( @tracelessrpââ Open Starter ) Location: Traceless Village
Daniel took in his surroundings, doing his best not to look like a gawking tourist and certainly failing at it. Heâd been to the village Traceless cafĂ© was actually located in exactly once before, when his friend David had come clean with him about the reality that supernatural beings did, in fact, exist. That had been two days ago, and so he was still feeling rather shell shocked about the revelation that his preferred cafĂ© in London had actually been in a small town in Austria all along.
After a little wandering, he found himself standing in front of a newsstand. Instead of just having local papers, he noticed it had newspapers for all sorts of places. He was just starting to take a look at which places there were, exactly, when he realized that he was rather in the way of someone else who was approaching. âOh, Iâm sorry!â He quickly moved aside so that they could get their newspaper, whichever it was they might want.

Yona wasnât really sure what the Ethereal Realm was like, but it sounded like it had dragons. Yes, based purely on this brief, confused conversation, Yona assumed that Daniel was a fae. What else would make sense? Mostly drawings⊠What else was she supposed to think? âHow to Train Your Dragon is like my favorite movie. Or, well, I have three favorite movies. No, four. Itâs difficult to pick. Anyway, there are definitely multiple dragons in the Shrek franchise. Hybrids count, right? Do you think that donkey/dragon hybrids would be able to pass as a a weird lizard in the human world?â It was very important to clarify that she meant âhumanâ rather than ârealâ because fae had their own rules that Yona hadnât bothered learning about. If they had actual dragons in there, who knew what pets looked like? Ugh, she wanted to know now.
-
If Yona had seen How to Train Your Dragon, Daniel really had no idea what she thought he was so lucky for. âErm-â he wasnât really sure how to answer these questions. âI suppose a hybrid might count as a dragon? Iâm really not sure, though.â If it was all made up then he didnât see why not. âI reckon a donkey and dragon hybrid would... look like a donkey and dragon hybrid, not an unusual lizard? Thatâs what happened in the film, right?âÂ

Sofia raised a single eyebrow, head slowly tilting to one side as Daniel seemed to almost squirm, or maybe he was just feeling awkward and thatâs how her mind was reading the movement. Either way, it was amusing her. Her lips wrapped around the straw as she eyeballed him, as he said that he just wanted to see how she was, Sofia almost scoffed. Why did this â random man want to know how she was doing? No one ever just wanted to chat if they didnât know the person. So clearly he wanted something. What that something was, she had no idea, but â Her brow furrowed and she almost reared back at his words.
âLast time we spoke?â she asked, okay so clearly Chloe must have talked to this random human when they switched bodies. Shit. She had no idea what this person thought of her, or knew of herâŠ. Though from his smell, she figured he wasnât a supernatural creature. And she really doubted that Chloe would have told someone her secret. She let the question hang in the air, let him have a moment to try to explain himselfâŠ.. She really didnât want to fuck with this poor manâs mind if he didnât know about supernatural and she slipped up and told him something he shouldnât know.
.
âYeah, erm-â Daniel stalled, not really sure what to say next. It almost seemed as though Sofia had entirely forgotten their last conversation, which was rather odd considering how upset sheâd been at the time. Or how upset heâd thought sheâd been? Perhaps the whole thing hadnât been as big of a deal as heâd thought, after all. âWe talked about different cafes in the area? For a moment it sort of seemed as if you wanted me to stop coming here...â he hesitated, feeling rather awkward for admitting that. It wasnât the sort of thing heâd say under ordinary circumstances, but he didnât really know what else to do since Sofia seemed to want to know why he was apologizing. âI mustâve imagined it, though. Sorry, I didnât mean to bother you.âÂ

