you could be the one that could mess me up; you could be the one that'll break me down
pairing: dexter morgan x f!reader
warnings: fluff, college!au, summer camp!au, rivalry
summary: what’s tougher: coaching science-crazed kids or competing with Dexter for the camp championship?
w/c: like 3k
a/n: a little something for my fellow Dexter fans
The sun was beating down on the field, and you were already starting to regret not grabbing your water bottle. Your team of elementary schoolers was bouncing around you like they’d been given espresso shots instead of juice boxes, their energy sky-high for the last day of camp. And who could blame them? Today was the big showdown – the ultimate battle between Team A and Team B. Your team, obviously, was Team A which, you reminded them every chance you got, was the first letter of the alphabet for a reason.
You scanned the field, making sure everyone had their places, when you saw a stray kickball, sitting just past the starting line. You sighed. As much as you loved your kids, “picking up after themselves” was an elusive skill for most of them. You told them to hold tight for a second and jogged over to retrieve it.
Just as you were about to grab the ball, you saw Dexter walking up beside you, giving you that unreadable look, as usual. You smirked before he even had a chance to speak.
“Well, if it isn’t the illustrious Team B leader himself,” you said, bending down to pick up the ball. “Here to observe greatness in action?” you asked with a proud smile on your face.
Dexter didn’t miss a beat, casually handing you a bottle of water and raising an eyebrow. “Greatness? I think you’re setting them up for disappointment.”
“Oh, really?” you grinned, turning to face him as you spun the ball between your pointer fingers before resting it on your hip and taking the water. “Coming from the guy whose team spent ten minutes building an egg drop contraption that looked like a rejected spaceship model?”
Dexter’s face didn’t change, but you could see the spark of amusement in his eyes. He took the smallest step forward, as if to intimidate you. “That ‘rejected spaceship model’ actually worked, if you remember correctly,” he replied smoothly. “Unlike some teams’ eggs, which ended up looking like scrambled breakfast.”
He was right, of course. His egg drop design looked like it had come from an old sci-fi movie, a quirky contraption with beams, paddings, and an absurd amount of plastic wrap. You had no idea where he got all that, either way, it worked.
It wasn’t even surprising; Dexter had always taken unexpected routes to solve problems. His mind just worked differently. You knew he had a wild imagination; you could tell when he’d shown you some of his high school lab projects, each one stranger and more intricate than the last, and always with that unmistakable Dexter touch that landed him at the top of the class every time. Even now in college, he was still securing the highest grades, beating out students who had twice the resources and flashy internships.
Honestly, Dexter was probably the smartest person you knew, and being able to go toe-to-toe with him here at camp wasn’t just a thrill – it was an honor.
It was part of what made this science camp so special. It wasn’t just some neighborhood summer program; it was hosted by your college’s STEM department, high-level experience for kids that were intrigued by the world of science. Or even those who were just curious about the basic laws of nature ruling our world. The camp was selective about who it chose to lead, and the program heads always made sure to match top students with the best opportunities.
You knew Dexter had signed up for the challenge partly because he’d mentioned wanting to “quit an old habit” and keep himself busy during summer. He hadn’t told you much beyond that – just something vague about needing to break a pattern, occupy his time in a way that felt constructive. This camp, with its structure, routine and purpose was a way for him to do that.
And then, there was the way he was around kids. Despite his reserved nature, he seemed at ease with them, almost unguarded. Dexter seemed different, and only a few people got to experience this side of him. He once joked to you that kids’ brains were underdeveloped enough that he didn’t have to fake emotions or second-guess his reactions around them.
But right now, there was a different Dexter in front of you – not a soft Dexter, not a reserved Dexter. There was a smirking, overly confident camp leader Dexter who thought he could take you down. You hated that he felt comfortable enough to be this cocky towards you. So no, you weren’t about to let your admiration show. You'd have enough time to let yourself sneak a few appreciative glances at him when he wasn’t looking, but right here, with the competition about to continue? You weren’t going to let him talk you down.
You stepped closer too, having to crane your neck a little to keep eye contact. “Don’t worry. My team and I have an actual strategy. Not just a bunch of science facts thrown together like a five-paragraph essay.”
He snorted, his eyebrows rising. “It’s a science camp. Facts are kind of the point. Your strategy is taking the name Team A and thinking that it will actually secure you the first place.”
You scoffed and turned around, walking towards your team and Dexter was quick to follow you.
“First letter, first place. It’s called manifestation. It’s like destiny. We’re literally setting ourselves up for success from the start.”
He shook his head with a little laugh. “You realize it’s just a letter, right? It doesn’t have, like, mystical powers or anything.”
You couldn’t help but cackle, his words making you stop again and some of the smaller heads turn in your direction, silently watching the respected leaders of the science camp bicker. He was unbelievable.
“Please, you’re just pissed that I called it first.”
Despite Dexter being stoic and unpopular among his peers, he was good with kids, and you were aware of that. He was a lab geek to everyone, even his fellow students who majored in science too -- everyone was supposed to be a lab geek! - But most didn’t know that he was actually very creative. You knew that and this was just bitterness talking.
“It’s the first thing people see, the first letter people think of. It exudes victory. Doesn’t Team B just sound… second-rate by comparison?”
He gave you a deadpan look, which only made you want to argue for your team more.
“Team B,” he said, with an exaggeratedly thoughtful expression, “actually stands for best. Maybe even better. I wouldn’t be so quick to assume we’re coming in second.”
You shook your head and bit your cheek, contemplating your next words. You brought the ball that was on your hip to his chest, slightly pushing him with it, but he didn’t budge. He just took it as he waited for your next remark.
“My Team A kids are about to wipe the floor with your Team Better.”
He chuckled and threw the ball into the air before catching it. “We’ll see about that,” he said, eyes glinting with that calm confidence that always got under your skin.
You turned to your group again, arms stretched for emphasis. “See? He’s already trying to play mind games because he knows Team A is unstoppable!”
The kids cheered, and you looked back at Dexter, who was fighting a grin.
“Careful,” he said, “I’d hate to see you go down after all that talk.”
You leaned closer, and you saw his eyelids flutter, finally a sign of weakness.
“And I’d hate to see you hand over those first-place prizes with that smug look wiped off your face.”
You found yourselves in a silent, smirking standoff. His lips curved ever so slightly, daring you to say something more. The corners of your mouth tugged upward in response. You weren't backing down, and neither was he, testing each other, seeing who would blink first. You let your eyes drop just briefly, enough to catch the flutter of his lashes, but a voice from behind cut through the haze, breaking the moment like a splash of cold water.
“You’re going down, Mr. Dexter!”
You both turned toward your team, seeing one of the more spirited girls in your group, Sarah, giving Dexter a withering stare.
You crossed your arms, looking at Dexter. “See? You’ve gotta inspire these kids, Dexter. Get them excited! Pumped!” you slapped his triceps as if to emphasize your point, and he side-eyed you. “No wonder Team B’s lagging behind,” you switched your expression to an exaggerated pity, sighing and shaking your head.
“Alright,” he murmured, your trash talking finally getting to him. “I gotta go. I have to tell my team about Team A’s lack of structural integrity and how we’re going to crush them in the obstacle course.”
You gave him a taunting smile, before he walked away.
“And thanks for the water!” you lifted the bottle in the air and he turned, nodding at you with a genuine smile. Before he headed to his kids, he made a stop where your team was hanging. Despite him being the leader of the opposing team, instead of being intimidated or intimidating, the kids smiled at him, some of them running up to him and showing him a bug they just found in the grass.
You watched him stop right in front of Sarah, crouching down to her eye level with an inquisitive look. “Did I just hear you say I’m going down?”
She shifted her feet, but held her ground, her cheeks red. Kind of like you when you first met him. “Well…yeah!” she crossed her arms, mustering her bravest face. Honestly, you couldn’t be prouder. “We’re Team A, so we’re winning this competition – duh! Plus, we have Ms. YN, and you don’t!”
“Point taken, Sarah,” he said with a chuckle. “I think you’re ready to start a motivational business someday.” The kids giggled, including Sarah who had a proud smile on her face. Dexter raised his eyebrows expectantly, offering his hand to Sarah. “May the best team win, then.”
She shook his hand and with one last look to you, he left. You made your way to your team and gave Sarah and some other kids high-five.
“Did you see his face, Ms. YN? He knows we’re gonna win!”
You laughed, nodding. “Oh, he definitely knows. Let’s make sure he remembers it.”
You sat in your chair and watched your kids, dressed in their teams’ tie-dyed orange t-shirts as some of them were clutching their juice boxes trying the slurp up the last drop, some were still playing with their DIY space shuttles from the NASA day, and some were playing tag or patty cake with each other.
It had been a great few weeks and you couldn't believe the camp was almost over. It was always hard for you to say goodbye. Some of the kids came back every year and you were happy to see their faces. Of course, there is a few bad eggs, but the overall experience was always amazing. And even though it might have not seemed that way, you enjoyed sharing that experience with Dexter, who was one of the smartest people you knew.
You turned around, looking in the direction of his team, watching him sitting on the ground, stealing Franklin’s hat, exposing the boy’s ruffled hair as Dexter put it on his own head, the hat obviously too small for him. Franklin tried to get it back, reaching for it, but Dexter quickly snatched it away and held it out of his reach, making the boy crawl over him as he laughed hysterically.
Your heart fluttered at the sight, but you shook it off, turning back to your team and making a regular head count.
The rest of the afternoon flew by as the competition heated up. Your team was cheering like maniacs after each round, pumping each other up with a team spirit that only a summer camp could create.
Next up was a chemistry challenge, where each team had to mix different chemicals to create a specific color in their beakers. Your team surged ahead, mixing the combination quickly, while Dexter’s team carefully measured out each drop.
“Come on, Team A! Don’t let Team B show us up!” you encouraged, but your team’s rush and Dexter’s team’s focus worked in his favor, adding a few point to his part of the scoreboard.
As the afternoon wore on, the two groups moved from one challenge to the next, each victory and loss met with cheers and groans. Finally, the last event arrived: the biology obstacle course. The campers were buzzing with excitement, and you could barely contain your grin as you glanced across the field at Dexter. The score was pretty much tied, and it all came down to this.
“Alright, A’s,” you said, crouching down to your group’s level. “This is it. Remember to have fun, and let’s give it everything we’ve got.”
The obstacle course was a test of agility and knowledge. Each camper had to climb through a “jungle” of hanging ropes, identify plastic animal replicas hidden among the trees, and finish by sprinting to the finish line with a “baby bird” (a rubber ball) in a spoon.
Your team went first, charging through the course with surprising speed. Dexter was impressed but kept his expression neutral. His campers were determined to outdo them, each one putting in their best effort as they charged through the course, cheered on by Dexter’s calm, steady encouragement.
When the final camper crossed the finish line, you and Dexter called your teams together to tally up the points. The competition had been so close that neither group was sure who had won.
“Alright,” Dexter said, reading off the scorecard. “And the winner is…” he paused, dramatically prolonging the suspense, while you shot him an exaggerated look of impatience.
“Team A!” he announced, unable to keep from smiling as your team erupted in cheers. He felt bad for his team, but a flicker of pride rose in his chest as he watched you celebrate with your kids, hugging a few of the campers. You shot Dexter a smug, triumphant look, mouthing “I told you so.”
The losing team received consolation prizes – a handful of science-themed chocolate bars and some novelty key chains shaped like tiny beakers and DNA strands. The kids took it all in stride, laughing and goofing off as they filed back to their cabins, waving at you and Dexter as they disappeared down the paths.
You and Dexter began gathering up the supplies left over from the relay race. Every so often, you’d bump shoulders or catch each other’s eyes and share a smile.
As the last of the campers drifted out of view, you took a long breath, letting it out slowly as the day’s exhaustion sank into your muscles. You stretched your arms overhead, feeling that familiar soreness, and smiled as you glanced over at him.
“Guess that makes me the science camp champion, huh?”
Dexter chuckled softly, his eyes glinting with amusement. “For this year, maybe. Next year, though, don’t get too comfortable.”
You laughed, feeling a spark of joy as you realized, yes, you would look forward to next year – another summer with him, another chance to see this side of him. You were alone by now, perched on the steps of the main cabin where the camp leaders, cooks, and cleaners stayed during camp sessions. You leaned back, savoring the quiet, the fading light of the day casting a soft glow over the campgrounds.
Dexter sat down beside you, resting his elbows on his knees as he gazed out at the now-quiet field, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed hard. After a moment, you scooted closer, letting your chin dig into his shoulder. Gently, you threaded your arm through his, reaching for his hand and giving it a small squeeze. He looked down, his expression softening as he turned to you, and suddenly you were so close your noses were almost touching, the fading sunlight casting shadows over his features and catching on the ginger stubble along his jawline.
“Same time, same place?” you murmured, your voice low and quiet.
Dexter didn’t answer – not with words, anyway. Instead, he lifted a hand to brush away the baby hair from your forehead before closing the space between you, his lips meeting yours in a soft, lingering kiss.
You always made his heart beat so fast, he didn’t know how it hadn't burst already. You were one of two things that made him feel this way and it was a perfect balance of light and darkness.
His stubble scratched lightly against your skin, a slight irritation that you secretly loved. It made you smile against his lips, feeling a familiar thrill rush through you.
You remember teasing him about it early on in your relationship, only for him to take it too literally and show up the next day, clean-shaven. You’d laughed, explaining that it was just a joke, and that you loved his rough edges. It made you love him more, it was just so Dexter.
Since then, he’d kept his natural look, but sometimes, you’d see that flicker of hesitation, trying to understand the meaning behind your words and actions. It reminded you how hard he tried to learn the language of affection, your love language, and you tried to learn and understand his. It put you into perfect synchrony.
He leaned into the kiss with more force before pulling away and letting his forehead rest against yours, noses brushing as he lingered there, his hand still holding yours as you drew circles on his skin with your thumb.
“Wouldn’t miss it,” he replied, his usual calm and stoic replaced by a rare warmth as he looked at you.
You smiled and kissed his shoulder before resting your head against it, letting your eyes close for just a moment.
“It’s so quiet.” you sighed, enjoying the peaceful moment. That’s something you'd missed. Even though you loved the camp, you weren't really a fan of chaos, and this? Having the moment to breathe in the warm scent of pine trees, to hear the birds singing and crickets chirping and to be in Dexter’s embrace is like a reward.
“Funny you’d say that, considering how much noise you make.” He glanced down at you, raising his eyebrows. “Half the chaos around here has been you cheering your team to victory.”
You scoffed, too tired to put up a fight this time. “I’m just an enthusiastic leader.”
“Oh, I know,” he said, a hint of smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “You’re definitely enthusiastic. I’m pretty sure you broke the sound barrier.”
You poked him in the ribs, and he genuinely laughed. A sound that you appreciated greatly, because you were one of the few people that got to hear it. As his laughter faded, he leaned in and pressed his lips softly to the crown of your head.
You watched the sun dip lower, your heart full as you let yourself drift into the soft, steady rhythm of his breathing.
a/n2: thanks for making it this far! soo, what do we think? i'll appreciate any kind of feedback! also, i'd love to explore this relationship more, so maybe we'll see these two again!

