Logan walker:
when you first enter the kitchen for a coffee you found him there leaning against a counter looking at the floor
lord have mercy why am i nervous? that's what you thought and because of that you barely even said "yo" coming out of your mouth
Quietly nods at you in acknowledgment. Heโs not much of a talker
Then while you are making coffee you will see him trying to put the spoon in the roaster.
"LOGAN DON'T!!"
The type to quietly pass you the ketchup before you even realize you need it and this made you go "oh. thanks!" and he go nodding
while you were eating you will find him organizing his food into sections on his plate like itโs a tactical map and hime looking like he is doing an art.
this made you more and more knowing he is so cute bye
you always thought because of his calm personality he may be Arrogant because he is elias's son i mean that is the first impressions
but guess what he offers to help you settle in by carrying your gear and that surprised you and made you look stupid and he looks dumbly at you when you're flushing
i can see him as a spending time he Loves card games and casually invites you to join him for a round of UNO.
Heโs ridiculously good at bluffing, which makes sense given his silent demeanor.
He wins nearly every game, leaving you wondering if heโs secretly psychic.
Surprisingly, you were talking to each other while playing, which made you ask him in the middle of the discussion if he had ever had a partner before.
He looked at you with his dead eyes, making you wish you hadn't asked.
lmao that was just his regular look he shrugged looking at the card then spoke quietly "no...but hesh was the one who gets partners honestly" he actually started open up by saying "i mean i could but i didn't have time for that since dad used to train us" :(
HIS VOICE WAS SO COMFORT WHEN HE WAS TALKING AND YAPPING
after a hella of weeks with him he was in charge of training you, he is patient when helping you with drills. He doesnโt say much, but his feedback is always spot-on.
"You gotta stay still i can see your hips moving while you're shooting"
he sighed when you did this again "we are gonna have a looong time.." hesh said while smirking at logan who closed his eyes for connection with nature
Tries to be helpful but ends up accidentally making things harder. Like that one time he threw a training dummy at you during a reflex drill.
but you were too distracted by Riley barking in the corner and suddenly attacked him out of nowhere. You got tackled by the dummy.
You find him outside staring at the stars with Riley by his side. He doesnโt mind your company and even lets you pet Riley.
Surprisingly opens up during quiet nights. One time, while cleaning his gear, he shared a story about his dad teaching him how to fish as a kid. โI hated it at the time cause i fell unconsciously in the water, but nowโฆ I kinda miss it.โ
It caught you off guard but made you appreciate how much depth there is to him.
Has a secret stash of snacks in the base, which you accidentally discover one night. He doesnโt get mad, just sighs and says, โYou can have one. One.โ he warned you๐บ
Starts inviting you whenever he go to the bar after a succeful mission with the team "i think it would be great if you come with us not sitting here in boredom".
LORD HAVE MERCY he shocked with a small smile in the bar while you were talking which made you think that mf smile like us?
he is so sweet but you can't see this since he is so straight to his tasks no jokes, no laughs thats what the ghosts are
Gives you a once-over, arms crossed, and deadpans, โ Another rookie. Try not to trip over yourself, yeah?โ
he thought you won't go last here lol
and he thought it like that in the training โWhat are you doing? Thatโs not cover. Thatโs standing awkwardly behind a fucking barrel you gotta be fucking kidding me.โ Heโll roast you relentlessly
but then show you exactly how to fix your mistakes, complete with sarcastic commentary.
"i bet you were shoved in lockers as a kid" you thought you got rid of merrick but kick is here
Heโs the guy barking at you during obstacle courses, making sure you donโt slack off. โMove faster! You think the enemyโs gonna wait for you to climb a wall?โ
even though you're doing your best he is just trying to wake you up by what he think
"the last soldier i was in charge of you made him look like a superhero to me"
Doesnโt pull punchesโliterally or figuratively. If you mess up during sparring, heโll call you out. โCโmon, kid, is that all you got?โ
But when you finally land a hit on him, he smirks and says, โNot bad. Donโt let it go to your head.โ
and then he flips you on the floor like a burrito
Once you found him checking on the computer and it was clearly a report. "man shut up no one gives a darn about riley eating biscuit" hesh
"hey kick where i can find papers?"
"in the locker." he said simply then when you opened you were shocked by how many computers and keyboards in there "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT WINDOWS 98?"
"yeah i can't throw that masterpiece" he said proudly smirking looking at you resting on his chair
"no DO NOT touch that retro keyboard unless I tell you to!"
once you found him Reads books like spy thrillers or military history during his free time.
He pretends not to care when you ask about them, but five minutes later, heโs explaining the entire plot of The Hunt for Red October with surprising enthusiasm.
Eats like itโs a mission. No small talk, just shovels food like he hasnโt eaten in a week.
Heโll occasionally toss a sarcastic comment your way, like, โYou gonna finish that, or are you on a diet?โ
Joins you in the common are He doesnโt say much at first but eventually opens up with a dry joke or two.
โIf you think today was bad, wait until Merrick decides a mission Afghanistan. Youโll wish for combat drills.โ
Doesnโt usually talk about himself, but when he does, itโs in the form of dry, understated remarks.
โIโve seen worse places than this base. Like that time I got stuck in a swamp for two days. Donโt recommend it.โ You canโt tell if heโs joking or not.
letting you take the last slice of pizza during dinner. He doesnโt say anything just looking at you blankly
"..."
"..."
"ok have it"
you catch him smirking when you thank him. โDonโt get used to it.โ
Heโs the one who bluntly points out where youโre lacking. โYour reaction time is decent, but youโre slow on target acquisition. Fix that, or youโll be a liability.โ

