A nice illustration of how the RSS and their progeny create deception: the defamatory propaganda they are indulging in about Tipu Sultan. Tipu Sultan's reign was from 1782 to 1799. The Sangh Parivar's RSS scholars contend that Tipu Sultan was involved in the religious conversion of 69,000 Hindus in Kodagu (then Coorg) into Islam. Examine the population details of Kodagu district in the state gazetteer any which way mathematically and the population of Coorg at the time never crosses the upper limit of 69,000. If their contentions are true, then shouldn't Kodagu be entirely Muslim by now? However, Kodagu's muslim population stands at about 15% today. The RSS scholars are blind to this, nor does it puzzle them. Sow the seeds of deceit, and watch it grow. Tragically, these seeds of deceit are growing. The RSS and its family are even harvesting this crop of chicanery. It is evident from these that there is no Godliness in them. Deceit is their deity. It appears that these factories of deceit have strangled their own conscience.

The endangered lit brick
This is a crosspost of my newsletter! If youâd like to get posts like this direct to your inbox or RSS reader, subscribe here.
A friend of mine is currently having his novel shopped around by an agent, and what he's been hearing back is that the Big Five publishers almost exclusively want books with wordcounts of around 100 000 (to the point where authors with longer manuscripts, especially debut authors, are being told they should trim down to that length).
Near as I can tell, this has not always been the case; I can personally recall many authors within the last 30 years or so who debuted with 600-page doorstoppers. But longer books are more expensive to edit and manufacture, and so I can't help but wonder if this is a cost-cutting measure â publishers trying to produce their books as cheaply as possible, in order to squeeze more money out of each sale.
I don't exactly miss the 600-page doorstoppers, but it's good to remember that even the literary world isn't immune to the siren song of enshittification.

Workers forced to stay at factory drowned during Hurricane Helene â while CEO snuck out and survived, scathing lawsuit claims
An hour later at 11:35 a.m., senior management including Impact Plastics founder and CEO Gerald OâConnor had âstealthily exited the building,â according to court papers. Workers had assumed they also were allowed to go home as local schools and other businesses announced closures because of Hurricane Helene, the suit alleges. Instead, Impact Plastics allegedly instructed its employees to report to work because the company âwanted to meet order deadlines,â court documents show.
FIN7 hackers set up a fake company to recruit for cyberattacks
Much like the website, Bastion Secureâs advertised vacancies look legitimate enough, too. The fictitious company is looking for programmers, system administrators and reverse-engineers, and the job descriptions are similar to those youâd find at any cybersecurity company. But Recorded Future said that FIN7 â under the guise of Bastion Secure â is looking to build a âstaffâ capable of conducting the tasks necessary for undertaking a range of cybercriminal activity.
When Does Instagram Decide a Nipple Becomes Female?
âI'm really interested in algorithmic enforcement and generally understanding the impact that algorithms have on our lives,â Ada Ada Ada told me in an interview. âIt seemed like the nipple rule is one of the simplest ways that you can start talking about this because it's set up as a very binary ideaâfemale nipples no, male nipples, yes. But then it prompts a lot of questions: what is male nipple? What is a female nipple?â

Maldives Launches First Salt Factory Introducing Locally Made Edible Salt to Global Markets
The Maldives has officially launched its first salt manufacturing facility in Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo, introducing a new chapter in local industry and export potential. This milestone was made possible through a collaborative venture between Maldivian enterprise M. Deep Investment and a Japanese partner, opening the door to international trade, with initial exports already reaching Japanese markets. The facility spans 15,000 square feet on land leased for 15 years from the Dhidhdhoo Council. It stands as a direct response to an investment call from the council, which resulted in a partnership that is now bringing economic and employment benefits to the local community. Residents have begun securing new jobs through the initiative, while the council gains additional income from land leasing. The interest in salt production emerged after laboratory analysis in Japan revealed that seawater from the Maldives possessed a particularly rich mineral composition, ideal for producing high-quality salt. Encouraged by these promising results, the construction of the factory began last year and has now culminated in a fully operational plant. Using eco-friendly methods, the facility harnesses natural sunlight and heat for seawater evaporation, and currently produces three varieties of edible salt. Each batch undergoes a meticulous week-long process involving filtration, purification, and evaporation to ensure purity and taste. The company is also conducting trials for producing salt used in curing fish, aiming to diversify its offerings for both local and international markets. To maintain world-class standards, salt produced at the Dhidhdhoo factory undergoes routine testing in both the Maldives and Japan. These assessments are integral to the companyâs commitment to quality and consistency, aligning with global food safety and production benchmarks. Looking ahead, the M. Deep Investment has has announced plans to expand its operations by establishing four more salt production facilities across the Maldives. These upcoming ventures aim to meet growing demand among local luxury resorts and island communities, strengthening the Maldivesâ position as a supplier of high-quality, sustainably produced salt to both domestic and international markets. This achievement marks a promising step toward economic diversification for the Maldives, showcasing how innovation and international collaboration can harness the countryâs natural resources for sustainable growth and global reach. Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia! âď¸
Iâve been informally working with a co-worker answering questions about building out hybrid native applications and itâs been wonderful. I also had opportunity to work on more React Native to iOS code with another developer. Total blast. It hit all my happy buttons.
All that happiness was destroyed later Friday afternoon, but thatâs a story for another day. Donât worry, Iâm fine, my family is fine, everythingâs fine.