"With No One Left For Me"
first Murder Drones fic let's goooo BASED ON THE SCENE AFTER UZI TRIED TO SAVE N AND SACRIFICE HERSELF AND FOR A FEW MINUTES N PROBABLY WOULD'VE THOUGHT THAT HE JUST LOST LITERALLY EVERYONE :( happy ending tho obvs
AO3 version
“Hey. Thanks for, like, everything.”
The way she’d smiled so sadly at him.
“UZI, DON’T YOU DARE!” N had shouted, immediately understanding what she was going to do.
She’d done it anyway. He shouldn’t have been surprised. Uzi had always been a rebel, but that knowledge hadn’t made this particular instance hurt any less.
The image of her leaping over the massive pit, throwing the keys to the spaceship at him, flashing one last symbol across her visor— “DIE MAD” — before using her Solver to push him far away from the pit, straight out the door of the cathedral… was stuck behind his eyes.
Still lying flat on his back across the stone stairs outside, N stared up at the clouded sky in a hollow state of shock.
She’d always been a rebel.
Even in… death.
He shook his head and sat up, fighting to control his breathing. This couldn’t be the end. He couldn’t just believe that.
Because if he did… that would be it. He’d be alone. Completely.
V was gone. Even if he no longer had feelings for her, she was still his childhood best friend and he would’ve always cared deeply for her. But she was gone. Taken down by the Sentinels, like so many of the other Disassembly Drones.
He’d thought he had Tessa again, the closest thing he had to a mother figure. He’d made the hard choice to kill her when she’d gone too far in threatening and hurting Uzi. The Tessa he remembered would’ve never done that.
Except that hadn’t even been Tessa. Just her corpse, being puppeteered by someone that he’d once seen as a little sister. Someone who was now not at all his sister; someone who was now out to kill them all, just because she could.
And then there was Uzi.
The feelings that stirred whenever he’d been with her over the last couple weeks were familiar but strange, yet he’d embraced them. He didn’t know when it started. He just knew that being with her made things easier. Fun, even, in the midst of the horror world they’d been living in. Being with her brought an easy smile to his face. Watching her storm around in all her over-the-top edginess, only to soften and light up whenever she saw him, warmed him on the inside.
Everything had been scary and confusing, especially when “Tessa” had tried to tell him that they would have to kill Uzi, to protect the rest of the planet from her Solver virus. That had stirred a fear that he hadn’t been ready for. The fear of losing her in all this mess.
He'd refused to hurt her. He just couldn’t. She was too special to him. Too precious. There had to be a way to cure her.
But here they were. She’d saved him and sacrificed herself. For all he knew, she was gone. And he was alone.
Very. Very. Alone.
N stood up, wobbling a little on his feet, panting. He studied the open doors again, then gritted his teeth and extended his wings. With a quick burst of determination, desperation, vain hope, whatever it was, he started to launch himself back inside to find her—
Then everything exploded.
N didn’t know how else to describe what happened. Light split the floor all around him, and before he’d gotten a chance to process that, he was thrown far, far, far up into the sky with a surprised shriek as the air filled with a huge BOOM that quickly quieted the higher he got.
His sensors went offline for a few minutes, but when he’d regained awareness, he was floating in space. Surrounded by floating rocks. Enormous pieces of Copper 9 were hovering in a broken sphere around the exposed core.
Oh. The core had exploded again.
Just like Earth. Just like the other exoplanets.
Okay, then.
Still determined, still refusing to give up hope, N spread his wings again and started trying to swim his way through the space void. He would search through every bit of the floating wreckage if it meant finding Uzi again.
As far as he knew, she was the only one left that could possibly still be alive.
Fortunately, he came across “Tessa” and J’s spaceship first. Quickly he climbed inside, then let his programming take over as he started up the ship with the keys Uzi had tossed at him. She’d meant for him to use them to get away, definitely, but he would not leave without her.
As he expertly navigated the ship through the drifting wreckage, N kept a careful eye on the screens displaying what was around the outside the ship. Searching desperately for any glimpse of purple, or a Solver symbol that wasn’t yellow, anything.
Please still be here. Please still be alive. Please don’t leave me.
I need you.
Then, like a reply from the heavens, he saw her, and a huge smile spread across his face. She was sitting on a rock up ahead. He couldn’t see what she was doing, but she was alive; it was definitely her. He’d found her.
She was okay.
Everything else switched to tunnel vision as he excitedly sped up the ship, trying to catch up to her. The ship wouldn’t be able to slow down easily with the lack of air friction out here in space, so his best bet would be to just fly the ship straight into her. He could pull her inside afterwards. He knew she would be fine.
Uzi freaked out and threw a wrench at him initially, exclaiming that her mom had been back there, but when he apologized in a panic and started scrambling to turn the ship around, she simply stomped closer and threw her arms around him, burying her face against his shoulder.
“You were supposed to get away,” she mumbled, almost in a pout, hugging him tighter. Her expression was out of sight, and he figured that was how she wanted it to be.
“Yeah—” N frowned for a moment, not genuinely angry, but still rattled from earlier. “I’m kind of, like, actually mad about what you did,” he informed her, crossing his arms. “But, we can talk lateeEEERRRR!”
His words were interrupted by a mad scramble to navigate the ship through more wreckage and debris without crashing, but the sentiment stood. Those minutes of being alone, thinking he could’ve been alone for the rest of his life, had been legitimately terrifying and painful.
But he’d never been so glad to have been wrong. Uzi was alive, and she was here with him. His life had been a terrifying spiral, especially in the past couple weeks as the truth about everything had slowly unfolded. He didn’t know what lay ahead, with Cyn trying to destroy everything. But he hadn’t lost everyone.
Uzi was the most precious person to him in his life. She was all he had left, but despite it all, she was more than enough.
Whatever lay ahead, they would face it together. Just like always.

