Escape from Tombstone - Learning Outcome Matrix (pt.3)
Skills learned/Knowledge advanced:
Photoshop- I spent a lot of time polishing my Photoshop skills and I feel like I'm starting to catch up on the skill-gap (still only switched over from traditional art 4 years ago). So I incorporated more things like subtle gradient, editing saturation, lightness and contrast, utilising the lasso and magic wand as well as Layer styles and modes to enhance my art. This manifested in ways such as more warmth to skin-tones and more effective shadows and colour co-ordination.
Animation- I learned to apply Animation concepts such as squash and stretch without breaking the semi-realistic feel of the game. Animating for games in general requires specific understanding such as attack timing (a jab wants to be snappy and efficient, long, detailed animations can slow down combat dramatically and make the game difficult to enjoy) I also tried very hard to keep consistent anatomy while adding some stylistic motion and bounce.
Maya- I learned to utilise Maya for quick Greyboxing of ideas in the service of Environmental Concepting and consistent perspective.
Unity- I dove into Sprite scaling and filtering, generally learned the full ins and outs of the Sprite Editor and slice tool, was forced to edit Pivot points to make my animation work, learned 2D Rigging and utilised Layer order for sprite rendering distance correctly.
Programming- I learned some new Character controller programming patterns from the tutorial I was following. Making sprite flipping simpler.
Character Art- I pushed my Character designs hard this module, particularly Portraiting, focusing on expressing personality and creating intriguing, memorable faces. This carried through into Posing, which I used even outside of animating to get character personality across, such as the Goon aggressively preparing to swing his pipe at the viewer. I also pushed my understanding of Anatomy, especially hips and legs, which was always a problem area for me artistically. I also really pumped out those Clothing variations as my portfolio was missing them.
Environmental Art- Environmental concepting does not come naturally to me. Imagining the places and putting them to paper still took a lot of time, trial and error, but I am very proud of the results and believe I have made major and irreversible advancements that make me confident in approaching Environments.
Light & Colour- I explored Colour and Light even further this module as it's always been a low-key problem area for me. learned about colour emotions and 60-30-10 rule as well as exploring expressing character through colours and tones.
Props- Weapons and Environmental Set-dressing. Another area my portfolio was lacking in, so I was happy to rectify this during this project.
Presentation- Another problem area (can you tell I had lots of them). I would often abandon images before they were fully complete, in an inherent effort to 'catch up' and broaden my skillbase but this developed into an inability to get a "finished" look out of my images. So I really doubled down on the process from sketch to final picture and the final graphic design and polishing that gave it that extra oomph. Still a lot to learn here, but we're making strides.
Efficiency- Incorporating AI into the idea-generation phase has been helpful in breaking deadlocks and creating an influx of unique concepts. I also pushed my Thumbnailing by re-using good anatomy as mannequins to provide a lot of variety in concepts efficiently. Greyboxing in Maya has also been a huge time saver for environments and consistent perspective combining this with my new understanding of the Shapes tool for filling makes it much quicker to design geometric areas in perspective.
Project Management- Through the process from concept to final product I learned valuable skills in Time management, adapting to change, finishing, finding solutions and not shying away from a challenge, maintaining productivity without burnout and was forced to adopt a self-promotion mindset.
Video Editing- Something I've been meaning to get around to for ages, being forced to make a self-promotion video finally got me to engage with my editing software. Forcing me to adapt and learn. However I never did manage to figure out the audio balancing which gives it an amateur feel.

Another year has passed, and with it the opportunity to reflect back on all that has happened. While my growth was not as dramatic as last year, I can still see lots of positive change.
I'll never have enough ways to say thank you for all the love and support you have given me this year. On to 2025!

#poorly drawn mdzs#art summary#Since last year's independent variable was PD-WWX; this year I used Lan Wangji.#Unfortunately his appearances were not very evenly distributed this year! Lots of LWJ's early in the year#then a dead period in the middle. He is forever my silly rabbit. I love drawing him!#If I have to put a label on this year; I'd describe it as 'experimental'. I pushed myself to do llots of new things!#I drew lots for dungeon meshi and that really boosted my growth. More body types -clothing details - expressions!#Ryoko Kui is a great artist to learn from and It made me realize that I had a lot to gain from doing more studies.#I also started working on a whole new genre of art! While it has taken a backburner spot - I'm working on a game now!#Digital art was my enemy last year but I have been getting a feel for it now.#Goals for this year is to 1) keep working on my personal projects 2) finish PD-MDZS! and 3) practice animation!#I didn't (couldn't) draw as much as I did last year...but I had to take a lesson in humility and taking care of myself.#Drawing is something I do 'for fun' but there were many times it became more stressful than it should.#I'm still learning how to find and maintain balance with everything life throws at me.#We are all works of progress and I am trying very hard to love the process and the journey! I don't really know my destination!#But I will keep taking steps forwards. I never want to be stuck and lost as I once was.#If 2024 was a rough year for you too; We're in this together. Mirror Dungeon 6:

Alongside the new Abnormalities and EGO Gifts that are presumed to be coming with the next Mirror Dungeon, the Mirror of Immortality will be gaining a new UI, alongside changes to Starlight and will allow Rental Units (preset)
Like the past MD, this will be released over a series of 3-4 Weeks.

