When to Take an MCAT Prep Course

Hi! I'm planning to take my MCAT mid/late August 2014. I was wondering when I should take a MCAT test prep course. Thanks!

Most prep courses run in cycles of 1.5 months to 3 months.  With the summer, if you have no other obligations the 1.5 months might not be too terrible.  I took the 3 month course and that seemed to work well for me.  I would say if you stretch it out longer that 3 months you will see diminished returns because you will not retain all of the minutia.

When taking a prep course do not let the course end more than 1 to 1.5 weeks before your test.  Again, you will start to lose some of your knowledge past that point.  I would suggest to end about a week out, then take multiple practice tests the last week.  The day before your test let your mind rest.

Should I take the ACT or SAT?

Every student will encounter a college placement test before at one point during his or her high school career. The choice is between the ACT & SAT. Some students score substantially higher on the SAT, while others fare a lot better on the ACT. As easy as this is, I didn’t get it for like two years of physics lectures. Tänkte starta upp med ett litet inlägg om mina första dagar i new york+mer!!

Dagarna innan min avresa spenderades stresspackandes och sistaminutenköpandes, men mina fina vänner hade förberett en överraskningsfest (så gulligt) och hann även hänga med moder så var nöjd!

Lämnade Stockholm den 14/8 kl för tidigt på morgonen, där jag vinkades av av min kära moder o finaste pegah! Reste med 3 andra svenska utbytesstudenter så det var niceigt, tog väll cirka 15 timmar innan vi landade i new york (mellanlandade i London) så var totalt utmattad när vi kom fram.

I new york bodde vi ute i new rochelle en förort till själva Manhattan i deras universitet. Rummen hade ingen ac och just när vi kom dit var det värmebölja så de var rätt sunkigt haha men överlevde (knappt). Vi var 30+ utbytisar där så fick hänga o bonda med dom vilket var roligt!!

Under dagarna vi var där hann vi med att ha lektioner om amerikanska traditioner, USAs historia, utbytesstudent livet mm vilket var spännande o rätt tråkigt. Fick även testa amerikansk fotboll o cheerleading men insåg rätt snabbt att jag inte var någon talang direkt, men kul ändå!

Vi åkte även in till Manhattan två dagar vilket var jätteroligt att se!! Var på bl.a. Rockerfeller center, soho, noho, ground zero, Times square, Grand central, central park mm! Åkte även förbi Apollo theatre i harlem där Jimi Hendrix har uppträtt så var supernöjd<3 första dagen åkte vi en båttur på floden runt new york (Kmr ej ihåg vad den heter dock) i åskväder vilket var ascoolt!!

Allt som allt hade jag det superroligt i new york, trots varmt o 5 timmars sömn på 4 dygn!

Today’s lecture was a piece of cake, fortunately. The professor only went through really easy middle school stuff, to make sure that everyone’s on the same level. But that doesn’t mean today’s lecture was a waste of time! It absolutely wasn’t; it’s super important to know the basics by heart and to be able to use them without thinking twice, so I’ll definitely revise the notes for today once I get home and solve some practice questions.