David squinted, a little confused by Danielâs question.  The answer was no, he hadnât been to the Wenlock Arms, but he was fairly sure that wasnât in Spurlosïżœïżœïżœoh.  It clicked in his head.  How had he known Daniel for these months, and not realized he didnât know about the town?  Didnât he talk to a lot of residents here?  Was there an inside joke everyone was playing on the guy, and David was left out of it?  Shoot, he could have blown everyoneâs ruse.  âIâŠâ  And then that was another matter.  Leaving Spurlos.  Now, David had left quite a few times over the years, but they were always at his sisterâs or his parentsâ insistence, and the visits never got any easier.  His stomach twisted in anxiety, and he ran his mind through the usual excuses.  But he realized, he might not ever get another opportunity to hang out with Daniel, which was something he wanted to do.  If he said no now, whoâs to say Daniel wouldnât make excuses not to in return?  Or never ask him again?  âSure, that sounds fun,â he replied finally.  âI donât think Iâve ever been there,â he was positive he hadnât, âWhatâs the food like?â David forged a smile.
Daniel wasnât quite sure what to make of Davidâs reaction, unless... oh no, had he been wrong in thinking they were friends, after all? A long pause like that surely meant that David was trying to think of a polite way to decline the offer when heâd already said that he didnât have much in the way of plans for the evening. He nearly started to fidget but stopped himself, taking a deep breath instead as he prepared for the inevitable response. When it didnât come he blinked in surprise, but quickly recovered. Perhaps heâd imagined Davidâs apprehension? Either that, or the man had some reason to accept other than actually wanting to go, though Daniel couldnât imagine what that might be. âGreat! Letâs go then,â he replied brightly, leading the way over to the door. âOh, you know, the usual pub fare - bangers and mash, fish and chips and the like. They do quite a good job of it though,â he answered as he pulled the door open, holding it for David to step on out ahead of him. âI reckon I might go for the shepherdâs pie today,â he mused.

âDepends on the country. Dragons that donât have wings in some countries are called wyrms. With a y. I think itâs a stylistic choice.â Yona mainly meant England, actually, but didnât quite say the name. She also didnât feel like pointing out that Daniel sounded English because he could have come in through any door, honestly. âBut whoa, youâve gotta tell me everything about the dragons you have seen, though. Youâre so lucky.â What she would give to ride a dragon⊠Or, well, hang out. Even get a glimpse! Anything dragon-adjacent was very cool. Good to know, though, that the dragons that Daniel had seen all had legs.
Daniel thought that âsome countriesâ was a rather odd way to describe places where Wyrms were a part of the local mythology, considering they were in one of those countries as they spoke. It was perfectly possible that Yona wasnât sure if this was one such country though - especially considering it didnât seem as though she was from around here originally, if her American accent was any indication. He didnât have time to consider that any further though, before he was thrust into an entirely new level of confusion. For the life of him, he couldnât work out what Yona meant when she said that he was lucky for having seen dragons - she must have seen some depictions as well, right? It wasnât as though such imagery was particularly rare or guarded. Still, who was he to deny her request? âErm... Iâve seen a few different sorts? Mostly just drawings I suppose... Iâm afraid Iâm not quite certain where to find the exact ones. Or if you wanted a movie, maybe How to Train Your Dragon? Or Shrek, but I think itâs just the one dragon in that film.â

âUh⊠Okay, I guess.â Yona looked at Daniel with a vacant expression. Okay, maybe the two of them had met briefly, but Yona sure didnât remember it. Where could this have possibly been? Or was this guy some sort of weird stalker? Both were real possibilities here. How many people were out there with her appearance and unusual name? Not so many. âMmkay, thatâs cool. So⊠how do you feel about dragons? Like the different kinds of dragons. Iâve been thinking about how itâs not really a dragon if thereâs no legs, but sometimes they look really good if you draw them without legs.â She was just trying to keep busy and deter those Watchers.
Daniel really had no idea what was happening in this conversation - first Yona thought he was a psychic and was talking to him to avoid the ramifications of a prank she seemed to have played, then the subject had rapidly changed from there to his haircare to... dragons? There really was no way to make sense of it, as far as he could tell. âErm - I reckon itâd still be a dragon?â Mainly because he wasnât sure what else it might be. âThere are some dragons that donât have wings and theyâre still dragons, right?â He didnât have the faintest clue if that was right or not, but it made about as much sense as anything else that was happening right now. âI suppose Iâm not sure though - Iâve never seen a dragon without legs,â he admitted.

