My entry for the Pokémon TCG art contest this year! I didn’t make it to the top 300, but I really love how this turned out and I learned a lot from it!

Really disheartening that AI made it to the top 300 entries for the Pokémon card contest but congrats to the actual artists who made it!! Mine wasn't chosen this year but that won't stop me from entering again next time >:)

A little more on my ideas behind it under the cut :)

I wanted to go with a storybook feel for my entry, like something a kid would see and would weirdly stick with them. I also wanted to make it more felt based, kinda took inspiration from the Trolls movies on that lol

I noticed a few finalists had similar ideas to me and I think that's cool, especially since they went about it in different ways :D

The human urge to put Absol on cave walls/storybooks is strong

The Pokémon Trading Card Game has an annual art contest. Last year, I created two illustrations to enter in the contest (there was a limit of three entries per artist.) There was a short list of Pokémon to choose from, and the theme “Magical Pokémon Moments.” It was also a requirement not to share or post the art made for the contest until results were posted. They recently shared the results of the first round of eliminations, so I’m safe to share my entries now! There were almost 11,000 entries, and they just posted the top 300. I was very disappointed for a while after I saw I didn’t make it. I really need to step up my game and improve my skills. I’ll enter again next year!

A lil low resolution though because the canvas size was so small in Procreate for the contest regulations but it is what it is
