Excerpt:
I keep sitting here, staring into my water, hoping that maybe I’ll find an answer to my issues, but none comes. Eventually, when the 5:00 train comes rumbling through, I grab my bag and keys, leave a note, and head out the door.
The lobby is empty, and so are the streets when I initially start my trek through the city. No one bothers me by the time I reach the piers, and I’m thankful for it.
The sun rises as I stand under a shop awning, looking out to the sea. The first time I saw it, I was crying, and over time, I became aware of its beauty. Now, though, I hardly feel anything. It’s as much a constant in my life as the sunset, and no matter how much I will myself to look at it with awe once again, I can’t muster a bit of feeling.
I make my way to the Workshop before I’m fully aware of where I want to go, and as I approach, I see the silhouette of Beta on the front steps, punching in the code.
“Morning, sir,” I call out, softly enough so as not to disturb the other people beginning to walk the streets. The craftsman turns to me, a smile lighting his wrinkled face as the door opens.
“Good morning, Nimbus,” he greets me as I walk up beside him. “Sleep troubles again?”
“Yeah.” I walk into the foyer with him, taking the bag from my shoulder and dropping it on the stool in the entryway. I used to try and hide my insomnia from him, too, but when I found him tinkering here at 2:30 in the morning a while back, the understanding that we were in the same boat passed between us.
Beta hums. “You know, there’s a Goblin medication that helps with sleep.”
I look to him. “Why don’t you take it, then?”
“Less people want to talk to you at night, I find.”
Aesthetics:
“How can you even call that a rebellion?”

This got . . . stupidly long. Like 1900 words long. Every time I do prompts, they get longer. One day I’ll be writing novels again.
Anyway.

63.) Routine Kisses Where The Other Person Presents Their Cheek/Forehead For The Hello/Goodbye Kiss Without Even Looking Up From What They’re Doing + 64.) Being Unable To Open Their Eyes For A Few Moments Afterward
Gripping the edge of the sleek marble countertop, Hanzo sucks in a deep breath, lets it out slowly, and levels a glare at his reflection in the mirror.
His reflection glowers back: his already-stern eyebrows drawn over his eyes, mouth turned down into a deep frown, the very antithesis of the happy fiancé he is supposed to be. Stop being pathetic, he instructs his mirrored counterpart, and himself. It does nothing to ease the ache in his chest and he slumps, defeated, over the sink.
Just outside the door and some thirty feet back is McCree. Hanzo had left him lounging in the hotel bar in their little corner table, nursing a bourbon and browsing an article on his phone. Ostensibly, they were waiting for their target to show so they can plant a bug and leave, but Hanzo had had to dismiss himself when his chest began to ache.
Three days of this. Three days of pretending to be engaged, which in turn meant three days of false affection, constant proximity, ridiculous pet names, and pretending to be irritated to cover how much he is actually pleased by it all.
Undercover fiances. What an absolute joke of a cover. In what way, truly, was this any more effective than simply arriving at the event as companions? What purpose did it serve to spend three days pretending McCree is his husband-to-be except to torture him? Perhaps this was some form of punishment for his past sins, a subtle method employed by a secretly bitter Winston to punish him for his past crimes against Genji.
Except Winston didn’t have a cruel bone in his body, nor half the social awareness required to even be aware of Hanzo’s predicament in the first place, and this hotel was such a popular honeymoon destination resort that it would simply raise fewer eyebrows for a couple to spend the night than a pair of men in a platonic friendship.
Hanzo sighs deeply. It is no one’s fault but his own that he has ended up here. Pining for someone he does not deserve, failing to quash those feelings when they first arose months ago, failing to put even the barest of distance between himself and his interactions with McCree--those were his mistakes alone, as are the consequences.
He takes another deep breath and tries to school his features into something that isn’t the absolute pinnacle of misery. He ends up with something approaching neutral. It will have to do.
He exits the bathroom, returning to the ridiculously sleek, gilded hotel lounge. McCree is just where he left him, idly scrolling through a news article on his phone. He looks up as Hanzo resumes his seat and smiles warmly, as though as though Hanzo’s return has truly brought him joy.
