Original Description:

Another character designed to be a Phantom Thief. Not sure what exactly made me want to make this, but here we are: Sabrina Raincomprix from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir as a Phantom Thief of Hearts!

THE THIEF OUTFIT For part of Sabrina's Thief design I looked towards TwinklingCupcake's AU Sabrina's, specifically Psyche of the Compassion AU - you can see the influence in the shoulders and mask.

The boots and gloves...I tried to make it somewhat Sailor Senshi-ish (TC's got the headcanons that Sabrina's a magical girl fan).

The bottom part of the top/the skirt..Ruby Rose's battle skirt flashed briefly when I was scratching my head. I think it looks great with the rest.

The hood/cape part came more from I invision Sabrina might think of a rebellious outfit. Her dad is a cop, so, I don't know, I figured she'd see a hooded figure when envisioning a generic lawbreaker who is not completely evil. Like Robin Hood

THE WEAPONS Ranged: Colt Official Police - Makoto has a colt and her dad was a cop, so I figured same could apply to Sabrina

Melee: Spear - None of the canon Thieves have it and if Morgana can run around with a sword bigger than him somewhere on his person, then so can Sabrina, besides it's also got a good length, so it works

CODENAME I just want to cheat and use 'Psyche', but that's not very phantom thief-like, so I decided to go with 'Nymphe'.

It's just French for Nymph (Hey, who said Haru can be the only one with a French name?) and in the wikipedia page, it says that since medieval times people have been popularly associating or even confussing nymphs for fairies.

And since fairies tend to have butterfly wings and since the Hawk Moth (in the French dub Papillon) is butterfly themed, chances would be Thief!Sabrina could be seen as another Akuma (if you make it so that in this AU Persona Users of the P5 variety can also change to their Thief clothes and use their powers in the real world, though for not nearly as long as in the Metaverse (simply put: putting a cap on those godslaying abilities for the sake of the fair fight)).

There is also the Nymphaeaceae, commonly called Water Lillies. They are rather similar in appearance to the Lotus (though they are not the same breed of plant) and those symbolise purity, awakening, loyalty (different for each color of lotus), so it's a pretty nice codename in my opinion.

Huh, I wonder who'd win in a fight: a Persona User or a Miraculous Chosen? YOU DECIDE!

PERSONA AND SKILL Now, for an initial Persona, I have some troubles deciding on who. If you wanna go basic, Joan of Arc could do rather well - French, a well known heroine, could do rather well. If you wanna go more interesting, Jeanne de Valois-Saint-Rémy, an illegimitate descendand of the French Royal Family, a thief in her own right and helped destroy the French monarchy - now that sounds like a badass Persona! If you wanna go a bit more obscure, there is Baroness Troixmonde AKA Filibus, a mysterious burglar with an airship and with a secret identity.

As for her skills, I'm thinking Wind (Garu) or Psy, to fit her butterfly aesthetic.

CHRONICLES FROM REDWOOD: Summaries (WIP)

Chronicles From Redwood is currently a work-in-progress, and I've just begun outlining the plot of each story. They are Horror/Comedy YA stories, and all of them contain the overarching theme of coming to terms with the past and moving on. This is what the summary of all nine of the stories concerning the girls and subject to change, so this is technically a WIP.

STORY 1: DEAD BEACH

Thanks to getting in trouble on the first day of school, the year seems to be shaping up for the worst for Devyn Summers, Lyric Smith and Caitlin Flowers. As the three start to bond over how much they'd like to be anywhere other than here, mysterious and bloody incidents start happening on the beach near town...

STORY 2: LOVE LUNACY

The La Mode Noire boutique is organizing an amateur fashion context, with the winning team getting the occasion of meeting the brand's head designer! Noel Rodriguez, Abigail 'Glimmer' Hawkins and Shin-Hye Gwishin decide to team up, reasoning that they have a better chance of winning the contest if they team up than if they went against one another. They decide to take for inspiration the colorful characters around town, but realize that there is something off about their clashing...

STORY 3: ONI MISCHIEF

While getting a drink at the local café, Frederique "Fred" Blair, Chloe Wright and Zoe Macbeth catch a rumor of some kind of weirdo hanging around the local temple. The three of them end up hiding overnight there for different reason, and end up finding that the "weirdo" is much more than that...

STORY 4: RED FOREST

Afeda Abdi recently decided to start a gardening club at the Academy, and finds her first two members in classmates Alicia Torrance and Automne Delamontagne. They quickly agree to go in the woods near town to study some of the more unique flora there. An outing gone wrong later, and the three girls now have a blood red being hunting for them...

