It had been two years since he'd first kissed Eddie, and Richie was still unequivocally in love with him.
He'd deluded himself into believing that his crush on Eddie would fade as time passed, that the memory of those soft lips would stop plaguing his dreams. But it only got worse as they grew, and as Eddie continued to shine brighter than the fucking sun.
So sue him, he was head over heels.
Eddie seemed as oblivious as ever, and Richie had never been more thankful for anything in his life. Richie could get away with pining as openly as he wanted, and Eddie remained none the wiser.
He'd settled into comfort knowing Eddie was blissfully unaware of the way Richie felt about him. In fact, he preferred it that way. If Eddie found out, they'd have to have a conversation that would undoubtedly lead to Richie dying right there on the spot. So, Richie would much rather just pine from afar and avoid that whole situation.
Eddie's obliviousness is exactly why Richie felt so secure in asking Eddie to the movies that weekend. It had been a while since they'd done something just the two of them, and even though the one on one hangouts caused butterflies to scatter about Richie's stomach, he still longed for the moments he got to savor between just the two of then
Richie sometimes let himself indulge in the delusion that they were doing these things together as a couple, that when they sat together in the dark theater, Richie could reach over and intertwine their fingers. That he could feed him popcorn and then kiss those buttery lips when no one was looking. It was embarrassing really, that Richie would spend their time together pretending it was a date while Eddie simply enjoyed his time with a friend, but Richie allowed himself these small vices.
That vice, however, was a lot harder to reign in when Eddie showed up looking far more put together than what was strictly necessary for the movies. He was wearing a brand-new button down that Richie didn't recognize, and his hair seemed freshly cut. Richie just about lost his ability to function, fighting against everything just to keep from reaching out and grabbing Eddie by the waist, allowing the line between reality and his fantasy to merge.
"Hey Rich!" Eddie greeted him with that sunny smile that made Richie's world spin on its axis. Richie thanked the gods that he was leaning against a wall for support he hadn't realized would come in handy.
"Wow Eds, looking mighty fancy for a showing of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Richie commented, hoping he'd been able to school his tone enough not to reveal his current state.
Eddie shrugged, looking down at himself as if to assess Richie's claim.
"I know you're used to wearing the same three shirts on repeat, but normal people actually buy new clothes every once in a while." Eddie teased.
"Touché."
"Got the tickets?" Eddie asked.
Richie's legs stopped threatening to give out beneath him for long enough to push himself off the wall and begin making his way towards the theater entrance. He held up two tickets over his shoulder in response.
"Don't say I never treat ya, kid."
Really, Richie owed Eddie money from the last time they'd gone out, so it wasn't like he was paying for Eddie exactly. If he'd given the money straight to Eddie, it would have gone towards the ticket anyway, but this way Richie got to continue the charade in his head of being the doting date to one Eddie Kaspbrak.
They stopped for popcorn on the way to their theater room. Richie got M&Ms for Eddie because be knew he liked to dump them into the popcorn, and Eddie got an extra water because be knew Richie always got thirsty halfway through the popcorn bag. With their arms full and goofy smiles carrying them down the hall, they made their way to their seats.
Richie had almost digested all the butterflies that had made their home in his stomach. There were still a few that would flutter when Eddie looked at him a certain way, or when their fingers would brush as they passed the popcorn back and forth, but Richie was feeling much more capable of taming his betraying body than he was ten minutes ago.
The previews came and went, lighting up the theater with promises of future movies that Eddie and Richie would dedicate themselves to seeing. Every time Eddie would lean over and whisper a little ‘we need to see that’, Richie’s heart would flutter at the thought of being able to do this all over again.
When the movie finally started, they sank down into their seats and turned their full attention to the screen. It was a welcome distraction for Richie, and he let himself be fully pulled into the show unfolding before them.