“Welcome back, sweetness,” he says. He reaches his hand across the table, palm-up, and Hanzo doesn’t think twice before taking it. These simple displays of affection had been an adjustment at first, but now he craves them like nothing else. “Everything alright? You were gone for a few.”
“Of course,” Hanzo replies smoothly.
That smile again, as though Hanzo has done something worthy of it. McCree returns to his article. “You didn’t miss much,” he says. “Startin’ to think this might have been a bust.”
“I am inclined to agree.” Hanzo downs the remains of his vodka tonic, watery with the ice that melted while he had a minor breakdown in the bathroom. “But we still have some time here. It would be a shame to waste it entirely.”
“That’s true.” McCree’s thumb strokes mindlessly over the backs of Hanzo’s knuckles. Something in Hanzo’s chest squeezes, too tight, and he gets to his feet.
“I am going to go for a walk,” Hanzo announces, a simple code for I am going to go scout out the area.
“Alright. You need any company?” McCree’s gaze barely flicks up from his phone. He may genuinely be engrossed in his article, but Hanzo knows better than to believe McCree is any less aware of his surroundings.
Yes, Hanzo thinks immediately, unable to shake the disgustingly romantic notion of walking along the piers with McCree at his side.
“No,” he says aloud. “I will not be long.” He trails his hand across McCree’s shoulders as he passes. “I will meet you back in our room soon.”
“Alright.” Then McCree does something odd: he tips his face up a bit, toward Hanzo but with his eyes still glued to his phone, and pauses as though he is waiting for something.
And Hanzo does something odd, too, in that even though he recognizes that something is not quite right, he still dips down and presses a dry kiss to McCree’s forehead before he departs.
He gets a few steps away from the table before he fully realizes what he has just done, and it takes every ounce of self-control not to break stride. He can feel McCree’s gaze burning between his shoulders as he walks away and he fights not to look back, afraid of what he will see on McCree's face if he turns back.
In spite of everything they have had to do these past few days, no form of kissing had been a part of it, and Hanzo had just broken that so easily that they might as well not have been faking at all.
His lips tingle faintly with the memory of the warmth of McCree’s skin. Hanzo walks faster once he gets through the front doors, taking long strides down the sidewalk and around dozens of other tourists to put distance between himself and his mistakes.
--
Surprisingly, the mission wraps up later that evening, the bug successfully planted and transferring valuable information back to Athena to be combed through later. Hanzo and McCree elect to stay the last night, rounding out their week and taking advantage of one night to relax.
The first part of the day passes quickly with the tension of their work, but once the dust settles and they retire to their suite for the night, Hanzo starts to feel nervous. Their suite is not small by any means, but now it feels constricting, trapping him with nowhere to hide with the weight of his stupid kiss hanging overhead. He can feel McCree’s eyes on him as they move about the space in their nighttime rituals.
“What?” he finally snaps after the fourth time he has caught McCree staring, only for McCree to look away and pretend to be doing anything but.
McCree winces, caught out, but he doesn’t try to make an excuse this time. He finishes folding a t-shirt and sets it on top of his duffel bag, considering it for such a long moment that Hanzo wonders if he managed to forget he was asked a question.
“I was thinking,” he says finally. “Or, well, wondering about something.”
The air evaporates from Hanzo’s lungs. He turns away to the wide desk on his side of the room, pretending to be invested in his tablet. “And that requires staring at me?”
“Maybe doesn’t require it, but . . .” He trails off, wrestling with some internal dilemma, then asks, “Did you mean to kiss me earlier today?”
And there it is. Hanzo bites back a sigh, taps at a random app on his tablet to maintain the air of nonchalance. “It was part of our cover,” he says simply.
“Okay. ‘Cept that hadn’t really been a part of it, until then.”
It strikes Hanzo then just how ridiculous this conversation is. “I do not know what else to say,” he says coolly. “We have a cover to maintain. I maintained it as we have the last several days. I do not see what difference it makes.”
“Three reasons.” Hanzo finally looks back, curious in spite of himself. McCree meets his eye “One,” he says, “as I just said, kissing wasn’t a part of the deal unless it was some sort of emergency. Between that and you disappearing for ten minutes beforehand, it makes me wonder.”
