Pokeshipping Week
Day One (1): Misty in Kalos
“Nearly Holding Hands”
I was at such a loss on what to do for this theme (who am I kidding, why not just say all of them?) because of the possibilities that one could take it. I ended up doing the stereotypical (maybe?) thing and sent her and Ash to the Ambrette Aquarium. Y’know, ‘cause I’m super imaginative like that. ;) I think my favorite part of this is Pikachu’s expression. It came out so wonderfully smug in spite my underestimating my own skills.
The amount of edits I had to go through with this just to satisfy my own fussy brain? Too many to count. UGH.

For this year’s Pokeshipping Week, I wrote a fic set in the universe of @theroadyouchoose; as a birthday present to myself, I felt like drawing a moment from it, where Misty gives Ash a hard time for being sore at his Lucario Ria losing a contest.
Sky’s designs for the kids aged up are always fun to work with...though in this case, it took me three tries before Misty looked right :P

Pokeshipping Week, Day 1: Misty in Kalos
So, I had comics planned, but, as you know, I'm a procrastinator. Instead, I decided that for this pokeshipping week I would recreate some of my favorite cliche romcoms movie posters for the week. This one is from French Kiss, a Meg Ryan classic!

Day 1 - Misty in Kalos
After receiving a letter from her old friend, Misty buys a tourist guide to Kalos only to find that this region is everything from her dreams! her suitcases are packed in minutes and she’s off to explore the new region, but only after arriving does she realize that she never replied to that letter! Is her friend in for a big surprise?
So I wrote a little something similar to this prompt 2 years ago, which you can find here and here . Consider this a continuation of sorts of the same. Hope I can write a full fic of this some day.

Pokeshipping Week - Day 1
Misty in Kalos - Kinda? Bonnie wakes in the middle of the night and finds Ash talking to someone on his PokeGear.
-Car
oOo
Bonnie wasn't sure at first about what had woken her up. Everything seemed normal; her brother was snoring softly in his sleeping bag, Serena was breathing softly in her's, and Ash-
Where was Ash?
"Wow, are you serious?" she heard, but just barely, off in the distance, and her eyes narrowed suspiciously. The voice sounded like it was coming from somewhere deep in the woods, and it sounded like Ash. But who on earth would he be talking to at- she checked her watch, three o'clock in the morning?! In the middle of the woods?!
Careful not to wake up her other two sleeping companions, she slipped from her sleeping bag, tiptoeing in the direction she heard the faint voice, feeling even more confused when she noticed Pikachu was at camp as well, sleeping soundly in Ash's sleeping bag, where Ash himself should have been. She mentally crossed him off in her mind as the last remaining suspect for this middle of the night conversation Ash seemed to be conducting and made her way into the trees.
"No way," Ash said, a bit louder and clearer this time, meaning Bonnie was headed in the right direction. "You're lying."
"Swear on my life!" came a different voice. A much higher pitched, more electronic voice, but unmistakably a new voice.
So he was talking to someone. At least he wasn't crazy.
"And you haven't told this to anyone else yet?" Ash was asking, and if she wasn't mistaken, judging by his volume, he was right around this tree...
"Just you."
Bonnie blinked, pushing aside the low-hanging branch she had found herself instinctively hiding behind, to get a better view of Ash, who it turns out, was on the ground in a small clearing, leaning casually back onto a tree and holding-
Since when did Ash have a PokeGear?
"Not even Brock?" he asked, rolling a small twig around in his fingers absentmindedly and grinning. And it was a grin that Bonnie was unfamiliar with. Almost... mischievous? Sneaky? That didn't seem like the Ash she knew.
"Especially not Brock!" cried the PokeGear, and Ash broke into a fit of giggles. "Are you crazy? If Brock found out Tracy of all people was dating one of my sisters..."
Ash beamed, and Bonnie felt both unnerved, and for some reason amused, to see her companion acting so... she couldn't even put a word to his actions. And yet...
If she never really saw him acting in such a way before, was it weird that he seemed more at ease and natural than she had ever seen him?
"What'll you give me to not spill the beans?" he asked, still grinning.
There was a scoff on the other end of the PokeGear. "I wont give you a concussion, how about that?"
Ash snorted, biting his lip as if trying to contain his laughter. "What?!" he gasped, in mock surprise. "You expect me to withhold his very important information from my dear old friend Brock?!"
"I most certainly do, Ash Ketchum!" the Gear shrieked, "You don't get to frolic around on the other side of the world and leave me to deal with that nutcase by myself, you hear me?"
Ash and the voice quieted after that, apparently hitting a sore subject, if the suddenly downcast face Ash was making was anything to go by.
He cleared his throat after a few tense moments. "Hey, um, Mist?"
"Yes, Ash?"
He bit his lip, "I... I do miss you, you know."
The voice let out a breath Bonnie wasn't sure how to interpret. "I know that Ash... I miss you too."
"Thank you for the PokeGear, by the way. This is...really neat."
"Of course. And thank you for staying up to call me. Time zones are the worst."
Ash closed his eyes, leaning back against the tree and tilting his face up to the branches. He ran his hand through his hair, a small smile twitching back to his lips. "Oh, and Misty?"
"Hm?"
"I do not frolic."
The voice snorted out a laugh, seemingly happy to break the tension. "Oh you don't? Maybe prance is a better adjective?"
"Neither!" he laughed. "I prefer the word strut."
"Ash, you have never made a movement that even kind of resembled a strut in your life."
"I have so! I happen to be super suave."
"Do you even know what that word means, you dolt?"
"It's like, a shampoo, right?"
Bonnie smiled at the scene, and feeling suddenly like an intruder on something very personal, returned quietly back to camp.
The next day, when Ash spent most of the morning complaining about how tired he was, she kept her mouth shut. She couldn't place her finger on why, but she knew she needed to keep what she had seen a secret. If Ash wasn't going to share, what gave her the right?
Maybe she would understand when she was older.