 It was about 45 minutes into the movie when things changed. Their popcorn had long been finished, the bag sitting empty at their feet, and Richie was on his second water bottle (thank you Eddie). A fight was unfolding on screen, a battle between the ninja turtles and a new villain Richie didn’t recognize from the comics. He was so invested in the story that he almost didn’t realize when Eddie snaked his hand into Richie’s, which laid across their shared armrest with accidental invitation.
Richie jolted in his seat, having to physically hold back from letting out a noise that would probably get them kicked out. His head spun to regard Eddie whose head was still engrossed with whatever was happening in front of them.
Richie’s body felt like it was shutting down, stopping all executive functions in favor of rerouting his energy to the part of his brain that was trying to figure out what the fuck was happening.
The most logical reason Richie was able to come up with was that Eddie was a little shit.
Eddie always berated Richie for taking up the entire arm rest to himself every time they went to the movies, so this was probably his way of teaching Richie a lesson. He could almost hear Eddie’s voice saying ‘Well, I wouldn’t have to do this if somebody had learned the concept of sharing in kindergarten’.
Richie decided then that if Eddie was going to be petty, then so was he. He would hold Eddie’s hand until it got sweaty and unbearable.
 It never got sweaty and unbearable. In fact, the longer they held hands, the more Richie sank into the comfort it offered him. By the time the credits were rolling, it felt like second nature. Of course they were holding hands, this was Eddie and Richie loved him and therefore he held his hand.
That’s when the realization hit Richie like a freight train. He’d allowed himself to be consumed by his daydream, convinced himself that they were on a date and Eddie loved him back and unicorns existed.
Richie suddenly felt sick to his stomach.
“I gotta go take a piss.” Richie muttered, shooting up from his seat and speed walking out the door.
His hand tingled, still warm from the heat of Eddie’s. Richie shook it violently as if he could wick off his feelings like water.
 Richie took twice as long as he needed to in the washroom, dreading what was to come when he left the safety of his stall. He practiced what he was going to say to Eddie enough times that he was sure the entire male population at the theater had heard him, but he still found himself speechless when he walked out of the bathroom to see Eddie waiting for him.
“Hey.” Eddie smiled encouragingly.
“Hey.” Richie answered, mouth flapping open and shut like a fish out of water.
“So, if you want, uh, we can just forget that ever happened.” Eddie blurted suddenly.
“Do… you want to pretend it never happened?” Richie asked cautiously, trying to read Eddie’s expression.
Eddie took a moment before shaking his head. It was such a small movement Richie might have missed it if he hadn’t been observing Eddie so closely.
“It’s fine, Eds.” Richie continued nervously. “I’m no stranger to taking the joke too far. And now I’ve learned my lesson, I promise to never hog the arm rest ever again.”
Eddie’s face contorted in confusion, causing Richie’s to mimic the same.
“Wait, what are you talking about?”
Richie stared at Eddie calculatingly.
“…What are you talking about?”
“Richie.” Eddie sighed, but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes. “What is going on in your head right now.”
“Uhhhhh, you held my hand because you wanted the arm rest.” Richie babbled dumbly.
Eddie continued to stare at him, that same amusement now accompanied by a smug little smile.
“And does that make sense?” Eddie’s tone was teasing.
“What other explanation is there?”
“That maybe…” Eddie’s hand reached forward, brushing against Richie’s delicately. “I just wanted to hold your hand.”
“That’s even less logical than my reasoning.” Richie countered with an exhausted huff.
“Why?”
Eddie’s face was completely open, but there was something vulnerable there too. Something Richie hadn’t seen in a long time, not since-
“Eds… are you… gay?” Richie made sure to ask in a hush, leaning closer to Eddie so those around them couldn’t overhear.
Eddie leaned in as well, closing the space between them until there was only a breath between their lips. Flashes of the first time they kissed clouded Richie’s thoughts. Eddie had grown so much since then, filled out into a body that harnessed all his allure in the perfect package. Richie wanted to know what it would be like to kiss him now.
“Are you?” Eddie whispered.