“That was dif--”
“Two, I’ve run a couple covers like this before, and sometimes when you do it for more than a day or two, someone gets a little more invested than they mean. Feelings can run a little high, even if it doesn’t mean much, and it can be awkward later. So if that’s what’s happening, I’d like to know so we can sort it out now rather than later. And three . . .”
McCree suddenly finds his folded t-shirt very interesting again. He picks idly at the fabric, takes a deep breath, and says, “Three, I may have been enjoying this whole thing a lot more than I should be, and not because I only just now got invested, so I wouldn’t mind it if that were the case for you, too.”
Hanzo feels his jaw drop slightly with surprise. He is unsure whether to be relieved or alarmed or some combination of the two. McCree still doesn’t look at him, fiddling with the shirt, his shoulders slowly drawing up until they nearly reach his ears.
Hanzo swallows. He takes a few steps closer to the bed and licks his lips. “And if I said that were true?” he asks.
McCree’s head snaps up. He searches Hanzo’s face for something, perhaps some hint that he may be lying. A tentative smile pulls up one corner of his mouth. “In that case,” he says slowly, “I’d say there’s a lot to talk about, but for now I wouldn’t mind you doin’ it again.”
Hanzo closes the gap between them, putting himself in McCree’s space. He takes the stupid t-shirt out of his hands and sets it aside on the bed. McCree lets him, his eyes never leaving Hanzo’s, waiting. Hanzo’s heart beats against his ribs, not with nerves but anticipation.
He thinks of McCree secretly wanting this just as much as he has--wanting a dozen things that were off-limits, quietly aching with an affection he felt he had to hide, unaware just as Hanzo was of the truth of the matter.
He reaches up, wrapping his hand around the back of McCree’s neck, and he barely has to guide him down into a proper kiss.
It’s not quite perfect, contrary to Hanzo’s childish daydreaming about how it might be. It’s a little awkward and stilted, two men who haven’t been with another in years feeling out each other. But it’s soft and sincere, and the second one is better, and the third one better still.
By the time they break, McCree’s hands have found their way to Hanzo’s hips, and Hanzo’s fingers are threaded through McCree’s hair. Hanzo opens his mouth to speak, but is surprised that McCree seems to be stuck in a brief stasis, his eyes still closed even after the kiss ends. Hanzo has a couple of seconds to take in the faint flush on McCree’s tan cheeks, the dusty brown of his lashes, and even a few faint, barely-there freckles scattered across the tops of his cheeks before McCree’s eyes flutter open and meet his again.
Hanzo forgets what he meant to say. McCree grins wryly and says, “Now think how good our actin’ would have been if we’d figured this out at the start.”
Hanzo laughs softly. “We still have to leave undetected in the morning,” he points out. “I am sure we will have plenty of chances to convince any non-believers of our relationship.”
“That’s true.” McCree tugs him closer, pulls them together chest to chest. “Hope you don’t mind, but I plan to take every last opportunity to show ‘em.”

Future Plot: Project Titanomachy - Epilogue Part 2

Camille still keeps Athena’s spear at the now-possessed Chaodis. She just wanted to go home and end her hero’s journey, but Athena’s last words were a warning she is forced to heed. And she finds herself going after Chaodis and Eris, unraveling the truths and lies about the relationship between him and the goddess Eris.
(( Background Music - Vs. Chaodis, Possessed by Chaos: https://youtu.be/bTHBn4MTwdo ))
Camille knows the trireme ship’s trying to get out of the Underworld by taking the river Styx to leave. She noticed the steering wheel maneuvering the ship has no one controlling it so she points at the wheel and strikes it with lightning. The wheel spins rapidly before breaking into pieces. The trireme ship is now heading towards a massive waterfall that leads to the deepest parts of the underworld.
Chaodis staggered, but soon regain control of his balance and charged at Camille. The threw in a few swords thrusts, some swipes, and many slashes. He occasionally used Eris’s Golden Apple of Chaos to make illusions and stacks an attack with it as a combo.
Camille uses Aegis to defend herself but knew her blue barriers would just break. So she saved Aegis for the illusions and mixed what she learned in capoeira into her combat, dodging the attacks with ease. She even managed to get on her two hands, grab the sword with her feet, and disarm him along with a kick to the face. She then backed up and delivered thrusts with Athena’s spear.