Pull The Shot. Steam The Milk. Repeat. [david/others, E, 48,202] by @treluna4
Right at the beginning of Davidโs junior year of college, his dadโs business partner literally took the money and ran, and the Roses were left with nothing. Without any other options, his parents moved to some tiny Canadian town his dad apparently bought in the โ90s and his sister eloped with her boyfriend Stavros. As his parents could only afford the one motel room and classes were already paid for, David decided to stay where he was. He moved in with his friend Stevie and got a job at the Schitt Family Coffee Roasters south campus location. David was less than thrilled by this job prospect, but no one else was hiring and rent was a thing now, so he gathered what little self-respect he had left and prepared to meet his new manager, Patrick. But as it turned out, David had met him once before. Under very, very different circumstances. ***** Or; the hookup-to-friends-to-lovers college coffee shop AU that no one asked for.

Clutch [david/patrick, G, 599] by @fakingsincerity
David tries to settle himself in the corner of the couch, tea aromatic on the side table next to him. He pulls his feet up under himself and takes the quilt from its spot on the back of the couch to wrap around his shoulders. Itโs too quiet. His mind is too loud. The bottoms of his feet itch - no, the tops. David rolls his neck across his shoulders, the crunch echoing. Itโs becoming rapidly clear what itโll take to get any rest tonight. David is home alone while Patrick spends the night at the hospital for monitoring. Anxious and unable to sleep, he turns to an unlikely source for comfort.

Drop Coffee, Queenstown
Drinks pictured: Almond flat white ($6) and hot chocolate ($5).
Was in Queenstown the last few days and got to try some coffee there. The first was Drop Coffee which is inside this little alleyway. They use beans from Wolf Coffee Roasters and also do toasties. I enjoyed my almond milk flat white and my partner said the hot chocolate was one of the best he had ever had! It's a small place, with a few seats inside and some two-seater tables in the alleyway.

The Rosebud Diamond by @vivianblakesunrisebay
Patrick is a detective. David is his mysterious client. Thereโs a priceless diamond, a masquerade ball, murder, thievery, blackmail, secrets, betrayal, gangsters, smoking, whiskey, and angst galore. (And a happy ending.) Itโs a film noir AU.

By the time Twyla reaches her, her cheeks pink and her breath labored, her french braids are coming undone and thereโs a twig stuck in one of them. Or, Stevie and Twyla were childhood best friends.
falling into place like dominos by @petalwritesx
David and Patrick hold a second housewarming party, this time at their newly-renovated cottage. For old times' sake, they decide to play spin the bottle. as my local nature center is out of stock (potentially forever--/stares blankly at the wall), I have switched to using the Canadian roaster that I used for my parents' xmas gift last year for my coffee needs -- birds and beans.
it is certified as bird-friendly by the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center (the specific criteria are kinda interesting), and is organic, fair trade, shade-grown, small family farms/cooperatives, compostable bags, etc.
the roasters have recently partnered with Audubon (their online bird guide is the best one out there) to sell within the U.S., donating a portion of the proceeds, which is convenient for me.
I'm trying the light and medium roasts. I'm still too scared of the Starbucks-ification of dark roasts, so I'm staying away from that for now. [their Canadian site still has a greater variety of roasts than the Audubon selections, so maybe I'll order directly from them in the future and just make a donation to Audubon myself.]
[I have a coupon if you want one]
[this is not an ad. I just like coffee, birds, and supporting charitable organizations and small businesses.]

