Joliet with Texas Eagle, Part Two
Following up on my previous post on Joliet: only twenty minutes later we see another Texas Eagle, this time the southbound Number 21. I had a quick, friendly chat with Fortier who was working the train.
And I've included a vintage shot here as well: the Santa Fe Super-C, seen in 1975. This is the only train (back then) I had images of going in a southerly direction.
As stated before, the tower is now a railroad museum with a new transportation center attached. Not sure what is happening with Union Station, but it's good to see it well taken care of.
Once again, the Amtrak train is on the former GM&O, now Union Pacific. And now we have evidence of the other double track main beging that of the former ATSF. The Rock Island Railroad crossed the two other lines here (see next post).
Five images by Richard Koenig; taken 1975 (1) and May 2nd 2024.

Bicentennial Display by NAPM Model Railroad Club Via Flickr: Eight locomotives in bicentennial liveries assemble for a special event in NAPM's Ottawa yard in 1975. This photo was inspired by an iconic prototype photo taken by Trains magazine at the Belt Railway of Chicago's 87th Street yard; it was taken during a special NAPM photo session featuring 22 member-owned bicentennial locomotives. My life as a artist and inspiration for making fanart!
It all started when i was 3, i remember ive been drawing a lot of stickmans cuz they just were very easy to draw and it was like some kind of "stickman stories or fantasy idk?" And i seen to end up enjoying it but not only that, i would later draw sirens and other stuff i was fascinated to, and i kept drawing stickmans until later on i then would finally get my braincells to regenerate and make myself more mature, i stopped drawing stickmans all the time, i started to get into oc! And other kinds of art style and i would as of today draw whatever i had a idea on my head for the near future and many more years to come!
Inspiration
I saw a fanmade animation of where a video is called aging which was a edit from a youtuber named whoamiedits
This is what it looks like:
Tumblr media
I saw that video but i didnt clicked on it cuz idk whats about to happen there, i was just more into anime and i didnt know what that video was, it was like somekind of randon animation, that was my first thing i saw something related to omori before joining the fandom and i saw it to this day and i was like "wait that video looks familiar to me" it was back in 2021 when i saw it and omori was like 1 years old, but then after joining the fandom after watching a mclovin video but omori version and i seen to enjoy the fandon, i was a big kny fan by the time, and theres was very popular stuff going on in the fandom, but when did i got into omori fanart? It all started with the first ever one i posted, i originally used it for my art class i then i did not recognize.... I actually made a actual omori fanart and that surprised me! So then i decided to make more! And it made me happy and even thanks to art class, it also helped me more! And it was a great piece of thing I will ever do I will still make art to this day and thats where are are today!
Alright enough yapping me :/
_____________________________________
So thats all theres more art im gonna make and other stuff so, you reached the end! Thanks for reading and enjoy! :)

Conrail 6666 at Cresson, PA.
Conrail 6666 at Cresson, PA.
Working with a Leica M3 fitted with a 50mm Summicron, I exposed this photo of Conrail SD45-2 6666 on the wye at Cresson, Pennsylvania in July 1989. I loaded the camera with Kodak Plus-X (ISO 125). Interestingly, back then I rarely used this once-popular film in the 35mm format as instead I tended to prefer either Kodak’s Tri-X (ISO 400) or Ilford FP4 (ISO 125). I don’t recall why I opted for…

Westbound from Avon
The first image here shows a westbound train ready to depart Avon Yard (in the distance, on the left hand side of the frame). We're on the former Big Four/NYC west of Indianapolis.
Conrail is two months old when these pictures were taken so the power standing off to the side is interesting—three units of the Erie Lackawanna along with a Penn Central unit with a Pennsy logo peeking out. Two of three EL units (SD45-2 and SDP45) were purchased with the idea of having larger fuel capacity for long runs from the east to Chicago without refueling.
The second image has the train down the line about six miles, directly south of Danville, Indiana. We're looking down on the railway from State Road 39.
Two images by Richard Koenig; taken June 5, 1976.

The Moran Brothers last hurrah by Greg Brown Via Flickr: Flooding in late December 1996 put the Shasta Route and the Feather River Canyon out of service. Aside from going to Salt Lake, the only way to get up and down the west coast by rail was a detour over Donner Pass and the Modoc Line. For a couple of weeks, the Modoc Line was busier than it had ever been. In this image, an eastbound (southbound) passes a train parked in Moran siding. Most of the detour trains ran in fleets of five or six at a time, generally at speeds of 15-20 MPH. Any railfans that were there experienced the ultimate Modoc turkey shoot. Alas, on July 1, 1997, Union Pacific closed the Modoc for good as a through route. The rails were removed a few years later.
