Pairing 1: Protectshipping (Ryou Bakura/Hiroto Honda|Tristan Taylor)

Propaganda: Tristan’s so loyal and dependable, and he pays more attention to Ryo than probably any other character does, and it’s what Ryo needs after everything he’s been through. He’d listen if Ryo wants to talk about his troubles, he’d remember little random details about him, and he wouldn’t make a big deal about these things, but they’d mean so much to Ryo, and he’d let Tristan know how much he appreciates his efforts.  I also think it’s interesting how Ryo looks soft and gentle, but is also really strong and brave, while Tristan looks tough (and can be), but is more sensitive than he’d probably like to admit. A lot of Protectshipping fics are more about Tristan taking care of Ryo, which makes sense and I love it, but I think it’d go both ways - Ryo would want to be there for Tristan if he was going through a difficult time, and I like the idea of Tristan being able to confide in him, especially post-canon when the Ring’s gone and he’s doing better mentally. He might still have some trouble putting his feelings into words (as we saw in chapter 7), but Ryo would be patient with him and let him say whatever he needs to, and I think he’d give pretty good advice too.  I just think it has the potential to be a really tender, caring relationship, and they both deserve that. ^-^

Pairing 2: Snareshipping (Katsuya Jounouchi|Joey Wheeler/Ryuji Otogi|Duke Devlin)

Propaganda: They would make an amazing couple and would definitely get married | They plague my mind every waking moment. Their chemistry is insane and theyre both so hot. | They look cool together n have that playful sorta rival dynamic. Also dog costume dont forget that XD

Well I won't say no when you ask so nicely! ☺️ Anybody is free to submit a Whump Wheel ask still, but I am also working on a new shipfic ask game (based on @sesshy380's mystery prompt one) that I'll be doing soonish!

Okay, you get a fantasy AU for this one! Hope you like fantasy!

Ryou is an elven warlock (spooky boy supreme sold his soul to Zorc for magical powers), Tristan is a human paladin (strong moral compass, lawful good), and Joey is a dragonborn warrior (dragon!Joey gives me life, and he's a fighter at heart). They're on a quest to find the Magical MacGuffin, or maybe just being adventurers for the fun of it, and get lost in the woods on their way to their next destination. While lost, they encounter a band of highwaymen and while together they manage to fight them all off, Joey still takes an arrow to the side! Oh no! He tries so hard not to let it show how much the injury hurts him, because he's a big tough guy, but Tristan calls him out and forces them to set up camp at least temporarily so that he can safely remove the arrow from the wound and get it properly dressed. Ryou is fascinated with the injury (he's not the slightest bit put off by gore) and tries to comfort Joey with the assurance that he's going to have a really cool scar as a result. When Joey is patched up, they head back to the town they'd just left in order to find a healer. Ryou keeps the arrowhead as a souvenir, Tristan gives Joey a stern talking to about being careful and not taking risks (that's how he shows his care), and Joey is just very embarrassed to have been caught by the arrow at all. Once he's feeling more better, Tristan tells Joey that he can always make up whatever fun story he wants for explaining the scar, and that does cheer him up quite a bit.

Me: Honda's English name is Tristan, which is an obvious reference to the Arthurian myth of Tristan and Isolte. In this case, I suggest that Ryou takes the "Isolte" role and Yami Bakura takes the role of King Mark, plus Duke suggesting the role of Dinadan as a pragmatic and sarcastic contrast to Tristan's conception of chivalry and constant decision to protect the "Isolte" in the relationship. The final nail in the coffin? Ryou has a British accent and the story of Tristan and Isolte is from a mythological cycle called the Matter of Britain

This was originally going to be for day 3 of Rarepair Week 2024, and the prompt I chose was Hurt/Comfort. @mywaywardcupcake posted a HC once about Tristan having nightmares about losing Ryo and/or Joey and I couldn't not adopt it, so credit to them for the idea! (Seriously you two stop with the near-death/sometimes ACTUAL death experiences for five minutes, your boyfriend and his protective instincts can't handle it. 😟)

That makes, what, 6 Carryship fanworks on the entire internet now? Maybe 7? Wonder if there'll be 10 by the end of next year... 🤔 (Unless each of my Sims screenshots counts separately?)