Richie gulped, nodding even though he had a feeling Eddie already knew the answer. In fact, it was seeming more and more likely that Eddie was privy to much more than Richie’d thought he was, and that realization was terrifying.
“Good, I’m glad we have that settled.” Eddie stated in an almost business-like fashion. Richie almost cracked a smile. "Hopefully our second date goes better than this one has."
Richie’s entire face went blank.
"THIS WAS A DATE?!" Richie shouted, earning a shush from Eddie through unrestrained giggles.
"Come on, Rich, I'm not completely oblivious. I knew you were asking me on a non-official-date date. I've known you for years, I know your tells."
"What tells? I have tells!?"
Before Richie could get an answer, Eddie was joining their hands once again, this time dragging Richie behind him towards the theater exit.
"What tells, Eddie?!"
Eddie simply looked over his shoulder, all innocent eyes and bashful smile. He seemed determined to keep his secrets for now, and to Richie's surprise, he didn't care all that much.
Because Richie was holding Eddie's hand, and it was infinitely better than that silly kiss had been all those years ago. This signified something, it was the start of Richie’s fantasies bleeding into reality, tangible in the way Eddie’s hand slotted perfectly into his.

Reddie Week Day 2- First date
Here’s my work for day 2, please enjoy
@dibujos-de-la-orilla   Ao3
Richie had no fucking clue how he ended up in this scenario. Eddie had mentioned how the only time he ever ate out was at one of the losers houses. So like an idiot Richie had offered to take him out to get dinner at the local diner, on a fucking Friday night like he was some sort of football jock with a cheerleader girlfriend, but for some reason God had smiled upon him and Eddie had agreed. After that he had walked him home and his last words before Eddie walked into his house may or may not have been ‘looking forward to our date’. When he had shut the door Richie laughed to himself at the joke, it was a joke right?
Now standing outside Eddie's front door he wasn’t so sure that was the case. After a full day of playing off the joke while at school, Richie had driven his beaten truck over to Eddie’s house to pick him up at 5:55 exactly, five minutes early. When the door had opened Eddie stood there smiling for a moment looking like a dream. His hair was neat and tidy like always, but he wore a baby blue button down and wrinkle-free jeans. He was gorgeous. Richie on the other hand was wearing a faded band t he had chucked on over a pair of ripped jeans, not to mention his curls were all over the place.
“You’re actually early for once, ready to go?” Eddie asked as he stepped out onto the porch, shutting the door behind him.
Richie quickly shut his dropped jaw and gulped. “Yea Eds, got the truck all nice and warmed up for ya.” Richie turned and began making his way to the truck, not able to look at Eddie for another second for fear he might die on the spot. He quickly got into the truck and slammed his door shut, trying to use the few seconds before Eddie got in to breathe and sort out his thoughts.
Even after Eddie got in the vehicle remained silent all the way to the diner, Richie couldn’t tell whether the silence was awkward or comfortable, but either way it stayed until he parked the truck and went around to open the door for Eddie.
“After you my liege,” Richie said, bowing down and moving out of the way to let him get out.
“Why thank you my good sir, shall thou escort me into this… fine establishment?” Eddie joked before holding out his elbow for Richie to take, and he would take what he could get.
The diner itself wasn’t anything impressive. It was one of those tacky 50’s and 60’s style diners with linoleum checkered floors, big booths, those spinning stools lining the bar, and a jukebox in the corner. But nonetheless being in there with Eddie felt special as he led him elbow in elbow to a large booth in the back corner, away from the other customers scattered throughout the rest of the diner. When they sat down opposite from one another Richie couldn’t help but think how close this was to a real date.
Richie reached to the end of the table and grabbed two menus from the stack, handing one to Eddie before he popped his open. “Get whatever you’d like Eds, this ones on me,” he said as casually as possible.
“Thanks Rich,” he responded before turning his face down to scour the menu. After a few minutes a waitress walked over, a little pad of paper in one hand and a pen in the other.
