Since I don't think I can physically stop thinking about them here's another Haltine situation.
So it's night. They're in bed. Normal times. But Halt has a nightmare. It's not any nightmare caused from trauma or anything like that, but it's just a random nightmare where Pauline dies in it or something. Maybe she dies horrifically, or maybe it's just really slow and painful for her. Maybe in his dream it's a situation where he could have saved her, but wasn't fast enough. Either way she dies, it sucks, and the dream feels super real to the point where he wakes up in the brink of panicking because he thinks she's actually dead.
Then he calms down when he sees she's right next to him and realizes none of it was real. Hes still freaking out and trying to get the idea of it out of his head but he doesn't want to wake Pauline up over something that he thinks is stupid like a nightmare. So instead he just goes real close to her and just hugs her super tightly until he falls asleep again.
Pauline does end up waking up at some point and sees he's just got his arms around her waist and pretty much death gripping her but she doesn't mind at all. She loves it and just hugs him back.
Those two would fucking die holding each other if they could.

There's this bit of alter programming conspiracy mythology lore that goes around in a lot of places, and for awhile now I've wanted to talk about it - where it comes from, and why resonating with it doesn't mean what conspiracists say it means.
Specifically, it's this claim that cultists program young children with "the steps of discipline," which look something like this:
To not need
To not want
To not wish
Survival of the fittest
Code of silence
This bit of lore comes from Svali, first published November 2nd, 2000. For those who haven't heard, Svali is a woman who claims to be a former Illuminati programmer. Her claims are very obviously influenced by the writings of Fritz Springmeier and Cisco Wheeler. (Svali has also influenced professional therapists who purport the reality of alter programming, such as Dr. Alison Miller and Dr. Ellen Lacter, and self-proclaimed Monarch survivor Unwelcome Ozian.)
So getting back to the alleged steps of discipline, I'm going to look at some ways these things can develop in a child without the kind of programming proclaimed in alter programming conspiracy theories.
All it takes to crush a child's ability to acknowledge their needs and to want and wish is a pattern of neglect coupled with adults invalidating, shaming, and perhaps even punishing a child for expressing themself.
(Content warning for specific examples of things adults might say ahead, including food shaming and slut shaming. Read on at your own discretion.)
For example, let's say a small child sees a toy and expresses wanting it. An adult might say in a very harsh tone of voice, "You have enough toys already and that one's so expensive. You should be grateful for what you already have instead of always asking for more." The child learns that wanting things is bad.
A child might tell a parent that they're hungry, and the adult might say "Oh my god, you literally just ate. You're always eating, eating, eating so much." The child not only learns not to ask for food, but also learns that their desire for food is bad.
An adult might see a child looking at a fashion magazine and say, "Wow, look at those girls all tarted up like whores. It's disgusting that they put this kind of filth in magazines. Why are you even looking at this garbage?" The child, who was secretly wishing to look as cool and grown-up as the models in the pictures, learns that their dreams are wrong and shameful.
Simple passive neglect and ignoring also alienates children from their needs and wants, because they eventually learn that asking is futile and wanting only leads to disappointment.
What Svali calls "survival of the fittest" programming appears to describe a state where children take out their frustrations on others. Children who are neglected and invalidated inevitably have all kinds of pent-up feelings, and if they see their parents commit violence, they are very likely to channel their rage in the same way and take it out on other children. It does not require any programming at all.
What Svali calls "the code of silence" reflects how children in dysfunctional homes rarely talk about what happens at home. But this is not at all unusual and it hardly requires the elaborate tortures she describes.
For one thing, children don't usually see adults talking about their dysfunctional behavior with others, and so they often implicitly learn that this just isn't something you bring up to other people.
Adults can also use fear and guilt tactics, telling children something like "If you tell anybody about what happens at home, they won't understand that I do this because I love you, and they'll call the police and I'll get taken away and you'll never see me again."
Adults can also just punish children for talking about stuff at home - not with the ridiculously elaborate ritual punishments Svali describes, but with the usual kinds of punishments abusive and negligent adults come up with.
This is kinda how the whole alter programming conspiracy theory works - it describes real ways people can be impacted by abuse and neglect, but it ascribes unnecessarily elaborate and deliberate forms of abuse and neglect instead of admitting that these things are usually utterly banal in nature, and admitting that seemingly extreme symptoms of trauma do not imply seemingly equally extreme forms of abuse.

