Hongjoong explains his NO1 intro process and a concert mishap in NYC
Credit @lovelifebeauty_ for the translation
Since I have full control over the stage in Part 3 of the concert, I was really worried at first. When I talked to the Pro Tools engineer, Eden hyung, and the audio team, there was talk about whether to do hand-sync or not. I said, “If I have to hand-sync, I’d rather not do it.” I didn’t want to do that. Even if there was risk, I wanted to do it properly, because this concert isn’t just about me. They found a way to make it work, and now the concert setup is safe - as long as I don’t mess up. There are no technical issues; it’s just on me to execute correctly.
That’s why the length of the intro doesn’t change. The BPM stays the same. I’m making different sets using the exact same BPM. If the length were to change, it would make it hard for the lighting and other effects teams to stay in sync, since all the sound is coming from me. So I’m creating different intros within the same BPM. As the number of sets grows, there are genre limitations, and I’m not sure yet how to keep it interesting, but I’m trying my best to show everything I’ve prepared.
Now that everything’s done, I can share this behind-the-scenes story. At the New York concert, there was a moment when the audio system cut out briefly. I heard there was an electrical issue inside Citi Field. Upon review, the issue actually started during my performance. If you rewatch the video, you’ll notice the PA sound - the one going out to the speakers - cuts out briefly here and there. The sound stopped and restarted multiple times, just for a moment each time.
What was critical, though, was that from the start of my performance, my in-ear monitors weren’t working. It wasn’t my DJ gear’s fault. Apparently, there were power issues within Citi Field. Usually, I listen through my in-ears, but since they weren’t working, I relied on the stage monitors. That was okay at first, but my performance includes going down into the crowd. I went down and was like, “What do I do now?” But since I was with the fans, I ended up looking at their mouths to follow along (laughs), passing the mic to fans (laughs), handing it over to ATINYs and making it work like that.
So, yeah - those kinds of things are also part of the charm of live concerts.
His in-ears weren't working and Hongjoong relied on his wits to complete his set...what a pro!!

Colossus (Fusilier)
Overview:
Seeking a class of DropShip that could carry and support large formations during operations, Mitchell Vehicles Interstellar responded with the Colossus-class, a bold design massing 20,000 tons - the largest assault DropShip ever built.
Capabilities:
The Fusiliers' custom variant of the Colossus carries a dizzying array of weaponry, both to protect itself and provide fire support for its complement of troops. Located in the nose of the ship are two Arrow IV artillery systems and a Long Tom artillery piece, all of which can only be used when the ship is grounded. Joining them are two Clan-spec Gauss rifles, two Clan ER PPCs, a Clan ER large laser, and four Clan ER medium lasers. Covering each of its fore left and right firing arcs are two Clan LRM-20s, a Clan ER PPC, a Clan ER large laser, and four Clan ER medium lasers, with the same setup covering both rear firing arcs. Protecting the aft of the ship are two Clan ER large lasers and four Clan ER medium lasers, as well as a defensive screen launcher with 15 rounds of ammunition. Each arc is also protected by a paired set of Clan laser AMS. All four LRM-20s are fitted with Artemis V fire control systems, and the ship's ammunition complement includes 30 Arrow IV missiles, 100 Long Tom rounds, 192 salvos worth of LRM-20 missiles, and 96 Gauss Rifle rounds. But these are not the Fusilier Colossus' most impressive armament - that honor goes to the trio of Sub-Capital Laser/3s mounted in the vessel's nose, along with the LosTech non-teleoperated Kraken missile system, loaded with a magazine of 50 missiles. These extremely powerful weapons ensure that the DropShip can adequately defend itself even against WarShips if needed. The ships are also equipped with 72 tons of Clan-spec Ferro-Aluminum armor, the maximum possible amount of the most advanced protection available for their spaceframes. Each vessel is further equipped with a Mobile HPG (the cost of which alone accounts for the vast majority of the DropShips' over 30 billion C-bill price tag), a Small Naval Comm-Scanner Suite (another major contributor to the vessels' inflated cost), 15 tons of communications gear, and advanced sensors including Hi-Res, Hyperspectral, and Infrared Imagers, as well as a Look-Down Radar - ensuring that the Fusiliers can gain as much intelligence as possible before a combat drop.