Instead of doing a lot of posts about it, I'm just gonna resume all I liked and disliked about episode 6 last night:
Pros:
The scene where ellie burns her arm was good and reminded me of the amount of fics I've read about it.
The cake scene was funny and very ellie. The way Joel found it amusing was extremely adorable. Also the way they they humanized seth this season it was a cool touch.
The fact that he built her guitar instead of seeing it somewhere and remembering of her was a very joel thing, since he canonically builds guitars.
The scene with the birds and bees was funny specially when the old man flinched when ellie made it more scandalous. He really is an old man.
The scene where she closes her eyes inside of the spaceship made me cry like a baby. And that's coming from someone who didn't even cried when joel went to play golf with God on episode 2.
The scene with Eugene and later with gail was a nice touch, specially when ellie starts to see a pattern of behavior in Joel and how easily he lies to people (and consequently comparing this to Salt Lake).
The fact that they made him die on New Year's morning was heartbreaking. When he said to tommy "see you next year" made me speechless for a second.
I liked that they made him curious of Ellie's tattoo enough to talk to gail about it.
He said he loves her with all these specific words. And I felt so bad when he said that he would pay for what he did just knowing that she be distant with him. Pedro Pascal is an amazing actor.
Cons/Things that got me confused:
•Me waiting for the rocket pin scene so I could show to the person beside me that I also had that pin:🤡. Honestly I don't even know why they they took this detail away when it would only last less than 10 seconds. The entire birthday scene felt rushed af but I was very understanding of why, but the pin was a would be the cherry on top.
•I don't really like the way Joel found out she had a tattoo. When he caught her with cat and emphasized "[having sex] with girls??" made him sound homophobic, like oh so with boys would be no problem to him then. Joel is probably ellie's number one Ally, so the way that line existed and was delivered was odd.
•Okay, so, as the 17-year-old ellie flahsback ended and it didn't showed to us her finding out made me frown at my TV for a good amount of seconds trying to understand, and then the 19-year-old ellie period started and I was like "wait what? Oh so she's gonna find out now in this patrol?" and was already thinking that, unlike games, she was going to oficially stop talking to him only for some months.
•And then they surprised me again and she only made him come clean with the truth the night before he died, and the feelings I have about it are... complicated. Because first of all, as much as the 2 years (and a half) period of time game!ellie doesn't talk to him is cruel and soul-crushing to us, that was what made the game even more dramatic and ellie's revenge/guilt arc even more painful. Show!Ellie didn't have the courage to face the truth all these years, and even tho it's mentioned she was not very in touch with him anymore on those months after Eugene's death, It still doesn't have the same weight that this lore between her and him had canonically. At the end of the second game we felt the guilt she had for not talking with that man for 2 entire years when he was always there, but in the show ellie doesn't even have reason to be that guilty anymore. Unlike the games where her resentment was exaggerated and became pride (which even she is ashamed of later), in the show she had a very proportional reaction to her reasons to be mad.
•And then she forgave him the same night he admitted to having done what she most feared that happened, and that was the end for me honestly. It felt forced, rushed, and honestly I don't even wanna hear show fans cry about how sad their lore was because HBO was very kind to you guys. I had already made a post about how weird it was for Ellie to scream at the top of her lungs that she is immune on patrol and how it made it look like she is even proud of being immune, but honestly after they changed the whole timeline of the Lie Lore for... that, I'm now even more firm on the thought that the whole deal with the immunity and the lie are not that painful and important to Ellie in the show.
•Now jokes on me🤡 I was so confident they wouldn't change anything crucial on this adaptation and got fooled, now I won't even be surprised if Dina's baby turns to be a girl instead of a boy.

So @dryramengurl , I heard you wanted some…headcanons for sgrb correct?…
Well BOY oh boy, I made this dish perfectly for you!
SHINY headcanons:
Shiny has once wore braces before because one of the co-workers mistook his gap as a dental problem(even though he can’t physically grow teeth’s)
Shiny has bitten thunder too many times when they both fight each other which resulted him wearing a cone to avoid biting him again.
Just like in one of the concept art, shiny’s eyes changes colors when he’s in a mood.
Shiny has an excellent method to using his “puppy eyes” to actually win over people(this doesn’t work for creed that very much, but this work effectively to Thunder very much)
THUNDER headcanons:
Thunder hides a secret among the edf and no has ever found out, and the secrets were at morning(which were 1 or 3am)he would sneak out on top of the base just to watch a romance show/movie and maybe the toru inoue or Chiikawa show(that could explain why he’s always win over by shiny’s puppy eyes) can’t blame him for liking cute/romantic stuff
Since shiny has claustrophobia, Thunder hid a secret that he has thalassophobia because he fear he wouldn’t get saved in time
Thunder once got his body(except for his head)under a cat-like Kaiju and when shiny tried to help, thunder refused to get pulled out from under there since he finds it comfortable
When Thunder tries to swear, it would get bleep/censor because of a system that was put in him
Even though when thunder said “robots don’t have health symptoms” he suffers from fatigue and this is a problem to shiny having to save him a lot of times from getting swooped or damaged by a Kaiju because of his drowsiness
ALEX headcanons:
Alex has a figure of shiny and thunder being surrounded by magical girls, kajius, and other robot figures on the shelf in her room
In her room she has a box of plushies but squishy is the only plush on her which makes it her “special one”
(Astra included here) since Alex knows that Astra is a magical girl bot, this makes Astra accepted to the EDF just so that she could ask many questions to her.
I thinks that’s all, hope you likes food
UR WELCOME⭐️ *jumps in a spaceship to fly back the my home planet*