Chaodis still had Eris’s Apple of Chaos and he splits them up into 16 pieces, and he divides up into 16 duplicates. It was almost impossible to figure out who is the real Chaodis.
Camille kept her guard up and tried to dodge any swift attacks that the possessed Choadis would perform, but she fails to avoid all them. Chaodis and the duplicated were all laughing at how Camille can’t figure out who’s the real target while defending herself.
Rage was building up in Camille, so she released it by twirling her spear, raising it up, and stabbing it to the ground. This created a pulse of lighting that wiped out the duplicates and push Chaodis back. He hits a mast and collapses, the divides apple is formed back into one.
Chaodis gets back up and grabbed the apple. He gets back up and plucks another feather to make another sword, but Camille disarms him with just one lightning strike. Camille began walking towards him. Chaodis performed a few illusions, but the lightning strikes wiped them into mists that drift aside. As Camille got closer, the ships end up getting stuck in between a few rocks at the edge of the waterfall. Below the waterfall is an endless darkness.
This didn’t stop Chaodis from fighting, but Camille knew they had to get off the ship.
“Chaodis, Eris, we need to get off this ship, like right now!” Camille tried to convince them. “If you’re going to be staying with the gold and silver like this, both of you will die!”
“And so will you, because I want Chaodis to take you with us!” Eris speaking through Choadis’s voice.
“Do you realize what I’ve been through, you twisted squid!?” Camille didn’t want to argue in this situation, but she snapped. “Making me show up in a dress!? The way we were about to kiss!? Give him the stone for your needs!? I’m been through enough! You’re a twist old squid hag!?”
Eris has other things up her sleeves while possessing Chaodis. “You know Chaodis has told me of your goal, so tell me if this is twisted. Camille and her friends reignite a Hero’s flame and save Inkopolis from Leviathan.”
Eris makes Chaodis use his claws to swipe at Camille who backs up in response.
“Camille and and her friends defy false gods on the island of the Galapagos to rid it of a fabricated reality!” Eris continued.
Chaodis is told to swipe at Camille again, and she dodges.
“Don’t you remind me of those!” Camille threatened. “They’re different from what I’m going through in this!”
Yet, Eris continued: “And Camille and her friends liberate an entire empire from a corrupted republic in the name of an Emperor that fell in love with her cousin!”
Chaodis swipes at Camille one more, and Camille kicks him away.
Eris continued: “Camille...Camille! Camille! Camille! She’s a hero, but she doesn’t care about that title. Look at you... Serving Athena and Zeus, carrying the spirit of an Amazon Queen, fought Titans and horrors influenced by Typhon. But you want to know who’s behind causing all this? ME! So you can blame me for the deaths of one of your friends and your girlfriend!” She mentioned Emerald and Sapphire.
((Transition to this BGM: The Story is (not) Over: https://youtu.be/l91rfBdd5SM ))
As Eris laughs, that last sentence was going to be her last. Camille soon screams in anger and strike one more lightning at Chaodis, one that’s huge enough and strong enough to pulls Eris out of his body. The lightning was no directed at Eris and it started to turn her into ashes.
“This is for making Rhea kill Sapphire!” Camille zaps Eris again. “This is for making Chaodis manipulate Emerald and leading her to her death!” She zaps another time. “This is for putting my friends and family through all this!!” She zaps several times. “AND THIS--IS--FOR--EVERYTHING--ELSE--YOU--SQUID HAG!!!!”
Eris was soon nothing but ashes and feather. All that’s left is the Golden Apple of Chaos, her artifact. Camille retrieves it so that she can return it to the Olympic Vault. She then retrieved the Omphalos Stone from Chaodis.
((End of BGM))
Camille was breathing, trying to cool down after taking her anger on Eris. With that goddess now dead after centuries of hiding, Chaodis collapses but Camille ran over to him and helps him up.
There was still a heartbeat. Camille sigh with relief.
“....Thank you...” Chaodis replied after regaining consciousness. “........But oh how wrong I was.....”
