WHAT a bargain! The owners of this 1894 Queen Anne Victorian in Campbellsburg, IN took the goth theme and ran with it. If you like your Victorians dark and moody, this 4bd, 2ba is for you. Asking $299,900. (Zillow says $293,400, so you could probably get them to come down.)
Tumblr media
Welcome. Already, I see the creepy nun's portrait and a witches broom on the wall.
Tumblr media
An iconic peacock chair painted black. Looks good in black.
Tumblr media
Notice that they didn't touch the original wood. Everything's intact and beautifully preserved.
Tumblr media
Okay so they fitted the fireplace with a mirror. I wonder if the hearth is still there if you remove it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The moody sitting room. You can see the gingerbread millwork over the door way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This parlor is a TV room. Orange walls and black ceiling. Perfect for Halloween all year decor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, wow, look at the dining room. I wonder if they'll leave the hanging candle lights. Looks the Hogwarts's dining room. You probably have to climb up and turn those on individually.
Tumblr media
And, here it is w/the lights on. (My ex and I loved antique kerosene lamps and we had them all lit when my parents came to dinner. My mother said, "Put the lights on, daddy's getting nervous.")
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What do you think of the black and gold kitchen?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The stove is like a hybrid cross between modern and vintage. I wonder if a black dishwasher & fridge would've been too much, which is why they chose white?
Tumblr media
I think that this is a main floor bedroom.
Tumblr media
The main floor bath and laundry. Cute sink.
Tumblr media
Upstairs landing.
Tumblr media
This is nice games, books, and puzzles.
Tumblr media
The primary bedroom has a beautiful round window.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is fun, a cute sitting area in the bedroom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, I like this vintage bath. Gorgeous sink.
Tumblr media
Oh, look at the beautiful gazebo.
Tumblr media
And, the perfect she shed next to it.
Tumblr media
Plus, a 2 car garage. .48 acre lot.

Roueche House
Meadville
Architects: Albert A. Huttelmayer, Roueche Bros*
My favorite house on planet earth. When I was a kid, it was purple. Rumor has it that the brothers built this and a similar one(in saegertown pa) in a race, brother to brother.
*can’t find direct links to the architect or the builders but, will keep looking. Because is that the same theater building Huttelmayer?

Well, after looking at hundreds of restored homes so boring in white &/or gray, I finally came across an original. This is the Dolon House, built in 1888 in Jim Thorpe, PA. It's currently a B&B, 7bds, 7ba, $1.9M.
Tumblr media
It's a center hall Queen Anne.
Tumblr media
Beautiful wood work- look at the newel post and railing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's a grand Queen Anne, decorated to capacity. And, guess what? It can all be yours b/c this property/business is truly “turn-key.” It includes art, collections, and antique furnishings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a professional stove with a remnant of the old brick fireplace.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kitchen's large and cute, but set up for a business.
Tumblr media
Sweet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dining room is set up for breakfast.
Tumblr media
You get all the dishes, etc.
Tumblr media
I guess the liquor is there in case someone wants a drink for breakfast.
Tumblr media
This is really nice.
Tumblr media
Lovely vintage bath. Beautiful pedestal sink.
Tumblr media
Nice fireplace in this bedroom. I would probably sell half of this stuff. It's too much. It may some guests nervous.
Tumblr media
The baths have been redone.
Tumblr media
This is gorgeous. There's too much stuff around to appreciate the beauty of this millwork.
Tumblr media
There's a beautiful piece.
Tumblr media
Here's another lovely suite.
Tumblr media
It has a simple, renovated bath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's a cool room, it has a little sitting area in the tower. Look at the base molding.
Tumblr media
Lovely sitting room.
Tumblr media
Beautiful area in the tower.
Tumblr media
They have little school benches & a table on the porch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's located on a lovely street with a view of the mountains.

Special touches in the dining room include the slipcovering of alternate chairs to give variety and the use of a starched white tablecloth over a patterned one. On the table, basil plants in china pots scent the air more deliciously than any potpourri.