“Hi, can I get you two anything to drink tonight?” she asked in a painfully obvious customer service voice, Richie almost had to stop himself from wincing.
“Milady, i’ll have one of your finest root beers, Eds?” he responded before turning to Eddie.
“Ummm I think i’ll just have water, thanks.”
“One rootbeer, and one water coming right up,” she repeated back before walking towards the kitchen.
Richie stared at Eddie until he looked up from the menu. “What?” he asked.
“Water Eds, really? I’m paying so you could get anything you wanted, and you picked plain ol’ water?” Richie teased.
“Soda has a lot of sugar, and cavities are no joke dipshit. Your dad’s a fucking dentist for crying out loud, you’d think he’s forbid you from soda and all the candy you stuff down your face hole,” he ranted. All Richie could do was smile and rest his face in his hand as Eddie went off. Would a real date be like this?
“Well Eds, you see, some people like to live a little and actually have a drink that tastes good,” he responded, a dopey grin still plastered on his face.
“Water tastes good!” People started to glance over at them.
“What the fuck? Water doesn’t have a fucking taste!”
“Yes it fucking does!” he responded.
“Oh yea, then what does it taste like?” Check fucking mate.
Eddie stopped his rant and looked at Richie, clearly trying to think of what to say next. “I don’t fucking know, water tastes like fucking water!”
“That’s because water doesn’t taste like anything, it’s like if your mom’s bland kinks were a drink,” he said with a smirk.
“Beep fucking beep dickhead, god i’m never going to be able to drink water again with out thinking of that, what the hell!” he practically yelled.
Of course this is when the waitress decided to come back with their drinks. “I’m going to need you two to keep it down a little bit, there’s a family here with the little kids, and if you can’t keep it quiet i’ll have to ask you to leave,” she said as she set down their drinks.
“Sorry,” Eddie said in a quiet voice as he tried to sink back into the seat, a blush rising on his face.
“It’s alright. Have you two decided on what you’re getting?” she asked, pad ready.
“Yeah, can I just get a plain cheeseburger with a side of fries? Please,” he asked. The waitress nodded a quick response before turning to face Richie.
“I’ll have your bacon burger with everything on it, and a side of fries.” She quickly scribbled down his order and left once again towards the kitchen.
This time it was Eddie's turn to stare at Richie. “Yes?” Richie asked.
“When you die of a heart attack from cholesterol build up I won’t mourn you,” he deadpanned
“Ouch Eds, tell me how you really feel, and besides the burgers here are best with everything on it.”
“Keep telling yourself that.”
As the two boys passed the time they spent waiting for their food by teasing one another, heavily. When the food did arrive Richie waited for Eddie to take the first bite.
“Okay, I will admit this is pretty good,” he said after he finished his mouthful.
“Knew you would.” Richie smiled as he ate.
They spent the rest of their meal in a comfortable silence, listening to the music flowing from the jukebox near the front, and Richie couldn’t help but observe how nicely Eddie was dressed, and how he seemed just a little bit on edge, like he was nervous. Richie thought of how happy he was when Richie had shown up to his house early, and the way they had sat in silence the whole way there. Looking forward to our date. Was this a date?
“You good Rich?” Eddie asked snapping Richie out of his thoughts.
“Yea, it’s just-” he looked around before turning back to Eddie and lowering his voice. “-is this a date?” he asked, slapping himself mentally for even entertaining the possibility of Eddie agreeing to a date with him.
Eddie swallowed the fry he was chewing and responded in an equally quiet voice. “Do you want it to be?”
Richie didn’t know how to respond. All he could do was search Eddie's face. He looked more nervous now, but also a little bit hopeful. Richie looked down at his hand before answering. “Yes…” he was impossibly quiet.
“Then it is one,” Eddie said back. This caused Richie's head to snap up and look at Eddie, whose head was cast towards the plate in front of him, a blush rising on his face.