Camille now knew Chaodis was being used, manipulated by Eris to act like son she ever had. But her evil intentions were exposed, and Chaodis is now just a lost squid.
“Chaodis... I forgive you.....” Camille holds him close, something she might do only once for someone.
“No...” Chaodis lightly pushed her away. “You may forgive me,.... but this world would say otherwise...”
“There must be a way to--” Camille was cut off a gesture made by Chaodis.
“I’m afraid you’ve done enough.” Chaodis shook his head. “It’s not like you to be concerned about me.”
“.....I understand.” Camille looks down.
“Just do one more request for me... Kill me,” Chaodis asked.
(( Background Music: My Unaccepted Apology to You: https://youtu.be/65q6H3LC46U ))
Camille didn’t want to do that; there were already enough lives lost on this journey. This squid, her racing competitor, her once new friend, her ally, her love interest, and now her enemy. Is it worth take the life of this kind of squid? Camille thought.
Her mixed up feeling pained her, having to choose between the choice of sparing the boy that loved her and offered her so much and the choice of killing the boy that manipulated her and betrayed her.
There was only a few thing to say. She held him close. “Just one more thing..... I love you...” She was close enough to use a dagger attached to her belt and stab Chaodis right in the gut.
Chaodis gasped, but soon closed his eyes and smiled. He relaxed as if the stab wound wasn’t there. He lets go of Camille and places a hand on her cheek.
“Don’t cry... we’ll meet again in this world of the next........Here’s looking at you, squid...” Chaodis said those as his last word before backing up and going overboard.
Camille runs over to rails and watched as Chaodis plunges into the deepest parts of the Underworld, an endless darkness. Soon the rocks that are preventing the ship from falling were about to break, and Camille had to escape fast, but a conscious Charon was able to row the boat away from the waterfall. The ferryman turns the ship around, realizing the errors he made and how foolish he was to take Eris’ bribe.
Once back at the Underworld piers, Camille rejoined with Nebula, Telemachus and Agent 7. Hecate was there with a few undead servants and daemons to get the golds and silver back to the seventh sector of the underworld.
There was no time to explain what happened as Camille grew silent. The only response she gave was “I’ll be fine. Let’s go home.”
The journey is finally over.
The Olympian Vault - Hephaestus's Forge, Mount Olympus, Greece - 12:00 Midnight
Agent 7, Nebula, and Telemachus were in the vault returning the Nemean Lion Cloak, Poseidon’s Trident, Triton’s Conch Shell, Hades’s Helmet, and the Key to the Underworld back on their pedestals.
Camille was still outside the vault, holding the Omphalos Stone. The Spirit Camilla and Athena appeared before her.
“What ideas are you having with the stone?” Camilla questioned.
“What does this thing do really?” Camille asked.
“It was meant to grant Eurynome’s and Ophion’s powers,” Athena explained, “I wields the powers that all the gods and goddesses possess.”
“..... This maybe so much I can do with this...” Camille then thought of Sapphire and Emerald. “But I can’t use such a thing... but for one thing. I want to use it to bring back Sapphire and Emerald.” Camille holds the Omphalos Stone out. “Eurynome! Ophion! If you can hear me, I want Sapphy and Emmy back!”
The silver stone soon flickered, and in morse code, it said: “Granted”. Then there was one flash. Camille covered her eyes for a moment and stopped when the brightness faded. She wonders if it worked.
Hephaestus came out of the vault. Athena and Camilla quickly fade away. “Miss Squidly, Athena’s Spear and Zeus’s Thunderbolt.”
“Oh...” Camille thought the stone didn’t work, so she handed the Omphalos Stone to him. “Sorry for the holdup.”
“It’s alright.” Hephaestus looked at the stone. “I’ll have Hermes return this to Mount Othrys.”
Camille enters the vault and place Athena’s spear back in her pedestal. The spear moved to point at the pedestal next to it, and it shoot lightning at it. Now there’s a lightning bolt on the pedestal of Zeus.
A cyclops enters the vault. “Hephaestus, mortals! It’s a miracle.”
The cyclops later takes them to the tomb where Sapphire’s body and Emerald’s body rests. Agent 0 and Sylver were there to visit the graves once more but were not hugging their children, Emerald and Sapphire. Camille is shocked; the Omphalos Stone did work.
