figured out mounting my network storage (maybe it's a NAS?) by making some modifications to /etc/fstab
now i just need to setup automatic backups of my wip projects folder to storj to *extra* ensure the projects i'm working on are never lost. the other stuff is fine simply being stored on two devices in different locations of my house. at least until i can calculate how much it'd cost to permanently store that on storj and/or somewhere else non-local
i don't 3D print often enough, so every time i do, i have to spend a lot of time re-learning. this time i wanted to avoid windows entirely (rather than use anycubic's kobra software) and discovered OrcaSlicer. seems awesome, but my first print is still in-progress so we'll see how it turns out. also apparently ABS is hard to work with, so i should get something else to try out
i think i'll go sketch some t-shirt designs now, while watching my 3D printer and hoping my object doesn't warp and slide off the bed

So one of the models I'm working with had a 3mf file instead of just an stl like I've been working with. Turns out 3mf's contain printer settings as well as the model and positions on the plate. Turns out that nullified my printer settings preferences in OrcaSlicer, and it when back to the printer's original settings as a default which has the travel speed and acceleration set at bonkers fast, instead of my custom settings where those speeds are cut in half.
And THAT'S why the plate has been jolting out of position on the Y-axis again and as well as jerking around so fast that small prints are being shaken off the plate and flying off.
So, I'm glad my printer isn't just irrevocably janky, but I wish I hadn't ruined several prints before figuring this out.
#3d printing#a 4 hour print (that i should not have stayed up for) got ruined at 3 hours and 30 minutes#anyway if you have a sovol sv06 ace or ace plus turn down travel acceleration and speed. it shouldn't be that high.