Deployment:
The Colossus (Fusilier) is equipped with five Cargo Bays, designed to carry elements of Fursona's Fusiliers and their associated equipment to the battlefield. The first bay is a dedicated vehicle bay, able to carry 30 heavy vehicles, and is serviced by a single door. The second bay carries 45 BattleMechs able to enter and exit through three doors. The third bay is dedicated to transporting power armored infantry - a mix of both Elemental and PA(L) suits - with a single access door. The fourth bay carries 10 aerospace fighters each, with two access doors. The last bay is reserved for general supplies, with a capacity of 1528.5 tons.
History:
These two modified and up-tonned Colossus class DropShips were refitted at MVI's Graham IV yards on special order for noted mercenary commander Savannah Caruso, in the immediate aftermath of the Jihad. Two such conversions were made - publicly, the refits were conducted under the names Rocinante and Donnager. It remained unknown to anyone but MVI executives and the Fusiliers themselves that the two vessels' true names were in fact the SLS Abyss - famous for her rumored (later revealed to be truthful) involvement in smuggling the final remaining members of House Cameron off of Terra in the immediate aftermath of Amaris' coup in 2766 - and SLS Ben Nevis - once the personal DropShip of every First Lord and Director-General, from Michael II to Richard.

Extermination 8.7
In which nobody is happy and everything is pain
Wuh oh, the worst chapter of Taylor's life has just received a series of footnotes that provide further context, and none of them are making her feel any better
And now things are getting even worse
Hey Colin, looks like you've lost some weight, trying something new with the asymmetrical look?
Also I like how even Taylor's paranoid ass is like "no you know what, they didn't need to know Sophia was a superhero for them to fuck me over"
Really copping it up in here, huh you two?
This is bad for everybody. A supervillain who's taken explicit actions against the PRT and Protectorate has discovered the identity of a Ward, and a teenage girl is being surrounded and lambasted by adults who could make her life Hell with very little effort.
God, Birdcage would be nightmarish, especially with Lung in there probably nursing the mother of all grudges
Also, interesting that Taylor changing her mind translates to Armsmaster as her being a master manipulator and spinner of lies. There's no possible way that she stopped trying to be a hero because he acted like a gigantic asshole the second time they met or something.
Skitter has gotten the absolute worse perspective that the heroes can offer, so she's suffering a biased stance here, but even without that her anti-authority streak is way too strong to tolerate it for long
Don't throw a fucking shitfit, Colin
You're an adult, fucking act like one
Yaaaaaaay, the crew's alright and they're backing Skitter up, there's no way this immediately blows up
Grue is making himself look bigger in this moment, scarier, more authoritative. If I'm understanding right that means he's way on the fucking edge about all of this and feeling tense and a little scared.
Glad Regent got out of it with only some stitches, wonder if that cut is anything noteworthy or if he just got gouged by some glass or shrapnel or something
Bitch is handling things about as well as could be expected
Hey Tattletale, glad you're not dead
Oh boy!
Sophia would fucking lunge across the tent and go for the murder attempt then and there, I'm pretty sure
Also, Legend is technically right, insofar as Taylor has made a lot of situations more difficult by digging her heels in
Unfortunately, he would.