“Okay,” was all Richie could say.
Eddie looked backed up meeting his eyes and smiled, warm and full. “Okay.”

“Painful memory”
Decided to join the #reddieweek2020 with this fic ! The theme I chose from today (well technically it’s past midnight but idc) is “tokens”. I hope you’ll enjoy your reading as much as I enjoyed writing this piece ! 💖
Happy Reddie week !
~~~~
Eddie was laying on the uncomfortable bed of the Inn. He’d taken two pain killers already, but the side of his face still hurt. He touched the blood soaked bandage on his cheek. Fuck... He felt his heartbeat pick up. He’d been in Derry for less than a week, but it was stressing him out so much. All those memories, coming back to him bits by bits, were hitting him more than he cared to admit.
A soft knock got him out of his thoughts. Richie entered the room, an awkward expression on his face. “Hey Eds, you okay ?”
“I- No, not really. I got stabbed in the fucking face, Rich.”
“Yeah... Yeah, you did.”
“Being here, it’s just... it’s too much, I think.”
Richie nodded silently. Eddie was waiting for some dumb jokes, some mockery... But no, his friend stayed as serious as he was. Eventually, Richie came closer and sat on the edge of the bed. Eddie scooched over. He watched Richie fidget for a few seconds, his fingers playing with the hem of his shirt. He seemed absent and Eddie realized his eyes were a bit red.
“I found my artefact,” Richie admitted, taking the token from the arcade out of his pocket. It made Eddie smile. He remembered all the time he’d listened to Richie talk about how he’d spent all day playing in the arcade. Eddie hadn’t gone there often ; his mom said that the arcade was unsanitary because they never cleaned the machines... But he remembered that one time Richie convinced him to go anyway. He had loved watching his friend so focused, laughed when he lost and tried to find excuses. The memory almost made him forget the pain in his face.
“The arcade, of course !”
Richie nodded and sniffed. Was he about to cry ? Eddie agreed that they were all on edge, but it seemed weird to see Richie so down.
“Remember when I stopped going there ?” His voice was deep, serious. Eddie nodded ; he didn’t remember the exact moment, but now that he thought about it, he realized that the change was more abrupt than he had remembered. “I was playing with Bowers’ cousin, hm, what was his name ? Connor ? I think it was Connor, yeah.” Eddie winced when he heard the name Bowers, like the wound on his face recognized its owner. “Bowers called me a fag,” Richie blurted out, his eyes even redder than they were when he entered the room.
“What a fucking prick.”
“I tried to go back after that, but all the kids would look at me when I entered the room. They’d whispered shit about me... And I didn’t want to play alone.”
Eddie felt a knot in his stomach. He felt guilty. “You should’ve told us. I would’ve- We would’ve come with you,” he argued.
“I know, I know.” Richie grabbed Eddie’s arm, gave it a squeeze. “I know you would’ve. I was just too ashamed.”
They both stayed silent for a few minutes and Eddie ended up moving his arm, taking Richie’s hand in his. He thought that, maybe, it would give him the strength to continue...
“I’m tired of being ashamed,” he added in a voice so soft it was almost a whisper. He did look tired, Eddie thought.
Hesitantly, he answered “You don’t have to be, Rich.” Because he knew what shame felt like, and he hated to think about Richie feeling this way.
Richie nodded for a few seconds, his eyes shining with what almost looked like a new found confidence. He muttered a few words of encouragement to himself and Eddie was about to make a snarky comment about it when he turned to face him, looking him directly in the eyes. Suddenly, Eddie lost all his wit and just stared back, blushing a little.
“Maybe you’re right, Eds. I don’t want to lie anymore.” Richie exhaled loudly and Eddie noticed he smelled of alcohol. Before he could say anything about it, Richie leaned over and kissed him. His hand was still holding Eddie’s, shaking a little. Eddie was too shocked to do anything, to even kiss him back. He just stood there, completely still, trying to understand what was happening. He’d been in love with Richie for over 20 years and had waited for this moment for so long... And here it was. And here he was, unable to do anythjng about it.