Friends at the Table is a podcast focused on critical worldbuilding, smart characterization, fun interaction between good friends, and asking "what if X was Y? what if W could do Z?"
anyways here's a non-comprehensive selection of some times FatT asked good hypotheticals
(spoilers for Autumn in Heiron, Marielda, Winter in Heiron, COUNTER/Weight, Twilight Mirage, Sangfielle, and some Bluff City i think) (i know Spring, Partizan, and Palisade must also have good "what if X was Y?" but i'm still catching up) (this got way long so i'm putting it behind a readmore) (shoutout to Search at the Table at https://curiosity.cat-girl.gay/ for letting me do this) (also to Transcripts at the Table for writing this all down in the first place)
KEITH: What if I was a snow...hawk… ART: What if you're like, a Dr. Seuss animal? KEITH: Yeah! What if I was a star-bellied sneetch?
KEITH: (laughing) What if the bird was a can opener!
AUSTIN (as Zaktrak): It's like, what if a, what if a factory or train or a windmill could read a book?
AUSTIN (CONT.): And then he, he looks up, he actually has like a very… his build is kind of like, angular and… not thin in terms of like, weak? But he has a sort of… androgynous character about him, in terms of his like, what you would think of as like his body structure. And… very beautiful blue eyes. He’s sort of like, what if David Bowie was super black.
AUSTIN: And that's kind of like, the picture you get of her, is like, What if Fero was like, 30% less hyperactive? Still way more hyperactive than everybody else in-- the world? (laughter) but like, just a little more in tune, with the world.
AUSTIN: What if fire was matte?
ART: What if a—what if a 90s after school special needed some graffiti
AUSTIN: Yeah. He asks you, um... watching what unfolds, and there's, there's, it's--and this is the fuckin' nerdiest thing I'm ever gonna say; it's like what if A-ha's Take On Me was an AMV? Was an anime music video?
AUSTIN: Ali’s character, how did she describe her character, “what if Han Solo used to be Beyonce?”
AUSTIN: It’s like, what if the American government was just another American company?
AUSTIN: It’s like what if holograms did gifs, basically?
ART: You how like Han Solo’s always talking to the Millenium Falcon, but what if the Millenium Falcon-- AUSTIN: Could talk back? ART: Had a chance of, yeah, of deciding he was angry.
SYLVIA: For example. Like just p - yeah, what if they have psychic assassins there. Oh! What if this planet’s an alien? What if this planet is a psychic assassin? Which is a great sentence I just said.
AUSTIN: Yeah, I should note that this is also like "What if the Super Bowl was attended by high fashion models?", right?
AUSTIN: We don’t get a lot of elderly non-binary people. And so Saint Auger is like, what if someone you knew from Portland was 82?
AUSTIN: It’s almost like, what if a crown could be a dunce cap?
AUSTIN: It's like- what if there was a really enterprising twelve year old, who like, [laughs] made a physiology- uh, person- a physiology like, model, but with dirt and rocks and sticks. Also there's no face, the face is also just one of this solid black rock plates.
AUSTIN: And again, there’s just light streaming in through—I think this room is mostly, like, does not have a huge window, but it does have little eyelet windows at the top of the, towards the ceiling, that run horizontally along the room, and just like, bright—it’s almost like, what if colour could be shadow? Do you know what I mean? Like, what if instead of it being that a shadow crosses your face, it is this prismatic glow that moves across the group of you as this thing crawls around this space station.
AUSTIN: It’s like white and blue, there are stars, it- you know, I think that the- it’s, it looks like the way you might imagine like, what if the UN had spaceships?
AUSTIN: What if you mixed your- your selfhood, with the notion of wings. Or the notion of flight. Not just flying. That’s where we’re going.
AUSTIN: This giant battleship that’s like ‘what if a millipede instead of legs had guns and what if it was all around it’?
AUSTIN: This thing is like the size of like a major city. This thing is like, what if Manhattan was a battleship. And instead of buildings it had guns. Except now they’re made of weird black glass.
AUSTIN: The first time he showed up I described him as what if Canderous Ordo decided to have a robot body one day? And slowly began to replace it.
AUSTIN: There’s a little— Yes, it’s like what if a cow— what if Christian Slater was playing a cowboy from New Jersey, and also was Canderous Ordo. And also he eats through his hands.
AUSTIN: There is just this like… I think it’s just metal unfolding across space. Like, at some point Volition just kind of spat out a, a, almost, it looks like a cloud of ink but instead of ink, it’s metal. And it’s just unfolding indefinitely in space like a huge— like what if Akira, what if at the end of Akira when Tetsuo turns into a weird flesh monster? It was that but various types of metal, just like bubbling all over the place throughout space, and I don’t know how you deal with that! But suddenly in the middle of the Mirage there is just this, this ink splatter, this, this gaseous, you know, spread of metal.
AUSTIN: And it’s like — again, it’s like a pistol — it’s like what if a pistol was also like a curved sword, like almost like a scimitar or something?
JANINE: What if we do a live show, but the only live show we ever do is at Bakucon?
ART: Um, let me tell you, this is a nice coat, you guys. Um, I think it’s sort of like what if… What if a leather duster jacket was like an ephemeral idea.
AUSTIN: It’s like … I think the way I described it was, what if there was a Companion Cube that could have its corners pulled apart and in the middle is a weird glowing sphere?
AUSTIN: He has this dope, like, “What if the Millenium Falcon was a deep V?” Instead of just that little bit at the top, it goes really deep down. Or like, “What if Pacman was really long?” You know what I mean?
AUSTIN: Okay. You find him like, rolled under the bottom of his, uhh, or like on a, it’s not rolled under, he’s on like a little, like cart that has a pneumatic lift, or it’s like, it’s like a, it’s like a robot that walks around. It has like- it’s like a Boston Dynamics- like what if a Boston Dynamics, like four-legged robot was also a thing you laid on top of? Like one of those carts that goes underneath a car, to repair it. You know what I’m talking about?
AUSTIN (as Morning’s Observation): [exhales thoughtfully] Like what if milk was a solid.
AUSTIN: But it still has that ribbony-quality? [chuckles] It still has the sound of fabric rubbing on fabric? But is definitely amplified a great deal, probably? And also, we know it’s sharp, so there’s probably some… sharpness to it? You know… there’s probably, like… what if a ribbon could be a sword you pull out of a sheath?
AUSTIN: And also, Saint Sommer is a big lion man. Saint Sommer is, like… Skein. And is a big… a big… like, a big lion man. Not like Lion-o from Thundercats. Like… what if Scar could… had a big human body? Was, like… What if Scar was cut?
KEITH: And it sort of like, snap! Like, that, it's like… when we were talking about what the sound it makes, I was picturing… what if folding a blanket sounded like sheet metal?
AUSTIN: Yeah, yeah. I don’t know I think it’s like, I think this is very much like, what if the Venom symbiote was made of thread, right?
AUSTIN: So maybe it's like a- like imagine, what if a mop could just mop by itself.
AUSTIN: I won’t talk more about that stuff, but you already saw the big picture of “what if Connecticut was a space ocean,” so, you have at least some context there.
AUSTIN: It’s huge. It’s the size of a continent, right? It’s “What if South America was a big circle?” It’s “What if Europe and Eurasia was a big circle?”, constantly cast on this planet. And, you know, from space it kind of looks—not flat necessarily, right, because it’s a curved planet, it’s a sphere, or spherical, but, you know, it’s flat.
AUSTIN: It’s like what if Texas stood up.
AUSTIN (as Morning’s Observation): “What if cars brought things to you instead of bringing you to things?”
AUSTIN: It’s just like a very bright, colorful—like, what if Steven Universe did the Sailors of the Ark? What if that team did it? It’s very good.
AUSTIN: It’s like what if it’s a can opener that does that. Like a living can opener like. Grrrngaaah! I’m going fucking open holes in things! Grrngaah!
AUSTIN: Imagine that they're almost- in my mind they're like what if a martini shaker was a piston.
AUSTIN: It's like what if you could package a sunset, y'know? Into like a cube
AUSTIN: I can't believe we started this recording by looking at pies [KEITH and DRE laugh] that make me hurt and ended with ‘what if all foods could be jelly juice?’.
AUSTIN: I saw a big buffalo picture and I was like what if that was a person, that looks cool.
ART: But what if some of these skeletons are like, sick of this shit?
AUSTIN: I think I pitched this show as like: what if Ghost in the Shell but-but magic and witches instead of cyborgs and stuff?
JACK: So, out come this nascent organization who we’re calling Shapeknights. Who are -- I think the easiest way to say it is “cowboys for trains?” They are, like -- what if instead of the cowboy riding alongside the train on his horse, he was corralling the train? Or he was trying to understand the train, or was trying to --
ALI: I think Marn, herself is a little bit more like—like what if a capybara was a siamese cat?
KEITH: Yeah. So, I wholeheartedly recommend this movie, but if not, if you don't know what I'm talking about with the goggles, at least look at that. ‘Cause it's a good image. It's sort of like, what if you had a jeweler's loupe that had a jeweler's loupe that had a jeweler's loupe?
ART: It’s like, what if the antagonist won the Mummy movie right, this is what happens-
KEITH: What if instead of one, big, beautiful hat I have two small, beautiful hats?
KEITH: Like what if they made headphones just for being cool at a party?
KEITH: What if you make pizza by opening the box? That it was an empty box until you opened it.
AUSTIN: What if insects were made of teeth?
JACK: She’s the fuckin’ person of the train. She’s like what if a train could output a person.
KEITH: What if the train was a nice train?
ART: What if a Madame Tussauds came to life?
AUSTIN: What if fire could be a ghost?
AUSTIN: Looking through this here, sounds like what you wrote here was “What if a dolphin was like a velociraptor?”
AUSTIN: They’re hitched. Yeah, they've been hitched. Three of them have been hitched. And I said horse, but I want you to imagine is what if…what if a shrimp were a horse?
JACK: You sort of just like rise up the slope. It's a bit like what if a train was an escalator.
AUSTIN: What if Beyonce was Poison Ivy?
AUSTIN: All my cards on the table, Millennium Black is like what if Blade stopped being a vampire hunter and started being a casino owner.
AUSTIN: He's sort of like what if Alex Jones wasn't terrible

Factorio: Space Age introduces the "quality" system, which you can technically play without, though I'm not sure it's balanced around that. I've now played with it enough that I have some thoughts on it.
First, I think it's kind of stupid that machines cannot naively use mixed-quality materials. It means that if you put a quality module in a single furnace, the lines will get "polluted" by the plates that are produced, and the whole factory will eventually gum up. Ask me how I know. I would vastly have preferred that it not matter: use a rare gear in a belt, and either it has no special benefit, or gives a chance to grant quality or something. But if it did that, I suppose it wouldn't be much of a gameplay challenge.
There are a few other pain points. One of them is that bots and the interface in general do not handle quality very well. Quality is almost always a strict upgrade, so it would be nice if there was a setting I could tick that said "hey, go upgrade things if possible". But instead, the UI and mechanics are such that you need to specify it, and this is super annoying, because it means that I have to manually go do the replacement myself, or have an upgrade planner to upgrade quality, then cancel the job once everything that can be replaced is so that the game will stop giving me an alert. I have accumulators and solar panels set up for quality right now, and I can't immediately think of a way to automate the process of upgrading the solar fields. I'm guessing that mods will help with that eventually. I also definitely want a keybind for "increase quality" and "decrease quality" on a machine, though I guess I never went looking to see whether that was a thing, so maybe it exists and I'm ignorant.
So as I see it, there are three main ways to engage with the mechanics:
Put quality modules in a machine that you're going to craft once and hope to roll high. The advantage is that hey, maybe you'll get lucky, and for stuff that goes in the equipment grid, I think this is sensible to do. Probably also wise for infrastructure, so long as you're fine doing some manual finagling that really should be done with bots.
Put quality modules in (some) machines that make intermediates, then use whatever you skim off the top there to make quality things. This does work, but you have to skim off essentially every single production line, and I think over time you end up with too much of certain things, which kind of sucks. It's one of the things that I've been doing, since it can guarantee the higher quality stuff, and ideally all the stuff in a spaceship and your equipment grid is at highest quality available. (You can also "skim" off anything you're making a shit-ton of for science: electric furnaces and yellow inserters are the two most obvious ones. I do wish this were easier to automate so that at some point you could say "actually, don't do the quality thing anymore". Probably some circuit logic could get you there, but you can't replace modules automatically that I know of.)
Use the recycler to "reroll" quality, making a gear over and over and over until it rolls high and can be separated out. The only issue with this is that it requires the recycler, and also is very expensive, but it does mitigate the randomness in its own way.
There's a secret fourth way that I've been noodling, which is that you could essentially build five separate copies of your base, put quality modules in everything, then if you roll high, send the better materials to the other base. This is insane, which is why I like it. So you would have miners mining with quality, which then gets separated onto five different trains and brought to the smelters, which then turn some fraction into higher quality plates that get sent to the "higher" factories. Those plates go into assemblers, which have a chance of upgrade, and so on, until there are five sets of labs, each of which is working with a different set of quality flasks. But I'm pretty sure that this would have a lot of technical problems, and really risk gumming up, as well as being very space inefficient and resource intensive. Still, might be workable end game, if you could deal with the inevitable overflows and imbalances.
Overall, I like it as a problem to chew on, but I think in practice they made a few decisions that I find annoying. Mods seem like they're fix some of it, like having to manually select upgrades, but the "clogging up the inventory" issue isn't going to go away, and in fact seems like one of the basic things that the mechanic is balanced around. I really appreciate that there are many ways to approach it, and that it creates this tradeoff of "go tall" or "go wide".
I'm very curious to see what people do with it, though I think the "throw vast resources into recycling" approach is probably going to be the dominant one unless there's a great blueprint for handling the overhead. And I'm also curious where public opinion is going to land on it, since it seems like the kind of thing that might end up divisive.

