s death so she calls prosecutor Choi Hyun-joon and asks him to come clean before she uncovers the truth by herself.

As Shin Joon-young hears the conversation, he tries to stop and interrupt her from meeting the prosecutor for his own reasons, but it leaves Noh Eul hurt fighting for her life in an accident. Feeling guilty about hurting Noh Eul and hiding secrets from her, he gives up on becoming a prosecutor. As fate brings them together again, this time Shin Joon-young meets Noh Eul as an actor and is approached by her for a documentary.

Apart from the lead characters, there are two more characters who play an important role in adding twists and new turns to their story; Choi Hyun-joon and his son, Choi Ji-tae. As the story progresses with Noh Eul’s attempts to catch her father’s murderer, she also comes across a shocking truth about Shin Joon-young that leaves her devastated. As they both fight their own battels, Shin Joon-young finds himself responsible for Noh Eul’s struggles.

He tries his best to fix situation so that he can end her sufferings. But, the future has something else in store for him. Years ago, for Noh Eul, Shin Joon-young made a deal and as fate comes across for both, it’s time for him to pay back.

Why you should watch it?

Whether they get back together or not, the climax of this drama is sure to leave a strong and long lasting impact on the viewer. The story of this drama is heart-breaking, so you can mentally prepare yourselves for lots of tears, but the beautiful end to this drama will also make you smile as you say goodbye to this heart-wrenching story. This drama does have certain moments that will tickle your funny bones, and some scenes will make you fall in love with the couple even more. This is one of the dramas where Kim Woo-bin’s acting as a lead has taken the spotlight; along with Bae Suzy’s perfect portrayal of Noh Eul.

함부로 애틋하게 / Uncontrollably Fond

Uncontrollably Fond is a 2016 South Korean melodrama/tragedy/romance drama starring Kim Woo Bin, Bae Suzy, Im Ju Eun and Im Joo Hwan.

Synopsis:

Shin Joon Yeong and Noh Eul were classmates during their teenage years, but were separated and became heartbroken. As adults they meet again, when Noh Eul, now a documentary producer, who values money over justice, is tasked to film the documentary of Shin Joon Yeong, who now is a famous actor and singer.

My Opinion:

After having seen Kim Woo Bin in The Heirs as the second male lead, I was really curious to see him as the first main character, which is why I decided to watch Uncontrollably Fond and I loved it. Kim Woo Bin once again proved himself to be an amazing actor. It suits him really well to play a bad ass role, but Shin Joon Yeong had so much more depth in his character that we were also able to see a softer, gentler and more emotional side of him. Especially those emotional parts made me cry so many tears. I swear, you can't prepare for the sadness in this drama.

This drama is stuffed with drama and when I say it is stuffed with drama then I mean there is a lot of drama, an extreme amount of drama. I understand, why people actually criticize this point, but you shouldn't expect less of it, when it is already called a melodrama. I have to admit, Noh Eul and Shin Joon Yeong’s behavior made me furious a lot, but since it is a melodrama, it just belongs in there. The chemistry between those two was pretty cute though, not special, but they were definitely a convincing couple.

The music of this drama is just amazing. They especially emphasized those emotional scenes really well. A Little Braver by New Empire is definitely the best song of this drama. I still have this song on repeat and it keeps on making me emotional.

Actor Performance: 9/10

Couple Chemistry: 7/10

Music: 10/10

Dinos Double Up Eagles To Take Series!

Eagles 5 Dinos 10 W-Wright (3-0) L-Kim (1-3)

The NC Dinos have been the story of the KBO in 2020. They entered today with a (13-3) record, a potent lineup, and the pitching staff has been decent. The offense did their job and Mike Wright ran with it this afternoon in Daegu. A pitcher’s duel broke out to start the game today. Shi-Hwan Jang and Mike Wright tossed up zeroes for the first three innings. The Dinos would get to work in the fourth inning though. Won-Jae Lee started it all with a lead-off single to center. With two outs, Min-Woo Park walked and Myung-Gi Lee hit a run-scoring single to center field. This put the Dinos on the board and Sung-Bum Na followed with a double to center that plated a pair. This capped off a three-run fourth for the Dinos. The Eagles manufactured a run in the fifth. Jared Hoying led-off with a double to left and went to third base on a sacrifice fly. Sung-Hoel Lee hit an RBI groundout to short and the Eagles were on the board. The Eagles continued to figure out Mike Wright in the sixth. Si-Hwan Noh started it with a one-out walk. Eun-Won Jung walked to bring up Yong-Kyu Lee. Lee drilled a Mike Wright fastball off the right field foul pole for a three-run home run. His first of the season put the Eagles up 4-3. The Dinos would rally in the bottom of the sixth. Tae-Goon Kim led-off and was hit by a pitch. Min-Wook Park walked and Sung-Bum Na delivered an RBI single to center. Suk-Min Park and Jin-Sung Kang each hit run-scoring single to right and the Dinos took a 6-4 lead after six frames. The Eagles inched closer in the seventh. Jin-Ho Jung led-off with a single and Sung-Yoel Lee lined a single to right. Kwang-Min Song hit a sacrifice fly to left that pulled the Eagles within a run. The Dinos continued to pile up runs in the bottom of the seventh. Won-Jae Lee led-off with a single and Tae-Goon Kim laid down a bunt. Ju-Hung Park had trouble picking up the ball and made a bad throw to first base. The Dinos now had runners in scoring position and Hee-Dong Kwon delivered a two-run double to center. Min-Woo Park bunted him over and Myung-Gi Lee hit a sacrifice fly to left field. The Dinos took a 9-5 lead and had one more run left in them in the eighth. Jin-Sung Kang blasted a Young-Myung Ahn offering out to left for a solo blast. NC took a 10-5 lead into the ninth inning and Hyun-Shik Jang had a scoreless inning of work to give the Dinos the series victory today.

-Final Thoughts- Shi-Hwan Jang looked good at times this afternoon for the Eagles. He threw five-plus innings and allowed four runs on six hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. He featured a low-90′s fastball with a change-up in the mid-80′s, and a curveball in the low-70′s. Mike Wright put together another solid outing. He went six innings and allowed four runs on two hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Jin-Sung Kang led the way for the Dinos with three hits and two RBI’s. Sung-Bum Na added two hits and three RBI’s. The Dinos didn’t have Eui-Ji Yang or Aaron Altherr starting and they still put up ten runs. That’s it for week three of the KBO. I can’t believe I’ve already worked eighteen games and learned a ton. There are no games tomorrow on Memorial Day. The next televised game is Tuesday when the Samsung Lions face the Lotte Giants. The Giants are the only team not to appear on ESPN so far. Dan Straily should get the nod for the Giants and I’m not sure who the Lions will throw out there.