After a few seconds, Richie broke the kiss. His cheeks were red and Eddie realized he’d almost never seen him blush before. He wanted to pinch his cheeks so bad, he understood why Richie had done that to him so many times in their childhood.
“I’m sorry, I- I shouldn’t have,” Richie blurted out when he realized Eddie wasn’t saying anything. “I’ll just go now.”
And he was already out the door when Eddie snapped back to the present. Fuck. Well that hadn’t gone well at all ! He jumped out of his bed and desperately ran after Richie. When he saw him going down the stairs, he almost yelled, “Rich, I- Wait, come back !” but that didn’t even made him look back.
When he finally caught up with him, they were outside the Inn. The sun was setting behind them and the streetlights were already on. Eddie grabbed Richie’s hand, forced him to turn around. Richie’s face contorted in a mix of pain and anger, which made Eddie’s stomach drop.
“Rich, I was just surprised, I-“
“No, it’s alright,” Richie interrupted him. “I’m drunk, dude, I was just messing with you.” A dry and nervous chuckle escaped his lips.
Eddie knew Richie. He’d known him for so long. And his lies had become pretty obvious to him. Eddie tighten his grip on Richie’s hand, forced him to look him in the eyes.
“Rich, please don’t-“
Richie interrupted him again, “Don’t what ? Hm ? It’s okay, Eds, I got it. You’re not interested. We don’t need to beat around the bush forever. I’m not hurt, alright ? I just thought- I mean, I was drunk and I thought that-“
Eddie’s mind was going into overdrive. Richie’s eyes were getting watery and Eddie didn’t know if he was lying or not anymore. He was so confused and annoyed. He wished this could’ve been simpler, he wished he would’ve kissed him back immediately. And, even more than that, he wished he would’ve confessed his feelings when they were still innocent kids and the whole situation was easier...
In all this chaos, Eddie took a decision. He needed Richie to shut up and he needed to know the truth. Hitting two birds with one stone, Eddie grabbed Richie’s shirt and pulled him into a kiss. Unlike he had, minutes earlier, Richie did kiss him back. He kissed him like their life depended on it. His hands instinctively found their place on Eddie’s hips and he pulled him even closer, deepening the kiss. It was hesitant, messy... But, oh god, it was perfect. Eddie’s hands explored Richie’s body, his chest, his shoulders, his hair. Being this close to him, finally, was a beautiful feeling. He wanted to live in that feeling, never let it go. How could he have gone so many years without this ? He had no fucking idea. Richie‘s hands made their way up Eddie’s body as well until they were cradling his face. Eddie winced.
“My cheek, you dumbass.”
“Shut up, Eds.”
And Richie pulled Eddie in for another kiss. It was softer this time, it was sweet. Richie kept his hands on Eddie’s face, but made sure they weren’t touching his bandage. It was all so gentle all of a sudden... They simultaneously broke the kiss, but their foreheads stayed pressed against one another.
The noise of a squeaky window both made them look around.
“Final-fucking-ly !” Bev shouted from her room. She gave them a thumbs up, a few claps, and closed her window.
Both men blushed like they had never before, but they didn’t break away from one another. Eddie’s hands were still holding Richie as close as he could, and Richie’s were gently resting on the other man’s shoulders. And it felt good. It felt good to be seen and accepted.
“Eds... Should we, um- Should we maybe take this inside ?” Richie suggested.
“I think we should, yeah.”
With a nod, Richie grabbed Eddie’s hand in his own and started leading him back inside the Inn. While they were walking in, he asked, “Why didn’t you kissed me back ?”
