Hey, don't cry, okay? A great love is a lot like a good memory. When it's there, and you know it's there, but it's just out of your reach, it can be all that you think about. And you can focus on it and try to force it. But the more that you do, the more you seem to push it away. But if you're patient and hold still, maybe, just maybe, it'll come to you. I just have to be somewhere that she can find me. And I mean, hey, if you're going to spend the rest of your life in a memory, why not make it a good one?

i always thought it is funny but i don't think i ever appreciated how flawed epsilons logic in the memory unit was.
for one he messed up with most of the reds personalities while trying to recreate blood gulch but also he tried to recreate them like they were at first but then approached them from the viewpoint of like, revelation and then is surprised they shoot him
#the whole not letting tex go asides#because that is the lesson he learns#also he ends revelations with with this speach about spending forever in a good memory#and starts season 9 with being pissed off and mad about everything#you made this church!!#i love that cranky guy#i forgot that despite still being obnoxious tucker spends so much time in this season being the only person with common sense#rvb#red vs blue#leonard church

So I've got some thoughts for my RvB gang.
I had a thought recently. I found Sharkface to be an extremely boring villain. Like he was cool(ish) and the jokes about how edy he was trying to be were funny(ish) but. You know who would have been more fun? The dude with the robot arm.
Think about it - the guy was shot by Carolina and left behind on a drilling rig that blew up, and survived. He tanked a MAC round from orbit and all he lost was his right arm. They've set up a perfect villain here. Claiming he literally can't die would be so funny! Every time he appears he dies, then he just shows back up with yet another robotic prosthetic. His whole subplot is that he just desperately wants to die, and he finally figured out that the pyramid thing is his only shot at finally getting his wish. The problem is that he would also wipe out the rest of life as we know it if he did that.
Anyway, the background subplot is what's really important here. Carolina is being hunted down by a shadowy figure. Evidence points to him being another hired gun working with the pirates. He is always half a step behind her, getting closer and closer to tracking her down.
Eventually in the climax, the hitman catches up to Carolina. They go through an intense duel, where he seems to be able to anticipate all of her best moves and counteract them. Finally, she manages to hit the guy hard enough to knock off his helmet.
It's York.
Then we get some backstory - when York was shot going after Wyoming, Delta turned on his healing unit. He then told Tex that York was dying. As soon as she left Delta woke York back up, got him to swap armor with one of the grunts, and disappear.
So York spent several months slowly recovering. During that time, life finally beat him. He didn't have his armor, he didn't have his healing unit anymore, and he didn't have Delta to keep him coming. He finally gave up on the dream of finding Carolina alive somewhere.
So instead, he decided it was high time someone finally killed Director Church. He would kill the man who took everything he'd ever loved - admittedly, in a roundabout sort of way - from him. Only when he tracked the director down, he found hundreds of dead Allison lookalikes and archive footage of yet another cheap robot replacement killing the Director - except this time Church went to far. He made a replacement of her. He couldn't even let his own daughter's memory find peace.
So, York ended up with a new goal: kill the robot that had stolen Carolina's face (armor). End it once and for all. Bring some closure for the girl that he loved so much but never got to keep.
After all of this revelation, we finally get York and Carolina's big happy ending. I don't know how they beat the immortal robo guy, but mostly I just care about my Yorkalina angst and resolutions.
Anyway. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts. And... should I write this at some point? Let me know.

First day of RvB OC Week!
Prompt: Introduction (my boy is finally actually properly getting introduced to the internet!!!1)
Meet Aster "Arizona" Ashton, an absolute mary-sue of a guy who exists solely for my enjoyment and nothing else. At lot of things about him are just cause I thought it would be cool. (I gave him his callsign after forgetting that Arizona is mentioned to be frozen by Temple so shhhhhh, he's alive and having a time w/ the Reds and Blues.)
Long post below:
Brought into Project Freelancer as a 16 year old, he was supposed to be an experiment as to how teenagers would react to having an ai, though things went to shit before he could actually have one implanted. C.T. wound up sending him off The Mother Of Invention via escape pod before she up and left then died, where he wound up in Blood Gulch on the Reds Side of the gulch, and quickly scooped up by Sarge.
Though, he doesn't mention that he's a Freelancer, seeing how they didn't ask why his armor wasn't red, and he didn't want to destroy Sarge with the revelation of the truth (which actually leads to a spat with the Reds after Wash reveals the truth.)
He has changed so much since I first thought him up in 2022, to the point where his entire body was fully intact, he was cis, and had and actual shade of red as his armor thanks to not yet being a freelancer. Things evolved and at one point he was Norths kid, where he got his color palate from. (His armor design was/still is Norths colors swapped places thanks to this.) Though he is no longer related to any of them.
Right side explosion scar comes from the incident w/ Tex blowing Donut up (idiot was distracted with trying to figure out what to do now that Freelancers have actually showed up and ruined his plans), left side knife scar and lack of left arm come from the fight with Felix and Locus where Felix got his eye, and in his pain and blindness, Locus's energy sword got his arm. The right arm was lost in the crash on Chorus, and the vivisection scar comes from Temple, who decided he needed to be an even bigger bastard than usual.
He can see due to *insert sci-fi/Sarge invention here* that I haven't/don't care to figure out. Loves to invent and work with cybernetics, and specializes in hand to hand combat thanks to his nerd ass making clawed prosthetics.

