Effingham, Illinois

A little action is seen here on the former Pennsylvania Railroad in Effingham in central Illinois. While this appears to be the Penn Central era, this image was made on the eve of the Bicentennial—not long after Conrail was formed.

We see some light power (two EMD SD45s) move about near the crossing with Illinois Central's famed Main Line of Mid-America.

I enjoy the plethora of railroad accoutrement in this shot: the distinctive Pennsy signals, multiple train order racks, and copious amount of code line on the poles. By the way, that first locomotive, number 6107, was built for the PRR in 1966.

2024 Year in Review: January por Brian D Plant Por Flickr: On a snowy Sunday morning, Susquehanna SD40-2 3022 leads the way through Homer, New York with the twice-weekly road train from New Jersey. It’s all second generation EMD six-axles on today’s power set with a former N&W high-hood SD40 leading a former SP SD40T-2, BN SD45 and finally an SD40-2 originally built as a high-hood Southern Railway.

Here's two Chicagoland expatriates, the former BN 9921 and 9915, running for their next owner NYS&W, powering a northbound BH-2 double stack consist up the Syracuse side at Tully Center Road on the morning of 15 February 1997, assisted by an SD45 and an F45.

Hearst-1997

Algoma Central train #1 slumbers at Hearst, Ontario, in July 1997. Under Wisconsin Central control, the AC acquired former CN/VIA FP9s for passenger service. 1750 & 1754 with two baggage cars and two coaches will return to Sault Ste. Marie as #2 in the morning. It is 11:00 pm and total darkness comes much later this far north in the summer. WC SD45 #6609 awaits freight duties.

My life as a artist and inspiration for making fanart!

It all started when i was 3, i remember ive been drawing a lot of stickmans cuz they just were very easy to draw and it was like some kind of "stickman stories or fantasy idk?" And i seen to end up enjoying it but not only that, i would later draw sirens and other stuff i was fascinated to, and i kept drawing stickmans until later on i then would finally get my braincells to regenerate and make myself more mature, i stopped drawing stickmans all the time, i started to get into oc! And other kinds of art style and i would as of today draw whatever i had a idea on my head for the near future and many more years to come!

I saw a fanmade animation of where a video is called aging which was a edit from a youtuber named whoamiedits

I saw that video but i didnt clicked on it cuz idk whats about to happen there, i was just more into anime and i didnt know what that video was, it was like somekind of randon animation, that was my first thing i saw something related to omori before joining the fandom and i saw it to this day and i was like "wait that video looks familiar to me" it was back in 2021 when i saw it and omori was like 1 years old, but then after joining the fandom after watching a mclovin video but omori version and i seen to enjoy the fandon, i was a big kny fan by the time, and theres was very popular stuff going on in the fandom, but when did i got into omori fanart? It all started with the first ever one i posted, i originally used it for my art class i then i did not recognize.... I actually made a actual omori fanart and that surprised me! So then i decided to make more! And it made me happy and even thanks to art class, it also helped me more! And it was a great piece of thing I will ever do I will still make art to this day and thats where are are today!

Southern Pacific SD40R 7342 Los Angeles CA 1-11-1981 by Cody White Via Flickr: Here's a shot of Southern Pacific SD40R 7342 at Taylor Yard in Los Angeles January 1981. This is an interesting variation of the SP paint scheme that needs a lot of explaining. The 7342 was built in April 1966 as SP 8470 and was rebuilt in the SP M-99(GRIP II) program at Sacramento in December 1980. The 8470 emerged as SD40R 7342 in the paint scheme seen above. The paint scheme was a variation of SP's famous "Daylight" orange and red scheme. Both sides of the 7342 were different in paint separation lines and lettering color. The engineer side had gray near the top of the hood and on top of the cab. The other side was entirely orange and the separation between the gray and orange was on top of the hood, unseen from the ground. Management didn't like this and it was quickly repainted with the gray on the fireman side as well. The lettering was white on the engineer side while the fireman side was red. The nose wings had feathers on the engineers side and solid on the fireman side. In November 1981, an SD45 was rebuilt(SP 8837, BLT 9/66) and emerged as SD44R 7399 in another variation of Daylight orange and red. This unit had a solid red nose, white lettering on both sides in a single line(not stacked like the 7342) and the sides of the long hood were predominately red instead of orange. The 7342 was repainted to match the 7399 in November 1981 but the lettering remained stacked, although both sides were now white. Both units were eventually repainted into other schemes. The 7342 was repainted into standard SP gray and red in 1989 while the 7399 went into the Kodachrome scheme, then to the standard SP scheme. Westbound

Not certain of the location, but I believe this is a westbound (on the Big Four, NYC) west of Avon, Indiana. Specifically I'm wondering if this might be to the east of Greencastle, but west of Fillmore (at N. County Road 300E).

Update: a pal of mine used to shoot at this very spot: it's located at the "town" of Reno, a bit further east than what I was thinking. The road cross is listed as N County Road 900 E on Google.

We're seven and a half months into the Conrail era. While the lead locomotive sports the Penn Central colors, the number boards gives us a clue that this is a former SD45 of the Pennsylvania Railroad; it was built in December of 1967. A blue GE U-boat follows.

It Was May 8 1971,I Arrived At Burlington,Vermont With A Freight Train and I Was Tasked to Take a 150-Car Maintenance Train Lettered NEC7V9 to Pennsylvania,I Left at 5:00 AM On The MainLine

At Pennsylvania,Penn Central Freight Train PC62V Was Bound For Chicago,Illinois,It Was Being Lead By Two SD45's(Bailey and Xavier)and Followed By An 87-Car Freight Train and They Left The Yard At 5:30(30 Minutes From my Departure)

We Were Supposed To Met Each Other At The 18th Street Rail Switch Yard,So That Bailey and Xavier Could Go In A Siding So That I Could Pass,Down The Line Things Started to Go Wrong.

Unknown To Bailey and Xavier,They Have Already Pass The Siding and They Weren't Notified and Entered The Mainline(The Same Line I Was Thundering By)

Me and My Conductor Saw Two Bright Lights Ahead Of The Main And Assumed It Was a Drag Race Near Us,But When The Light Got Brighter,We Turned Our Lights Off and Saw The Penn Central Freight Train On Our Line Not Stopping and Once We Both Got Our Sight,We Applied Our Brakes,Blew Our Horns and Whistles And Closed Our Eyes Trying to Stop But It Was Too Late.

Both Of Our Trains Collide At 18th Street at 10:00 AM and Me and Bailey Were Seriously Injured and Xavier Was Fatality Injured In The Wreck

Me and Bailey Was Rebuild Back and Put Back Into Service and In the End,Bailey Was Rebuilt Into a SD45R in 1979 and Traded To The Southern Pacific and Was Scrapped in After a Derailment Explosion.