Eddie sighed, but a little smirk made his dimples appear, “For god’s sake Rich, it’s not everyday the man you’ve been in love with for 30 years kisses you out of the blue. I got nervous I just-“ He stopped. Had he just confessed his love in such a nonchalant way ? He felt the blood drain from his face as he sheepishly turned to look at Richie. The same look of sheer surprise was on his face as well. Eddie couldn’t tell if it was a good surprise or not... He waited. Time seemed to have stopped ; how long had they been staying there, silent ?
But, finally, Richie’s mouth closed and he swallowed, hard. Something shined in his eyes, something that seemed vaguely familiar to Eddie, yet stronger than it had ever been. “I’ve never been this turned on by emotional intimacy,” Richie admitted in a low whisper. He swallowed again and it sent shivers down Eddie’s spine. The looks Richie had given him were filled with pure lust. “I love you too you fucking moron.” Both their heart seemed to skip a beat at the same time. “Now let’s get you onto my bed in the next minute or I swear I’ll just start ripping your clothes off in the middle of this lobby.”
If the idea didn’t seemed that bad to Eddie, he still followed Richie’s advice (order?) and ran up the stairs. They stopped every three or four steps, unable to keep away from one another, messy kisses and hungry touches. Eddie felt euphoric. More importantly, he felt loved. And that’s something he hadn’t really felt, or at least not that strongly, for a long time. The cut on his face was a distant memory, the pain not even registering when Richie cradled his face once more. He almost welcomed the pain, because it meant that the love of his life was touching him.
When they finally reached the first floor, Richie shoved Eddie against the first door they encountered. Unfortunately, it opened on impact and they both went down.
“What the-“ Bill jumped out of his bed. He watched silently while his two friends awkwardly stood up. A giggle escaped his lips when he saw them blush. “Are you guys okay ?”
“Yeah, fine, I- We just... Yeah, we’re fine,” Eddie answered for the both of them, rubbing his neck and looking away.
None of them moved for a few seconds and, when Bill was about to ask if they needed anything, Richie blurted out “Okay, we should probably go now. Enough awkward silences for today.” Eddie nodded and Bill smiled at them. He looked happy, satisfied, and Eddie couldn’t help but wonder if it was about them. Bev sure had looked pleased when she saw them kissing... Were all the losers in on this ? He definitely hadn’t looked that surprised. Well, of course he’d been surprised by them bursting through his door, but not by them being together... Eddie tried to stop his mind for a little bit, followed Richie out of the room with a smirk on his face.
When Bill closed the door behind them, Richie started chucking. Eddie looked at him, amused as well, and, when the chuckles turned into laughter, Eddie couldn’t help but to join. After just a moment, they were both holding their stomach with tears in their eyes. When they calmed down, Richie grabbed Eddie’s hand. When he looked at him, he was smiling and something soft glowed in his eyes. It made his heart beat a little faster.
“Y’know what Eds ?” Richie started while pulling Eddie closer to him. “How about we do this right ? Let’s go get a drink.”
Eddie clapped his free hand against his chest and faked a gasp. “What a gentleman you are.”
“Hell yeah. It’s not everyday I can get such a handsome man to go out with me,” Richie smirked back. His hand dropped Eddie’s so he could wrap it around his back, pulling him even closer and kissing him gently. Eddie could feel him smile underneath his lips ; it was heavenly.
“Alright then, Trashmouth. Where are you taking me ?”
Richie looked around and, with a little chuckle, answered, “Well there’s a bar right there in the lobby. Seems convenient. Or do you want me to take you to some fancy place, Eds ?”
Eddie looked into Richie’s eyes. They were sparkling with something new, something hopeful and soft. He kissed him again and nodded, walking towards the bar and sitting on one of the stools. Richie ran behind the counter and tried to juggle the bottles he found under it... Of course one broke in just a few seconds. Eddie winced at the sound but quickly laughed it off, let Richie pour him some gin and tonic. Richie searched his pocket for a tissue to wipe the bar, but all he found was the arcade token. He took it out and stared at it for a second, then at Eddie, and back at the little coin that had been attached to such a painful memory... But now, the token made him smile. Maybe it wasn’t all bad after all.