Without going into details (thatâs what the technote is for), Acornâs file format is a SQLite database, with a simple three-table schema, containing TIFF or PNG bitmaps to represent bitmap layers, and a plist to represent shape layers. Acorn has kept this simple format since version 2.0 back in 2009.
At some point Iâd opened an Acorn file in Base, my database editing app of choice, and realized it was actually a SQLite database. Nifty!
Given Gus is the creator and maintainer of FMDB it kind of makes sense. đ (I use FMDB in Stream.)

I love the Toast app! â¤ď¸ Itâs one of my favorite apps on my phone because itâs darned handy! There are four restaurants we love to eat at but sometimes weâd like to get takeout. Thatâs where Toast comes in. Their idea to build a generic ordering app was super smart. Love it! â¤ď¸

Itâs downright strange how little we know about the hacker or hackers who exposed the identities of over 30 million Ashley Madison users in 2015.
I watched a documentary on Netflix called [Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies, & Scandal(https://time.com/6977627/netflix-ashley-madison-documentary-true-story) a couple nights back and it was absolutely fascinating.
As far as I know the person or persons behind the hack have never been found! That is just amazing to me. Their saving grace is they did it for cultural reasons, not for money. After making their demand for the company to shut down they simply delivered on their threat to release the data theyâd stolen. No money demand.
Itâs worth a watch.đż

Tapestry, a new app designed to organize the open social web, is adding a valuable feature to help people who are keeping up with multiple social networks: It will now remove duplicate posts from your feed. That means if you follow the same person across social networking services like Bluesky and Mastodon, you wonât have to see their post appear twice in your feed if theyâve shared it in multiple places.
I remember Craig Hockenberry being asked if Twitterrific â long live Ollie! â was coming to Mastodon. He said that The Iconfactory was exploring something different. Something more for the open web.
Well, Tapestry is that app and it was brilliantly executed.
Iâm looking forward to what they do with the Mac version. đ

In March, the U.S. government shut down 18F, the digital services team tasked with modernizing government technology and services. 18F was perhaps best known for helping the IRS create a free direct-file tax website that makes it fast and free for Americans to file taxes.

