Meet RAMPAGE: HYH’s Pop-Rock Royals Ready to Redefine the Sound
Published by The Written Pages
HYH Entertainment—renowned for its musical excellence and standing as one of the industry's most influential giants—has been home to some of the biggest names, including the chart-topping pop sensations SPRY and EVANGELION!
While HYH has been busy with the promotions of SPRY’s latest comeback, Blackout, and had just wrapped up EVANGELION's performance and LAPLACE's successful concert in Tokyo last November, the company shows no signs of slowing down.
Chairman and founder, Yanhao Huang, announced the debut of their new girl group, brat in October earlier last year, whilst ALYUR Entertainment (subdivision under HYH) released a brand new boy group Dopamine in December.
In addition to their powerhouse roster, a brand new group is rising to the stage with a different approach to the music industry compared to the company’s existing idol groups.
Starting off the new year with a new sound, HYH has introduced RAMPAGE (램페이지 in Korean), a four-member group, consisting of Jack Song, Mylo Park, Alyx Lee and Reira Marsh.
Unlike the other artists under the label, RAMPAGE showcases their music through live performances, with each member playing their own designated instruments as a live band.
“Alyx and I were just talking about it in passing,” 23-year-old Jack, the group’s leader and drummer says when asked about the group’s origins during the interview, “we were playing around in the studio when Alyx said something about starting a band.”
“I wasn’t serious about it really, but Jack was sold on the idea.” the bassist, Alyx, chimes in, “and somehow word spread to the chairman and here we are!”
The team first started out with the two, later being assigned to performance director Jamie Alexis Jeon as they built on ideas on the concept of the group.
“We began looking for other members,” Jack recalls, “auditions were held every other day in HYH, and our director was able to sneak us into a few. That’s where we met the other two.”
The group was rumoured to initially consist only of male artists until Reira had auditioned, and it later became a unanimous decision to appoint her as the vocalist of the group.
Guitarist Mylo, auditioned much later as the band looked for its last member. The 21-year-old aspired to become like this favourite idol, SPRY’s Zai, leading him to audition with his signature white Stratocaster. His performance impressed the band, and he was quickly brought into the fold.

After releasing their first mini album, RAMPAGE: The First EP on January 23rd, the group has slowly begun to garner attention from the public with their pop-rock sound.
“We work really well together,” Reira explains, emphasising the group’s chemistry both at work and as friends, “We work on our songs together and everyone gives feedback here and there to create the best possible tracks we can.”
Outside the studio, the four like to spend time together and share meals even after a long day of work, often resorting to Jack’s apartment complex as their usual hangout spot.
But even with their close-knit friendship, the band occasionally faces problems of their own.
When asked if any conflicts or arguments arise during group discussions, Mylo laughs and is quick to make a remark, “Definitely,” he answers, “especially Jack and Alyx. They often have disputes over small details but when they’re able to work it out, the songs come out pretty amazing.”
Although hesitant, Jack admits to the statement with a shy smile, “I mean, we’re still trying to find a signature sound, so we do argue often.”
“We’re always brainstorming new ideas and we love making music, and we hope people enjoy listening to our songs as much as we do creating them.” Alyx concludes, and the others firmly nod, sharing the same sentiment.
As the group continues to explore their music, the members hope that the fans and the public stay tuned for the long, and hopefully fruitful, journey ahead.