Look at her getting her little debut to the Protectorate leader
The greatest asset and weakness of the Protectorate: image
These people are about to get their shit rocked by a teenager with access to a PA system and I'm not convinced they didn't bring this on themselves
Also, love an ultimatum, very heroic
Tattletale you're so cool and real for this
We love an ultimatum, very villainous
Colin, you dumbfuck
I think the most damning part of this conversation is that Miss Militia literally doesn't have any trouble connecting the dots
There's the setup
And there's the knockdown. Armsmaster has once again been outplayed by a teenager, and now the best thing to do is probably to quit while he's behind
So of course he decides to double and triple down
Let's review facts here
Armsmaster is a grown-ass man who is really upset that a pack of teenagers are beating him
He has admitted, out loud, that he broke truce conditions and got villains killed in order to try and get a moment of glory
He knows full well that at least two of the Undersiders have killed before and may kill again if suitably motivated, such as, I don't know, finding out a teammate tried to betray them
So with everything in consideration
he throws a tantrum that could get a girl killed because of wounded pride
This hurts, a lot
Also hey early hint that Tattletale knows what's up
Panacea like "wow this girl is some kind of disaster, thank god my worldview guarantees that I'm way better than her"
Also Jesus fucking Christ what a way to end the chapter
Current Thoughts
God fucking dammit Colin, you could literally get a teenager killed because you had to throw a fucking tantrum over how you got your kill stolen and your super cool plan to win glory and recover lost pride got foiled by the common fucking sense of "you can't kill an Endbringer"
I know that isn't what happens, but hey guess what he doesn't know Taylor's story goes for another twenty-plus chapters, he's willing to roll those dice because his feewings got huwt
I hope they make him choke on whatever book ends up thrown at him for this

OK, Veilguard, fess up. What is the giant green glowing thing?
Emmrich> "Oh, my word!" Bellara> "Wow, that's-- it's-- how did she do this?" Hezenkoss> "(voice muffled, as if from a PA system) I thought you and your little friends might worm your way into my party, Volkarin!" Emmrich> "Johanna! Even half-lich, you can't control something this massive!" Hezenkoss> "Hah! Such little faith!" Helena> "That glow on the skeleton up there. That's Hezenkoss's lantern!" Emmrich> "She's going to use the life stored in it to reanimate that... that monstrosity! Quickly, we must reach the lantern!"
I see. D: That seems bad.
Time for a chaotic run through the cellar corridors to actually reach Johanna's Osseous Megazord. Lots more undead to fight, of course.
So far those two rings I mentioned in the last post seem to be working well together. I'm not sure how much my abilities usually cost but I don't think this is a tremendous change, and the extra healing is very nice.
There's a note on an out of the way table:
Snrk. (The professor of antiquities feels like a reference to something, but I'm drawing a blank who what it might be.)
Helena> "This is a revenge list." Emmrich> "Johanna was never one to refuse a long and complex grudge." Helena> "People from the party. You." Emmrich> "Unsurprising." Helena> "And Manfred." Emmrich> "How dare she!" Manfred> "Me!!!"
Oh my god. XD
-----
Another interesting development as we proceed further into the basement:
Emmrich> "Unbelievable. Johanna's stolen a chamber from the Grand Necropolis and transposed it under Blackthorne Manor!" Bellara> "I'd say that should be impossible, but. Well. We've been to Arlathan." Emmrich> "The Necropolis's wards here are still intact. No wonder we couldn't sense what she's been creating!"
That sound you hear is Helena internally screaming about more weird magic shit. XD
There's some more undead and demons to fight down here (including a pride demon). Johanna also has some ominous lines over the PA about Manfred; I'm going to be Very Upset if she lays a hand on my skeleton boy.
(Also I lied, this new ring setup is driving me crazy. XD That extra ability cost makes it very hard for me to throw my explosives everywhere. Back to my previous setup.)
-----
Eventually we reach the giant "bone golem" (as the journal entry calls it).
Helena> "There's the lantern. You're going to free the spirits inside?" Emmrich> "We must, before we can destroy it." Helena> "Like back when you were freeing those spirits Hezenkoss trapped in the manor? That took a lot out of you." Emmrich> "I must try, Rook."
Helena watches uneasily as Emmrich's arms begin sweeping through the air, tugging at the Fade, dragging at the trapped souls within the lantern's grasp--
And then he jolts backward and screams.
"No!" Helena hears Manfred squeal from somewhere behind them.
"Emmrich?" she says worriedly as the blaze of light fades, leaving Emmrich crouching on the wooden scaffolding.
"I'm sorry..." he whispers. She can see that he is trembling violently, his hands balled into fists. "I can't... Another lash of power might end me..."