lingerie with rafe
You took a breath, steadying your nerves as you walked into the bedroom in your new lingerie—a soft lace that hugged every curve just right. Rafe was sprawled on the bed, eyes on his phone, but the second he saw you, his gaze locked in, and a smirk slowly spread across his face.
“Well, damn…” He sat up, tossing his phone aside without even glancing at it. He didn’t even try to hide the hunger in his eyes as they roamed over you, taking in every inch of lace and skin. “What’s all this?”
You did a slow spin, giving him a better look. “Just thought I’d give you something to remember before you leave.”
Rafe’s gaze turned even darker, and he reached out, catching you by the waist and pulling you close. His hands pressed firmly against your hips, fingers tracing the lace before sliding upward to brush over your chest. “Oh, I’ll remember,” he murmured, lips grazing your collarbone, his thumb running over your nipple through the thin fabric. You let out a soft gasp at his touch, and he chuckled, low and warm. “I’ll have a lot to think about on that boat ride to Morocco. Starting with how good you look in this.”
You tilted your head up to him, feeling the heat rise to your cheeks as he grinned, hands moving back to grip your waist and pull you even closer. “Guess I wanted to give you something to keep in mind while you’re gone,” you murmured, letting your fingers trail down his arm as his grip tightened on your waist.
“More than you already do?” He laughed, but there was an edge to it, something possessive as he leaned in close, capturing your lips in a sloppy, heated kiss. The way he moved his lips against yours, unhurried yet intense, had your heart racing as his hands continued to explore. He kissed down your jaw, nipping at the skin playfully before letting out a low growl. “I don’t think you know what you do to me. And it’s all mine, right?”
His voice was low, rough, and his eyes met yours with an intensity that had you breathless. “Only yours,” you whispered, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. “No one else even comes close.”
He grinned at that, that cocky confidence flaring up as he reached over to grab the Polaroid camera from the nightstand. His smirk grew wider as he turned it on, one hand slipping around your back to unhook your bra. “Want me to remember you? Better let me get a few shots. For safekeeping.”
Your cheeks burned, but you nodded, feeling his hands move carefully to slip the lace down from your shoulders, letting it fall away. He held up the camera, the click and flash filling the room as he captured you with that possessive, admiring look. You couldn’t hold back a soft moan as his hands returned, tracing over your now-bare skin, his fingers grazing your chest and running along your waist.
You pose with a finger tucked in your mouth with a seductive gaze while pushing your tits together. “Look at you,” he murmured, his voice thick with pride and something softer. “Gorgeous. Don’t think I’ll ever forget the way you look tonight.”
He took another photo, watching the image print and come into focus with a grin, before setting the camera down to draw you close, kissing you deeply. His lips were warm, urgent, and when his tongue brushed yours, you couldn’t hold back the soft gasp that slipped from you. His hands pressed along your back, exploring, caressing, as if he couldn’t get enough. He leaned back for a moment, eyes on yours with a mix of mischief and awe.
“Don’t go forgetting who you belong to,” he murmured, brushing a few slow, teasing kisses along your neck, his hands sliding lower to pull your hips against him. “Remember that while I’m gone.”
You let out a quiet moan, fingers tangling in his hair as you whispered, “I won’t forget. But maybe you should take a few more, just to be sure.”
His eyes flashed, and he laughed, reaching for the camera with a smirk. “Smart girl.” He took a few more shots, capturing every detail as he ran his hands along your skin, fingers pressing in, leaving warmth and promises in their wake. “I’ll keep these with me. Look at them every damn day if I have to.”
His fingers ran along your hips, then back up, pausing as he looked at you with something tender in his gaze. He set the camera aside again and cupped your face, pressing his lips to yours in another slow, deep kiss that seemed to seal the moment. You felt his warmth, his grip, and the quiet possessiveness in the way he held you, like he was claiming every inch of you, letting you know just how much you meant to him.
When he finally pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours, his voice barely a whisper. “I’m never letting go, you know that?”
You managed a soft smile, tracing a finger along his jaw. “Good,” you murmured. “I’m counting on it.”

Guys, the gig's up. I am actually Pauline DuLacy. That is why I am so in love with Halt, because I am married to him and he loves me back. I am his wife. This is the 100%, honest truth.

Welcome to the Ranger Gathering, coming August 2025!
Despite how quiet this account has been this year, the Gathering is still being held! We invite you to take a look at the prompts below.
Tumblr media
How it works:
The Ranger Gathering will run for the entire the month of August, 2025. Each day has a prompt that participants can use to inspire works about Ranger's Apprentice, The Early Years, The Royal Ranger, or Brotherband.
Check out last year’s stuff here!
If you want to participate, tag your post with #ranger gathering 2025 so we can all find it!
A few notes on the Gathering:
You do NOT have to do all the prompts, or even most of the prompts to participate in the Gathering! The most important thing is to have fun and avoid burnout. Pick whichever prompts inspire your creativity, and ignore the rest.
The Gathering is meant to show off all forms of creativity! This means art, music, writing, memes, textpost, moodboards, playlists, or whatever else you can come up with. Don't feel like you can't participate if you're not an artist or author.
This blog is going to showcase a few posts from the tag every day of the Gathering, so make sure you support the creators with reblogs and comments.
Good luck, and see you all at the Gathering!