Sofia ran a hand through her hair tousling it until she felt happy with how it hung on her head. She let out a little sigh and leaned on the coffee bar waiting for her drink to be made. She was somewhat zoned out â she didnât need a drink, but she had heard that the cafe had started to making some new drinks that helped with vampire hunger â basically just a coffee drink with blood instead. She was somewhat zoned out when she felt eyes lingering on her.
Brown eyes darted over to the source of the feeling â only to see a boy watching her. She raised an eyebrow, head cocked to one side. Did she know him? There was a feeling that she did, but â she had no memory of his face. No recognition flashed in her mind. It was as if her body recognized a feeling of a familiar presence. Which, she guessed, could be true. Who knew who Chloe had talked to. She sighed and as her drink was set down in front of her she wrapped her fingers around the cup and strolled towards him.
Setting her cup down at the table next to his she smirked, âLike what you see?â she asked with a little chuckle. âOr did you have something you wanted to say?â She asked taking a sip and glancing to him.
Daniel offered an awkward smile and a tiny wave when Sofia looked up, not really sure what else to do. He wouldnât say that heâd quite been looking in her direction long enough to be staring, but there was no way for her to know that - only that when sheâd looked, there heâd been. He started to look away again so that she could go about her own business, only to turn back in surprise when he realized she was making her way on over. Maybe he hadnât upset her quite as much as heâd thought the last time they had spoken? That was possible - it wasnât as if heâd been able to determine how any of what heâd said might have been upsetting, after all. Or maybe she was still upset and was coming over to tell him off? He wasnât really sure what to expect, but it certainly wasnât the greeting he got.Â
âOh! Erm - I just wanted to say hello and see how youâre doing,â he answered, a little startled by how differently Sofia was behaving today in comparison to the last time theyâd met. Should he apologize for how things went the last time? It seemed like a good idea, except that suddenly he couldnât tell at all if Sofia was upset with him after all. It was probably well worth it nonetheless - it was always better to over-apologize than under-apologize, as far as he was concerned. âI also wanted to apologize, about last time we spoke - Iâm not sure if I said something to upset you, but if I did - that wasnât my intent at all.â He wanted to promise he wouldnât do it again, but he also was lacking even the faintest idea of what he might have said that had led to a reaction like the one heâd gotten.Â

Daniel had seemed completely engrossed in his book the whole afternoon, David wouldnât have considered interrupting him until heâd gotten up to leave.  "Well,â David decided for the sake of not sounding like a complete slob, that he would omit a few details of his planned evening.  "Not really.  I think Iâm going to go home and grab some leftovers.  I havenât eaten since before my shift. And then after that⊠Not sure. Do you have a usual pub you go to?â  David himself did, if Thirst nâ Howl fried foods counted for being a bar regular.
"I dunno if Iâd say I have one usual, but there are a few I like. Have you been to the Wenlock Arms, a few blocks down from here? I reckon thatâs where Iâm headed tonight.â He paused, considering. David didnât have any plans for the evening, so... âActually, why donât you come with? If youâd like to, I mean.â It would be nice, having a chance to hang out with David outside of his place of work. Assuming they were friends, as he hoped? If not, he supposed he would find out now. Not that that would be the only reason David might have to refuse an invitation of course, even if he didnât have any other plans... right?

After shaking his hand Aurora let her own fall back to her side, she then nodded her head, âSounds reasonableâ she flicked her phone out of her pocket and handed it over to him, unlocked, so he could add his number. Aurora then lifted her drink to her lips and took a long sip, the warmth and caffeine starting to kick in and wake her up a bit more. âOh. Hairspray.â she said and while it was a bit matter of fact, there was a hint of excitement too. âI saw Hairspray once, ages ago. Quite a good show. Iâll have to come see you preform.â She smiled over the edge of her cup and cocked her head to one side, âWhat other shows have you been in?â
It came as a relief when Aurora handed over her phone, evidently not concerned that he might be some sort of creep. He put in his name and phone number and passed the phone back over to her, relaxing somewhat now that this phone number business was taken care of. âYeah? Well - I wouldnât say you have to come see it, but - youâre certainly welcome to.â He was happy to have provided her with an idea on something she could do in town though, and pleased to have met someone who seemed interested in theater. âProfessionally? Erm, not too much - thereâve been a few small projects, and I was in an off West End production of Fiddler on the Roof for a while, and then Billy Elliot - not as Billy, of course.â It was a relatively short list, but then - it wasnât really as though heâd been out of school long enough to have a whole lot more under his belt.Â

âMaybe you should time it if- Whoa, wait a minute. How do you know my name? Are you a psychic, guy-man?â She meant âwitchâ or âclairvoyant werewolf,â but psychic was a convenient shorthand. âItâs nothing you need to think too hard about. Everythingâs fine, and Iâm going to try not to think too hard about it.â She didnât want anybody reading her surface thoughts and finding out anything else that they shouldnât. âJust tell me more about your hair. Do you use a lot of product? Does it naturally do the thwoopy thing?â
âNo...?â Daniel was so taken aback by Yona leaping to the conclusion that he might be a psychic that it took him a moment to figure out how best to respond âWeâve met, briefly. Iâm Daniel,â he reintroduced, feeling a little awkward about the matter. He didnât mind that Yona seemed to have forgotten, but he did hope that she wouldnât think him rude for pointing out that they had met, nor feel embarrassed over it. Concerned as he was about sparing her feelings, he still couldnât help but frown slightly in concern at Yonaâs unwillingness to divulge any further details about what had happened with the employee. Perhaps he would check in on the people behind the counter on his way out, and make sure they were alright? In any case, for the time being it was probably best if he answered Yonaâs question. âSort of? It - gets partway there on its own. I do use some product though.â

