Thực tế thao tác thay đổi hình nền cho màn hình Start đã được Microsoft tích hợp sẵn trong hệ thống (ở những phiên bản WP 8 trở về trước không có sẵn). Bạn chỉ việc vào Settings > Start + Theme > chọn Start background photo, rồi chọn một tấm ảnh tùy ý trong thư viện để chuyển các Live tile từ những màu đơn sắc thành những hình ảnh ưa thích. Tham khảo video dưới đây.

Tuy nhiên, một vài Live tile mặc định nhà phát triển không cho thay đổi được nền của nó, do đó chúng ta cần phải kết hợp thêm những thao tác sau để có được hình nền hoàn hảo.

Sắp xếp những Live Tile trong suốt gần nhau

WP cho phép bạn thay đổi vị trí cũng như kích thước của các Live Tile, vì vậy nếu những Live Tile nào trong suốt ta chỉ việc đặt chúng gần lại với nhau từ trái qua phải từ trên xuống dưới để hình nền được liền lạc. Những Live Tile không trong suốt ta nên di chuyển xuống dưới để chung lại với nhau, hoặc đơn giản hơn là không cho chúng xuất hiện ngoài màn hình Start nữa (nếu không thực sự cần dùng).

Tìm và tạo hình nền đẹp

Nếu vẫn chưa chọn được cho mình một hình nền ưng ý thì bạn có thể tham khảo một vài ứng dụng giúp tạo hoặc cung cấp sẵn một thư viện hình nền chuyên nghiệp và tuyệt đẹp.

Ứng dụng miễn phí này có sẵn trên Windows Phone Store, giúp bạn tạo hình nền theo dạng Low-Poly rất phổ biến hiện nay. Low-Poly là dạng hình với các đa giác đan vào nhau để tạo nên hiệu ứng 3D đẹp mắt, thường sử dụng trong nhiều lĩnh vực trang trí và hội họa. Với PolyScreen bạn có thể tùy chọn kích thước, góc độ đa giác, màu sắc, độ tương phản cho tấm ảnh Low Poly ưng ý. Ảnh sau khi tạo sẽ được lưu trong thư viện, sau đó thực hiện thay đổi hình nền cho Start như hướng dẫn ở phần trên.

Ứng dụng này tương tự như PolyScreen, chỉ khác là bạn sẽ chỉnh sửa những hình ảnh có sẵn với nhiều tùy chọn tình chỉnh hơn để tạo hình nền.

Ứng dụng này lấy thư viện từ trang www.zedge.net nổi tiếng, có nhiều hình nền và nhạc chuông miễn phí cho điện thoại di động. Dĩ nhiên ngoài hình nền, ứng dụng còn cung cấp thêm cho bạn kho nhạc chuông đúng như tên ứng dụng.

Cuối cùng, “xử lý” các Live Tile mặc định

Chắc bạn sẽ nghĩ vấn đề khó nhất để có một hình nền Start hoàn hảo là “xử lý” những  Live Tile không trong suốt như Xbox music, Video, Game… Nhưng không phải hẳn vậy, thực tế có sẵn những ứng dụng giúp ta thực hiện điều này, không những có thể “xử” được Live Tile mà cả các Tile khác cũng có thể làm trong suốt được. Bạn tải về một trong hai ứng dụng sau: Tile Transparency Tiles hoặc Transparent Tiles Maker.

Sau khi cài đặt, bạn vô ứng dụng nhấn phím Menu, tìm kiếm tên ứng dụng mà bạn muốn làm trong suốt và chọn nó. Sẽ có hình ảnh Tile đã được làm trong suốt xuất hiện bên dưới cho bạn xem trước. (Lưu ý: Một số Live Tile “độc”, ứng dụng sẽ tính phí).