"Hah!" barks another voice, icy, cruel, mocking. "Coward!"
They both look up.
Hezenkoss is staring down at them from the golem's shoulder.

The Smart Way to Build Your Setup: DJ Controller Bundles in Toronto: A Complete Guide for Beginners and Pros
If you’ve ever found yourself deep into YouTube tutorials or mixing tracks on free DJ apps, there’s a point where the software just isn’t enough. That’s where gear comes in—and if you're based in Toronto, you're in luck. The city is a growing hub for DJs, and getting your hands on the right DJ controller bundle can be the difference between casual mixes and memorable performances.
But with so many gear options out there, the question is: Should you buy everything separately or go for a bundle?
Why DJ Controller Bundles Make Sense (Especially in Toronto)
A DJ controller bundle is exactly what it sounds like: a package that includes a controller, headphones, software, cables, and sometimes even monitors or laptop stands. It's designed for plug-and-play convenience. No hunting for missing adapters or worrying if your gear will connect correctly.
For beginners, bundles reduce the guesswork. For pros, it’s a fast and efficient upgrade path. And if you're in Toronto, local retailers and online stores often offer exclusive packages tailored to Canadian customers.

What You’ll Typically Find in a DJ Bundle
Most high-quality DJ controller bundles in Canada come with the following:
DJ Controller: Brands like Pioneer (DDJ-FLX4, DDJ-REV1) or Numark (Mixtrack Pro FX) are common inclusions. These are trusted names with solid performance and integration.
DJ Software: Usually includes Serato DJ Lite, Rekordbox, or VirtualDJ licenses.
Headphones: Over-ear DJ headphones with solid sound isolation for accurate cueing.
Cables: Audio cables to connect to speakers or interfaces.
Laptop Stand or Carrying Case: Included in some premium bundles.
Monitors or Speakers: Optional, but common in complete DJ kits.
Where to Find DJ Bundles in Toronto
Several online Canadian retailers offer fast shipping to Toronto. Look for bundle listings that clearly mention what’s included and provide brand/model names. Local stores in the Greater Toronto Area may allow you to demo gear before you buy—a great option if you want to compare controllers physically.
Some trusted e-commerce platforms provide:
Financing options
Package customizations
Free software upgrades
Buying local can also mean easier returns, quicker repairs, and Canadian warranty coverage.
Buying Tips Before You Checkout
Check software compatibility with your laptop (Mac or Windows).
Look at audio interface quality if you plan to connect to larger PA systems.
Don't skip on build quality — especially for faders and jog wheels.
Read user reviews — especially on Canadian stores — to catch any red flags.
Final Word
Whether you’re stepping into the DJ world or upgrading for your next live set, a DJ controller bundle in Toronto can fast-track your journey. It saves time, ensures compatibility, and often gives you more value than piecing everything together.
Toronto’s DJ culture is growing—and so should your setup. Choose a bundle that fits your skill level, space, and creative needs. With the right gear in your hands, your next great mix could be just one cue button away.

How Live Music Events Are Changing in 2025 (and Why Sound Matters More Than Ever)
Discover how live music events are evolving in 2025 and why top-tier sound systems, smart stage setups, and immersive audio are redefining the audience experience.
Introduction: Live Music Is Evolving—So Is Its Sound
Modern live music setups now blend immersive stage layouts with precision audio placement, meeting rising audience expectations in 2025.
Live events in 2025 are not what they used to be. From boutique festivals to hybrid performances, audiences now expect more than just a performance—they expect an immersive, multi-sensory experience. Lighting, visuals, and interaction matter, but sound remains at the heart of it all.
Whether you're mixing front of house, setting up a club PA, or coordinating a multi-zone venue, the expectations for clean, balanced, and powerful audio have never been higher. As venues shift and audience behavior changes, understanding how sound plays into this evolution is key to staying ahead.
1. From Static Stages to Dynamic Layouts
Traditional front-facing stages are giving way to modular, flexible setups. Circular stages, side-stage crowd zones, and multi-directional audio fields are becoming common, especially in immersive or themed events.
