The first 3D printed parts for the OpenFlexure Microscope project are finished and look very good. The parts are printed without any support on the Original Prusa i3 MK3S with MMU2S by @josefprusa in the stunning @prusament PLA Mystic Brown and Pearl Mouse in 0.2mm layers. https://openflexure.org/projects/microscope/ #3dprinting #3dprintingindustry #3dp #openflexure #openflexuremicroscope #opensource #opensourcehardware #prusa3d #prusaresearch #prusaprinters #prusament #pla #filaments #raspberrypi #microscope #microscopy #maker #makersgonnamake #diy #laboratory #de3dprintman https://www.instagram.com/p/CAxE1VgjY0n/?igshid=4vj3woom9rbm

Print your own laboratory-grade microscope for US$18
For the first time, labs around the world can 3-D print their own precision microscopes to analyse samples and detect diseases, thanks to an open-source design created at the University of Bath.
The OpenFlexure Microscope, described in Biomedical Optics Express, is a fully automated, laboratory-grade instrument with motorised sample positioning and focus control. It is unique among 3-D-printed microscopes in its ability to yield high-quality images. It has been designed to be easy to use, with an intuitive software interface and simplified alignment procedures. It is also highly customisable, meaning it can be adapted for laboratory, school and home use.
Best of all, the Bath design is a lot more affordable than a commercial microscope, both in terms of the upfront cost and the maintenance costs of the equipment. A commercial microscope intended for lab use can sell for tens of thousands of pounds. An OpenFlexure microscope can be constructed for as little as £15 or US$18 (this would cover the cost of the printed plastic, a camera and some fastening hardware). A top-end version would cost a couple of hundred pounds to produce, and would include a microscope objective and an embedded Raspberry Pi computer.

This 3D printable “laboratory-grade” open-source microscope will set you back $18 A team of researchers at the University of Bath, UK, have developed an open-source design for a 3D printable “laboratory-grade” microscope, costing as little as $18. The OpenFlexure microscope is a fully automated device with motorised sample positioning, focus control and a precise mechanical stage. As well as being easy to use, the microscope has also […] https://buff.ly/3fS3FMy

The OpenFlexure microscope is a customisable, open-source optical microscope, using either very cheap webcam optics or lab quality, RMS threaded microscope objectives. It uses an inverted geometry, and has a high quality mechanical stage which can be motorised using low cost geared stepper motors.

My wife Erica is having fun with my new OpenFlexure microscope. She works in Archeology so this might be a nice new tool for her. The lab version of the microscope uses a @raspberrypi, Pi Cam v2, a lens, PLAN objective. The hardest part to find is the 50/50 defuser which can cost a couple hundred bucks if your lucky. #3dprinting #3dprintingcommunity #3dp #raspberrypi #raspberrypifoundation #rpi #openflexure #openflexuremicroscope #microscope #microscopy #lens #objective #opensource #opensourcehardware #prusa3d #prusament #de3dprintman https://www.instagram.com/p/CEKL-2Wj2ZT/?igshid=1bby7izs49eyp

The OpenFlexure project makes microscopy available for everyone and today I started building one of the lab grade versions. The OpenFlexure Microscope is a customisable, open-source optical microscope, using either very cheap webcam optics or lab quality, RMS threaded microscope objectives. It uses an inverted geometry, and has a high quality mechanical stage which can be motorised using low cost geared stepper motors. The printed parts are printed in @prusament PLA Pearl Mouse and Mystic Brown on the Original Prusa i3 MK3S by @josefprusa. The @raspberrypi 3B, Pi Cam v2, objectives, lenses, bolts and nuts, and other things needed cost over 300 euro. The normal version can be build for 50 euro or less. #3dprinting #3dprintingcommunity #3dp #3ddrucker #3ddruck #3d #prusa3d #prusai3mk3s #prusament #openflexure #openflexuremicroscope #microscope #microscopy #opensourcehardware #opensource #makermovement #laboratory #labgrade #industrial #de3dprintman https://www.instagram.com/p/CD6msDajuuy/?igshid=wp00g76cklyh

I'm working on the "lab grade" version of the OpenFlexure Microscope and for the printed parts I'm using this stunning @prusament Mystic Brown PLA. The quality of this filament truly is perfect. The deviation on this spool was only 0.01mm and look at that perfect wind. #3dprinting #3dprintingcommunity #3dp #3dprintingindustry #prusa3d #prusaresearch #prusaprinters #prusament #mysticbrown #filament #openflexure #microscope #opensource #opensourcehardware #makers #makermovement #laboratory #de3dprintman https://www.instagram.com/p/CAvyHtXjgDe/?igshid=2aja6xnh0afh

I need some O-rings for my OpenFlexure microscope project but they never arrived in the mail and they are nowhere to find anywhere near here so I made some in @adskfusion360 and printing them in 50 microns on my Original Prusa SL1 by @josefprusa in @liqcreate_3dprinting Flexible-X. #3dprinting #3dprintingcommunity #3dp #3dprinter #3dmodel #prusa #prusa3d #prusasl1 #liqcreate3d #flexible-x #resin #fusion360 #openflexuremicroscope #microscope #additive #am #additivemanufacturing #maker #makermovement #de3dprintman https://www.instagram.com/p/CEwoLncjFlL/?igshid=5oqp20yoclei