Reddie Week Day 4: Wedding
Support me on my Ko-Fi!
“Why? Why don’t you?” Richie asked his boyfriend following him all over the house. Eddie was mad he always found things to do in his pathway, like put the laundry away, fix a crooked picture, and now he was back to scrubbing the dishes for the third time in a row that day.
Groaning, Eddie answered, “Because I said so!”
“That’s a stupid answer!”
“Then what the fuck do you want me to say?” Eddie turned, hollering in Richie’s face, splashing him with sudsy water from the sink.
“Just because you’re going through a divorce doesn’t mean that you can’t get married again!”
Eddie muttered something under his breath before resuming what he was doing. It was hard to tell if that was dirt or a crack forming on the plate. “Rich, just stop!”
“Why can’t we talk about this?” Richie asked him. “Eddie, I’m crazy about you! I love you!”
Letting the plate sink under the suds, Eddie sighed. Some days this all didn’t feel real. Being in love with Richie was very different from the life he had with Myra. They didn’t have anything in common, nor did they ever want to spend any time together. With Richie, they were always together. It wasn’t a problem. He liked it.
“You really want to be with me if we were to get married?” Eddie asked him, staring into his boyfriend’s eyes.
“Of course! I mean, we don’t have to get married now, it’s still too soon, but yes, I want to marry you.”
Eddie frowned, wanting to believe him, but he was afraid. He was still afraid to love. “How do you know that we won’t get a divorce?”
Raising his eyebrows, Richie didn’t frown. “Look at it this way, Eds, we’re living together, aren’t we?”
“Yeah.”
“And you never lived with Myra before marrying her, did you?”
Wishing that Richie didn’t bring that up, Eddie went back to scrubbing the plates, very hard. “What are you trying to say, Richie?”
Richie touched his shoulder, getting his attention. Gently, he made Eddie let go of the plate that he was washing and cleaned off Eddie’s hands with a clean rag.
“In a way, we are married. We live together, I get on your nerves, you sure as hell get on my nerves,” Richie joked using the towel to scrub his nose.
“You get on my nerves more!” Eddie thwacked his arm away from him.
“Uh, do you have any idea how much you nag me?”
“Do you listen to yourself singing in the shower? Are you trying to start a band in there?”
“What’s wrong with my singing? You’re the one who rants about every little thing on your mind.”
“You are so annoying!” Eddie ran his hands down his face.
“And yet you can live with me,” Richie pointed out. That got Eddie’s attention. “If you really hate me, say that I’m annoying, or joke that you are going to leave me, you haven’t. And I haven’t either.”
Quiet, Eddie was reluctant to admit that Richie was right. Even though Myra put up with him, she was not quiet about how she felt about him. Richie helped him with his dilemmas and even made things better.
Richie’s hands brushed down his arms, lovingly, making Eddie feel calm. Physical affection never existed between him and Myra. He craved Richie’s touch. Every night they snuggled up together in bed. Richie made him feel safe.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to get married,” Richie told him, his voice soft. “We can see where this goes. But I am never going to stop loving you. I want you to be happy.”
Nodding, Eddie hugged him, apologizing for the way he snapped at him. Richie didn’t deserve that. Melting into their warm embrace, Eddie could only imagine what their wedding would be like. And he also thought about how to get Richie to marry him.
Reddie Week Day 6: Family
(So I’m a sucker for Eddie having a surrogate-type family in the Toziers, since his own mom is such a garbage person.  : )  So, they’re having a wholesome family game night!
....Also now my secret is out that I headcanon Alan Alda as Wentworth Tozier.... lol)
A year ago, we found out that Richie carved the initials of his name and the name of his crush. A Reddie scene like this in the movie would have been great. This video is not mine,  is from the Héroes of Ragnarok channel. But I share it because this week, it was Reddie week 2020 <3
I hope upload my draws and fics soon