Why it matters: This shift demands speaker configurations that go beyond simple left-right stacks. Professionals are turning to multi-zone speaker systems, flyable line arrays, and remote-controlled DSPs to maintain clarity across evolving audience positions.
Distributed speaker zones reduce the need for overpowering front fills—improving vocal presence and reducing fatigue.
2. The Rise of Smaller, Smarter Venues
Pop-up concerts, micro-theatres, and rooftop events are gaining popularity—especially in urban areas. These spaces offer intimacy and character, but they introduce serious acoustic challenges.
What’s changing: Acoustic treatment, compact loudspeaker designs, and digital mixers with built-in feedback suppression are now essential for smaller venues. Portable systems that deliver tight dispersion and clear reproduction are being favored over brute power.
Use angled monitors, foam barriers, and low-profile subwoofers to avoid buildup in reflective corners or glass-heavy rooms.
3. Hybrid Events Demand Consistent Broadcast Audio
Live streams are now standard, whether for global ticketing or digital fan engagement. In 2025, every event will also broadcast.
Why it matters: The sound mix for the room must now coexist with a separate feed optimized for livestream audiences. Matrix routing, dual-bus mixing, and onboard recording capabilities in digital mixers allow engineers to balance both worlds without compromise.
Set up parallel compression on the stream mix to preserve detail, while giving the in-person crowd more dynamic range.
4. Audiences Expect More Than Loudness
The era of “as loud as possible” is fading. In 2025, audiences expect clarity, impact, and spatial awareness.
With listeners increasingly savvy about sound—thanks to studio headphones, car audio upgrades, and cinematic experiences—poor audio is noticed fast. Event organizers are investing in quality speaker voicing, matched subwoofer alignment, and real-time EQ management to meet expectations.
Use cardioid sub arrays to reduce boominess and keep low-end energy directed where it counts.
5. Visuals Are Integrated with Audio Like Never Before
Audio is no longer a standalone department—it’s tied into lighting cues, LED wall sequences, and timecoded show elements. In many cases, the sound system must react with visual choreography.
Key gear shift: Systems with digital audio networking and MIDI or OSC control compatibility are enabling tighter integration between visual and audio crews.
Sync your audio cues through timecode-capable devices or lighting consoles for seamless transitions.
6. Sustainability Is Now Part of Audio Planning
Eco-conscious design is becoming standard. Venues are prioritizing power-efficient equipment, while touring artists aim to reduce their gear footprint without sacrificing quality.
Trends in 2025: Class-D amplifier stages, lightweight truss-safe enclosures, and passive stage monitors with smart amp racks are seeing increased use. Modular systems that serve multiple event types—from weddings to festivals—are becoming smart investments.
Use energy-efficient DSP amplifiers and daisy-chain configurations to reduce cabling clutter and power draw.
7. On-the-Fly Adjustments Are Now Expected
With quick-change acts, spontaneous guest performers, and unpredictable crowd reactions, adaptability is crucial.
Modern systems are built with real-time remote access, allowing engineers to adjust system EQ, delay, or gain from anywhere in the venue—often via tablet or phone.
How it's changing workflow: Techs can move around the crowd, identify dead spots or hot zones, and fix issues without running back to the rack.
Use networked loudspeakers and digital snake systems for fast patching and zonal updates.
8. Collaboration with Specialists Is Increasing
As event complexity grows, collaboration with professional audio sellers is becoming non-negotiable. From pre-engineered truss systems to consulting on system tuning, more venues are relying on trusted suppliers to get it right the first time.
Whether you're outfitting a club or designing an outdoor rig, working with experienced specialists ensures safer setups, better coverage, and fewer last-minute surprises.
Connect with experienced pro audio consultants early in the planning phase for system mapping, equipment prep, and acoustic walkthroughs.
Modern sound engineers adapt to hybrid setups and crowd dynamics, using remote digital mixers and networked loudspeakers for flawless execution.
Final Thoughts: Sound Is Still the Heart of the Show
In 2025, live music events are changing—but one truth remains: sound carries the soul of the experience.