1. What proportion of your meals do you cook? 49. How do you take your morning coffee/tea? 64. Where are you on the minimalism-maximalism kinsey scale?
1 - alternate answer!
last week, from monday through sunday, out of every breakfast, lunch, and dinner i ate, 17 were hot -- "cooked" -- and 4 were cold; of the 17 hot meals, 6 used the oven without using the stove; additionally, baked 4 desserts.
so 17/21, or 11/21 depending on how you count baking.
49 - 28 grams of coffee beans, chemex, double-walled glass mug, no additions.
partner gets one half and i get the other, divided with a scale because the precision entertains me. usually drink one cup (~230g) right after running, and a second one around 10am. on days that partner works from the office, i still make a second round of coffee, but then i get to drink both of them.
when it's very hot in the summer, partner makes japanese-style-style iced coffee, but i don't have the coordination to get the ice inside the chemex. i don't usually drink lattes, but i do like them; i have them occasionally in the winter.
all of that makes me sound like a wanker, probably, and i mean, i am. i have opinions on 'washed' vs 'anaerobic' coffees. i am also pretty broad in what i like, though; i have the great luck of living near 2 coffee shops that stock some huge list of local/national/international roasters, so i just buy whatever looks cool when i need another bag of beans. this has only failed me 1 time in the last 4 years, when we got a bag that tasted like olives.
64 - i am an inherently messy person, but my former housemates have described me as 'very clean and neat' and 'i didn't realize it until you moved out but you were the person controlling all the chaos'. that is to say, my inherent tendencies are towards poorly-implemented maximalism but i function better in an environment with less stuff in it.
they're both fine, as long as there's a good understanding of scale, negative space, proportion... with the caveat i genuinely can't move in cramped spaces, similar to how i can't move in thick winter jackets; fucks with my proprioception.
i'm conflating multiple concepts. there's maximalism/minimalism as in 'stuff/not stuff', but there's also maximalism/minimalism as in 'details complicated/details simple', 'yes patterns & textures & colors/no patterns & textures & colors'.
fucking love patterns & textures & colors; dorothy draper and yayoi kusama both. prefer simple details.
equally maximalist and minimalist, leaning towards predominantly minimalist with more than incidental maximalist tendencies.
i'm acutely aware that i need to clean right now and instead of doing that i've written long-ass answers
#i wish i had a cute food tag#this is what happens when you leave a work of art out in the rain#ask meme for people in their 30s

Coffee Roaster
Introduction:
In the ever-growing coffee industry, having the right equipment is crucial to ensuring the quality and consistency of your coffee products. For businesses looking to elevate their offerings, investing in a Coffee Roaster is a game-changer. Whether you're a cafรฉ, restaurant, or wholesale distributor, choosing the right coffee roaster from a trusted supplier like Kaapi Machines can significantly impact the flavor profile of your coffee and boost your sales. This guide explores why Coffee Roasters are essential for your B2B operations and how Kaapi Machines can help you make the right choice.
Why a Coffee Roaster is Essential for Your Business
For any coffee-focused business, the ability to roast beans in-house offers numerous advantages, from enhanced control over flavor profiles to increased profitability. Let's look at the benefits of owning a Coffee Roaster:

The Importance of Partnering with Reliable Bulk Coffee Beans Suppliers
Coffee remains one of the most consumed beverages worldwide, and its quality can significantly influence a brand's reputation. For businesses involved in coffee roasting or distribution, sourcing high-quality coffee beans is a non-negotiable. Bulk coffee beans suppliers play a vital role in providing consistent quality, ensuring that the beans meet specific flavor, aroma, and freshness standards.

