The other side of the North Shroud was, at the very least, familiar. Its damaged landscape, hostile and dangerous monsters, and ever present gloomy atmosphere put Howler back into the old mindset – of when dust clung on to their boots, when air was harder to breathe, and every moment was spent looking over shoulder just in case. 

Igey had suggested a sparring match. Smart, really – neither knew how the other fought, and if they were going to travel together they needed to cover these basics at the very least. Hells, Howler didn’t even know why Igey was following them, or why they were tasked with guarding them. 

Not that they were ungrateful for additional help, but… well they didn’t know anything aside from the woman's name. And the fact that she could manipulate aether and ice like those old tales of Shiva.

No better way to build trust than to spar. If they could trust them not to lop their head off by accident, they could trust them on the field, right?

The spear was light in their hands – cold, but light. Its frozen tip left trails in the air of light blues and purples on every strike, shimmering ribbons that marked the paths taken. 

Howler's strikes were fast and precise, while their foot-work was light – eager to move, eager to dodge, to dance out of the way. They only lunged when sure it would hit, with feints mixed in – Howler might’ve not hit hard, but they had their ways of forcing an opening. 

Or would’ve, if Igey wasn’t on top of every move, managing every counter. Sure, they didn’t read all of Howler's feints – but the openings Howler managed to get were both hard won and half of the time just as perilous as attacking head on.

The blades of ice were deflected – oftentimes with the staff, or the broadside of the blade – and every time Howler grimaced. Not from the force behind the strike, but rather from fear that the weapons would be chipped. They had just gotten this weapon - of course they'd be afraid of breaking or damaging it!

It was during one of their feints that Howler finally realized something – they were more than familiar with Dark Knights, so they could figure out this much at least.

Igey hadn't broken a sweat once during the spar. Not once had they truly faltered. Caught off guard, maybe, but she was just as quick to adjust and make things a little harder for Howler – a proper tank, all around. Good. Too good, even. 

She knew what she was doing. 

So, during one hasty back-step to avoid being sliced, Howler decided to push themselves a little. Just a little. 

Usually, they avoided tapping into more aether based attacks while sparring, but Igey had made it very clear they wouldn’t get past any defenses without putting more weight and power into their attacks. Turquoise energy coated their spear’s tip for a brief second – always, their aether always changed color like this when channeling any of the elements, always adapting and leaving them feeling off- 

The feeling of aether, mixed with wind and ice, suddenly bubbled… and burst. Momentum Howler had started with that strike – from left and below – came to a sudden halt with a loud clang, causing the Elezen to freeze in place. 

Igey had fully blocked that attack. Not with just the sword, either – no, she had stepped on top of the blade. 

Howler could only stare for a second, before locking eyes with Igey’s – purple. They were purple. 

The ever present red lenses had moved further down her nose due to the swift movement, and raw power behind Howler’s swing. Impact had been felt but certainly didn’t phase nor move her solid frame. Now, with freely exposed purple gaze, did those eyes seem to stare beyond the material. Cool, calculating, and knowing, an eerie glow beheld within. Reading every shift of body language. Even as her hands flexed on the handle of that great sword, shifting her aether through the grip.

“Well played. Your attack would be hard pressed to defend from, were I any other living soul on this star. However…”

Howler wasn’t sure what caused them to leap backwards so fast – those words, those eyes, or the feeling of the sword suddenly shifting, signaling a wide arching attack. Whatever it was, an age-old instinct that screamed all the way from the stone embedded inside their arm to the blood coursing in their veins to their very soul – it told them to run. 

And so Howler leapt. 

The wide swing was swift, yet missed with a whistle through the air. Leaving Igey with a surprised expression- only to shift into worry with a shout. “Edge!” 

Howler’s landing was rough, having put a little bit too much into that leap – they were rusty, that much was true. Dirt was kicked up, along with the frost that had been slowly creeping along from the weapons, toes dug into the ground as Howler struggled to keep their balance for a moment. 

Struggled to make sure they wouldn’t fall over the ledge.

The woman heaved a relieved sigh as she pushed those red sunglasses back in place. “Seems you panicked.”

“I’m fine!” Howler replied hastily, trying to comfort the woman even as their own heart raced, as they started to stand up properly. The feeling of danger never truly left, but it… lessened. It was easier to breathe. “I just overreacted a little, that’s a-”

The ledge beneath Howler's feet gave away suddenly – with no warning either, the cruel bastard. They yelped, one hand shooting up in alarm – too far away from Igey to come and safe just yet. 

“Howler!” Igey rushed to the ledge, metal clinking together, and grinding as she skidded to a stop at the edge. The woman’s downward gaze landing on the Elezen. Fearful for a moment they had fallen to serious injury or worse. “Are you all right?”