What’s different now is that audiences demand more precision, and audio pros have more tools than ever to deliver it. Whether you’re building for a 50-person gallery or a 5,000-person arena, your ability to adapt to evolving trends, use smarter gear, and keep sound quality at the forefront will define the success of the event. And in a world where every note can be heard online, remembered by a crowd, or replayed through a livestream—what you do behind the board matters more than ever.

ok first impressions/thoughts on season 4 (very light spoilers for rebirth and possibly lukewarm takes ahead)
Much shorter and straightforward trial than i expected. I guess the map is smaller than i thought it would be, just really easy to get turned around on. Still very fun though!
No proper introductory scene with the twins? Weird. I was really excited to get a good look at them and hear some opening dialouge. It's hard to get a good read on their personalities, themes, messaging, what their goal is in this trial when we get no "first meeting" like we have in literally every other trial, they're just kind of there all of a sudden.
Doesnt help that their voicelines are weirdly quiet and the subtitles dont show unless you're REAL CLOSE. The whole speech at the end of the trial has been without subtitles for me both times i've played it because i guess they're just too far away, so it's just unintelligible mumbling to me. (but i guess that's accurate to how having a conversation with ones grandparents usually goes)
Apart from the audio issues, they're a really cool enemy. Arora has eyes like a hawk.
Catalogue is solid, no complaints. The new podium poses and clyde perry icon (finally!!) were highlights for me.
Not sure how i feel about the new rebirth system yet, mainly because i havent had the chance to try it out, and won't for a hot minute, looking at the measly 3-5 release tokens per trial no matter the difficulty. That is confirmed to be getting adjusted though, so there's hope. The new rebirth variators sound super fun and i know mirrored maps will fuck with my head.
I've been spoiled that the new newspaper collectible are the different endings you get from doing the new rebirth and again, not sure how i feel about them. It is fun having a record of what ending you got and who you did the trial with (mughsots are such a fun detail, love it).. but at the end of the day it's just a text document and a quick little montage + voiceover that i have a feeling is gonna be the same for all of them. Idk it feels a little like putting quantity over quality, and i really really really hope this doesn't mean we won't be getting more "full" endings.
Not a fan of the fill trial function. I absolutely get why they added it, with everyone and their mother whining that the group finder doesn't work/takes too long/cancels - but i feel like it should be a proper toggle and not one that resets whenever you use the search (seriously, who thought that was a good idea?).
Also why would they turn it ON by default without warning i was so fucking confused when random people starting popping into my trial.
And i just know that thing is gonna be useless for people on last-gen systems (me) or with lower end pc setups because by the time we're actually loaded into the trial it's gonna be fucking over.
I feel the game is desperately in need of some housekeeping and QoL updates. Like.. new enemies and game modes are all well and good and i'm as hyped as the next guy, but why don't all voices have pings for Franco or the twins yet? Why cant we filter or search our cosmetics/decor? Why is Noakes still saying stuff like "you gotta get out" "you can escape" "fuck this place" when he WATCHED Amelia be strung up on the wall for WEEKS and he must know they're hunting for her co-conspirators? Why don't any of the PA's have anything to say about Henrietta/Jaeger? Why was Gooseberry seeing Amelia use an ex-pop gate important enough to get a whole motion comic, but there's been zero reference to or consequence of that? Idk, i know most of this is because it would mean having to get a lot of the VA's back to record new lines, which would be expensive, so i guess i understand why they havent. And i guess this is nitpicky but combined with relying more on the comics and trailers to carry the story (i've had beef with this since the season 3 trailer) while the characters actually in-game, apart from Easterman, feel like they're almost stagnating or at least like they're disconnected from what's happening in the current plot it just.. bugs me.

My Veilguard Rewrite Pt. 1
[The structure and main objective] Yeah this game really disappointed me. Not only was the scene-to-scene craft abysmal (unsubtle and juvenile dialogue), but they butchered my favorite lore. In service of a trite interpersonal story about “persevering against staggering odds” which was explored with much better prose by LOTR, and in a stronger adult narrative in Cyberpunk 2077 (which doesn’t have to say the word “regret” for you to feel its presence).