Reliable suppliers often maintain strict quality control protocols, enabling their clients to deliver premium products to end consumers. Additionally, bulk purchasing options help businesses reduce costs and streamline their supply chain, which is particularly beneficial in a competitive marketplace.
The Role of Bulk Agricultural Product Exporters in Global Trade
Agricultural products encompass a wide spectrum, including grains, nuts, spices, and oils, which are fundamental to the global food industry. Bulk agricultural product exporters serve as vital links connecting producers in farming regions with international markets. They facilitate large-volume transactions that help meet the demands of food processors, supermarkets, and distributors worldwide.
Choosing the right exporter ensures that the products are handled with care, stored properly, and shipped efficiently to preserve quality. These exporters often have extensive logistics networks and inspection procedures to guarantee that exported goods meet international standards. For businesses seeking reliable sources of agricultural commodities, partnering with experienced exporters can mean the difference between success and supply chain disruptions.

Is Your Coffee Habit Sustainable? Ethical Concerns Every Coffee Drinker Should Know
Coffee is one of the most beloved beverages in the world, but have you ever wondered about the journey your cup of coffee takes before it reaches you? Beyond the rich aroma and energizing effects, the coffee industry faces serious ethical and sustainability challenges. From deforestation and unfair wages to excessive water usage and carbon emissions, your daily brew may have a bigger impact than you think. Letโs explore the key sustainability concerns in coffee production and how you can make more ethical choices.
The Hidden Costs of Your Daily Coffee 1. Deforestation and Environmental Damage Coffee farming is a major driver of deforestation, particularly in countries like Brazil, Colombia, and Vietnam. As demand for coffee grows, forests are being cleared to make way for new plantations. This not only destroys habitats for wildlife but also contributes to climate change by reducing the planetโs ability to absorb carbon dioxide. Many coffee farms also rely on monoculture planting, which depletes soil nutrients and leads to increased use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. These chemicals can contaminate local water supplies, harming both the environment and nearby communities. 2. Water Usage and Pollution Did you know that it takes about 140 liters (37 gallons) of water to produce a single cup of coffee? Coffee cultivation is a water-intensive process, and in many regions, excessive water use for irrigation contributes to droughts and water scarcity. Additionally, the traditional coffee processing method (wet milling) generates large amounts of wastewater, which often contains harmful organic matter and chemicals. If not treated properly, this wastewater pollutes rivers and lakes, endangering aquatic life and local drinking water sources. Coffee Alternatives that use sustainable ingredients like dandelion, chicory, barley and rye, use 96% less water to produce than coffee. 3. Fair Wages and Labor Exploitation The people who grow and harvest coffee often face significant financial hardships. Small-scale farmers, who produce about 80% of the worldโs coffee, struggle with fluctuating coffee prices that barely cover their production costs. In some regions, coffee laborersโespecially women and childrenโwork in unsafe conditions for extremely low wages. The lack of fair trade practices leaves many farmers vulnerable to exploitation by large coffee corporations. 4. Carbon Footprint and Climate Change The coffee supply chain has a significant carbon footprint due to transportation, processing, and packaging. Beans are often shipped long distances from coffee-growing regions to roasters and consumers worldwide, adding to carbon emissions. Moreover, many coffee brands use non-recyclable packaging, contributing to plastic waste. Single-use coffee pods, for example, generate millions of tons of plastic and aluminum waste each year.
How to Make Your Coffee Habit More Sustainable 1. Choose Ethical & Sustainable Brands Look for certifications such as:
Fair Trade Certified: Ensures farmers receive fair wages and work in safe conditions.
Rainforest Alliance Certified: Supports environmentally friendly farming practices.
Organic: Reduces pesticide use and promotes soil health.
Shade-Grown: Protects forests and biodiversity by preserving natural tree cover.
2. Reduce Waste with Reusable Coffee Gear
Opt for a reusable coffee filter instead of disposable paper filters.
Use a refillable coffee pod instead of single-use plastic ones.
Bring a reusable travel mug to your favorite coffee shop to cut down on disposable cup waste.
3. Support Small Farmers & Direct Trade Coffee Buying directly from small-scale farmers or cooperatives ensures they get a fair price for their beans. Many specialty coffee roasters partner with farmers through direct trade, offering better wages and sustainable farming support. 4. Try a Coffee Alternative If youโre looking to reduce your environmental footprint, consider switching to a caffeine-free herbal coffee alternative like Nummy Creations. This herbal coffee is made from sustainably sourced ingredients like chicory root, dandelion, barley and rye, offering a rich and satisfying coffee-like taste without the ethical concerns of traditional coffee production.