Pokeshipping Week
Day Four (4): If Ash Replaced Misty’s Bike in OS
(Alternate Choice to Traveling Companions Reacting to Them Dating)
“Will you let me stay?” “Of course.”
I stole Misty’s line from InuYasha, in case you’re wondering. Being not fluent and on a bit of a nostalgia kick with an old favorite, I thought it’d be fun to use that quote. (Though, I’m not sure if I got the grammar correct with the ‘tte’ as I don’t know if it’s supposed to be that or ‘te’. Anyone who’s fluent, please correct me! Turns out, I’m more-than-likely very incorrect and it’s supposed to be “issho ni ite ii?” as far as the quote from InuYasha goes. A more correct version would be “issho ni ite mou ii yo?” Thanks, tony-tony-pikachu!)
So, uh, I decided to switch out for a different theme since I really couldn’t think of much for the original one and what I did come up with would’ve taken too long (long comic). Granted, what I actually drew could be an alternate take on Gotta Catch Ya Later! if Misty wasn’t let go from the main group but it still works.
A whole bunch of edits were made with this one as well to satiate my pickiness. I cursed myself throughout them all.

This is one of my favorite themes for pokeshipping, and I wish I could’ve come up with some new material for it, but as it is, all I have is this piece from the vault, and the fic that goes with it.

Pokeshipping Week - Day Four.
Traveling companions react to their relationship.
"Alright, pay up. Fifty bucks is fifty bucks." Brock waved his fingers back and forth with a smirk on his face.
"You're enjoying this a little too much, I think." Dawn grumbled as she fished around in her wallet, pulling out the correct amount of change and handing it over to the breeder.
"Of course I am. It's about time that I can start bragging about it."
Max rolled his eyes. "Oh please! I would hardly call this a fair bet. You knew them way better than we did."
Brock shrugged as he held up the bill and checked it for authenticity. "All's fair in love and war. Which reminds me," he turned back to the younger male.
"I believe you owe me twenty five."
Max grumbled in the same fashion as Dawn had, pulling out a twenty and a five from his own wallet before handing them over. Brock displayed a smug grin as he pocketed the cash.
Tracey was pouting off to the side, knowing his turn would soon come. "I thought for sure I'd have this one in the bag. I mean, I know it wasn't for very long, but I could see the signs. I definitely thought it would've happened alot sooner...."
Brock only shook his head while the sketch artist surrendered his share. "That was where you went wrong, Trace. Never assume anything with those two. They're two of the most stubborn, argumentative-"
"Don't forget temperamental." Max added.
"Temperamental," Brock repeated. "People I've known. But I'll tell you guys this, the one thing about both of them that they have in common the most is that they're crazy about eachother. I remember when they used to be at eachother's throats all the time. Sometimes I'd have to hold one back from the other just to avoid something I wouldn't have the strength to get them out of. I had a pretty good idea of where things were going, though. Even back then."
Max grunted in exasperation and incoherently mumbled about having an empty wallet to show for it, when a dreamy sigh entered the air.
"So romantic."
All eyes turned to May as she was pulling out a twenty dollar bill for Brock. "I can't say I'm even mad. It sounds too much like a movie or something."
"Please don't start...." Max pleaded grumpily while Dawn snickered.
"Two best friends fall in love with eachother after all of this time," May continued as if she hadn't heard him. "Both denying it until it all comes out in a confession, leading up to the big moment of something that they were putting off for years and years. And then finally... everything falls into place, one piece at a time."
Max threw his hands up in frustration. Brock chuckled.
"I can see that. And I see it as a relief, myself. What a waste it would have been if neither one of them decided to own up to it. Not that it's my business or anything." he shrugged. "But after knowing them for so long, watching their behavior and thinking the same thing over and over all these years, I probably would've meddled in some way or another."
He was sheepish in the face as he struggled to close his wallet and then tuck it away. "After knowing somebody for as long as I've known them, there are just some things that don't need to be guessed at."
Dawn contemplated it for a moment before nodding. "That's a good way to put it. And I guess I should've paid more attention, since I literally paid for it anyway..."
"It's worth it, though," Tracey added. "Even if it wasn't a win. Maybe now at least they won't fight as much. Since that was all apart of them arguing in the first place, right? Everything they've been repressing finally found a way out."
Brock laughed again. "Tracey, Tracey, Tracey...." he shook his head. The other male looked at him curiously.
"Nothing on this earth could ever, will ever, be a strong enough force to keep them from butting heads. It's part of what makes them... well, them. It'll be a part of their relationship in whatever form that is. Whether as friends, dating as a couple..."
"Husband and wife..." May added with a hopeful smile.
"Or husband and wife." Brock included her input as he did with Max. "And it's the same with how they'll always find a way back to eachother. Except now they'll just kiss and make up. For the moment, at least. But they'll make it work, no matter what happens."
May was about to start off on another wistful rant about romance and her hopes for planning a future wedding, but was cut off by Max clamping his hand over her mouth. All of them ended up laughing as his sister eventually dodged his efforts, beginning to dart around the Ketchum living room and express her newfound dreams for her friends. Max was leaping over the furniture and demanding that someone help him to, "save his sanity", but everyone was too busy doubling over with their enthusiastic amusement to get involved.
Meanwhile, Ash and Misty themselves both witnessed the scene from afar. They were sitting there in plain view and burning red in the face throughout the entire conversation. The couch was imprinted with their frames by now as they became further embarrassed to it all, sinking directly into the cushions. Neither one of them had any idea that at some point, their friends all agreed to a bet when things would eventually play out. And that just happened to be the result when they both agreed to tell them and get it over with.
Misty had one hand that was linked to Ash's while she held the other one in front of her face to keep from being seen, then mumbled into it.
"I knew we shouldn't have told them."