I pondered my orb for a while. I came up with something that is very recognizable as the original game, but it interacts with the preexisting lore closely and pins the cast against a dilemma that asks more interesting questions of them. Because Dragon Age was my favorite ongoing series for 6 years, and I need a workable ending.
@ / mythalism made a great post about how the question of the Veil is not interacted with meaningfully, and the solution forced into every ending doesn’t make sense with how the Veil is shown to work. In the comments I ended up brainstorming, which might be a Tumblr social faux pas (if it is sowwy. Lmk, I’m still getting the lay of the land). Because I agree. I was gnawing at the bars of my enclosure every five seconds begging a character to bring up the fact that, while the gods undoubtedly need to be stopped, without their power there is nothing to keep the Veil up. Solas had to trick the Evanuris into imprisoning themselves, *because* he *lacked the power* to seal them away on his own. If you have a building held up by seven load-bearing pillars, and their materials have started leaking toxic gas into the air, you can’t just bulldoze two and expect the building to not fall, and you also can’t replace those load bearing pillars with one well-placed forklift. Veilguard just ignored it and retconned most of how the Veil worked, to inorganically erase the existing conflicts and then reintroduce ones that had nothing to do with what the last three games built up to.
In light of that here’s my thought:
The Veilguard’s job/plan is to find seven individuals to participate in a ritual that will siphon the gods’ power to them, which will then allow those seven to take the place of the Evanuris in the veil structure to keep it up.
I don’t think they have that ritual solution with the details ironed out right away, but the perilous endgame of the Veilguard should be known to the characters by chapter 2.
The main axis of the RPG choices/ending variety would be the final lineup of companions and their willingness to see the ritual through to the end with you. I say at least one core companion doesn't change (Harding probably), then five in either direction of ideology, with half being more idealistic/lawful and the other half being more chaotic/individualistic (in terms of how they judge MC’s actions). Each having their own unique perspectives on spirits, magic, elves, and their culture. You may persuade or trick Solas (alongside a couple other significant NPCs), into taking a spot reducing your “needs” to 4-6.
Friendship/Rivalry:
I imagine a friendship/rivalry system similar to DA2. Persuasion/Force. They’d advance in tiers based on a combination of story choices and conversational choices with Persuasive Power being furthered by things like directly addressing companions' fears/unfinished business or forming a deep romantic relationship, and Force being furthered by setups, threats, or even eliminating these characters’ closest relationships. I picture each character having a different central hangup (it’s just 11 stories at the end of the day, weave them into main questlines as needed) and Rook’s choice becomes how they elect to get them over that hangup (if they do at all, you’ll see as I discuss endings). Then have 4-5 conditional Solas Spies, characters who will defect or betray in the final confrontation if you fail to be compelling to them. Impossible for more than three to activate in one playthrough.
Main Plot Kind-of Stays:
Main Narrative can still primarily be about killing the gods (go from two to all five besides Solythal, and have them ascend in difficulty, they can be set in thematically appropriate pairs to reduce game length). The environments they try to conquer reflect the Evanuris’ hopes and the old joys they pine for– from a combination of meeting them and Solas memories, you become more aware of who they were. Besides killing them there could be a method with which you can appeal to some gods or nonviolently outwit them. No one character can outwit them all, unless (surprise surprise) your Rook’s personality and methodology resembles Solas. This Rook learns from spending a lot of time with Solas, studying the Evanuris and spirits, swaying Dalish clans to work with them, and being more calculated with the lives of those that follow them, no matter how that choice needles them later. I think it would be appropriate for this real Solas foil route to unlock unique conversations, but it could disillusion companions to you.