Daniel was right, Briar needed to grab a beverage if they were going to be sitting outside at their tables. It was only right, after all. âIâm going to go order the most sugary drink I can come up with!â Briar announced as she made her way towards the counter. Once she had given the order to the barista, whose name she thought was Mike, Briar made her way back to Daniel with a grin on her face. âYou can tell me all about what has been happening since Iâve seen you last. Is there a new show announced yet?â After a few minutes, Briar grabbed her coffee and made her way outside to the tables that were unoccupied. It was lucky that half the clientele were vampires that couldnât really sit outside in the sunlight.Â
âSounds like a plan,â Daniel agreed, chuckling at Briars decision to get the most sugary drink she could come up with. Something like that wasnât to his tastes personally, but it wasnât surprising that Briar would favor something sweet. Once she had her drink in hand, he led the way on out to the cafeâs London storefront, where a few tables sat out despite rarely being occupied. Daniel had no way of knowing that most of the cafeâs clientele would probably sit outside in a different country entirely if they chose to sit outdoors, nor did he have the slightest inkling that many of those who had been in the cafĂ© would never willingly sit out in the sunlight no matter the location. So as far as he was concerned, it was rather lucky that they had their pick of seats, if a bit odd considering how nice of a day it was outside and how crowded it had been inside. âA new show? Nothingâs been announced yet, but I did hear a rumor that Newsies might be debuting on the West End at last before too long.â He hoped the rumor was true - but really, he wouldnât be surprised if it had started off as someone just loudly hoping it would be coming soon and the rumor mill taking it from there. âI sâpose weâll have to wait and see if itâs true or not. Dâyou think youâd audition, if it does?âÂ

Daniel was just finishing up with his tea when he noticed a phone on the floor, not too far away from the line leading up to the counter. He glanced around, trying to guess whose it might be. It wasnât right next to anyone in line and nobody seemed to be stooping to pick it up, so - maybe someone who wasnât in the line anymore? He caught sight of someone walking away from the line with a latte in tow, and decided they were the phoneâs most likely owner. That in mind he made his way over to ask, jumping slightly when they turned and addressed him so sharply. âOh, erm - I was just wondering if this is your phone? Iâm sorry, I didnât mean to bother you, I just - I saw it on the floor near where you were and I didnât want you walking out of here without it if it was,â he explained cautiously.

Isobel wasnât taking the situation too well. For one, they knew full well if Millie hadnât got there in time, they could have very well gotten shot, or much worse. They hadnât watched what they were doing, and now, because of them, Millie was getting heat for something that wasnât her fault, and Isobel had put themselves in a position where their sister could have also gotten hurt. The screaming from not only Morgana but also Lilith was worse than anything that happened at Isobelâs shop. But, like all situations that involved Isobelâs feelings, they were trying to keep it hidden. But it was getting difficult as the day wore on. They walked out of the coffee line, latte in hand, and turned sharply at someone coming in their line of vision. âWhat?â Isobel asked sharply.

Daniel looked up, a little surprised to be addressed as âman-guyâ, particularly by Yona. âOh - hi, Yona! Erm - it takes a little while? Not too long though, I suppose, though I havenât really timed it.â He wasnât really sure why this was the line of conversation they were going down. He was much more curious about what Yona had done to upset someone, but wasnât quite sure how to ask without upsetting her. Perhaps if he was very delicate about it, that would be alright? âNot that I mind talking about my hair, but... what exactly happened with the person who works here? Is everyone alright?â
@danieleansworthâ
âHey! Hey, man-guy! Are you busy?â Yona asked the first person that she saw who was sitting alone in the cafe. âI might have pissed off one of the people who works here, and I need to look occupied.â By âpeople who work here,â Yona meant one of the Watchers, but she wasnât entirely clear on what their jobs were even after living in Traceless for four years. Whatever the job structure was, she had played a prank on one of the Watchers that had gone wrong, and evading consequences sounded like a good plan to her. âI donât know. How long does it take to get your hair to do the thing in the morning? Talk to me.â

