What are the markers for the ideal teacher admin relationship?
The ideal teacher-administrator relationship is foundational to a well-functioning school environment. When administrators and teachers collaborate effectively, the entire school community benefits. However, building and maintaining this relationship requires intentional effort on the part of both the teachers and the administrators. Communication, and mutual respect also have a significant partâŠ

RE: Valorized teachers - I was a teaching assistant who was put into a self contained special ed room. I'm also a wheelchair user with several neurodevelopmental conditions. The way that I was guilted by peers for not staying to shield kids from the abuse they dealt with that was both a) triggering to see/intervene in (since I went through similar shit) and b) minimum wage so I could only afford to eat once every 24 hours was really damaging to me. "If you don't stay and keep the kids safe, they'll just be abused worse." Yeah. They will. And within a month I'll probably kill myself and that'll traumatize them too. I still love those kids and I still lose sleep over "abandoning" one of them in particular but I wanted to survive. So I did everything I could to show them I loved them and they are humans and should be treated like humans, and I left. Other physically disabled people, interestingly, did not have the same hang-ups about self sacrifice (in my experience, obviously everyone is different).
god. yeah.
I'm substitute teaching in a few schools right now to supplement a part-time job I actually love, and while I initially planned to work with the local public school system, I've ended up in a private/independent schools instead. and like.
I grew up in public schools, I have so much beef with private/independent schools (and even more with charter schools, lol. but I'm not working with any of those) and I very much know that the students I'm working with now aren't the ones who need support the most. hell, I'm not even making as much as I could be in the nearest public school system!! private schools pretty much always pay less than public schools do, and that's definitely true here.
I feel bad for not working in public schools, and I could justify that (I turned down one offer from a district because they pay even less than the private schools do, plus the commute would be a nightmare; the other district is so underfunded that they keep firing admin people and they can't get their shit together to onboard me properly, so I now literally can't work there until I get a new passport) but also. like.
I've worked with public schools before, and frankly, I don't love it. The class sizes are twice as large, the schools themselves can't really do anything innovative on a larger scale, and the teachers pretty invariably don't love working there. They love their students, but the school?? There's always something to complain about.
One of the schools I work at right now is doing shit no public school can do, the entire student population is less than 50 kids, and the kids and teachers are genuinely happy there. Like, truly, honestly love being there. And I do, too! It's my favorite school to sub for, and it's not close.
Idk. I feel guilty sometimes, but also, like... it's not really fair to ask teachers to sacrifice their own happiness for the sake of protecting a few students from a broken system. I commend the people who do it, they're making an important difference, but it's really not enough to fix the problem itself. And it's not fair to expect it to be enough.
We need systemic change. We need better funding, better pay, smaller class sizes, people in charge who know what the hell they're doing, and we need to scrap current professional development practices and invest in long-term, ongoing coaching and mentoring practices for teachers so they can (and are accountable for) staying up-to-date with evidence-based (read: student-centered!!!) pedagogical approaches.
That doesn't just happen from inside one classroom, or even on the backs of the genuinely great classroom teachers currently making that sacrifice for their students. Other people- more people than just the education field itself- need to give a shit and make an effort, too.

