Hey! Today on #malcified, I’d like to share this sketch called #SustainedDisability focused on the #UN #SDGs and corporate #ESG policies that are key drivers of major transformation toward a more #green and #sustainable future. And of course our collective disability, when it comes to over-reliance on fossil-fuel and the awesome machines (#ICE) that run on it.
Disability: a physical or mental condition that limits a person's movements, senses, or activities. - Oxford
Renewable energy is energy derived from natural sources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed. Sunlight and wind, for example, are such sources that are constantly being replenished. Renewable energy sources are plentiful and all around us. - UN
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) is shorthand for an investing principle that prioritizes environmental issues, social issues, and corporate governance. - Wiki

As the world transitions toward renewable energy to power their daily needs, #Transportation and #Logistics being a major contributor of CO₂ and other toxic emissions that are cause for #pollution, #climatechange, #globalwarming, and other major #naturaldisasters that are increasing threat, exposure, and impact financially and reputationally to businesses, organizations, economies, individuals and communities through the actualization of #PhysicalRisk and #TransitionRisk, it’s imperative that #PolicyMakers act with prudence and #Policymeasures at National Government Level, Industry and Sectoral Level, and at individual Business levels are implemented and enforced without delay.
#TonefromtheTop is always an essential driver for change and when leading global #MNCs and #Consulting firms pave the way to this necessary transition, raise awareness and enable transformation by implementing Policies and Initiatives that accelerate the culture of transition, the effects cascade throughout the sector creating an environment of #peerpressure, while enhancing business Reputation, Stakeholder engagement, Employee pride and ownership, Share values, Top and Bottom Lines, Goodwill and Asset Valuations while protecting and preventing a #HotHouseEarthScenario in the long run.

Maximizing Corporate Social Responsibility Impact: Partnering with Marpu Foundation for Sustainable Development Goals
Tumblr media
Today, the role of businesses in India is evolving beyond just generating profits. They’re becoming important partners in building a better, more sustainable future. This shift is especially visible in the way Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts are increasingly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With CSR made mandatory under the Companies Act, 2013, many companies are now investing in initiatives that tackle real social, economic, and environmental issues all while contributing to a global movement for change.
However, the true heart of this impact often lies in how these efforts reach the people who need them most. That’s where organizations like Marpu Foundation come in. As an NGO rooted in community service, Marpu brings a thoughtful, hands-on approach to transforming CSR funds into meaningful chnages.
Why Marpu Is the Ideal CSR Partner? If you’re part of an organization with a CSR mandate, here’s why you should consider partnering with Marpu:
1. Thoughtfully Designed CSR Campaigns: Marpu works closely with companies to create campaigns that genuinely reflect their values while ensuring real impact for the communities they aim to support.
2. Hands On Volunteering: Giving back isn’t just about financial aid. With Marpu, employees can actively take part in volunteering their time and energy through meaningful, people focused initiatives. It’s about building real connections.
3. Transparency You Can Trust: Every effort counts and Marpu makes sure you see where and how. They provide clear, honest updates and reports on the difference your contributions are making.
4. Deep Roots in Local Communities: Marpu doesn’t just plan from behind a desk. Their team is out there partnering with schools, engaging local leaders, and working hand-in-hand with volunteers to drive change from the ground up.
Real Projects That Leave a Mark
Gift a Pad: Addressing period poverty by distributing sanitary pads and leading awareness sessions in underserved schools.
Green Drives: Tree-planting and eco-awareness events where both employees and students pitch in.
Health & Education Camps: Free health checkups, vaccination drives, and school supply distributions to help support low-income families.
A few Marpu projects in action:

Tumblr media
In a world full of NGOs, Marpu Foundation stands out for one simple reason: they act. With a heart for the community and a commitment to doing the work, they’re quietly building something meaningful. They're still growing, and maybe that’s what makes them special and each project still feels personal.
"At Marpu Foundation, we believe that true change happens when communities are empowered to build a sustainable future for themselves. Our work is about creating lasting solutions that not only address immediate needs but also prepare future generations for success." -Founder, Marpu Foundation