Hi everyone. I know there have been a lot of opinions about the RSS Patreon, and I'm not going to go into that because I think people's opinions are valid on both sides, except for the butt walruses who harassed people.
That being said, I think I have some information that other people might get some value from. Back in the before times I spent 6 years working in recruiting and UX research for a AAA gaming company. My partner has also worked in the game industry as both a programmer and a product manager. I am very familiar with the salaries people get paid around the country for making video games. I also own a small business where I manufacture my own fandom merch. I think these make me qualified to talk about the subject of cost when it comes to this project, at least in a very small sense.
The one criticism I really thought was unfair, was the accusation that RSS was being fiscally irrisponsible because they were starting a Patreon. That isn't a sign of money mismanagement, that is the sign of a company looking for a way to sustainably continue to do their work.
Work is the piece of the equation that I think a lot of people aren't remembering. By which I mean that a lot of people aren't keeping in mind the is cost of labor. NO ONE on the TS team is making a living wage from that Kickstarter money, I promise you.
Now I'm not even talking living wage in a place like San Francisco or Seattle ($41 an hour is a living wage in Seattle, for reference.) I did a little digging in the part of Florida where I used to work for said large company. They severely underpay in that area, and yet the living wage for people in entertainment, not even tech, is about $65k a year, and that's usually just based on fair market value for a studio apartment and no recreation at all.
There are 12 people on the RSS team. If they all made a living wage of $65k a year, that would be $780,000 to have them work full time for one year.
Now keep in mind that is a super low ball estimate of cost. Let's talk about how much you have to pay to hire a programmer in Seattle, which has many large game companies. On the low end salaries probably start around 100k and go up to $250k for a really senior programmer. If you had 4 Sr. programmers on your team you could easily spend a million dollars in salary alone, and that's not even considering things like insurance.
RSS has already been working on the game for over a year, and a significant portion of the cost of the Kickstarter is likely going to merch, not labor. There is no way anyone working on this game is being paid what they deserve, and they're likely working on top of fairly intensive 9 to 5 jobs, or freelance work. They're doing a massive lift on an amazing game and probably making pennies from it. If you backed the Kickstarter you may have read the update about the team creating a tool from scratch to help improve the game. That's a BIG DEAL and I think speaks to the talent and dedication of the team.
Which brings me to my next important note that I share as a business owner, specifically about merch. Imagine how much time and money you think it will take to put out a product. Now multiply it by 3, bare minimum. That's what it's like manufacturing a product. What I make isn't even on the scale of this game's merch, and it's still a battle every time.
So many costs and delays are completely out of your hands. We do our manufacturing in house (literally in my house) and even then we had one of our 3d printers die three days before our first show. Suddenly I'm out $350 for a damn printer that I never expected to buy. And if manufacturing for merch is anything like manufacturing for makeup (another special interest) factories will even bump your order for bigger customers. It's brutal.
Sure, you budget for some wiggle room, but there are simply things you can't predict, like ships getting stuck in the Suez canal, or the a global pandemic. You can't predict them and you can't always easily absorb the cost, even though you did nothing wrong. You find yourself making frustrating decisions where you have to do things like balance quality with speed, and being slowed down like that is bloody soul crushing if I'm being honest.
All that is to say I don't think most people are being malicious when they question the way RSS is using the KS funds (some people definitely are and they can walk on flaming Legos) but I also think they may simply be operating without all the information.
And I want to cut some folks off at the pass - before you start talking about transparency, please remember that backing a Kickstarter isn't an investment, it's a gamble. There is no guarantee you'll get what you pay for, and once they've taken your money the devs could buy $900k of silly string and we'd all be out of luck because that's how gambling works.
I think we're going to get a great game from RSS, but they aren't a publicly traded company, we aren't shareholders (I include myself as a day 1 backer) and we don't have any right to ask them for things like financial information. Also why do we want them trying to justify spending instead of perfecting Leander's massive tiddies and Vere's 200 belts?
Anyway sorry, I know that was incredibly long, but I hope it soothes some fears for people who haven't really been sure what's going on, or are simply curious about video game salaries and manufacturing. Please keep in mind the cost of labor, and how many things can be outside of a company's hands. Please don't assume people are greedy or doing a bad job when we haven't even come close to the launch date of the product. How about we all chill and go play the demo again?
Thank you to everyone who gave us feedback regarding our upcoming Patreon! We sincerely apologize for any confusion the announcement caused. The Patreon will be put on pause for now while we reevaluate some things! In the meantime, we ask that you please refrain from posting hostile or threatening messages or sending them to our team members. We greatly appreciate your kindness.
#touchstarved#touchstarved game#hi RSS folks I hope this post finds you well#I could be wrong about many things but a bitch knows her salary calculations