Blood Gulch Chronicles
The first two seasons of Red vs Blue are perfect for what they are, an early web sitcom. It's really fun watching how little growing pains there are. Just about everyone's personalities and voices are so well defined. But there are still growing pains, although these are not a pain to see happen. Donut especially evolves as a character, it's hard to imagine season five Donut throwing that frag grenade. Caboose says the phrase "why buy the cow when the milk is free?". Even half a season later, he would never say that. As soon as he kills Church, his voice and personality become what we now of it today. And Sarge's voice changes a little. And that's really it, these first two seasons are perfect. And then the ending of season two, they have to join forces and Tucker finds out that they're conflict has all been a lie. This is the strongest ending of any season from this era.
Season three starts of with a bang, showing new character pairings whilst ramping up the conflict and introducing new aspects like Wyoming and the players from the real world. Even when they get to Halo 2, the story is real fun and is still all about RvB. Then Church goes back in time. Him interacting with Lopez and the audience meeting Butch Flowers is great stuff, great time travel shenanigans. Then the next half an hour is stuff we've already seen before, a glorified clip show. Why would a web series need a clip show? And it is revealed that Church is quote "the team killing fucktard". All of the time travel stuff robs the first two seasons of any narrative weight and, whilst the final shot is a very nice quiet moment with Sheila, the moral is that you can't change anything. And Church doesn't reveal any of this to anyone, only him and us the audience know. So what was the point of that? And this is when I think RvB enters a bit of a rut. A little aside, I have previously seen most of RvB, up to season 10. I remember some of the stuff from later that reframes this whole arc but I am entering this viewing without any later context. I am watching Blood Gulch in a vacuum, as I would if only this arc existed and nothing else. The worst revelation, which I know they get change their mind on, is Tucker's discovery. Apparently, now, the conspiracy about RvB is false. So, you've told us a season ago that there was the conspiracy, implying that this season is going to explore that and the conclusion is that it was a mistake. That's my issue with the rest of Blood Gulch. All setup with no payoff. Like the prophecy stuff in season four, it ends with the alien dying and Blue team deciding to return home. Half of your show, the A plot, is serious plotting that isn't fun or compelling to watch. And the Red team, the B plot, the stuff that's fun to watch is framed as not important. Admittedly, season five is much better than the last two. Both teams have equal importance and they both further the plot. But it's clear that the writers have broken the structure of the show. They can't return to the sitcom of the first era. And the ending falls into the traps of the last two seasons, focusing primarily on the Blues with the Red team in thrown to the wasteside. Whilst the stuff with Tucker is cool and I know the ending is supposed to be a cliffhanger, I just don't find the mystery of Tex defecting compelling. I know that's what a cliffhanger is, but I just found it so tired. I don't know how else to put it.
And then it's implied that Tucker was right about there being a conspiracy? I don't know, it's frustrating to watch. The show went from RvB to BLUE! (Red may be included). And it sucks, that set up to season three is so strong with them joining forces and new pairings show up. And they want to change the shows direction but just keep giving as the same stuff. Without knowing what happens next season, I would be seriously worried about this show. And that's the thing, most people prefer seasons 6-13, with the engaging plot and the focus on lore and what not. But if I had only seen the plot of seasons 3-5, I would not be hopeful.
A show changing is fine and I remember really liking the rest of the show. I just find it funny that the first two seasons don't really have growing pains but to when they decide that they want to be a sci-fi drama rather than a sitcom, that's when the growing pains set in. From what I've seen of the miniseries from this arc, I know the writing is going to get better. I just hope Red team is as much of focus. Hell, I hope Tucker and Caboose don't end up in the shadow of church. To end on a more positive note, Blood Gulch is about a bunch of people who hate each other being stuck together. But I find it fun to see whom actually likes one another. Everyone on Blue team really like Donut, which is really funny because of how no one on Red team respects him. Caboose likes Church, and deep down Church likes Caboose. And deep down, Church and Tucker like one another. But funnily enough, Caboose doesn't like Tucker? And Church doesn't like Simmons? I just find this stuff funny. Like in It's Always Sunny, another show about a group of people who hate one another, it's very clear that deep down Mac and Charlie, and Charlie and Dennis like each other. I don't know, it's fun.
I do like RvB and I did like a majority of the Blood Gulch Chronicles, 70% of it if you do the math. I just found the story stuff not compelling.