STORY 5: SPOOKY COOKIE

After being put together on a team for a school project in their history class, Yui Masayoshi, Jiao Wise and Nhu' Mai Tran Le decide to do a project on The Blizzard of 1953 and the effects it had on the town. But when they take things a bit too far and go to investigate a house that's been abandoned since, they find themselves in a very spooky situation...

STORY 6: ELECTRIC HIT

While sudden electric outages are nothing new in Redwood, the mayor has decided to use them as a justification to try and integrate the town into a nearby city. This does not sit well with Maelyn Cioban, who enlists the help of Lilly Green-Brown and Rina Floyd to sabotage the mayor's plans. But in doing so, they might unearth something dark...

STORY 7: STARLESS NIGHT

The Institute of the White Lady is putting on a theater play, and Phoebe Walker sees becoming it's stagehand as an opportunity to learn. Unfortunately, the piece is being written by perfectionist Ruby Blossoms, and the lead Ruth Hertz has severe stage fright. Taking the two out to try and talk some things out, they stay out a bit latter than anticipated...

STORY 8: WHITE LADY

Triplets Clara, Valkyrie and Dawn Van Spectran have always been close, even as life seems intent on pushing them apart. It's last attempt- puberty- was a mild success. But the sounds of their house have been growing louder recently. This might be their last chance to be an unbreakable trio before they grow too far apart...

STORY 9: LAST ONE

Redwood is haunted. That is a fact Lindsey Graves has known her whole life, Lucia Locke has known since she got in that weird accident when she was eight, and Hel O'Lilitu probably contributes to. The three team up together to try and figure out why that is, and probably end up finding out more than they thought they would...

I won’t lie. As I write this post I am at the end of a mammoth post prep session in which I have prepared a rather small (not) 15 posts. Yes you read that correctly. 15 posts!!! Not all are original content. There is one re-post and some are quick cut and paste jobs for reviews from Mandie, but I still have to prep all the links, pictures etc, check spelling and basically stay awake. not easy given the fact that I am absolutely shattered.

Manchester and Edinburgh with work this week which allowed me to listen to a cracking audio book, but all this mucking around of y work schedule really plays havoc with my sleep patterns (when I eventually do sleep) and unsettles the dog, meaning I get treated to a middle of the night barking session which is always nice. Not. Really starting to feel my age this week.

After all of the excitement of last week I’ve very little of interest to tell you this week. I am still on a bit of a high from the whole best book blogs thing last week to be fair, at least I’m hoping that explains the light-headedness ;). This week has been mostly about work and reading though, which isn’t all bad as I’ve been needing a little down time to recharge the old batteries.

Book post wise I only got the one delivery this week but it was a very welcome one. Bad Sister by the lovely Sam Carrington courtesy of Avon Books. I loved Saving Sophie so I’m really looking forward to reading this one as I’m on the blog tour in a couple of weeks.

Oh. One bit of bookish news – I made 500 direct followers/subscribers on the blog. A big thanks to everyone who does follow and also to everyone who puts up with my record number of twonkish tweets while following me on Twitter. Your support is very much appreciated.

Book purchase wise, I was doing so well. And then I prepped Karen Cole’s book love post and ended up back on Amazon buying one of her recommendations … and a few others. I blame book love. It was nothing to do with me…

So, I ended up purchasing Kill Me Twice by Simon Booker, The Binding Song by Elodie Harper, Heroic Justice and Deadly Encounter by Mel Comley, The Language of Secrets by Ausma Zehanat Khan and Christmas at the Falling Down Guest House by Lilly Bartlett. On audible I purchased The Binding Song and Without Trace by Simon Booker.

Netgalley wise I may have picked up a few titles. Just a few. The Wicked Cometh by Laura Carlin, Class Murder by Leigh Russell, Silent Victim by Caroline Mitchell and The Deaths of December by Susi Holliday.

Reading wise I didn’t quite manage all I wanted to this week do I treat that as a fail. I managed three of my planned four books, but snuck in an audiobook on the side.

Crikey. How in God’s name am I supposed to review this? One word. Brilliant. No. Actually. Two words. Bloody brilliant. I love the humour that flows through this book, no less that you would expect from Roberta Steele and her potty mouth. I really don’t know where to begin with a review but I’m going to have to figure it out as I’ve got to review for First Monday Crime. Murder Game by Caroline Mitchell

Oh my life. What a cracking read – quite probably the best one in the series. Sad to see the end of the Ruby Preston series but what a way to bow out, tracking down a ruthless serial killer who is murdering adulterers. It is down to Ruby to convince the killers mentor and muse, Mason Gatley to help her before it is too late. The book is released on 31st October, but you can preorder it right here.

Oh my life. I picked this up on a whim as I am going to hear the author on a panel at First Monday Crime in a couple of weeks. I am so glad that I did. What a chilling and atmospheric book.