Sidney Crosby Teacher AU
Anotha one
Teacher AU series
Warnings: Age gap (both are adults)
WC: 927
_______________
Pay attention. All he had to do was pay attention. Heâs been at this for years, there was no reason why he shouldnât be able to pay attention to the districtâs lawyer talking about all the legal things they needed to know. It was the same thing that he went on about every single year, but it was still important to pay attention.
It all started going downhill when they walked in to the gym to find it set up for their professional development, but with assigned seating like they were younger than the students they taught. Admin said it was because they wanted to make sure all the departments were mixed together for âdifferent perspectives,â but if Sidney was being honest, he and the rest of the teachers sat with their departments because they liked each other. The history department didnât particularly like some of the science department.
It was worse for Sidney when he realized that he was seated next to the one art teacher he shouldnât be next to. Ivy was still in high school when he started teaching (not at the same school), and yet, there she was in all her zany glory that Sidney couldnât stop thinking about.Â
She was sitting so close to him, very clearly not paying attention to anything the lawyer was saying in front of them. She was on her computer, scrolling through Pinterest looking at what he was pretty sure were lesson ideas.
Ivy Reid was the exact opposite sort of teacher compared to Sidney. He had his lessons planned out down to the minute, something he prided himself on since so many other teachers said that it was impossible to do that. He had the entire unit planned out before they started it, knowing the test and quiz questions he would ask his students, who would do well and who would need more attention based on the content. He had to have everything in order so that he could keep track of every one of his students and what they needed to get the most out of his class. Everything had a place and everything was in its proper place so anyone could come into his classroom and know what to do.
Ivy, from what his students told him, was a teacher who did whatever she wanted. If her students wanted to do one project over another, she let them do it. They had what she referred to as âtotal artistic freedomâ in her class, and her grading them was based on their own self reflection. There was no right and wrong in her class, only satisfaction or disappointment in their own work. Even walking into her room, which he did once because he was told her classroom was the best space for a committee meeting, made him anxious. Nothing had a place, papers everywhere, art projects wherever they fit and could stand without falling on the floor. The chairs were covered in clay and paint, the tables sticky with glue or some other substance.
She was fascinating to him.Â
Sidney let out a sigh, the lawyer still droning on about who knows what at this point. âArenât you supposed to listen to this?â he whispers to her.
Ivy looks up from her computer, a strand of hair from the bun messily tied on top of her head falling over her eyes. She blows it out of the way, shrugging. âWe get the powerpoint after, anyway. Might as well use this time for something useful.âÂ
Sidney tried to keep his gaze fixed on the projector in front of him, not knowing what else to say. He kept glancing over at her, the overalls covered in paint, the t-shirt that showed off the tattoo on her upper arm that was technically against their handbook, the ripped sneakers a direct contrast to his pressed dress pants, crisp white dress shirt and a tie with a little bit of a pattern.Â
He was mesmerized by her.Â
The lawyer finishes the presentation, with a last minute, âand Iâll send the powerpoint to all of you this afternoon,â when one of the assistant principals stands up and starts her tangent as to what they were going to be doing for the next half hour. Sidney couldnât tune in before he heard the other teachers groaning and muttering under their breath, despite the smile on the APâs face.Â
âLooks like youâre my partner,â Ivy says, gesturing to the screen that has their names right next to each other.
âI have no idea what weâre doing,â he immediately admits, neither of them moving from their seats as everyone gets up and shuffles around.Â
Ivy shrugs, letting out a short laugh that made Sidney squirm in his seat. âWeâre just talking about what we did this summer.â Sidney nods. âI guess Iâll go first. I went down to DC for an art teachers institute for a week, read a lot, and broke up with my boyfriend, so you could finally ask me out.â
Sidney felt his eyes nearly pop out of his head. âWhat?â
âWould you rather I ask you out?â
âWhat?â he repeats.
Ivy scoffs. âYou obviously like me, and Iâm not gonna lie and say I donât like you.â
âYouâre too young for me,â is the only argument he could come up with to object from something he didnât fully comprehend how badly he wanted.
âTen years is nothing when youâre both adults with fully developed frontal lobes.â Sidney sits there with his mouth hanging open. âSo, what do you say?â
âYes.â