“I’m fine!” Howler shouted back up, repeating themselves for the second time that day. There they were, between roots, using all limbs and the polearm itself to make sure they didn’t fall any further. “Just some bruises and scrapes! … And my ego took a hit….” 

As if Howler had one to begin with. 

Igey’s tension melted out of every limb as she stood straight once more. Watching with much less worry, and more exasperation. “Heart attack would be a new one… Going to cause the next death of me at this rate-” 

And so she merely watched the Elezen begin the climb… Until they were at the near top, where one gauntlet clad hand extended to offer. 

“Let’s put this on hold for now, hm?”

Comic ideas, comic ideas!

Hello, good morning, friends! :D It is I, your local self proclaimed storyteller, ever with many stories on her mind and never enough energy to push herself to do anything... except I am determined to push myself this time!

Everyone seemed to have enjoyed my lil Snake Cleric (Sneric?) character and I've been brewing a bit of short story about him. I'm wondering, should I make a dedicated blog to post comic pages (once I start them haha;; ahhh) or go for it here? Is tumblr even a good place to post a comic? Are you interested to follow it? I know my main blog is kind of a reblog and journaling place with occasional arts but it is also where I have most followers :D;; but a new blog can also keep things more organized? Hmmm

I worry it won't really be as interesting as Mirage Crown, given how it will just be OG content and FanArts are always more appealing... but I also kinda want to make a short comic again that won't burn me out cause I decided to world build a story in 200+ pages ... *cough couch* FanFyria *cough cough* String of Time *cough cough* and while tumblr seems more quiet over the past few years, I also feel it is more friendly and cozy than Twitter where everything goes into the void after 3 seconds fame on the dashboard. Posting on webtoon/tapas feels super intimidating 8D; everyone is super pro and everything is colored and pretty ... I won't have the energy to do anything in color for sure. And I do want to keep it more casual like I did with MC, just a short comic story for fun.

Precure Store (Tokyo)

Alright, I’ve got 30 minutes till the gym opens and two hours till ep 38 airs on TV. Not sure if I’ll even be able to watch it (gotta go have breakfast, then hair appointment, then a wedding) so might post about it tomorrow before heading out to Skytree.

Anyways, I’ll be quite busy so here’s my brief feedback on my visit to the Precure Store located in Tokyo.

It is small.

From what I’ve read, the Osaka one is quite bigger but I’m not visiting Osaka this time so I’ll save that for my next trip.

And if you’ve read anyone else’s comments about this store, then you’ll likely know that most of the merchandise they’re selling is that of the currently airing season.

That said, it’d be best not to ask me for directions (I royally suck at that) as I’ve also spent a long time trying to find it (it’s B1 level below Kitchen Street where all these other character goods stores are) and probably drove my mother to near insanity since she was so tired and hungry from walking through Ueno Park all day and had to follow me here from the Pokemon Center.

But I can tell you the train lines that you can take are the Ginza line to Nihombashi station (the one I took) or the Marunouchi line to Tokyo station, which takes you straight there actually.

There’s also the Tozai line and the JR line that passes through the huge terminal located inside the building but I’m not familiar with those.

K, moving along.

I don’t know if they rotate the character stands on a daily basis or what but when I went yesterday, Lala was the one to greet me and I haven’t felt this vindicated in a long time. Best Girl of StarPre!

Next, obviously since it’s a small store, you won’t see any mini shopping carts but the bins they have are super cute. Ordinary but cute...and of course, pink.

I don’t like it when they take different promo art from every All Stars movie there is to bunch them all together like this but it didn’t annoy me as much when I saw all the girls smiling up at me, so happy to see me purchasing their goods~

Speaking of All Stars, there are a few items of those but they’re mostly mochi mascots and plush keychains that occupy just one shelf.

Now for StarPre, you got the usual kiddie toys and cloths that take up most of the right side of the store walking in so I didn’t hang around there for too long.

On the left side is where the stuff that would generally appeal to older collectors (like badges, clear files, etc) are located.

To my dismay, there isn’t enough variety of Halloween goods but again, small store. Also, seasonal goods = limited so oh well.

And to my further disappointment, it appears Elena/Soleil is not as popular in Japan as the rest of her teammates?

Or at least not as loved that people would want to buy her goods?

Because there was quite a lot of her just hanging around while the other Star girls seemed close to running out of stock.

Hikaru’s a given, she’s the lead Pink Cure. Lala is supremely likable and Madoka is the archetype Japanese audiences tend to favor especially so no surprise there.

There weren’t a lot of Yuni items either but I chalk that up to her being a latecomer Cure than anything.

So yea...I suppose I can guess at the reasons why Soleil is at the bottom of the popularity poll but nah, not today.

Mmkay, so these are the stuff I bought.

