*ೃ༄ andrey rublev on jannik sinner .
Tumblr media
how did you react when you learned at the end of august that jannik sinner had tested positive for clostebol?
"you can't wish any player to go through this. i can't imagine the stress or anxiety he felt during this entire period. he managed very well, he continued to play at his best level and managed to dominate the circuit despite everything by winning titles. it's very impressive."
anti-doping authorities have been criticized for being slow to reveal this positive test dating from march and for the lightness of the sanctions imposed. do you share these views?
"i think the anti-doping system should be a little more understandable. in tennis, the rules are super strict, more so than in other sports. i feel like every little mistake, even when it's unintentional, can threaten your career."

Alcaraz Overcomes Illness to Beat Rublev, Zverev Dominates Ruud at ATP Finals
Carlos Alcaraz battled through illness to secure a 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) victory over Andrey Rublev at the ATP Finals in Turin on Wednesday. The 21-year-old Spaniard, who had been struggling with a chest complaint and cut short his practice session the day before, showed resilience in his second match of the tournament.
Despite the health setback, Alcaraz played with composure and precision, especially from the baseline, as he dispatched Rublev in straight sets. Alcaraz won the first set in 37 minutes, breaking Rublev twice, and clinched the second set in a tense tie-break. He hit 33 winners compared to just 14 from the Russian.
“I surprised myself with how I played from the baseline,” Alcaraz reflected after the match. “I stayed calm and focused on my game, forgetting about not feeling well.”

In a heartfelt gesture, Alcaraz scribbled "Valencia" on a TV monitor post-match, offering his support to those in Spain affected by recent floods.
Earlier in the day, German second seed Alexander Zverev claimed his second win of the tournament with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory over Norway’s Casper Ruud. Zverev, a two-time ATP Finals champion, took control of the match after a closely contested first set, eventually breaking Ruud in the second to secure the win. With this result, Zverev is now one match away from a semi-final berth, needing a win over Alcaraz in their final group stage match on Friday to guarantee his place in the next round.
“I think it was a very good match from both of us," Zverev said after the win. "It was close, but I’m happy to get the victory today.”
Alcaraz's triumph over Rublev came after a disappointing loss to Ruud on Monday, marking a significant improvement in his form despite his ongoing chest discomfort. Alcaraz showed his mental toughness, coming from 40-15 down to break Rublev and take the first set. In the second, he had to save two set points before closing out the match.
Rublev, who has now lost six consecutive matches at the ATP Finals, has yet to recover his form since reaching the semi-finals last year. Meanwhile, Zverev's dominant performance against Ruud demonstrated his readiness to contend for a third ATP Finals title.
Looking ahead, American Taylor Fritz will face Australia's Alex de Minaur on Thursday, while world number one Jannik Sinner will play Daniil Medvedev. Sinner, who is undefeated so far, can advance to the semi-finals with a set win over Medvedev.

𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐀𝐁𝐄𝐋
ON AIR – Friday 8 November 9:00 pm (CET) – usmaradio.org
ENG BELOW
𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐨: The Sound of Words
𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨:
> ADDICT AMEBA desert-blues, paesaggi afrobeat, cavalcate latin rock e parentesi etio-jazz.
---

Every two weeks, on Fridays at 9:00 PM starting October 11, Rublev will guide us through the threads of contemporary, underground, independent, and experimental music, investigating the new trends and cross-genre contaminations that are redefining the global soundscape
Third episode: Friday, 08 November, 2024
Title: The Sound of Words
In the third episode, Rublev takes us to discover words and their sounds. An insight into the possible combinations of spoken word, rap and slam poetry with the languages of contemporary music (from funk to jazz, from noise to free improvisation).
Featured artists in this episode:
> ADDICT AMEBA desert-blues, afrobeat landscapes, latin rock rides and ethio-jazz parentheses. The album “Caosmosi” is enriched by the words and the voices of Joshua Idehen, Anglo-Nigerian poet and singer in “Look At Us”, and Rabii Brahim, Tunisian actor and musician, in "Ya Bled".
> OSSA DI CANE is a Nu-Jazz band from Siena, Italy, born from the meeting between Giovanni Miatto and Alessandro Vagheggini, with the aim of combining the aesthetics of hip-hop with contemporary music. “La Morte Del Re”, their first album, analyzes the individuals’ deepest self in relation to a reality that surrounds them.
> YAO BOBBY & SIMON GRAB the togolese Rapper and political activist Yao Bobby collaborates with swiss noisemaker Simon Grab. An intense soundbattle between energetic rhymes fired into a dark soundworld of raw electronic bass pulsations with a dubby punk attitude, produced on analog feedback electronics. Their show is a very raw and improvised form of live experimental hiphop, Freeform Rap and Noise.
> THE SWAMP FAM mysterious, dark, distorted, lysergic and grotesque reinterpretation of hip hop and its voices, with words that seem to come from who knows what afterlife of the sample libraries.
> FRANCESCA NAIBO looked at her past and her evolution in time and this lead her to rescue old tapes she recorded at home with a cheap recorder when she was around 8 years old. In this way she could listen again to her voice, understand its sonic and personal essence and enter in contact and dialogue with it after almost 25 years with her adult voice and her guitar, through the languages of free improvisation and composition.