watched rvb restoration! it was fine
yeah not super strong general impressions. not sure if the writing quality was worse than previous seasons or if i'm just older and without the nostalgia goggles. fight scenes were also mediocre but those have been getting worse since season 10 (and considering that RT was actively going under during production i'm not surprised)
grimmons "come with me" was crazy. lmfao. simmons should have taken him up on that, them being separated feels so hollow
the only part of note to me was wash's doc revelation? i thought that was genuinely a little surprising. i liked it. their dynamic is why i like season 8 as much as i do and it was nice to see that valued by wash himself. (especially since doc gets totally shafted in literally every other season. but i think he's so funny.) and i liked the shoutout to the old freelancers, which is predictable
EXTREMELY funny that the plot is the reds + caboose dicking around and then summoning their Competent Women to actually get shit done. which, to be fair, is the plot of like every other rvb season. shoutout to kai for being the one (1) woman in the cast who's also allowed to also be a dumbass
felt weird that tucker was not in it. but he was the main character of like the entire chorus arc so i'm actually fine with the spotlight being on simmons and grif
tldr: it felt rushed and fanservicey but that wasn't surprising. a fine watch but nothing groundbreaking. if the scrapped grimmons confession was in there that would have at least been interesting

I jump around to whatever im feeling! I’ll watch revelation and then s17 if i’m feeling up to it. At some point i watched RvB in reverse order. But i skip s16 alot. I also stop at s17
open question for rvb fans
when you rewatch the show, what seasons do you watch?
the full series? just season 6 onwards? do you stop after chorus? do you stop BEFORE chorus? i wanna know!!
you can let me know through comments/reblogs but if you feel your strategy is particularly shameful my ask box is also open lol

Never forget that time...
... when the RvB fandom saw the end of S13E1, and saw a guy with shark tattoos, a shark-like eye, facial scarring that looks like a shark’s mouth, and a huge chunk of them collectively decided that he was Maine.
On a related note, thank you, Season 13, for finally confirming that the Meta died in S8.

5 instances come to mind:
when i was 13 and lost my best friend of like 4 years because he got SO annoyed i wouldn't stop talking about homestuck and relating everything back to it and hanging out with my other friend who got me into it. we would speak in homestuck riddles and call each other the names of characters. and the worst part about it was that i wasn't even sad i lost him bc all i cared about was making more references
one time i was talking to this guy and i was like "i like assassins creed!" and he was like "oh shit me too!" and i was like HOLY SHIT FR and instantly started going in about how i love syndicate. he said he hadn't played it, but he liked ezio, so i started going off about my love for revelations. and he was not getting it. so he goes, "yeah, like, also the pirate one... what's that one called?" and i was . like. "black ... black flag?" and he stared at me blankly. it was at that moment that i realized he did not care about the games in the same capacity and was just trying to be nice to make conversation. and i had just straight up dropped an essay he did not understand. he was like, "oh... so you're... one of those lore experts, damn..." and went to change the subject. . HELP .
recently, and my friends will recall this, when i was fixated on IT i heard a fucking car go by and my first thought was "just like Bill's bicycle, Silver!" and it made so little sense that it took me out of reality for a solid minute and i just stood at my apartment door, dumbfounded.
my friends legitimately knowing me as "the rvb guy". like everytime they see rvb they will be like. "oh its your show". and they all have rvb on their watchlist as if seeing it will somehow appease me and make me proud and give them friendship points. ITS GENUINELY SO FUCKING FUNNY lksdfsdfsd and EVEN FURTHER THAN THAT, they know me as the Dexter Grif guy. everyone i know - even my brother who knows near nothing about my interests - knows about grif because i have such a peculiar love for him. ^_^
when i started watching jake and amir i copied this sheet someone else made and quested to watch every single episode and add notes + rate them so that way when i inevitably made edits, i could reference my sheet and get the episode link. i have color coded grades in it :,) and now that i have it i sometimes use it to name episodes when i see them in compilations like a gameshow
What was a moment that made you realise you're obsessed with something?
One of my clearest memories was staying up late to chat with a friend over text while they were sick and while I needed to be somewhere early in the morning. At first, we were chatting about Animaniacs since the convo started with them sending my a Yakko's world meme, I was texting them the lyrics to some songs while they made the occasional comment about the lyrics and they started talking about a game they couldn't remember the name of and how they wanted to play it with someone. I was instantly like 'You're talking about Epic Mickey 2, right?' they were like, 'Lol idk my memory is trash' they started to talk about Oswald, so I informed them that Oswald is real and wasn't just made for the game and they were like ':O !'. I then started gushing about the lucky rabbit for an hour and legit started heavily breathing and fangirling with pure joy and excitement whilst trying to remind myself that it was currently 1 am.