you levi stans always believing that levi is still the most popular aot character. bro was surpassed by season 4 eren and now levi is just completely irrelevant. levi isn’t even iconic any longer. the anime just made him a cold badass and took everything that made him special in the manga away. everyone just thinks he is fan service and is annoyed when he appears in anything now (official arts, bad boy). aot may fade away but the one people will remember is eren and it shows. he is the one with constant interactions, likes, and google searches. honestly pretty sure mikasa tops levi in popularity by now too. levi has fallen from his high perch and turned into an irrelevant worthless loser to the masses. it’s honestly what you levi stans deserve for hating on eren all those years before the time skip.
anyways proof below along with the anime corner poll at the end of the year. https://x.com/justmeight/status/1791195643815637415?s=46&t=opIHY9xYZlEjLmRQ4bbogA
Hey angry warrior,
This is a popularity poll from japan
Listen, hiding behind anonymity like a cockroach under a fridge doesn't exactly make your opinion on Levi sound profound. Maybe if you crawled out from under your rock and signed your name, your critique might hold some weight.
Here you are, complaining about a character you supposedly think is irrelevant, yet you're obsessed enough to write a hate-mail manifesto.
If you think Levi's just a "cold badass" stereotype, then you clearly haven't been paying attention. Maybe actually delve into some character analysis before you try to school others.
scarletskiesinthepaths and cosmicjoke has some good analysis. And I have written some too, and I am linking them too.
people whines about "fan service" with "Bad Boy" yet spout nonsense about Levi's popularity fading. Pick a lane, genius!
Levi fan art annoying people? Honey, the only thing getting annoyed is probably the internet struggling to render all the glorious Levi content.
Levi is Eren's mentor. Let that sink in. The guy you claim is "irrelevant" literally shaped the protagonist you idolize. And guess what? Mentors often fade into thebackground as their students grow. It doesn't diminish their importance, it's simply the natural order of things.
You are overlooking the fact that Levi is the character who is frequently written about in fanfictions within the Attack on Titan fandom.
Levi may have lost some shine in your eyes, but to claim Mikasa dethroned him? Now that's some Grade A delusion. News flash: Popularity contests aren't won by saltyinternet rants.
Popularity contests change faster than your bedsheets, but characters like Levi endure. Most people don't spend their days fuming about fictional characters. Maybe take a shower, touch some grass, and realize the world doesn't revolve around your internet vendettas.broaden your horizons. Look beyond internet hype and explore what truly makes a character compelling. Maybe then you'll understand why Levi remains a fan favorite, his legacy secure long after the fleeting popularity of season 4 fades like a bad spray tan. Until then, keep your uninformed opinions to yourself, and perhaps consider a rewatch of AoT with a more discerning eye.
You clutch that "Levi-is-washed-up" theory like a participation trophy, but the evidence is about as reliable as a toddler's drawing of a spaceship. Let's dissect this "proof" of yours, shall we? Someone tweeted a college of characters they think are iconic? Wow, groundbreaking. Next, you'll be citing crayon scribbles on a bathroom stall as gospel.
You have the right to dislike Levi, but whining about popularity polls is the height of internet fandom tears.
Real criticism goes beyond "your husbando didn't win!"
So ditch the temper tantrum and try constructing an actual argument. Levi might not be your cup of tea, but resorting to popularity contests is just pure embarrassing
Broaden your horizons. Look beyond the surface hype and delve into what makes a character truly captivating. Until you have that epiphany, keep your ill-informed opinions to yourself, and maybe give Attack on Titan another go, this time with an actual brain in tow.

#tristampparty day 7, episode 7: wolfwood
this is another episode i've watched multiple times, but mostly just the first half for Livio Reasons. once again... LET'S GOOOOO
i've seen ppl say this is razlo at the start of the episode... i wonder... he is more razlo-like in his movements, and he starts yelling a lot... but his expressions are still livio-like, i think... i mean he is more expressive BUT he's not grinning like razlo usually does? sigh... see the problem is that we ALSO have a level of EoM brainwashing (and whatever the fuck else is going on) on top of everything which throws a wrench in trying to figure things out. I Just Wanna See My Boy.
i love vash holding his gun backwards and using it as a bludgeon and i love going frame by frame to get cool screencaps like this 💖
wolfwood vial count: 4
at the very least, by the time of this next scene, it's definitely livio and not razlo because he's mumbling about "catching up" again which is a livio thing
when i saw the corresponding manga panel for this my brain neurons activated so hard LOL i wonder even more how orange will adapt razlo... since originally livio was trying to catch up with razlo. which i love and think is super interesting. so what is orange planning? ...is livio even aware razlo exists at this point...?
oh also livio looks a bit older here. which once again has me wondering about the timeline. the way the experiments were presented with rollo and nicholas, it looked like they were just on that table forever. as in there were no breaks in between. so... when is this? how long is it between livio volunteering himself for EoM and the experiments on him taking place?
i think it's cute that nico bumps into him :(
let's take ibuprofen together
i wonder who these people are... i thought they might be the EoM soldiers that razlo killed, but those aren't EoM uniforms... it looks like the prison uniform wolfwood was wearing... wolfwood tried to run away, so it makes sense that he wouldn't be the only one, although the phrasing "stand in our way" more implies they tried to stop the operation altogether. but... hmm... they just had regular goons as guards at the time of wolfwood's escape attempt. livio is special... would they really give him a job like guard duty?
CHAPEL JUMPSCARE
razlo sweetiepie there you are!!! mwah mwah mwah mwah mwah
HE'S SUCH A FUCKING DRAMA QUEEN HE'S SO FUNNY
since zazie is the one talking, our attention is drawn to them, so i'm glad i paused on this because the fact that legato is also looking up at wolfwood and smirking is so funny to me. EYES ON THE ROAD BESTIE!!!!
this line is always so funny to me. shonen protagonist ass
i love the scene of vash at the spaceship controls, the animation when he's working the keyboard is so smooth. hmmm, it also reminds me of wolfwood's introduction episode in 98... serves the same narrative purpose of Vash Knowing Things He Shouldn't about spaceships
i love that wolfwood thinks shooting the base of the cannon will do anything. like that's the first thing he tries. shoot first ask questions later i guess
going frame by frame on scenes of legato because i'm unwell... his eyebrows are surprisingly thick! and his eye color is grey... it was gold in 98... oh, i just noticed his eyelashes are light blue!! cute!!
i just think this is a handsome angle for him. his facial features are so pretty and delicate
this is why he buckled his seatbelt :)
... i need to stop posting legato pictures
no because what the hell is this
wolfwood vial count: 5
episode 5 had me asking about the wind... legato asks zazie if they were the one who caused the sandstorm (which they deny)... could it be... is it possible...?
my dumb ass watching this for the first time: damn it's so sad that livio is dead and now they're even gonna use his corpse for nefarious purposes :(
vash's plant markings are so pretty fr <3 orange was big brained for this too
everyone always points out the episode title card being a gut punch but THIS was an unexpected one:
this is how wolfwood is credited this episode and because i'm insane i immediately had to go back and check - this is also how he's credited in episodes 5 and 6: as "nicholas d. wolfwood/nicholas the punisher". in episode 4, he's only listed as "nicholas d. wolfwood". haha ouch!
this post ended up being a little less substantial than expected LOL but we'll soon be getting into the episodes that really give me psychic damage so :^) looking forward to it!!

Mst3knitathon continues:
96. Episode 911 Devil Fish
Summary: Two sexy marine biologists recruit a sexy paleontologist and a sexy electrician specializing in underwater monitoring equipment to help them track an unknown creature that’s attacking boats, and that they think might be a living prehistoric proto-shark. But the corporate scientists at the nearby genetics lab seem to be hiring local organized crime to keep the creature’s existence undiscovered.
MST3K lore or notable moments: I don’t think there are any? But I imagine some sci-fi-era fans might think the appearance of the dolphin spaceship in a couple of the sketches was noteworthy.
What do I think about its placement on the list? We’ve finally reached an episode that I don’t think belongs on the top 100 list at all. Sure, the monster was pretty nifty looking, and I liked the sketch where Pearl and Bobo put an Italian stereotypes filter over Mike and the bots - it managed to remain making fun of stereotyping instead of veering into making fun of Italians, and I found it charming. But while I’ve definitely seen episodes of the show that were worse than this, Devil Fish still encapsulates a lot of what I don’t always like about the SciFi Channel era of the show: 1) while there are still some good riffs, they rely too much on low-hanging fruit, 2) most of the sketches are kind of meh, and 3) watching Mike and/or the bots try to bully people in the sketches is never actually funny, and I don’t know why they kept going back to that well. I didn’t have a bad time watching it, but it’s not a top-100 episode for me, and it was definitely not as good or fun as any of the episodes ranked lower on the list.