Icons of Change Awards PhilMarine 2025
Sustainable Development Goal: SDG 13 – Climate Action Excellence in Environmental Advocacy and Sustainable Leadership
David Delano D’Angelo National President, Green Party of the Philippines | Environmental Advocate | Youth Leader | Multimedia Changemaker
---
A Life in Motion: From Cosplay to Climate Action, A Champion of People, Planet, and Purpose
In a world where advocacy often wears many faces, few individuals embody multidimensional activism as fully as David Delano D’Angelo. As a passionate environmentalist, youth leader, content creator, and founder of civic movements, David has devoted his life to uniting climate action with creativity, grassroots leadership with digital influence, and policy engagement with public participation. Currently serving as the National President of the Green Party of the Philippines, David stands at the helm of a movement dedicated to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and social equity. Since 2020, he has guided the organization in its mission to promote climate-responsive governance and empower communities to take ownership of the planet's future. His work is grounded in SDG 13: Climate Action, and animated by decades of grassroots organizing and advocacy.
His journey, however, began not in comfort or privilege—but in adversity. Growing up without both parents and amidst the hardships of rural poverty, David found inspiration in community, culture, and the conviction that the Philippines deserved better. These roots shaped his lifelong devotion to environmental justice and peace-building.
A founding member and Vice President of the Bayanihan Para sa Kalikasan Movement, Inc. (BPKMI), David also holds leadership roles in numerous climate and civic organizations, including Green Convergence Philippines, the Upper Marikina Watershed Coalition, Aksyon Kalikasan, PeaceTech, and the Asia Pacific Greens Federation. He has consistently championed climate policies, environmental reforms, sustainable consumption, and local-to-global ecological diplomacy.
But David’s reach goes far beyond politics and policy. As one of the first 100 bloggers in the Philippines, a cosplayer for a cause, and the visionary behind Naruto Cosplayers PH (NCPH) and Ako at ang Kalikasan TV (AKTV), David has innovatively blended media, arts, and activism to draw public attention to the climate crisis. His creative campaigns bring youth into the conversation—demonstrating that climate justice isn’t just a scientific or political challenge, but a deeply human one.
He is also a board member and sustainability director in a wide network of civic organizations, and a delegate to global forums such as the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and Generation Peace Network. Whether coordinating national campaigns, lobbying for SK reform, training youth leaders, or developing digital content, David brings a unique blend of lived experience, strategic thinking, and passionate heart to every initiative.
Despite his towering achievements, David is equally known for his humility and sincerity—as a single father, a community organizer, and a voice of the people. His story is not only about rising to leadership, but about lifting others up, mentoring the next generation, and proving that personal struggle can become national service when guided by compassion, creativity, and conviction.
Icons of Change proudly honors David Delano D’Angelo with the Excellence in Environmental Advocacy and Sustainable Leadership award for his enduring contributions to climate action, civic education, and movement building. He is a rare force of nature—fusing activism with authenticity, and creating a legacy that inspires all Filipinos to protect the planet and shape a more sustainable, inclusive future.