In each area a god has started blighting or magically dominating, there can be a political conflict/domestic problem with 2-3 outcomes. You can ignore them in favor of just getting whatever tf you need and killing the god and then getting tf out of there (which will walk hand in hand with an ending where you let the Veil fall), or you can follow those questlines to completion, granting the area a set outcome. Some companions will be barred further behind those domestic quests, while there will be a few baseline companions that come with the area or as a point of story progress regardless of where you are. (Compare Sten or Zevran to Alistair) See pt. 2 for the faction rewrites See pt. 3 for cameo/past game tie-in rewrites See pt. 4 for endings

Sarah McLachlan & Feist – The Mann Center – Philadelphia, PA – June 26, 2024
Mother nature kept threatening to crash the party for Sarah McLachlan’s Philadelphia celebration of the 30th anniversary of her breakout album Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. In fact, the threat of rainstorms totally changed the whole setup of the show, causing opening act Feist to cut her set short – she didn’t even get the chance to play her biggest hit, “1234” before suddenly signing off early. McLachlan to also had to monkey with her set list. The rest of the tour has been made up of ten career-spanning hits at the top of the show, then the entire album of Fumbling Towards Ecstasy before a two-song encore.
In an attempt to cut off the overcast clouds that were threatening to cut loose the whole night, McLachlan came on a half-hour earlier than expected and then cut down the hits section to just three songs before stumbling into Fumbling. Of course, those three songs were all McLachlan classics – the throbbing lust of “Sweet Surrender,” the gorgeously yearning “Building a Mystery” and then the sweet aching reminiscence of “I Will Remember You.”
Then, a mere four songs into the set, there came the mysterious organ-driven intro of her breakthrough single “Possession,” – the opening track on Fumbling Towards Ecstasy – a throbbing alt-rock examination of a stalker trying to… well, possess… the singer. This was apparently based upon a real situation in the young singer’s life and the song still holds the creepy immediacy and beauty that it held when it was on the radio with great regularity in the mid-90s.

She quickly downshifted to the introspective beauty “Wait,” which looks at a shattered relationship which came close to succeeding, but now the lovers sift through the embers of their broken chances. The pace picks back up with the bittersweet dance beats of the ethereal music of "Plenty" which also explores a love gone wrong. (There were a lot of breakups and dysfunctional relationships in Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.)
She dedicated the gorgeous ballad (and the second single from the album) “Good Enough” to the women in her life, the friends and family who propped her up no matter what the world threw at her – including more of those non-functioning romantic pairings.
It’s not all sad, though, the sweet “Elsewhere” is about – as McLachlan said, “Taking the time and place to figure out who we are.” In fact, she said, “Every single one of us is beautiful” and suggested that the audience should not hide from their differences but embrace them – “let our freak flags fly.” She also suggested that it was a perfect anthem for the current pride month, and damned if she wasn’t right.
By the time she made it through towards the end of the album, from the throbbing pain of “Hold On” to an outlier on the album, the giddy-in-love song “Ice Cream,” the crowd was rapt in reminiscence of the raw power of the album. The album section closed out with the stunningly ethereal duo of confessional ballads “Fear” and album’s title track.

Since the storms held off through the show (although they came briefly and strongly soon afterwards) McLachlan was able to add two of the hits she skipped over earlier back into an extended encore.
However, she started the encore alone at the piano with a new song – “Gravity” – which will be on her upcoming album. It is a haunting piano ballad which fits in perfectly with her body of work, particularly the more contemplative songs of the encore. McLachlan explained that the song was about “the very tough challenges I faced with my first-born daughter” who had a lot of anxiety and anger until they went into family systems counselling.
The band returned to the stage for a delicate version of “Adia,” the first of the songs which was delayed from earlier in the show. Then she pulled out a more obscure song, the album track “Answer” from her Afterglow album, which fit into the gorgeous somber tone of the encore. She then bade Philadelphia farewell with the song that was arguably her biggest hit, the softly yearning “Angel,” assuring the crowd in the Mann that they may find some comfort here.
Thirty years on – actually longer, I was a huge fan of her first two albums Touch (1988) and Solace (1991), which were sadly not touched upon in this show – McLachlan’s voice is still that of an angel and her songs still feel immediate and current. To paraphrase one of the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy hits: she’s so much more than good enough.