Mobile Link - About
Name: Blaze
Faction: Neutral (NAIL)
Age: Around 4 million years old Creation Date: 30th of October Height: 8 metres/26 feet Weight: Lightweight; deceptively strong Special: Outlier with the ability to create anything using technology similar to holomatters.
Voice Claim: Norman Reedus Face Claim (holomatter): Norman Reedus
Occupation: Nomadic merchant, ruin explorer (for hire), smuggler (for hire), black market dealer, walking 3D printer
About himBastard. Cryptid. Your sleep paralysis demon.Goat Man.
Blaze.
Blaze is a sharp, bold-looking mech. Although unassuming at first glance, his intense, piercing glare reveals otherwise. He’s a nomad, moulded and shaped by the many years of constant travel throughout space. With his spaceship, his home, Voyager, he has seen many sights and has more to witness and experience.
Chaotic is a word that best describes Blaze’s essence of his character. He is a bundle of endless energy, no matter what situation. Nothing seems to tire him out or bring his mood down, always being able to pick himself up and resume his streak of contagious joy. Blaze likes fun and knows how to both seek and create it. He’s a cunning mech with a mischievous streak. If he sees an opportunity to create chaos or inconvenience someone in the name of fun, he will take it.
Much of his life is kept a close-kept secret. There’s barely any surviving records of his pre-war activities, keeping his identity somewhat shrouded in mystery. He prefers it this way, as he doesn’t enjoy when people pry too much into his personal life. He may appear extroverted, but Blaze needs to recharge his social battery more often than not.
Which is why he’s perfectly suited for his lifestyle. Over the years, he’s built in impressive mileage and knows everything about space travel. He’s explored every nook and cranny, exploits every possible shortcut and knows how to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. His passion for travelling goes hand-in-hand with his hobby - and career - of exploring anything abandoned and mysterious. He has a knack of finding lost treasure and belongings, essentially having become a bloodhound for trinkets. Anything he collects he restores and auctions off. For a price, he will look into specific locations. He adamantly sticks to his end of the deal and he expects the very same from his clients.
Don’t take his happy-go-lucky personality for granted. Blaze has a spicy temper that quickly erupts if the right buttons are pushed. Although on the shorter side, he is deceptively strong and has developed a very dirty fighting style. He is a fearless mech, unafraid to close the distance. Along with his strength comes his endurance and speed that makes him a tough opponent to fight against. His quick-witted character gives him an upper edge, able to adapt quickly. He owes this all to his nomadic lifestyle that has taught him so much about survival.
A not so hidden aspect of his life is his outlier ability. Whether it’s a gift or a curse, Blaze had become unmotivated to learn about them very early in his life. He carries an untapped potential in his servos, forever kept from the outer world all thanks to Blaze’s disinterest. He’s only learned what he needed to. Essentially being a walking 3D printer, he knows how to generate objects using an advanced form of holomatter technology. It’s one of the reasons he’s been able to keep Voyager running for this long.
Alt Mode
Unlike common helicopters which have rotor blades found on the top of the vehicle and a tiny rotor blade on the back of the tail, Blaze’s alt mode resembles more of a V-TOL or the copter from James Cameron’s Avatar. The tail lacks any kind of rotor blades and instead has two mobile wing blades that serve as wings and help him maneveur the flight. The tails have additional flaps that increase the surface of the tail, making for better turns and stops.
The two main rotor blades can move independently , allowing him to perform sharp turns and spins. He can even make one side of his blades spin faster than the other one. Same applies to the tail.
His alt mode is also equipped with boosters which drastically speed him up a bit. These thrusters are mainly used for long distance travel or when he needs that quick boost.
He is not the fastest and cannot break the speed of sound at all. But what he lacks in aerial speed he makes up for with agility. His max speeds linger around 700-900kph, depending on weather and planetery conditions. His alt mode is capable of heavy lifting duties, capable of lifting cargo several times heavier than him.
When transforming, there’s some mass displacement too. Mainly his rotor blades grow in size.

Equipment/Modifications
Pointy/sharp teeth. All of them
Retractable claws
In-built weapons: The blades protruding from his back have always been used as spears or swords (and other tools), though it’s primary usage has always been its alt-mode function; it helps him better manevour in the air, allowing for tighter turns. From now on, along with the blades, he will have in-built guns, that are hidden in his forearms and chest. To remain nimble and fast, the guns are lightweight and will at their best injure his opponents, ranging from minor to possibly severe injuries, depending on how well his aim is and how well-armored his attackers are. As any gun, they can deliver a fatal shot, but he has to be up-close and aim at someone’s head for it to become deadly. To reveal the guns, he has to fold away the armor for the guns to pop out, all activated and directed by his T-cog.
Sometimes he carries missiles. Only used when he knows he needs to use them.
The claws on his feet are very mobile. They can retract or fully extend and connect to create one sharp pointy structure. The underside on the claws has a special texture that allows him to scale nearly vertical surfaces.
To truly live up to his name, he can self-combust for short durations of time. Used as a scare tactic.
Handheld mutliversal spacebridge device. Allows him to easily hop through multiverse. Sometimes with consequences.
Outlier Abilities
Blaze’s outlier power is a poorly understood enigma. Theorized to be an anomaly even among other outliers, Blaze’s ability breaks all known laws of physics. To describe his powers in layman terms, he’s a walking 3D printer utilizing an advanced form of holomatter technology, based on solid light projections, to create and/or duplicate items of his choosing. The source of energy is unknown and thought to stem from his own pocket dimension that he himself has yet to understand how it works. Because of his outlier power, Blaze’s spark frequency, signature and EM field are never stable and — especially his EM field — can be overwhelming to others. Thus, he keeps it close to himself and only ever expands it when he is alone or when he wants to be more persuasive. How he materializes is largely similar to holomatter/holoavatar technology, albeit to a much more advanced form. He duplicates objects by learning about their composition, material and many practice rounds. The more complex the object is, the longer it will take. To ease up the process, Blaze can run multiple scans of the object, but more often than not he has to physically dismantle the item to fully study it. Once the object is fully embedded in his memory files, he can duplicate perfect 1:1 copies of the original. The more he practices, the faster the process becomes, eventually leading to duplicating complex structures within seconds. When he wishes to materialize something, Blaze can see the item in his HUD and its predictions on how it would interact in the real world. Once he is satisfied, it takes seconds to minutes to materialize the item. When his powers are in use, his biolights on his palm light up. While Blaze is known for his lack of enthusiasm to learn more about his power, he has refined his skill to be as subtle as possible. Only a very keen eye will notice he is behind all of this. It is not apparent that his powers are in use until the object gets closer to full completion. The object that has been fully materialized will never disappear and is subjected to stresses of its environment. The materialized object experiences wear and tear of everyday use. It behaves just like the original. Failure to fully materialize the object will result in an incomplete form that too can never disappear from existence. Although unpredictable and energy-demanding, just before the item fully solidifies, he can throw it through the air as a projectile. At the moment, he is too clumsy and imprecise with his throws, but given enough time and many attempts, this skill can become more refined. His outlier power is limited to solids that come in singular quantities. Solids that act like liquids (e.g. sand), liquids and gasses are impossible to duplicate, unless presented in a solid state. Despite not using energon as his main source of energy, Blaze’s outlier powers are very demanding on his psyche and frame. Complex objects and prolonged usage will lead to irritation, fatigue, headaches, nausea, pain in the chest and he can pass out if pushed too much. Unpredictable structures When under major stress or when Blaze’s emotions are running high, objects will become malformed. It is the only time that an object will deviate from its original blueprint, by either having features added or subtracted. More often than not, these unpredictable structures take on a form of long, twisting metal beams. This phenomenon has only been observed a few times. Major changes (25/6/2023)
A materialized object will never disappear once created. This retcons the idea that the materialized object can remain in three states: illusion (holograph), temporary solid holo-object (ability to make it disappear at will), permanent holo-object. This doesn’t change the phase of the object when it appears as a holograph before completely solidifying. An incomplete object that has been created will also never disappear
Ability to throw materialized objects has been better defined and simplified as a concept
Added the concept of “unpredictable structures”
Voyager
Voyager is INACCESSIBLE unless given permission from mun or muse
Due to safety reasons, Blaze keeps the ship in planet’s orbit on his visits, only coming in the atmosphere when Blaze boards it in his helicopter mode
If it’s parked on the ground, Voyager has a multitude of sensors and weapon systems to keep any intruders at bay. It can take off on its own should it detect a threat.
Blaze’s ship is a modified experimental warship. With state of the art technology and constantly upgrading, the ship possesses downscaled quantum engines, which at the time of engineering the spaceship’s model was a revolutionary feat of technological achievement - it still is a monumental milestone in quantum engine research field. The engine allow him to make short-distance jumps, greatly speeding up spacetravel and saving on conventional fuel, as the quantum engines simply need to rest before the next jump.
How Blaze acquired such a ship is a secret he holds deep in his spark. Since the purchase, Blaze further modified the ship to make it lighter and faster by removing most of the heavy-duty weaponry, leaving behind a few turret guns. He gutted the interior and installed new walls, turning it into a mobile home/merchant business. Storage rooms hold a variety of trinkets and questionably legal possessions he’s collected over the years. A simple hallway leads straight to the living room, with tech room and Blaze’s private room opposite of each other. The living area is combined with facilities to make food, drinks; sunken platform with a couch to lounge around has been fitted in one part of the room.
The living area houses the cockpit area, with the controls and buttons of every imagination to control the ship. A sophisticated AI runs the ship, with Blaze having long-distance access to the ship’s controls. The ship flies itself the majority of the time, though Blaze is always ready to switch to manual controls, which he is more than adept at, with more than four million years of spaceship piloting experience.
The ship is something Blaze takes huge pride in. Along with self-repair, Blaze himself will tend to any maintanence the ship requires to keep it running. Being his home, Blaze had developed quite an attachment to it and he can’t bear losing sight or contact with the ship. If he loses the ship, he loses everything.
The ship has the ability to take off and land like commercial Earth aircrafts. However, the ship is not restricted to only this type of take off/landing. His ship is able to hover using thrusters located on the underside of the ship.