You donât have to answer this if ur uncomfortable! What do u study/do for work, if you donât mind me asking? Like, how did you decide what you were passionate abt? And do u have any tips for someone who has no idea what they want to do but is entering adulthood very soon
u seem pretty knowledgeable and wise, so I thought Iâd ask đ€·đ»ââïž
As I'm sure you'd agree, most people have passions, but they aren't necessarily things that will make the right career. Maybe you will find a job that you are passionate about; maybe you won't. Both are okay.
My first job was being a music teacher--which I do enjoy, but it wasn't financially sustainable long-term in the way I was doing it, so now I work in business. I don't hate it, but it's definitely not something I'm passionate about--it's simply a way to earn a living to me. The things I do outside of work (volunteer work, occasional professional singing, writing etc) are what I'm passionate about, and I'm glad I don't make money from those, because then I do them solely because I love them. There are several jobs that I would love, but I have no interest in the harsh and competitive environment that comes with them, which I why I've chosen not to pursue those.
When I graduated high school I also didn't know what I wanted for my career. So I picked a very general business/administrative course, got some training and eventually found work. Here's the thing--society will expect you to know exactly what you want to do for the rest of your life by age 18. But that's incredibly unrealistic. So don't feel like you're failing if you haven't figured it out yet. That's completely normal!
My advice would be to try new things casually to see if you enjoy them. For example, cooking, gardening, babysitting, or creating spreadsheets will help you to see if you'd be good at/have interest in hospitality, landscaping, childcare, or accounting. Then you can research careers in that field. And while you're doing that, find a job to keep you going even if it's not your forever job. But my advice is that even though this isn't your permanent career, don't pick something you'll hate for your first job. If you dislike speaking to customers, you won't like a customer service job. If you struggle to multitask, don't pick a fast-paced admin job. Is my job my passion in life? No. But do I dislike it? No, I actually enjoy it sometimes. So while you're looking for your 'dream' job, don't settle on something you'll hate in the meantime.
Thankfully experience is the best instructor, so you may find that after working/exploring your options, what you land on might be completely different to what you started with. Even if you find a field you enjoy, study and/or start working in that field, but you eventually want a change, that's okay. You can always do a course later on in life and further develop your skills. Will I stay in my current job forever? Probably not, but I'm not worried because I know there's always another field out there that will work for me.
I hope this was helpful! And remember, you've got time. All the best and I hope you can find something that works for you <3

Screaming Silently
Idk how to implement change in this organization. I feel SO presumptuous suggesting things to site admin and teachers. Everyone needs more fucking professional development. This is WILD. WHY ARE PEOPLE EXPECTED TO RETAIN MISBEHAVING STUDENTS--any students, come to think of it--WITHOUT THE TOOLS TO DO SO. Give them a fucking scholarship and ask them to be trained. Teachers have to have a bachelor's to be hired anywhere serious! Give these people training!! Oh my gosh.

im here from your post looking at the code of the comic website. have you ever thought of like website development/coding/something related as a job in the future? i donât really know anything on that topic but you seem to know quite a bit!
welllllllllllllllllll
the main reason we know our way around website code/the inspect tool/websites so well is back in middle school well uh
we used to use amino a lot, specifically kirby amino. it was our first social media and we were somehow popular on there for some ungodly reason, and we were constantly talking with our friends on there instead of doing anything productive. we used to use the computer lab a lot during lunch/computer time to just post/talk on amino, which the school quickly blocked. we quickly recovered by downloading a free shitty vpn, which the school later blocked. we then just used a different free vpn, which continued for a while until our school blocked any and all vpns including chrome extensions. we then figured out the school's blocking feature only applied to google chrome, so we downloaded opera instead since it didn't require admin priveleges to download. the school then later blocked opera, so we started using a fun little now defunct feature in google translate where if you inputted a website link, it would proxy the website as a cached version you could look at. it was heavily broken because of that, and it kept popping up with the "hey log into amino to continue!" so we couldnt continue scrolling, so we used the inspect tool to completely remove it manually as well as kind of fix some of the formatting issues with it being cached. school couldn't figure a way around that without banning google translate which they obviously couldn't do. we then figured out that we just needed to carry opera on a flashdrive with us and we could just continue what we did previously
the school got so fucking fed up with our shit that they brought in the best IT person a school salary could buy to stop our little 12 year old ass. we then figured a way around all of their blocks and firewalls within about the duration of a computer class. our teachers then heavily started trying to push us towards an IT career
we'd continue with our bullshit during the period we lived with our dad in high school in texas, where he put major lock downs on all of our electronics. we got given an andorid phone instead of our old iphone, which we used against him by downloading the tor browser and talking with our discord friends, which meant we got our shit taken away until we moved back to our grandmas. we got sent back our old laptop, but it still had all of the network nanny shit on it that would let him control the entire laptop remotely and stop us from getting on discord.
we then realized we could go into the net nanny files, open them in notepad, and then ctrl+a then ctrl+d to remove all of the code, and despite our dad still trying to stop it, we ended up doing this until all of the functionalities of the program were dead and we could just uninstall it
so like, a lot of our computer expertise is BREAKING code. however we've made about 7-8 websites by ourselves with html/css on neocities however i cant show any of them because we have a tendency to gut the code each time :^{
i have thought about doing freelance website work/code editing before but i'd have no idea how to start considering we don't really know "professional" code building aka the shit companies want

