It's kinda funny looking back on old screenshots and edits I made 3-5 years ago because in a way they have changed a LOT yet at the same time also not all although the fact that my old computer could barely handle having FFXIV installed is kinda evident in hindsight lol
#ive played for 11 years now but its only as of july last year that i actually have a computer i can go nuts on#with editing and good graphics etc which is probably why ive felt such a stark jump in my abilities#like its MUCH easier to edit by hand when your pc doesnt freeze up and making the screen black out anytime you draw a stroke too long LOL#its kinda funny looking back though because i still rely on things i learned way before gpose was added to the game#to the point where i often forget there are new fancy tools i can use to help the process#and thats despite having used the crimetools for way longer than i havent at this point#same with gpose..... god. that shit was added january 2017 i think. so thats 3 years of learning when to pause at the right time#and using walls to angle the camera and to try and time weather and multiple tries in case skill effects looked off etc etc#honestly since i cant do much photography these days whether that be of people or of bjds gpose is like a balm to my soul#anyway im rambling LMFAO just a lot of nostalgia when looking back. ill have to hunt down some REALLY old screens at some point#just to compare with my newer ones!!! kind of insane to think about this as a skill one can improve on#especially now that suddenly its been like a decade almost of consistently doing it and yet i never stopped to truly think about it#as anything other than a thing you just do???? idk. i have a disconnect to myself and art as a concept i guess LMAO#art is what OTHER people do in my brain. *I* just fuck around to try things out for fun#anyway....#silvi talks

Prey (2017)
What an absolutey fantastic game that took me by surprise! I actually had started this multiple times over three platforms before I decided enough was enough and sat down with it lol.
It's such a shame that we won't be seeing a sequel.

Incapable of making a masterpiece into a masterpiece, my dear. Forgive me.

And now I've finished my first playthrough of Prey. Maybe I'll go back to it in the future, as there's a lot of options that exist outside the path I chose. Perhaps the most important thought I have to take away from this game is that the post credit scene is what the game is all about, and without it, you'd just have a pretty fun and creative immersive sim that gives me all the best vibes of System Shock 2 from my first time playing that many years ago. The finale, which I will not spoil here because the game will probably be on sale soon and I highly recommend checking it out for yourself, is what makes this game damn near a masterpiece.
So first, a few minor issues I do have with the game. Autosaving is a bit unreliable, and the biggest threat in battle on normal difficulty is not running out of resources over the course of exploration, but being one or two shot in a fight with little chance to respond. In an all Human power playthrough, you will find so dang many resources that creating what you want or need will be a piece of cake. Once you can manufacture Neuromods, Disruptor ammo, and Typhon Lures, you'll be able to pretty much kit yourself out however you want and be able to handle nearly any encounter with ease as long as you keep your cool. I don't know what Typhon powers change for the playthough except that you don't get much in the way of gun enhancements and you can't hack anything without human powers, along with turrets being hostile. I can't speak for how the unique powers change things, but I suspect they are pretty viable overall. A lot of creativity is encouraged in any playthrough, and the tools the game gives you are built for that. I also have to point out that on lower difficulties at least, the survival mechanics are pretty superfluous unless you struggle to find a schematic to make one of the injury healing items.
The thing that kinda bothered me the most in terms of a strange one-off decision was the Artemis Golden Pistol. It's the only unique weapon in the game, and it's a straight upgrade to the standard Pistol, which has some of the best DPS in the game if upgraded. Having some other unique weapons to find would have made hunting around the station and solving little environmental puzzles a more worthwhile endeavor, but by the mid to late game I kinda fell into looking around everywhere out of habit instead of need. Supplies were absurdly abundant and I was never in danger of running out as long as I varied my tactics a little bit.
As for what I liked, the exploration encouraged really looking everywhere and anywhere for items and bodies with possible audio logs. Additionally, giving the player the GLOO cannon as the first ranged weapon in the game was brilliant, as well as prodding you to use the wrench to break out of your room at the beginning. Each of these elements and areas showed you how you can interact with the environment in ways that would be useful for the entire game. Adding a tracking system to the security rooms helped with hunting for collectables on bodies, and space movement was very fun and exactly as disorienting as I felt it should be. Most of all, the story, worldbuilding, and themes are consistent and rather delightful. I won't go much further than that except to point out that your character's computer password is a reference to the Fermi Paradox, a scientific conundrum about why humankind has never met life or found evidence of life from another intelligent species in our galaxy. The Fermi Paradox has more or less lived rent-free in my head since I first learned about it many years ago.
Loved this game, might pick up Mooncrash during a sale, also Prey is part of a Humble Bundle right now for the next 17 days so maybe that would make this a good time to pick it up. X3

played Bulletstorm (with Duke's Tour selected), I originally bought it on Switch but the aiming was quite awful with joycons and no gyro, I had to buy it on PC and play there instead the game wants you to be creative with the ways you kill your enemies, but I didn't find the gunplay to be much my thing, I did however kick a lot of enemies, that was a fun mechanic the story sucks, but Duke Nukem is hilarious I know the DLC is shoehorned in but i still found it funny Jon St. John's performance here was more solid than in Duke Nukem Forever also

Time for a Horizon Zero Dawn rant!! Maybe I'm living under a rock, and everyone's already heard of this game. If so, please ignore me.
I've only played 13 hours thus far, and I'd already say it's a criminally underrated game. At the very least, it's not talked about enough by the game channels I follow. I only heard of it from a one-off mention in a random YouTube video I was watching.
It's not perfect by any means, but imho the story is engaging, the characters are compelling, and the controls are incredibly satisfying.
I came for the concept and stayed for the fun gameplay and stunning atmosphere.

I've been playing on normal, and it's been difficult enough to give that satisfaction when you finally manage to figure out how to strategize against specific enemy types, but it doesn't feel impossible to do so either. In other words, Normal has decent scaling.
I could go on and on about what I enjoy about this game, but we'd end up with an entire essay. Again, it's not a perfect game by any means, but it's the most fun/delight I've experienced with a game's mechanics in a while.
I've never played any Assasin's Creed games, so correct me if I'm wrong here, but some of the mechanics remind me of that. There's a lot of wall scaling (climbing with handholds and footholds), rapelling, balancing, and general parkour. I imagine that's what AC is like, but I can't be bothered to google it tbh lest I end up down another rabbithole.
I recommend checking out the trailer for it to see if the general concept intrigues you. It was hook, line, and sinker for me, personally. A badass female main character living in a society based around matriarchs??? COOL STUFF!!
OH, one last thing... The crafting system is simple and intuitive to use, AND supplies are numerous. That specifically is a breath of fresh air to me since I play almost exclusively Fallout and RDR2 and iykyk
