Pimm's Plums

Simple and bright, these Pimm's Plums end a Summer lunch on a light and fruity note, and they're easy to bring on a picnic, too!

Ingredients (serves 2):

2 ripe Satsuma (red) Plums

1/2 small orange

2 tablespoons Pimm's No. 1

Rinse Satsuma Plums. Halve and pit them, and cut them into slices. Place plum slices into serving bowl.

Squeeze the juice of the orange.

Drizzle orange juice and Pimm's No. 1 over the plums. Toss well, to mix.

Place in the refrigerator, at least one hour.

Serve Pimm's Plums chilled.

@the-marios Okay, I know your kiddo specifically loves the red baby Yoshi that appears in Paper Mario, and the thing I have is of a different fella, but… I still thought he might enjoy this jahdjshsj.

These clips are from a licensed Super Mario World cartoon made for the Terebikko, a Japanese VCR accessory that took the form of a toy phone. You’d hook the toy up to your VCR, and at certain points in compatible videotapes, the characters in the video would “call” you (a special sound signal would make the video’s audio go through the phone rather than your TV speakers), often asking mildly educational quiz questions that you would answer with the phone’s buttons in order to receive feedback based on your answer.

In the Super Mario World video, the bros and Yoshi eventually find a baby red yoshi who insists to go along with them. When they decline, insisting it’s too dangerous, baby red yoshi retaliates, eating several paratroopas, which somehow causes them to spontaneously *grow* up. They stick around for the rest of the adventure, with Mario riding green yoshi and luigi riding red yoshi!

It’s really cute, and I’ve linked the full thing below in case you wanna watch it together - However, it’s only available in Japanese (with fanmade English subtitles). If you decide to (maybe you’d wanna have subtitles for yourself or to read aloud), be aware that the video has some harsh noises at the start and end of each “call” segment, as well as a couple instances of flashing lights. Also, I’d recommend picking the “English (Canada)” subtitles - The standard English subtitles use a more direct translation with unlocalized names and some swearing, and the UK subtitles are there as a joke, and while they’re very funny, they’re definitely not appropriate for kids lol.