My boss, the district librarian...dropped the word "Ass" seven times in an half-hour conversation. She, my roomie, and two teachers have a plan to meet up after New Years at our local brewery....where no one can mention kids, professional development, or school admins. Anyone who does has to buy a round. Anyway, if you want me to reply to a particular thread or ask...please let me know by leaving a note, a dm, or a message on discord.

Day Three
I spent most of the day in meetings. Actually, I spent most of the day running meetings, and there's a part of me that still doesn't think I should be doing that.
The first one was about one of the policies we're looking to roll out this year, a bell-to-bell ban on cell phones; The Principal had some questions for the staff about specific aspects of the policy, so he divided us into small groups, with a department head and an admin in each group, for some discussions. After that, our colleagues from the whole district joined us in the auditorium for remarks from our new superintendent, and an adorable presentation by students from all grade levels about the road ahead of us.
We also had lunch, and some professional development about anxiety and how to best address it (with a really great presenter, super engaging). Then grade level advisors met to plan out our advisory activities, and the previous tenth grade advisors left us a ton of stuff to work with, which was awesome. Department heads met after that because we're tasked with closing out these teacher workshop days tomorrow afternoon, and we had to put some slides together for that.
I spent the last half hour of the day in my role as a union rep, talking to new staff and giving them paperwork to fill out (sometimes twice because I messed up a set, sigh). I definitely got my steps in!
I had about two hours of downtime at home, and then I participated in a fun two-miler race the local running club holds against our high school cross country team and a few other teams. There's food and drinks afterwards, and a team celebration, and it's fun to be out there as a teacher (and coach of many of the same kids during track season) because the kids appreciate it. Mr. L, Mrs. E, and Mrs. R ran, too, so we represented well!
Ordinarily, this would be the last day of teacher workshops, and school would start for students tomorrow. But we had school consolidation, restructuring, etc... at the lower grades, and that's a lot of change, so the union asked for an additional day. Students will start after Labor Day.

rant time about today's meeting:
I mentioned this before in DMs, but my current team at work feels a lot like Team 7 from Naruto, leading me to channel my inner Kakashi to wrangle those genin. So let me start by introducing the
dramatis personae:
Kakashi-sensei: me, their superior/leader and responsible for both the department and the professional development of staff. Very tired.
Sasuke: our oldest teacher, older than me both in age and company time, but less experienced than me and less qualified both professionally and academically. Believes herself superior to the rest of the team and is reluctant to follow instructions because she assumes she knows better.
Sakura: book-smart but insecure, compares herself to the other two and constantly feels like she's falling behind. Probably has a darker side but doesn't let it show.
Naruto: outstanding potential, self-sabotaged by her need to prove herself and get acknowledged by everyone else. Very childish, but has good intentions.
the mission:
By the end of the first semester, we're supposed to present the children's report cards, with an assessment of their development in class and a small text about each kid in a way that doesn't sugarcoat anything but is also respectful and appropriate.
I had previously presented the template for the report card, explaining item by item, and asked them to fill out a sample report card for the student each of them struggled the most with. They could ask me for help and work together to accomplish this, and present it to me today. My original plan was to use each report card to show how to write about the students, giving them an outline they could follow so they wouldn't struggle as much writing about our 200+ students.
what happened:
Sasuke decided to do everything on her own, without asking for help, and doing more than what she was asked. The end result was good - she really is a competent teacher - but she forgot to look underneath the underneath: there were details she needed to work on to avoid parental wrath (things I saw from miles away due to experience with dealing with parents and doing school admin work, things she has no experience with). She picked an autistic student as her sample report card, and left out key information about his development because she believed it wasn't necessary to explain his development since "his parents know he's autistic and don't expect more than that from him". I gave her some pointers, and she sulked and tried to argue because she "knew better" and it "wasn't necessary".
Sakura struggled with the assignment and didn't ask for help, hiding behind the other two. I told her I'd help her one on one later, because I'm not letting her fall behind but I understand she doesn't want to show the others she's struggling, and she doesn't trust me enough yet to know I won't judge her for struggling (but I do judge her for not admitting she needs help).
Naruto did a good job in filling out the report card, but chose the worst possible wording for the text about the student. She didn't say anything that wasn't true, but she was sloppy in her word choice and that would definitely bring upon us the wrath of the rich private school parents we're dealing with. I showed her how to refine her work, and she was motivated to try again, but made a comment about not being "naturally good at this" as I was. I had to tell her about how much work and practice I put into these skills, and that it seemed easy for me because I knew what I was doing and wasn't just winging it, but that I would show her how to get there.
Overall it was a good meeting, but I know it's going to take a lot of work to get these three to where I need them to be. I had two cans of Monster and now I need some blorbo smut to clear my head so I can go back to genin wrangling tomorrow.

