County Kerry Landscape - Tírdhreach Chontae Chiarraí, 2013.
A "soft" Irish day, cloudy followed by light rain followed by brief sun breaks. Perfect for a drive around the ring of Kerry!

Killarney National Park
Tumblr media
The Torc Waterfall in Ireland's Killarney National Park is quite possibly my favorite waterfall I have ever photographed.
This composition isn't the best of those I have shot of this falls; it lacks a little depth since I didn't compose it with any real foreground elements to speak of. Despite this, the natural beauty of the falls and it's environment still shines and the light was lovely.
If you get a chance to visit Ireland, I highly recommend it.

Ireland: Exploring the Scenic Ring of Kerry
After completing an unforgettable trip through the UK, we touched down in the emerald landscapes of Ireland. Day 8 of our journey was dedicated to exploring one of Ireland's most iconic and breathtaking routes: the Ring of Kerry, located in County Kerry in South-Western Ireland.
We had our coach tour pre-booked for 8:30 AM, so we started the day early with a quick breakfast and headed to the pickup point, which was conveniently just a 10-minute drive from our charming stay at the Killarney Farmhouse. The excitement of the day ahead buzzed in the air as we boarded the coach and began the 180-kilometer journey around the Ring.
From the very start, the tour delivered a visual feast: sweeping ocean views, serene lakes, winding rivers, majestic mountains, historic churches, verdant meadows, and dramatic cliffs. Our first stop was the quaint Kerry Bog Village. Stepping into this site felt like traveling back in time to witness traditional Irish village life. A highlight of the stop was sipping on a warm Irish Coffee at The Red Fox Inn, where we also got to sample the famous Irish whiskey. The area’s charm was amplified by a local vendor selling naturally sourced honey and souvenirs by the roadside.
As we continued our journey, the coach traced the winding path alongside the Cara River through the mountains. The next stop was the spectacular Sleigh Head, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and rugged cliffs—a perfect spot for photos and soaking in the beauty of nature.
We made a serene stop at the roadside Daniel O’Connell Church. From here, we admired the panoramic views of farmlands, lush green hills, and the brilliant blue ocean. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect—a bright sunny day with a refreshing cool breeze.
By lunchtime, we arrived at the sea-facing O'Carroll's Cove. Surrounded by stunning ocean vistas, we enjoyed a delightful local meal that was both generous in portion and rich in flavor. Post-lunch, we took some time for photo ops by the sea before continuing our journey.
A short ride later, we reached Derrynane Beach, a picturesque location where mini rocky islands dotted the horizon. With its clear blue waters and scenic beauty, it was a favorite among visitors who were sunbathing and soaking up the summer vibes.
To cool off, we stopped for delicious soft-serve ice cream made from local milk—a simple treat that tasted heavenly in the Irish sunshine.
Our final major stop was the iconic Ladies View Point. This spot offered an awe-inspiring combination of lake and mountain views. It gets its name from Queen Victoria's ladies-in-waiting, who were so taken with the view during their 18th-century visit that the place was named in their honor. Naturally, we clicked plenty of pictures here, capturing the majestic backdrop.
As the sun began to dip, our tour of the Ring of Kerry came to a close. The coach dropped us back at our pickup point, and we returned to the Killarney Farmhouse filled with beautiful memories and looking forward to Day 9—our exploration of Howth, the stunning coastal suburb known for its cliffs and ocean trails on the Howth Peninsula.
