Sitting on the dock.

Originally completed on 24th December 2022.

My interpretation: This piece is loosely inspired by the song sitting on the dock of the bay by Ottis Redding and the book voices by Ursula K LeGuin.

A young man sits on the end of a dock and catches fish for his breakfast while the village across the water starts to prepare for the day of work ahead of it. A fishing boat picks up sail and heads out of the shallow swamps to more open waters where the fishing is better.

I personally am not a super clingy person

BUT

With that certain someone, there is no better feeling than laying up with “your person” and being loved on, feeling loved. It is so peaceful and you can relax.

I definitely can remember being laid up like this with “my person” when we lived in BG! Nothing else mattered. I felt so calm and at peace. The world sat still for a lil bit when I was with him. I felt almost invincible with him around. I truly believed that he wouldn’t let anything happen to me.

I was GONE off ol boy lol. Everyone knew I didn’t play about him and he didn’t play about me.

IF you have someone that makes you feel that way, embrace it as much as possible. I believe that everyone should be able to say that they have had the opportunity to have “their person” in their life and to be able to feel so much love, comfort and joy.

This is that love that makes you know what people are talking about when they say things like “when home is not simply a place, but home is a person”