New Post has been published on https://www.vividracing.com/blog/suspension-upgrades-you-need-for-a-porsche-911-turbo/
Suspension Upgrades YOU Need for a Porsche 911 Turbo
In some past articles and videos we have discussed the best upgrades to get more power out of the Porsche 997 Turbo. Our long history of modifying the Porsche 911 Turbo cars has brought us to our most recent video where we talk about the best suspension upgrades to really get the car to handle. The 997 Turbo like most 911 isnât made for aggressive enthusiast. Its quiet sounding exhaust, tall ride height where you could stick a fist in the wheel wells, and less than stellar handling is designed for the guy who just wants to own a Porsche Turbo. Lets be honest, everything that is done from Porsche is perfect for that guy. But you and I are not him and we want to have GT3 Cup handling and drive the piss out of our cars to the edge.
youtube
Vivid Racing and myself have big proponents of KW Suspensions as our coilover of choice for our Project Cars and customers. Having used them on everything from my personal Porsche 997 Turbo, 997.2 Turbo S, 991 Turbo, and plenty of other cars, their is no substitute. KW Coilovers are highly engineered in Germany to perform the best in the purpose of that vehicle. Proven in events like the 24 hours of Nurburgring, KW does testing on a 7 post shock dyno in its facility to the level of an F1 team. This is not some overpriced Chinese shock with 36 way adjustable dampening and a cute brand name. KW is the real thing. Their coilovers range from the V1 to their latest V5. In my opinion, the V3 is the best dual purpose coilover. With a monotube shock setup, independent rebound and compression, front progressive spring and a rear linear spring with helper spring, the KW V3 gives the best for a daily driver that wants to hit the mountain roads or setup impressive times on the track.
Shop KW Coilovers Here
Coilovers cannot be the only thing to change how your car handles. So we recommend doing a set of sway bars. Sway bars help balance the cars over and under steer. Even though the car has factory sway bars, doing adjustable, larger diameter sway bars help you really stiffen up the handling and get a neutrally balanced car. With the adjustment holes on the bar, you are able to alter how much over steer or under steer the car has. Most sway bars work with the factory sway bar links. Though for those wanting to really dial in the adjustments, getting aftermarket sway bar links is helpful.
Shop Porsche Sway Bars Here
The last essential suspension upgrade to the Porsche 997 Turbo we feel is the rear upper control arms. Companies such as RSS, SPL, and others manufacture these for the 997 Carrera and Turbo cars. These rear arms also know as Dog Bones, help dial in the camber and toe for a proper alignment. These control arms are usually a billet aluminum center with adjustable spherical rod ends on either side. This replaces the static rubber bushing dog bone. The new rear arms give a more rigid response which means better reaction to how the car handles with minor inputs to the steering wheel.
Shop Porsche Control Arms Here
There are more suspension upgrades that can be done to a Porsche 911 Turbo. These 3 items are great starters and will dramatically change how the car handles on the street and track. Giving you a more responsive and enjoyable, handling vehicle is the goal. Each one of these parts is top tier and purpose designed to meet the quality and expectations of Porsche owners. Remember that all of these parts are not any good with a proper vehicle alignment, good tires, and of course your skills as the driver!

New preorder, Madame Web, and interesting times
This is a crosspost of my newsletter! If youâd like to get posts like this direct to your inbox or RSS reader, you can subscribe here.
A few years ago, the company I worked for at the time hired a speaker to come and do a talk about "growth mindset." Attendance was not optional. The speaker listed, among his qualifications, that he was quite good at table tennis. In one part of his presentation, he talked about factory owners during the Industrial Revolution and claimed that their major failing was a lack of "growth mindset" in embracing new technologies. The rampant labor abuse and child exploitation in these same factories was a point left undiscussed.
Growth Mindset Guy is now advocating for war against Iran, claiming that a nation of 90 million people is a "death cult" and that "they want to die."
Also, near as I can tell, he's still doing the corporate talk circuit.
Preorder: "Sebastian Moran Gut-Punches a Pimp"
Kitty Winter is in trouble. She can just about make rent by posting photos to subscription service SecretStar, but now an exploitative agency called Wayward Talent is attempting to seize control of her account. The law can't help ... so it's a good thing Sebastian Moran and Jay Moriarty are the furthest thing from the law. But as Moriarty and Moran set out to dismantle Wayward Talent, an old enemy of Moriarty's resurfaces â one eager to tear apart not only the con, but Moriarty and Moran's lives.
The eighth story in The Casefile of Jay Moriarty, titled "Sebastian Moran Gut-Punches a Pimp," comes out on July 1! You can preorder it (from those vendors that allow preorders) here.
Additionally, Ko-fi supporters who subscribe at the Early Access tier ($5 CAD/month) can download the book for free, right now.
Podcast Appearance: I Will Fight You
The latest episode of I Will Fight You is about the movie Madame Web, which is a frustratingly bad movie, but we do get to talk about it with New Hampshire's favorite son (and Madame Web scholar) Jake Mason.

You can listen to the episode here, or wherever podcasts are found.