Starlight Accumulates rather than being a static max of 120 based on rest bonus for starting Cost and bonus, we can now gain more over time and spend it on the above listed (Not Resets they remain being Cost rather than Starlight)
New EGO gifts will be added regularly

and there will be universal EGO gifts added alongside new packs, not only limited EGO gifts such as those for Intervallo and Bokgak packs.
Walpurgisnacht:

We are able to see the Central Control Team armband on Don so we know that she will indeed be an ID.
2 ID and One EGO will be releasing this Walpurgisnacht.
in the following Walpurgisnacht, we will be once again having a Ruina Guest theme, which seems to confirm the pattern of alternating games.
Real Life things:
HHPP: An animation regarding the finale of Library of Ruina, and merchandise related to it were revealed

From the 24th June to 5th October, HHPP will be themed around the finale of Library of Ruina

Following the Ruina theme, beginning in later October, for the remainder of the year HHPP will be Mili Themed
Food and Drink items based on Mili Songs (eg. Painful Death for the Lactose Intolerant (Or at least I hope they make this one)) Mili Merchandise and HHPP crossover merchandise will be available As the theme begins a bit before the Mili Concert (see below), there will be items related to it as such; "Practical, usable utensil merch", whatever that means.

this intervallo will largely be focused around Xichun (and sinclair) taking classes on how to become a Hierarch(ess) proper, but this intervallo is still in development. Wei ID will presumably be Yi Sang due to his appearance in the Ishmael ID

The Unsevering:
Canto 9 name revealed
The release target is late this year, roughly around Christmas I can assume. Refraction Railway 6 will be skipped to make time for this release target.
If, later in the year, canto 9 release target is infeasible, RR6 and a second intervallo will be made.
Quality of Life and other features:

A non sinner specific EGO and ID selection. Cleaner appearance, all/owned toggle selection, and favorite ID marks for teambuilding. (image 1, top right), EGO resource has been made more readable and teams may now have custom names (Top centre first image)
Enemy readability:

less reading comprehension is required moving forward (not meant condescendingly), various attacks and passives will be marked as seen in the image(s) for clearer priority and ease of play
Lore Accuracy:

Lore accuracy game mechanic. By spending Lunacy, you may revive all sinners mid battle.
No EX rewards will be granted if the revive feature is used. If the fight in question is later nerfed (eg. Final bosses, dungeons, overtuned fights), all lunacy used will be refunded.
Cosmetic ID "Skins":

Due to the process of accounting for differing skill effects, animations, and coin counts, the ID skin system is still in development. They say that we will be able to use a semi global system for the ID skins, so maybe we finally realise the Ideal goal since launch of 12 Fucking Yi Sang.
Game File Optimisation:

While the company does not plan to change how battle animations function, they will be attempting to minimise the file size
Regularly available content and gamemodes:
to encourage players to play, and collect new ID//EGO, the company is planning on adding a new gamemode, one that allows the player to challenge their skills, but on a more permanent basis compared to Refraction Railway
More information will be revealed in future presumably. Potential for threadspinning 5 also mentioned (for EGO)

Project Moon (as a company) moving forward:

The company will not be expanding more than its current size for the foreseeable future.
Various reasons have been given: the Director's lack of management ability and mental fortitude to handle a larger company. Interpersonal relationship stress (as seen before, stating that he didn't want to start seeing employees as numbers)
While the current office of PM/HHPP is a limiting factor, it is largely due to the Director's lack of confidence and preparation in managing anything larger. the current projection is that in two years time, when the company office is finished construction, the Director will be more capable and experienced in leading teams and managing, and will be able to expand the company further then.
The Director hopes to maintain a friendly and smooth working environment.
Direction:

The game has grown significantly larger than the company had ever expected. While this is naturally a good prospect, the company wishes to remain focused largely on creating Limbus as planned, in a reasonable time frame and size, rather than chasing MAU/DAU and sales.
The goal remains at the company to tell the story of the city from beginning to end. As of current, though unfortunate, they are unable to take advantage of this sudden uptake in popularity.