Why does a child misbehave in school or at home? Address the problem with compassion

Understanding child behavior problems
No parent likes hearing complaints about their kids at school or in the neighborhood. Yet sometimes it happens, and without effective intervention, misbehavior can develop deep roots. These issues need to be addressed early to prevent more serious disorders as the child grows. Without proper guidance, a child may become isolated, aggrieved, sad, depressed, or aggressive. These are only some reactions for not understanding the reasons for child misbehavior.

TSUS, the best CBSE board school at North Bangalore works with parents to improve childâs misbehaviour.
The Shri Ram Universal School (TSUS) pays attention to every aspect of a child in the campus. Once your child is admitted the teachers and admin ensure that each student develops and grows in a positive learning ground. Otherwise, Behavioural disorders in children can upset the entire classroom environment. It may also affect home life.
The following article will assist parents to ensure their children grow up to be well-behaved. As one of the best CBSE board school at North Bangalore, TSUS teams up with parents for the sake of their kids.
When You Get That Dreaded Note from School
Receiving a note about your childâs fight or an argument can leave you confused, upset, or embarrassed. These are completely natural reactions. Perhaps your child has gotten into an ugly confrontation during class or recess. They are the best ways to understand child behavior problems and get some solutions.
Instead of panicking, consider the following steps:
Establish open communication
Listen carefully to your childâs perspective. Create a safe space where the child feels comfortable sharing what happened. Gather information from teachers and any other children involved. Understanding all sides of the story is crucial before making any decisions or taking action.
Monitor unusual patterns
Observe how your child interacts with others outside of school. Do they display a similar pattern when playing with neighborhood children or siblings? Identifying incidents across different environments helps determine if the issue is situation-specific or more pervasive.
Request regular feedback
Ask your childâs teacher for a simple behavior report card. This can be a weekly note or checklist. It can highlight positive incidences and areas of concern. Regular updates allow you to track progress and address issues promptly before they escalate.
Watch for changes
Be alert to shifts in your childâs mood, sleep patterns, appetite, or social interactions. Sometimes there are underlying issues like anxiety, learning difficulties, or problems with peers. Your child may struggle to express verbally and requires assistance and support.
Reward Good Behavior
Positive reinforcement is powerful. When you notice your child making good choices or showing improvement, acknowledge it specifically and immediately. This motivates them to continue being amiable. It shifts their focus from arguments or fights to studies and constructive activities. Even small improvements deserve recognition.
Stay rooted
Parents should remain calm and consistent when addressing any negative issues. Investigate underlying reasons. Maybe itâs a need for attention, difficulty with emotional regulation, or academic frustrations.

Reasons for child misbehavior should be understood in school and at home
Provide extra support where needed, such as one-on-one time, clear boundaries, or professional guidance. Punishment isnât always the best answer. Approaching challenges with love and compassion often opens more effective pathways to improvement. They maintain your crucial bond with your child. Otherwise, complex behavioral disorders in children will ruin a promising life and also those around.
You can always share your concerns with the class teacher in school. As one of the best CBSE board school at North Bangalore, TSUS is dedicated in helping children to achieve their potential in a positive manner.