40,000 Cameras, From Bird Feeders to Baby Monitors, Exposed to the Internet
The company wrote in a press release that it âdoesnât take elite hacking to access these cameras; in most cases, a regular web browser and a curious mind are all it takes, meaning that 40,000 figure is probably just the tip of the iceberg.â
One of the Dreamliners That Gave a Boeing Manager Nightmares Just Crashed
Years earlier, [former quality manager Cynthia Kitchens] had asked a boss if he would let his children fly on a plane with the litany of flaws and non-conformances he was urging her to âpencil-whipâ: âCindy, none of these planes are staying in America, theyâre all going overseas,â he retorted, much to her horror.

It feels weird to be talking about books and podcasts right now, but if I wait for things to get Not Fucked Up before I publish anything, I suspect I'll be waiting for a very long tme.

Battling the rising tide of fake medicine
Sales of counterfeit drugs are booming around the world, putting thousands of lives at risk. Why is it so hard to stem the tide of fake medicine? To the naked eye, the two pills of the anti-diabetic medicine Janumet look identical. They are both embossed with the number â577â in the same font and size. Only when StĂŠphanie Beer, a forensic scientist at the pharmaceutical group MSD, puts them under a 3D macroscope do the miniscule differences appear. On one pill, the number â577â is etched at a marginally shallower depth than on a genuine tablet produced at an MSD factory. âTo laypeople, counterfeit medicines are often indistinguishable from the originals,â Beer said during a media tour of MSDâs forensics lab in Schachen, southwest of Zurich. âWithout putting the original next to it, itâs hard to see that it is a fake.â Forensics experts in the product integrity team at MSD, known as Merck & Co. in the United States, are trained to look for such details. They have backgrounds in ... https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/multinational-companies/battling-the-rising-tide-of-fake-medicine/82564543?utm_source=multiple&utm_campaign=swi-rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_content=o (Source of the original content)

@bekkaa hey! sorry for tagging, but it might get too long for an answer in the comments.
This video started it all for me. It's a good showcase of what you can do with a jailbreak Kindle, so it's worth a watch to determine if this is something that can be useful for you. It does explain the process, but it's too fast to be considered a tutorial.
The actual guide on how to jailbreak the device is at this website [X] Click on "getting started with jailbreak" and then you'll be prompted to choose your kindle models. If you're unsure about it, you can search by serial number and the website will tell you what model/gen it is and the jailbreak software to use:
From there, just follow the instructions. They're step-by-step and I'm not skilled in this stuff, but they seemed pretty clear to me. After you jailbreak the Kindle, you'll want to install KOReader from here [X]. Latest version just came out, so that's what I have. I saw they updated the jailbreak wiki today and it includes how to install KOReaer so again, just follow the steps on the first website I linked and you'll set everything up in one go.
First try for me it didn't work, but just because I used the wrong gen (i thought I had a 6th but actually my paperwhite is a 5th), otherwise didn't have any problems on my device even if it's 13 years old.
After that it's all what you wanna do with the KOReader. Here's the guide. Like all firmware replacements the UI might look clunky at first, but it has far more options than the original: PDF view on kindle is better, NOW KINDLE READS EPUBS!!!, you can use two column view, rotate the screen, have night mode, it tracks your reading statistics, you can mark books as reading/on hold/finished and give them ratings, annotate with different style and colours if you have colour scren, it has a feature for academic annotation, you can install all dictionaries you want, you can have gestures, install all .ttf fonts you want and read books with dingbats if you so wish, follow RSS feeds, and also you can syncronize the library with Calibre via WiFi. It's all very exciting when you get a hang of it but also at first kind of overwhelming because it's A LOT put behind menus that are completely different from what you're used to. So, just mess around and I'd reccomend this video if you want a visual explanation alongside the guide. There are also other plugins you can mess around with, but I honestly didn't really look into them.
For the custom sleep screen, idk how the newer models handle it but on the 5th and I think also 6th gen you will need the screen saver hack to change them or the kindle will go on showing the default screens.
And if you don't like it, you just do a factory reset on the device and poof! Gone.
Prompted by a friend, I've jailbroken my Kindle today and installed KOReader. Never in my wildest dream I've dreamt of being able to turn the screen on a Kindle. And it now has night mode!
#it's very late so I hope I'm making sense#if not hmu and I'll try to be more clear!#went from 0 to super passionate about this in 3 days#the only plugin i'm trying to use is the one to download and read manga straight from the device#but i can't seem to fin a decent source :( so no mangas#kindle#but you can play Doom if you want#blue speaks#koreader