Enhancing CSR Impact through Collaboration with MARPU Foundation
What’s to Read:
Integration of CSR Goals with respect to corporate giants SDGs.
How MARPU impacts these strategies?
Partnering with MARPU.
MARPU’s SDG Initiatives.
Integration of CSR Goals with respect to corporate giants SDGs:
In today’s world, the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become more crucial than ever. Companies worldwide are acknowledging their role in promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and realizing that their responsibilities extend beyond just shareholders to encompass communities and the environment. Integrating CSR initiatives into business operations can create shared value, benefiting society. However, the true impact of CSR can only be unraveled via strategic partnerships with organizations that bear the passion and resources toward leading change in a sustainable way.
How MARPU impacts these strategies?
Tumblr media
The SDGs provide a universal framework through which businesses can structure their CSR strategies. But setting specific targets also helps big corporations make a dent in broader, global efforts while enhancing their reputation and social impact. MARPU Foundation, with its work by way of provisioning clean water in rural communities, manifests this best. Their initiatives are detailed into SDG 6: ensuring clean water and sanitation.
In today’s digitally driven society, the use of new technologies can develop volunteering activities to their fullest potential in both efficiency and reach. Technology also enables the broadening of the volunteer base through remote volunteering by opening opportunities for people to participate regardless of where they may be located, thus aiding companies in engaging diverse individuals.
Therefore, overlaps between the values and goals of the corporation and the NGO are a must for the strategic partnerships to work. A notable example is the collaboration between a tech giant and the MARPU Foundation to promote digital literacy.
One of the major attributes the MARPU Foundation employs in establishing the impact of its programs is quantitative and qualitative measurement of data. Likewise, corporations must adopt strong analytics to capture direct and indirect results for their CSR interventions.
Partnering with MARPU:
CSR “CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY”:
Unleash Positive Change: Adopt a Project
Powerful Impact with Corporate Donations
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT:
Volunteerism: A New Chapter in Employee Engagement
Payroll Giving: Empowerment through Generosity
BRAND DEVELOPMENT:
Event Sponsorships: Merge Visibility with Impact
Donation Boxes: Simple Giving, Significant Impact
Cause-Related Marketing: Where Business Meets Compassion
MARPU’s SDG Initiatives:
The MARPU Foundation adheres to their work theme of supporting the SDGs:
– Environmental Sustainability:
1.     SDG6(Clean Water and Sanitation)
2.     SDG7(Affordable and Clean Energy)
3.     SDG11(Sustainable Cities and Communities)
4.     SDG12(Responsible Consumption and Production)
5.     SDG13(Climate Action)
6.     SDG14 &SDG15(Life below Water & Life on Land)
– Economic Development:
1.     SDG1 & SDG2(NO Poverty & Zero Hunger)
2.     SDG8(Decent Work and Economic Growth)
3.     SDG9(Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure)
4.     SDG10(Reduced Inequalities)
– Social Development:
1.     SDG3(Good Health and Well-being)
2.     SDG4(Quality Education)
3.     SDG5 (Gender Equality)
– Partnership for Goals:
1.     SDG17

DEEP. For the last few months, our AGLANTIS team has been hard at work pivoting from our initial prototype of removing plastics from rivers which you may have seen at the ASEAN-China New Smart City Innovation Competition at SCAPE and #HyperHack by Temasek, to focus on a more serious #climatechange and #foodsecurity threat. Something closer to home, especially during this COVID crisis. Stay tuned in the coming months as we develop our #deeptech further to go into the Deep, and secure our oceans better! Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate Action
Excellence in Climate Action and Sustainable Innovation Award
Mark Sultan Gersava
Mark Sultan Gersava has emerged as a pioneering force in sustainable innovation, transforming his humble beginnings into a powerful legacy of environmental leadership and social entrepreneurship. Raised in a family of slash-and-burn farmers in one of the poorest and conflict-affected provinces of Sultan Kudarat, Mark's journey from poverty to international acclaim is nothing short of inspirational. Known affectionately as the “Chief Executive Farmer,” he has leveraged his early experiences to fuel a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and economic empowerment.
As the Founder of BAMBUHAY, a pioneering ClimateTech social enterprise, Mark has championed the circular economy by harnessing the power of bamboo and indigenous technologies to create eco-friendly products that address pressing global issues—plastic pollution, deforestation, conflict, and poverty. His visionary enterprise not only revolutionizes sustainable production but also uplifts local communities by creating jobs and promoting regenerative practices that restore natural resources.
Mark’s extraordinary achievements have earned him numerous prestigious accolades, including being named one of the Leader in Innovation Fellows by the Royal Academy of Engineering—the United Kingdom’s national academy of engineering—and recognition as one of the Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines. His entrepreneurial acumen has been further validated by awards such as Entrepreneur of the Year, Impact Entrepreneur of the Year, and Startupper of the Year in Paris, France, as well as the National Award for Community Service. In a historic milestone, he became the first Filipino nominated to the Earthshot Prize, the most prestigious environmental honor on the planet.
Mark’s influence extends beyond the private sector. Appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the youngest Executive Member of the National Innovation Council, he now plays a pivotal role in shaping national policies on innovation and development. His appointment reflects the trust placed in him to drive systemic change and promote a future where sustainable practices underpin economic growth and social progress.
Through BAMBUHAY, Mark has proven that sustainable innovation is not only possible but also essential for a resilient future. By championing the use of renewable resources and environmentally responsible technologies, he demonstrates how business can be a transformative force for good—driving economic development while preserving the planet for future generations.
For his outstanding contributions to climate action, sustainable innovation, and his unwavering commitment to using business as a catalyst for positive change, Mark Sultan Gersava is honored with the Excellence in Climate Action and Sustainable Innovation Award—a true testament to his vision, resilience, and the transformative impact of his work.