When Emerald and Sapphire noticed Camille, they run up to her and Nebula. The four had a group hug, being happy that they’re reunited.
Hephaestus didn’t know how this happened, but then looked at the Omphalos Stone. He looks back at the reunited friends.
Hephaestus smiles.

The Armory Show is the most prestigious international art fair held annually in New York City devoted to showcasing the most important artworks of the 20th and 21st centuries. In its thirteen years The Armory Show with The Armory Show – Modern has become an international institution, combining a selection of the world's leading galleries with an exceptional program of art events and exhibitions throughout New York City during Armory Arts Week. Piers 92 & 94 will feature 275 leading contemporary and modern art galleries from 31 countries presenting an exceptional range of solo presentations, tightly curated exhibitions and not to be missed installations. This year marks the second edition of our Focus section, the invitation-only component of The Armory Show that highlights the very best in emerging and established galleries from a notable art community.
THE ARMORY SHOW AND ATHENA ART FINANCE ANNOUNCE MARIANE IBRAHIM GALLERY AS THE WINNER OF THE PRESENTS BOOTH PRIZE
The Somalian, Seattle-based gallerist is exhibiting a solo-presentation by Ghanaian artist Zohra Opoku
The Armory Show and Athena Art Finance Corp. are pleased to announce Mariane Ibrahim Gallery (Seattle) as the winner of the inaugural Presents Booth Prize.
The Presents Booth Prize, supported in its inaugural year by Athena Art Finance, is a new initiative recognizing an outstanding and innovative gallery presentation within the Presents section of the fair.
By a majority decision, the international jury of collectors and curators awarded Mariane Ibrahim Gallery a $10,000 prize for its exemplary solo-presentation of multi-media works by Zohra Opoku, a German and Ghanaian multidisciplinary artist living and working in Accra. Opoku’s work employs media including installations, photography and video to explore the sophistication of textile cultures in disparate spaces, targeting fashion’s political and psychological role and socio-cultural dynamics in relation to African history and individualistic or societal identities.
Members of the Presents Booth Prize Jury:
Renee Drake, collector, the Netherlands
Massimiliano Gioni, Artistic Director, New Museum, New York
Ruba Katrib, Curator, SculptureCenter, Long Island City
Alain Servais, Collector, Brussels
Carole Server, Collector, New York
“We would like to thank The Armory Show for giving us the opportunity to present our project,” says Mariane Ibrahim-Lenhardt, Founder, Mariane Ibrahim Gallery. “We are deeply humbled and honored to receive this prize. I'd like to dedicate it to the presented artist Zohra Opoku, whose commitment and excellence in her art practice has helped bring new narratives into an exciting global narrative. And, this Present Prize also aligns with the recognition of African descent contributions in the arts industry.”
“Athena is delighted to congratulate Mariane Ibrahim Gallery on winning the Armory’s first-ever Booth Prize,” says Andrea Danese, Chief Executive Officer of Athena Art Finance. “We are also pleased that our sponsorship of the prize and partnership with The Armory Show has resulted in a robust process that evaluated 30 galleries, all of which have emerged and should be noted as significant young galleries. Nurturing these new entrants in the market, and supporting more established galleries and dealers
through our new gallery financing program, is a natural extension of Athena’s mission to support the full spectrum of the global art market as a leading lender and provider of financial solutions.”
“Promoting young galleries and nurturing their growth is central to The Armory Show’s vision,” says Benjamin Genocchio, Executive Director of The Armory Show. “We are so thrilled to have this exceptional jury of curators and collectors here supporting this initiative and thankful to Athena Art Finance for their generous and enthusiastic support. Each of our participating Presents galleries deserves recognition for their outstanding presentations this year and for their enduring contribution to the fair’s overall quality and experience.”
