I so want his Poffy to be one of the two male leads in that teleplay instead of the "just a friend" side character. Though he probably stole every scene as usual, even the ones he wasn't in.
Ooooooooooooooooo the Baron is someone to look forward to.
Poffy! 🥰 I LOVE the newest picture you found of him and Greer Garson! In my imagination, the entire teleplay is all about Poffy, even though I know this is certainly not the case. I just want the whole story to be a romantic adventure where Peter-as-Poffy flirts with every woman and they all love him for it. Because that's basically what happens in my imagination on a constant loop.
Also I love that this post has reappeared because the pictures are a great character reference for a certain Baron who will (hopefully) make an appearance in a new story of mine before Halloween. It won't be finished until November, probably, but I just couldn't help starting a new Lorre fic, even if it is complete fluffy fetish nonsense. :D

.the void calls, what will you do? Will you answer it?
#ines's scribbles#skyblock kingdoms#marma1ade#.SO SO EXCITED ABOUT THE VOID STUFF YEAAAAAAA#.also the noise it produced reminds us of grey tones and muted colors so we went with those#.at first we wanted to like. only make the background muted#.and make marm REALLY high contrast. like crank up that saturation HIGH#.to like. showcase that she is alive. and then overlay the muted colors over her since the noise is overpowering her#.didn't go down that route tho since she already stood out enough

Whatcha think of the small movement where actual artists take AI generated images, redraw them and claim these as theirs??
Personally I think it’s not the best idea to even put attention to AI art. Sure, it’s a good sentiment but at the end of the day it still points back to AI.
It’s better to do human trends than AI ones
#spottie speaks#don’t get me wrong the stuff that gets produced is super cool#buuut it still leads to showcasing AI and thus making it popular

Me: I would like to watch someone cook something very well and have a fun relaxed time while doing it.
Netflix: Here are twenty multi-season, heavily competitive cooking shows where people regularly scream, shout, get disturbingly aggressive and break down in tears because there's a life-changing cash prize hinging on their being better than the competition.
Me: :(
Netflix: Fine. Here are maybe four single season shows where someone has fun cooking.
Me: :)
Netflix: I see you've finished the extremely limited amount of nice relaxing shows. Are you sure you don't want to watch the screaming, crying, aggressive and borderline verbal abuse cooking shows? We have so many! And they have many seasons! Are you sure????
Me: Please let me watch The Cook-A-Long in peace (T-T)
Netflix: But you could be watching someone have a mental breakdown over their cupcake's consistency! Doesn't that sound fun!
#Netflix pls#I just like watching people enjoy making food#The Cook-A-Long is a South African show focused on showcasing various ingredients produced in different parts of the country#It's fascinating

Was gonna do some glam crafting/arcadion posing on my one free night of the week, but I have been assigned a dire purpose (put together furniture) from heaven (amazon delivery), and I cannot stray from it any more than the sun can stray from rising each morning 😔
#love me a deterministic list of steps that culminate in a completed physical product#have a love/hate relationship with deterministic steps that instead produce a different screen configuration#more on the hate side at the moment. web development was a mistake.#anyway I do apologize for my lack of activity. i like to showcase all the incredible work and creativity in the community-#- and due to a combo of family bullshit and work stress i have not had time or energy to even scroll the dash.#going to try and do better in the future#the mun speaks

"I strongly urge that we all smother our justifiable grievances and pretend to be having a very devil of an uproarious carousal. Let us close our eyes to the fact that we all look a bit moth-eaten and concentrate on getting through this with a show of good grace." -Poffy (Reunion in Vienna)
Here is Robert E. Sherwood's 1932 play for "Reunion in Vienna"!

See all previous pics here.
While the 1955 television episode (pictured above) is currently lost, and I haven't gotten ahold of the actual 1955 script, I can but hope that Peter Lorre, who played Poffy, still got to say awesome lines like the above in the episode. And these:
"Because you realize this celebration will be nothing more than a gathering of broken-down old outcasts, like myself—with no one to give us animation, no one to give us the illusion of youth . . . but . . . I'm afraid that it may not be quite what you expect. . . ."
Poffy is a tragic but gallant ex-officer of the Imperial Army, who is now engaged in the great work of guiding American tourists about the Hofburg.
Other versions:
There was a 1933 John Barrymore picture that seems hard to find commercially, but here's a deliciously spoilery review. The Poffy character isn't mentioned once.
We do have this 1966 radio broadcast:
youtube
If the above won't play in your country, try this site instead.
Incidentally, in the play, Poffy is Baron Povoromo, which became Lord Pofferoff in Barrymore's version, et al. It's just as well I saw the latter first because I dearly love the alliteration. And I'm definitely keeping it as such for my Blackadder II crossover story, ahem, ahem, start here. :D

My ad blocker doesn’t like that link for some reason. Here’s a direct link to the article in case yours doesn’t either.

#Now it’s time to be rude in the tags but the journalist started it#‘’and it ain’t always pretty’’ fuck off??#I wanted to read the article in the first place to see what they were talking about#But it’s just the photos reposted here.#‘’[sees multiple people wearing a style common to their region and era] ew’’ ????#The photographer does kind of the same thing in that he’s quoted in the article going#‘’I think ‘How can you be so naive to go to a shop to buy clothes that sum up your personality#and not realize that at the same time 10000 men and women around the world do and think the same things?’’#Assumes facts not in evidence!#My default assumption is that people know the mass produced clothing they’re wearing in line with existing aesthetic trends is#in line with existing aesthetic trends.#You could’ve been like ‘’shared fashion around the world showcases the global nature of modern art and human society#a grand scale neural network that transmits aesthetic sensibility across culture language and region. How beautiful.’’#But no! ‘’People are the same and that’s bad and these idiots don’t even know they have things in common with each other’’#The photographer goes on to say ‘’But I do it too of course. We’re told we’re individuals and we buy these things#and we are a product of the culture that we live in’’ just START there man. No need to preface it with shit that needs a ‘’but’’.#I’m sorry you grew up being fed such radical individualism that you think wearing common clothing is bad and undesireable#but there’s no need to project that onto everyone else#Ahem. Anyway#This article is 16 years old lol so I hope we’ve all grown since then#Art