It was shaping up to be quite a nice day for Daniel - or rather, at this point it was evening. Heâd stopped by the cafĂ© some hours ago with a book and the intent to grab a tea and read a couple chapters, but it seemed the time had rather gotten away from him. He checked the time and was rather surprised to find that heâd been sitting there with his book for several hours now, but at least that explained why he was feeling rather hungry. Perhaps he ought to buy a pastry or something from the cafĂ©, after sitting in it for so long after making his initial purchase? What he really wanted was supper though, so maybe he would just have to make up for his loitering now by purchasing more from the cafĂ© next time he stopped by.Â
Mind made up, he had just gotten to his feet when David caught his attention. âOh, hey David!â Daniel greeted, pleased to see his friend. Could David be considered his friend, if the two only spoke at Davidâs place of work? Daniel certainly hoped so. âI reckon I might go down the pub for a bite to eat, in a few minutes here. What about you? Any plans for the evening?â

David had a long, hard shift. Â When he finally got off for the evening, he figured he was in for a night of falling asleep on his recliner while watching Scrubs and eating some leftover pasta. Â When he saw Daniel sitting over at a table, he erased those big dreams out of his mind for the moment as we walked over to him. Â Heâd known Daniel for maybe, three months now? Â David thought he was pretty cool with his swoopy hair and his friendly personality, but they didnât have a lot of opportunities to see each other outside of his work. Â Daniel didnât live in Traceless, and David didnât usually leave Traceless. Â "Hey!â He waved. âWhat are you up to?â Â He asked his friend.

( Closed starter @devilsroastâ - Sofia )
Looking for a place to sit, Daniel glanced around Traceless cafĂ©. It was a little busier than it had been some of the times heâd stopped in lately, which was a relief - heâd hate for the place to go out of business so soon after heâd found it. Of course, the cafĂ© being relatively crowded also meant that, well, there were a lot of people he caught sight of as he glanced about for an unoccupied space.Â
His quest for available seating was suddenly brought to a halt however when he caught sight of one person in particular, who heâd definitely met before - Sofia. Theyâd only spoken once, and since then heâd managed to convince himself that she hated him. Sheâd spent much of the conversation trying to convince him to stop coming to this cafĂ© in favor of another after all, and had departed said conversation with what was rather obviously an excuse. At least, he was fairly certain Sofia wasnât just someone who needed to wash her hands so frequently as to have that interrupt conversations she was genuinely interested in having.
The trouble was, now that heâd noticed her he wasnât sure what to do. Normally when he saw someone he knew he did the polite thing and greeted them, but was that really the polite thing if the person in question didnât enjoy his company? Or maybe he really was overthinking things and she didnât dislike him after all, in which case it would be completely awful of him to ignore her. But then - what if she really did dislike him? Caught in an endless loop of consideration, he wound up standing there, looking in her direction for longer than heâd like - possibly even a moment longer than was polite.Â

Briar needed to remember that Daniel just a regular old human and didnât know the existence of the town that Traceless Cafe was the front for. She was always doing something to slip up and tell him all about the sleepy town. It would be too much to reveal to him and Briar never wanted to do anything that may end up hurting Daniel in the long run. âI have plenty of time!â Briar spoke cheerfully as she wrapped her arm through Danielâs and began walking rather aimlessly. âOh! Maybe you should lead, you know where weâre going.â Getting lost was one of her specialties, Daniel didnât need to suffer the consequences of that.
âSure,â Daniel agreed brightly, glancing away when he heard his name called. âThatâll be my drink.â He headed over to the counter to pick it up, then turned to Briar. âWhat dâyou reckon we sit outside? Itâs a lovely day out.â There were a couple tables outside the cafĂ© that were seldom occupied - a little odd considering the cafĂ© itself lacked windows, but he wasnât going to complain that meant he could have a seat outdoors whenever he fancied. âDid you want to get anything before we head out, though?â He imagined not considering she seemed to be more in the mood for gum, but one never knew for certain.Â

âIt- it could be something to consider. Coffeeshops are very nice. This is a nice place, but so is that one. Is the tea that much better here?â Chloe tended to go for tea too, but she had to go for decaffeinated or herbal everything. Well, sometimes she got the real stuff, but regretted it pretty swiftly. But now she couldnât drink anything without it being a weird experience. Nothing tasted right. âMaybe I should- I think I might be busy. Itâs so lovely to chat, but I should- I should really go. To, uh, wash my hands.â She couldnât go outside at this hour, so the bathroom was the only safe place. This was awful, but the conversation was not going well at all.
âOh, erm - alright,â Daniel agreed. This sounded like a rather obvious excuse to get away, making him wonder not for the first time in this conversation if heâd done something to offend. Ultimately, all he could do was hope that if their paths crossed again, he could avoid whatever pitfall had made this conversation so uncomfortable for her. âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to disturb you - Iâll leave you to that, then.â
