Roy’s wandering eventually leads him to the practice stands and he climbs his way to the highest seat. Three years out from his knee surgery and he’s rewarded with only a minor twinge in the joint by the time he reaches the top, and he settles into a seat in the shadows, looking out over the grounds.

With no one watching him here, he slouches back fully, propping one leg up on the seat in front of him and cradling his mug to his chest. The coffee is lukewarm at best now but it’s less about drinking the coffee, more about having something warm in his hands. About having something for his hands to do, other than make fists.

In the distance, he can see a two man night watch team making their rounds next to the practice pitch, or what’s left of it. Beard had suggested quite early on that it would benefit them to become as self sufficient as possible and a large chunk of the grass has now been turned over to growing food. It’s now a colourful array of green shades, raised beds dotted with vibrant flowers and improvised covers and ramshackle nettings protecting the produce. It reminds him a lot of his grandad’s allotment.

Roy watches the sunrise, the beautiful golden colours, getting bolder and brighter. It’s quiet and peaceful here, in a way that it never was before. Now there was no traffic, no cars, no planes, no people. He ’d never realised how much background noise there was in his life until it simply wasn’t there any more. When he left the grounds, out on a supply run and scavenging, the lack of noise was unnerving, but here, here it was calming.

He can almost forget where he is and what’s happened to the world.

Sometimes he can even forget his failures.

You don't see many American catholic nuns. But when there is a secret army of demon fighting ladies within the Church, if there is a gun there is bound to be an American. especially when the gun is a shot-gun. She might be more of an loner in her group, but she is key to the functionality of the team.

M—'s Nun/Cristabel Oct

She was good with little kids and animais, She committed suicide , twice. Both of times out of devotion to the man she thought was God but the second time also perhaps out of lesbian love for her best friend - an atheist bioengineer who experimented on human bodies and had no qualms killing for that same man. She knows the protocol to follow to report miracles direct to the Vatican, she also knows how use a gun and later on learned how to fight with a sword and a chain as off hand like in the coliseum. She was described as lunatic, she helped fund a sect of a new religion, no one could hate her not even the brother of the man she made a suicide pact with.

Cristabel isn't best nun she's worst nun. Nobody is doing it like her. Nobody should do it like her. She sees someone hesitating and goes "is anyone else going to kill themselves to force that guy's hand" and doesn't even wait for an answer. She did this twice.