Pokeshipping Week 2018 - Day Six
Ladies and gentlemen, I present what is — for now — the last PSWeek contribution from me. I want to work on the other fics I have on my back burner, and PSWeek this year has been...kind of exhausting, I hate myself for my high standards. ANYHOW, enjoy!

Pokeshipping Week - Day 7
The Misty Mermaid underwater ballet sequel - Misty’s, like, tragic love life totally inspires the plot for Violet's next underwater ballet screenplay.
-Car
oOo
"How many times do I have to tell you I don't want to meet this guy?!"
Lily pursed her lips, glaring at her little sister, who glared back at her with just as much ferocity. "You are impossible," she seethed. Misty rolled her eyes.
"Oh, so having standards is being impossible?"
"Like, it is when they're unreasonable!"
Misty crossed her arms. "My standards are not unreasonable," she scoffed. "I only have one must-have as far as men go."
Daisy poked her head out from her bedroom, raising an unimpressed eyebrow. "Misty, it doesn't count as one must-have if the one must-have is 'be Ash Ketchum'."
A small blush dusted Misty's cheeks, but she stood her ground. "So what? If a man comes around that's of equal or greater value, then we'll talk. But until then, no thanks."
Violet, finally looking up from the romance novel she was reading, rolled her eyes. "Wow, so romantic," she said sarcastically.
"Misty," Daisy sighed. "It was cute when you were eleven, and Ash was just, like, this scruffy little small town pokemon trainer. But he's the Champion now. You are, like, basically telling people they need to be a Pokemon Master or better."
Misty opened her mouth to retort that it wasn’t about his title, he also happened to be sweet and kind and brave, not to mention cute, when a sudden, high-pitched gasp from Violet cut her off.
"Oh my gosh!" she squealed, her book tossed to the side. "This is like, the perfect plot for our next water show!"
The sisters starred at her quizzically, Lily even letting out a small, humorous '...what?" in response, but Violet was on a roll, springing to her feet and clutching her hands together.
"The story starts with a cute but scrawny, young, preteen mermaid, swimming along with her water pokemon friends after a totally melodramatic and overblown fight with her three beautiful older sisters-"
"Subtle."
"-when she stumbles upon a young boy. She saves him, they become friends, and she falls like, head over heels in love with him. But, even after like, twelve years, she doesn't tell him how she feels, so she just pines away for him from afar, even though it is like, totally in her power to do something about it."
"Again, subtle."
"Well! It turns out, the boy was actually a prince all along, and he eventually takes the title of King for the whole region! So now, the people who called the mermaid silly for wasting her time with a nobody realize their mistake, and like, totally get why the mermaid liked the boy so much." Violet beamed.
Misty smiled in amusement. Okay, it was definitely a weird way of looking at things, but her sisters were nothing in not a little strange on their best days. She opened her mouth to thank her sister for at least attempting to try to understand how she felt, when Violet interrupted her.
"Of course," she continued, "because the king is too obsessed with his kingdom and his pokemon to notice her feelings, and her standards are too impossibly high for anyone else to match them, the play ends with the little mermaid growing old, sad and alone, with only her pokemon to keep her company."
Daisy and Lily snorted as Misty's face and ears grew red with a mixture of anger and embarrassment. "Very funny!" she huffed, stomping out of the room as her sisters giggled.
"You can like, always change the ending!" Violet called after her, but Misty was already down to hall, texting wildly on her phone, encouraging her friends to NOT come to the Sensational Sister Water Ballet this year.