what is it about cruise ships that you find ugly? like are there any specific ones you hate or is it just all of them?
okay so ive been puzzling over to how to answer this for A While™ because:
theres so many ugly cruise ships i would love to roast, and theres a part of me that wants to make a sideblog about it a la @mcmansionhell but for cruise ships
i am autistic and this is my special interest and i also want to infodump about ship design conventions
theres also really pretty oceanliners like the ss france that got converted into cruise ships where the magical girl transformation sequence malfunctioned badly.
its not always just like the exterior thats badly designed, theres both Awful design inside the ship like the disney wish, and Awful business plans and conduct like the epirotiki lines
...but, thats a lot.
so instead, ive settled on four exterior design issues that i think you can see in a lot of cruise ships even if you dont know shit about ships.
this is by no means an exhaustive list but just some common observations that you will see in 97% of cruise ships.
im also gonna include an example ship for each and also further examples when needed.
so without further ado:
1. your ship looks like a bus and a ferry had an unholy love affair that ended with a baby neither wanted.
as an example of this anchor-christ, may i introduce you to the celebrity edge

something about the stern (back) just reminds me of diamond busses here in the uk while the bow (front) has a distinctly ferry-like look.
the super-structure that you see peaking above the spaceship-bridge on the bow is giving me double-decker bus energy.
the orange viewing box elevator thingy gives construction site energy, but also gives me public transport vibes? like i can just see something similar being added on buses with no explanation and we'd all just be like i guess buses are getting the budget silicon valley treatment.
further, celebrity edge has relatively sharp angles at the stern and bow. if you look at a lot of ocean liners, youll see shallower sweeping angles curving down, while a lot of cruise ships will have these sharper angles (though by angles, i mean curves still) or just will stop at the stern:

[Image ID: collage with five ships. In the top left corner, there are two images with the profiles of the SS France and the SS Andrea Doria. In the top right, there is the stern of the MSC Meraviglia. Bottom left: the stern of the Costa Deliziosa. Bottom right: stern of the Norwegian Epic]
though not pictured above, the rms queen mary actually earned her title at the miss pacific ocean competition where a cruise ship will never win because theyre just too ugly.
but my point is that the abrupt ending of superstructure and ship at the stern looks like a bus. it just does.
there is also like "this is just a block of flats" energy with the costa deliziosa, but thats getting into the next point:
-
2. oh no gang, billy bear misplaced his msc seaside hotel and now its floating out to sea on a barge! can you help him?

yes this is a butlins reference, what are you gonna do about it? call a red coat on me?
the msc seaside is one of many cruise ships where it looks like someone put a hotel on a barge... which is what a cruise ship actually is.
like, they are barely ships. anyone who says theyre going on a cruise to explore the ocean is trying to buff out their tinder bio. while cruise ships technically can sail across oceans, they dont. their journeys are incredibly short they sail very close to land, avoid any rough weather and its mandatory for all of their captains to have a north american blue grouse fursona.
and thats all because a cruise ship is hotel complex on a barge. its purpose is not to sail far because its just a hotel. there are multiple swimming pools and restaurants and night clubs and fucking rollercoasters on some of them. you can buy souvenirs, you can go do yoga, you can get a massage and as long as your surname doesnt end with a double n, you can put your kid into the available childcare.
forget sending the british army to pontins during covid, lets send them to pontoons!

hotels on barges are the most common version youll see, but there are other variations which include:
chopping mall 2: carnivore cruises
the 2006 remake of the anchor-christ: abargements/if youre renting in a block of flats on a barge, do you pay rent to a waterlord or is your landlord firmly stood on ground?
the happiest place on earth: disneywater!
the entire shenanigans going on with the freedom ship which i do not have time or energy to get into right now, so lets all just calm and down and take a breath and...
-
...3. close your eyes, imagine, feel it. youre on a cruise ship, the ovation of the seas; its an early august night and petrichor deluges the air. the skies above you glisten, a whirlpool of colour illuminated by hundreds of tiny flecks of light. youre alone on the deck, standing at the stern with your arms precariously balanced on the barrier as you turn your attention to the ocean below. its dark, the gentle waves nearly imperceptible yet bar the bone-white crests against the hull. you watch, captivated, listening to the ocean sing its terrible song. yet then somewhere behind you, the mellow thud of hoofs on the wooden deck weaves between the waves and the melody. you look up, lock eyes, feel a hurricane surround you as he stares back, do you remember to count his fingers?
so, you might have noticed that a lot of modern cruise ships, especially the bigger ones, look like some check-mark tech-bro on the bird app used an ai to steal the work of naval architects, photographers, artists, etc. to generate "their own design" for a cruise ship.
the example i chose for this was the ovation of the seas:

the super-structure has copy and paste vibes. the ship also looks like its lurching forward to attack me but thats beside the point.
one of the issues the designers for these ships - i would say naval architects but cruise lines sometimes choose someone for head of design who is not a naval architect and has never been on a ship before for shits, giggles and profits- run into is that its really difficult to make a long blank wall look good.
if youve ever made a house in the sims, youve probably ran into this yourself. youre happily building your house and it looks really good at the front and the back, but the side of it is just a wall and adding windows is giving copy and paste vibes.
my trick for this is either fake chimney, add an extra small popout, vines everywhere or hide it with trees, but these are not viable options for a cruise ship.
trust me, i checked:

hence, we end up with very long ships where its just ctrl c ctrl v for 300+ metres.
so how do you fix this?
well, idk maybe you could take notes from any of the longer ocean liners built in recent history.
you know, like the ss united states or the rms queen mary 2 or the ss michelangelo or the ss normandie or the mv kungsholm or the ss principe perfeito:

now im not saying all of these liners are the most beautiful boats ever; theyre not. as much as i adore her, queen mary 2 is a little ugly. most of them even have an element of copy and paste.
but none of them feel ai-generated. and a lot of them look really really pretty. you can tell that they were designed by human beings.
because the naval architects and naval designers who knew what they were doing. weve got clever use of colours, gorgeous use of curves and sweeping lines that balance out all the design elements. the sameness is broken up when possible, and the ship has focal points designed within to catch your eye.
and all of them have beautiful bows. most ocean liners had/have noticeable bows due to functionality; they needed sharp bows to cut through waves because they were crossing the ocean every week. and so extra care would be taken to both make the bow work for its function and also, look really fucking cool.
the ss normandie specifically has a unique bow shape and structure designed by vladimir yourkevitch, a russian naval architect who had emigrated to france after the russian revolution.

the bow is slanted and looks almost clipper-like. theres this clear bulbous bulb (thats the wrong term but the bit at the bottom) beneath the waterline. this design is matched with a slim hull designed to be hydrodynamic, which made her a very fast ship.
she and the rms queen mary fought over the blue ribband for several years before ww2 broke out. [x][x]
its a little wibbly-wobbly-looking but it gives her a very distinct profile and she just looks really cool. you dont notice the repeating pattern of windows on the super structure because of how striking her entire design is.
and well, there has been attempts to capture this with cruise ships.
they run into problems with it though because their bows are not designed the way ocean liners' bows were because a cruise ship does not need to cut through waves. itd be really weird if you were in a fancy restaurant and you were giving a steak knife for your caesar salad.
so what else can you do to make your bow look so beautiful her kissing booth would be sold out all weekend?
-
4. your bow art is ugly. it is ugly. it is really ugly. please stop putting art on your bow. it is all ugly.

yeah.
take a moment .
.
its okay.
i promise
,
.
shes not real.
.
you can breathe.
take another breath.
.
.
youre okay.
.
.
.
are you scrolled far down enough that you cant see her anymore?
yeah so that was the aidanova. probably the worst bow art i have ever encountered but im yet to encounter any bow art that isnt awful.
pride of america is terrible; caribbean princess' is just completely out of place; norwegian prima is the epitome of "what the fuck?"; majestic princess' makes the ship look naked somehow.
now i will concede that a lot of bow art is probably aimed at children because family cruises are a thing, but i wont concede that it changes anything.
the bow art is still ugly and i struggle to see how it would be appealing to a child. like engaging children is more than just throwing some bright colours and patterns on a canvas? children are smarter than that and even in my joking post making fun of cruise ships, im not gonna stand for the way we invalidate the personhood of children. theyre not things to be distracted with simple solutions.
weirdly the aidanovas is the one id be less harsh about in terms of engaging children because there is more to dig into like a boat version of thomas the tank engine or like how do boat body work? the art isnt surface level.
but its still just ugly. the shape of the bow does not compliment the face and the change in colour in the eyes is very distracting.
tbh, if youre gonna do bow art, youve got two options that arent awful:
actually aim it at kids in a way thats not just surface level look at bright colour braxter. have focus groups with kids, gets their feedback, have kids contribute. respect the intelligence and personhood of kids.
just go all out. balls to the fucking wall, just break every damn rule in the book and apply every technique your art teacher hated. the ship is gonna be ugly anyway, make it fun ugly. camp is in. pantomime it up in this bitch!
-
and anyway, that concludes my "brief" answer to this question 👍
btw if you would follow a blog that just trashes cruise ships because of how ugly they are, please tell me because like, if enough people would enjoy it to make the effort worth it, i Will do it.