It’s not a haul (everything here is friggin’ expensive as hell!) but I’m satisfied with my purchase.

I got a little something from every season I loved along with one from StarPre (I do love StarPre immensely. I’m just not in love with it, there’s a difference). Gonna celebrate Halloween with Lala hanging from my bag, dressed in a pumpkin suit. Kyaaa~! She’s so cute! x33

Then some mochi mascot of the MahoGirls, Miracle and Magical in Ruby style which were the only ones available for MahoPre. Sadly, in my rush, I forgot to grab a Mofurun mochi. If they still have her my next time around back, then I’ll pick her up then but I highly doubt those will stay for that long. :( 

Tsubomi cosplaying as Chypre keychain because she is my eternal daughter. <3 I wanted to buy Mirai cosplaying as Mofurun, too, but I’ve been spending so much on this trip already and already got the mochi MahoPre anyway so decided not to (also, my mom said she thought Tsubomi was cuter and I was like *GASP* “I have more than one daughter, Mom!”). Again, hopefully I can pick her up on my next trip to Japan but there’s no guarantee she’ll still be in stock.

Finally, two SD keychains of my fave girls from Go!Pri. I was hesitating to buy them cuz I wasn’t really that drawn to these (I really wanted vinyl stands of them in Halloween get-up (which the staff printed from the CurePuz game I guess? and stuck to their cashier registers) though not sure if those exist) but my desire to buy something Go!Pri related won out...

...only for me to remember right after I paid that I already own S.H. Figuarts for Twinkle and Scarlet (d’oh!) so I might be selling these in the future.

But yea, very happy with my stuffs, hehe~ 8D

DUDE!! 8′D Omigosh I’m so jazzed, like…here we all are still processing his anime debut, then ONE sneakily updates the webcomic again…and it was all, oh hey there’s Bang and King! Gee all this martial arts training stuff feels so familiar, I wonder what Garou’s up to after everyth–…WHAM suddenly THERE HE IS! ;A; Ahaha holy fuck, that was priceless. ONE’s timing is impeccable. :’D

HHHHH, and I’m so GLAD too; it’s been YEARS since we last saw anything of him (except for that popularity poll art ONE did) after the arc’s conclusion with unknown whereabouts. I figured he HAD to show up again eventually, considering the abrupt loose ends ONE left us on…and now ahhhhh, I’m so excited for what ONE’s got planned. (Honestly I bet Murata’s excited too!) As he tends to only reintroduce characters back into the story once they’re needed again (I doubt this is just a one-time cameo), so what’s Garou gonna do now!? 8D Just from this brief tease, it seems he’s been doing some serious soul searching off on his own, and now I’m so eager to see how much he’s changed/reformed after everything. Best case/wishful thinking scenario he becomes sort of a lone wolf ally somehow…ajghhg King likely disturbed his meditation too, so I’m curious what his next move will be. Most of all, I wanna see Garou properly patch things up with Bang, to then sort out his next moves from there… Oh man! Definitely many exciting possibilities to look forward to!

There’s a place near me that’s now a houndour nest, so I spent a bit there just collecting them so I can have a good houndoom. >8D And now I don’t have any stardust left, haha. I think there’s four pokemon I want to try powering up for a mewtwo team, and then after that I’ll start preparing a suicune team, since my entei and raikou team are pretty much the same and that one’s fine.

The area around me also has a couple scyther spawns so heeeell yeah, candies! 8D

Also, the atmosphere on my city’s pokemon go discord is getting a little awkward (and uncomfortable?) from the main mod. There’s been some ongoing discussion about having a pokemon scanner bot as well as fairness of regulating the rules (one of the rules is no scanner finds but some people are clearly using scanners but haven’t been told to stop). Main mod hates scanners and basically is giving off vibes of ‘my discord; my rules’ with not wanting people to promote using scanners. There’s a poll going on on if we should get a bot or not and it sort of feels with about 75% of the votes currently in favour of a bot, the mod’s responses with people have gotten shorter and possibly biting? Text doesn’t carry tone etc etc, but it still feels off.

The discord also has a sharing ‘sweet finds’ channel to let other players know where there are spawns of pokemon but the list of restrictions has been getting steadily longer and longer, and it sort of feels like a divide of lower level players with higher level players because there’s been a couple of times where I or someone else has posted something because for us it’s a rare pokemon but it gets deleted because it’s not something interesting for the higher level people. Like, there’s weak single evolution pokemon that are hard to find, and they’re basically not ‘allowed’ to be posted for other people still trying to fill their pokedex. And now regular pokemon spawns aren’t allowed to be promoted there, even when it’s scyther nests when some people want to build up a mewtwo team.

Like, I’d thought sweet finds were for stuff you were excited to find, but it doesn’t seem very fun anymore. :/