About Presents
Presents is a platform for young galleries no more than ten years old to showcase recent work from emerging artists. Solo-artist and dual-artist presentations spotlight the next generation of artistic talents, which visitors can discover in this in-depth and intimate setting. The Presents section has continued to expand in size each year since its introduction in 2014. The Presents section received a record number of applications this year and will increase its number of exhibiting galleries from 22 in 2016 to 30 for 2017. As part of The Armory Show’s new vision of fostering young galleries and staging ambitious projects, the cost of participation in the Presents section was reduced this year and the Presents Advisory Panel established, to oversee and guide the direction of this growing section of the fair. Panel members are: Augusto Arbizo, 11R, New York; Philippe Charpentier, mor charpentier, Paris; and Jessica Silverman, Jessica Silverman Gallery, San Francisco.
About Athena Art Finance Corp.
Athena Art Finance, a New York-based global specialty art lender, joins The Armory Show as a lead sponsor for the second consecutive year. Athena’s support for the Presents Booth Prize marks an expanded partnership with the fair and the first ever prize for exhibiting galleries in The Armory Show’s history .

Spanish Colonial Home Renovation
Recently renovated by Martha O’Hara Interiors (previously featured here, here, here & here), the dark and foreboding interior inside this Spanish Colonial home overshadowed its charming architectural features. The home didn’t take advantage of the beautiful hill views nor represent its young owners, who were looking for furnishings and selections that would add lots of glamour to the living room, kitchen and dining spaces.
With two little girls at home, and a stylish mom with an admitted high heel obsession, the clients wanted every specification to be a WOW factor without feeling like they had to walk on egg shells. Pretty and durable was mom’s “mantra” that the designer happily ran with! High impact selections were key to the design. They often mixed formal and informal statement pieces to achieve the client ’s overall aesthetic: they wanted the ultimate family home that was all about high fashion AND high function.
Spanish Colonial Home Renovation
The color scheme brings a fresh feel and balances the traditional architectural details this home features.
All the pillows are custom-made, one with Romo fabric and the other with Duralee fabric.
Accessories: Global Views.
Side Table: Noir Furniture.
The chandelier is a 10-light chandelier in a polished nickel finish by Elk.
Before & After
The house used to feel “heavy” and outdated. New paint, new flooring and a few other changes made this entire space feel more current and bright.
Paint Color
The paint color throughout the main floor is custom, Sherwin Williams 50/50 Mix (Neutral Ground SW7568/ Natural Tan SW7567).
Note from the designer: “For lighting, our inspiration came from two existing chandeliers above the dining table. Because these were such grand pieces, we were especially conscious of selecting additional lighting that would be equally as impressive, bring light to each room, and push the design more transitional. We selected a large geometric fixture for the formal living room to complement the glamorous dining chandeliers. Mixing these styles helped connect the open- concept rooms while allowing each space to have its own distinction. We balanced the dramatic chandeliers with tall window panels and layers of purple fabrics – from airy lavenders to rich plum and egg-plant hues. “
Similar Chandeliers: here, here & here.
Dining Chairs: Head Chairs: Artis Shingle accent fabric by Romo and Newton Side Chairs by Vanguard.

Kitchen Island
It’s a color match to Sherwin Williams’ Dove Tail. It’s very similar to Aleutian by Sherwin Williams.
Counterstools: Hickory Chair Suzanne Kasler Laurent counterstool– Available through the designer – similar here, here & here.
Cabinet Paint Color
The kitchen cabinetry was done in Sherwin Williams Eider White SW7014.
The designer mixed chrome hardware with rose gold kitchen faucets. Similar Hardware: Appliance Pulls, Knobs, Pulls.
Large Farmhouse Sink: Kohler.
White Brick: Natural Stone Thassos Honed-Straight.
Pendant: Currey & Co. Platz Pendant.
Breakfast Room
“An essential request from mom was for an informal eating area where they could enjoy family meals together. To achieve this, we created a dining nook by closing off a portion of their abundant outdoor space. This also allowed us to increase the kitchen’ s size and improve flow to the casual family room.”
Lighting: Gabby Athena Chandelier
Flooring
The flooring is a wide European Oak Flooring – similar here.
Family Room
The family room is stylish, comfortable and the color palette is very forgiving; which is perfect for homes with small kids.
Lighting is a Visual Comfort Drum Light Fixture.
Rug is custom-made from carpet.
Side Table: Hourglass side table by Noir Furniture.
Ottoman: Custom-made with Designers Guild fabric – Brescia – and black pearl nailhead.