I just watched the first Doctor Who 60th special. Here are my immediate, unprocessed thoughts:
I am still a little sceptical, but it is starting to feel like a return to form, one can definitely feel the RTD touches coming back. It's a little older, and of this age, but there's a familiarity there.
Anyway spoilers, here are some detailed thoughts:
Things I really liked:
- The opening landing of the Tardis, an alleyway somwhere in London, the spaceship crash very much 2005 era vibes.
-Donna missing all that. Of course she does.
- New tardis interior, it's nice, it's the very cutting edge minimalist feel to it, which is a different flavour from what we've had for a long time, (usually not what I like, but its) refreshing, yet it still very much echoes the past, and the first Davies era - I am reminded of the bit where he or the designer of the 2005 tardis said it was imagined as the top half of a sphere, here it's basically a full sphere.
And they just had to flex how much of it was a real large set, and its pyrotechnic capabilities. Also, it's got RBG.
- I thought the pacing was good. Was a little worried they would dwell on the regeneration mystery a bit at the start but instead they moved straight on, and the doctor started doing stuff
- they did the 13th's era "the aliens you think are the baddies aren't" but they did it well, rather than just ok.
- It was brave of them to include a transgender character - I am not from the UK, but from what I hear, there's controversy and fuss going on over there.
The was a bit near the end was a little clumsy (see next section), but this reminds me of RTD era one's deliberate casual inclusion of gay and bi characters during the 00s, which was a different era. This feels like that.
Many of this feels like RTD finding either unfinished business, or new bits to add to old themes, and it was nice to see. But now, on to the
Did not likes
- I didn't like that they fake outed on Donna's death. Remeber that era of the show where they were afraid to end things? The solution of the metachrisis being having a daughter and splitting is ok. I could sorta see where they were going, and why they did it...
But then, personally, I didn't like that sort of stuff that much in RTD, like the "doctor who space Jesus moment", or Donna magically gaining all that timelord knowledge from seemingly nowhere in the first place.
-the "male presenting timelord wouldn't think of this" bit seemed like a sexist jibe, come on, that's not really that feminist or progressive. Tbh, the whole bit where gender somehow mattered in an unclear way felt kinda clumsy to me. Maybe if it had been better set up earlier, without ruining the casualness if earlier character scences... idk.
-the sonic makes force fields now. They made it clear that it's not that instant or convenient, but will this get overused? Forgotten in future when it could be useful? Ruin future plots? Idk, it's always a risk adding a new power to the sonic.
Undecided:
The only thing I am uncertain about is we never saw Wilfred Mott again, bit he's apparently alive somewhere? The actor died, apparently they chose to make it that the character did not, but we still don't get to see him?
But for the first time in a while, this feels like an episode I would actually rewatch. In fact I'm looking forward to when I watch it again with my mum.
I'm actually feeling a little bit excited for doctor who again. I love that. I missed that.

do…. do you have any phandrow headcanons… and/or headcanons about phantom and woodrow seperately…. smiles politely
Sure, I guess it's time to share some things that I've tought until now for these two!
Something about Woodrow that I don't think I've shared yet:
Him and Sweetlopek are best friends since elementary school. Sweetlopek defended him from bullies and Woodrow helped him with literature homework. Everyone in town started calling them "the disaster duo" as kids due to Woodrow's jinx and Sweetlopek's fondness for sharp things.
His cloud Jinx is the one constantly above his house. A small portion of it can detach to follow him everywhere, even on other planets, altought it's not really know how it gets there as it isn't allowed anywhere inside, even a spaceship.
He's trans. He briefly went to live with Sweetlopek after his top surgery so he could get some help from his friend while he recovered (yes he got a cone of shame too, lmao). His little cloud Jinx refused to stay outside so the two Rabbids agreed to let it in to watch over its owner. Jinx probably tought Woodrow was injured like after the ship accident, but it seemed deligthed when its owner looked really happy instead.
He can't keep his hair combed, no matter how much hair conditioner, oil or hair straightener he will always have a cowlick.
Rabbids' skeletons are very weird and able to collapse (like a mouse's). Woodrow's one after the ship accident is more messed up. He can basically do a 180 Exorcist style, but with his torso and he can be stretched out without being hurt.
Little about Phantom, why not?
He sincerely tought he was straight. Then between Bea's backup dancer (yes, I headcanon him as male for this now, lol) and then Woodrow he realized he's bi.
He's afraid of chandeliers. What if one crashes on his head?? (I know in the og Phantom of the Opera the chandelier doesn't fall on the Phantom, but I think our Phantom needs an irrational fear, plus it's a funny reference to that scene)
He makes flower orders from Terra Flora under a false name. He could buy flowers from another place, but he adores Bea's compositions. Even if he'll never admit it.
And now Phandrow moments!
Phantom and Woodrow are the couple who lose all their braincells when they are together.
Woodrow is the guy who could set on fire even a salad when cooking, meanwhile Phantom is a pretty good cook. He's also a grandma when it comes to food, so he cooks a lot and if youre not hungry, well you are, lol. After they moved in together Woodrow gained a bit of weight.
Phantom loves playing with makeup. Woodrow was never a fan, but in one of their "no braincells found" moments, he agreed to have Phantom do his makeup. He gave him a moustache with eyeliner and Woodrow bursted laughing saying he looked like his father. He then proceeded to keep it for the day to confuse everyone in town.
In one of their anniversaries together they both had the idea to gift eachother a rubber ducky dressed up as themselves.
Woodrow likes to have his back cracked (it's not a surprise with that posture, lol). When he needs to he would hold onto something while Phantom pulls his legs until it goes "crack!". As said, Woodrow's bones are weird so he can stretch without harm. It's while Phantom stretched him a little bit too far accidentally exposing his butt, that he found out Woodrow wears pumpkin printed underwear, lol.
Phantom is able to fix Woodrow's permanent cowlick. It takes more hair conditioner than Phantom uses (and he uses a lot of it), so it's only done for special occasions.
Phantom writes songs based on the poems that Woodrow reads him. Depending on how many words from the poem he uses in the song, when sung it can have more or less of the poem's effects.
Sometimes they start writing random things before they go to sleep. They often continue writing even while in bed until one of them fall asleep.
Phantom is a night owl and Woodrow an early bird. Phantom makes sure Woodrow falls asleep peacefully while cuddling him and he's usually the one that puts in order the things they used while writing. In the morning Woodrow will snuggle up on still asleep Phantom, combing his hair with his hand while waiting for him to wake up. He only has to make sure no rhyme leave his mouth as he already startled awake Phantom once making a framed picture fall on his head (don't worry Phantom has a very hard head, lol).
Phantom purrs very frequently and very loudly. Before Phantom, Woodrow has never been heard purr by anyone, not even Sweetlopek. He does indeed purr, but only when he's writing when he's very inspired and he does it very softly.
[These two are going to give me diabetes, I have to go punch a wall now AFHABJSWD]

Hey :D I watched a few movies with Jake and I was wondering what are your fave movies and your least fave? Just curious!
hi anon!!! i hope you've enjoyed the movies you've watched so far!!! 💖 i've made it through almost his entire filmography, i think i'm missing 2 of them? yeah, that's about right. i'm avoiding nocturnal animals like the plague so maybe one day i will be brave enough to watch it and complete jake's whole filmography. it was pretty easy to select my 3 least favourites, but my top 3 had me questioning everything. i just love so many of his movies, it's not my fault! thank you so much for asking this question! i love rambling.
TOP 3 FAVOURITE MOVIES
Demolition (i remember watching this movie and i loved it so much that i watched it a second time right away. it holds such a special place in my heart and it always will!)
Brokeback Mountain and Love & Other Drugs (it feels criminal to put them at the same level but i just love them too much okay!!! they both make me cry a river)
Road House (yeah <3 jake has so many amazing movies but the rewatchability factor is very important to me and i've watched the movies mentioned above SO MANY TIMES and what's the other one that i also watched an alarming amount of times? road house. it's funny, it's pretty, it's not boring, it's not too long, it's got some depth, it's just so good. ambulance would also qualify, i love it so much too. if i was smart i would put wildlife because it gave me a similar gut punch as demolition did the first time i watched it, but i'm not smart so my vote goes for the gyllentitties)
TOP 3 LEAST FAVOURITE MOVIES
The Sisters Brothers (i love john morris & his multiple accents so much and there are elements of the movie i liked, but... it's so long... it's so boring... it's so yeehaw gold rush... it's one of the few movies of jake i have on DVD and i can assure you it won't be played very often <3)
Highway (call me boring and lame and everything you want, but i don't like alcohol and weed and stuff centered around those topics so it's kind of obvious that this movie wasn't for me. pilot's cute, i like him, but yeah. it took me forever to find this movie online in english and not spanish or russian? for some reason? so the intensive research was not all that worth it. if i ever watch it again, it's for pilot)
Life (i love david jordan and his yo-yo!!! i love him so much!!! i watched 2 alien movies in my life and they were essentially the same and i did not like them. why do they always let the aliens inside the spaceship??? aren't astronauts supposed to be smart? it's so stupid that they just think it will end well. it never ends well! so yeah i'd rather watch accidental love than life and that says A LOT.)
honourable mention for spirit untamed. i will never watch spirit untamed. i grew up watching spirit: stallion of the cimarron and my spirit would never!!! i can tell that jake's voice acting improved a lot between this movie and strange world and that's all that matters.
as a bonus, i'll give you the 3 movies that pleasantly surprised me! moonlight mile (i wasn't expecting much? i don't know, i thought it would be pretty meh but it was so good! i really liked it and it's definitely one of my rare comfort watches because jake hates me and doesn't do enough movies i can just watch easily), end of watch (it's so... intense. i almost threw up because of a certain scene, i thought i would have stopped watching before the end but i loved brian taylor so much) and stronger (one of jake's most underrated performances like woah this was so painful and so good and so yeah! i really liked it. you can tell that jake was passionate about telling this story and it deserves a lot more recognition). i'm done rambling now, thank you again for sending this! 💖
