Captively in Love

“Where is he?”

Steve stood up, slowly lifting his hands up in front of him. 

“Just calm down NN, we’re-”

She slammed her hands on the table, her eyes flashing purple.

“Where is he?!”

Steve sighed, lowering his hands.

“We don’t know, but we have a le-”

She tilted her head to the side, clenching her jaw.

“Where?”

“The place that made him the winter soldier.”

She nodded, and in a blink she was gone.

“I hate when she does that.”

Steve turned back towards the others, shaking his head as he sighed.

“Suit up. We’re gonna have to pick them up.”

“Oh my god.”

“What happened here?”

Steve looked around, slightly shaking his head. Parts of the compound were falling apart, some areas on fire. 

“YN happened.”

“If she beat us here, where is she?”

Tony stepped forward, lifting his arm, scanning the area before he shook his head.

“There’s no heat signatures besides us.”

Steve shook his head, walking forward.

“There’s no way she would’ve been able to get them both back. She wouldn’t risk it.”

Steve turned back towards the others, nodding slightly.

“They have to be here somewhere. Spread out, look for any sign of them.”

Tony’s face mask closed before he stepped forward, flying towards the compound. The others followed after, Steve adjusting his grip on his shield before he followed behind them.

The alarms were screeching, the lights flickering on and off as the alarms lit red. They were prepared for an attack from the avengers, but not from me. The top of the compound was empty, but there was a titanium door in the basement. The door crashed to the ground, and the agents waiting behind it were knocked out with one blast. My hands were purple as I walked down the hall, the hall expanding into a circle , the area pitch black. I jumped slightly when the lights came on, seeing Bucky strung up in the middle of the room. I gasped, my eyes widening.

“Bucky.”

I rushed to him, gently placing my hand on his cheek.

“Bucky, Bucky it’s me. I’m here. I’m gonna get you out of here, I promise, okay?”

He groaned, causing me to bite back the tears that were forming as I reached up to free him from the chains that were holding him up.

“I was wondering when you would arrive, Nyx.”

I froze, slowly turning around.

“I knew that you would never be able to let the man you love be taken. As I’m sure you’ve figured out, he was just a trap.”

I shook my head, clenching my jaw.

“You made a mistake.”

He laughed, stepping out of the shadows. He reached up, running his fingers along the scar that covered half of his face, slightly shaking his head.

“The only mistake I ever made was letting you escape. I promise you, I will not make the same mistake twice.”

“Please, please.”

Steve perked up, rushing forward, moving a piece of debris out of the way. He dropped his shield, his eyes widening. YN jumped, lifting her hand, her powers swirling around her hand as she leaned forward, covering Bucky. It took her a few seconds to recognize Steve before she dropped her hand, sniffling.

“Help me.”

She sat up, Steve’s eyes widening. She was holding Bucky, her left hand hovering over his chest, purple wisps swirling around his chest. She sniffled, shaking her head as Steve knelt beside her.

“It was meant for me.  He, it was supposed to be me.”

Steve shook his head, reaching up towards his com.

“Guys, I found them. We- we need medical, immediately.”

It had happened so fast. I thought I had managed to overpower Jax, and I had just managed to free Bucky when he was pushing me out of the way. The gunshots rang in my ears as I shot a blast at Jax, Jax’s eyes widening as he was thrown back into the wall, a sickening crack echoing as I caught Bucky. I pushed his hair back out of his face, shaking my head.

“Bucky, Bucky please, stay with me.”

He groaned, reaching up and shakingly wiping my tears.

“I love you.”

I sniffled, slightly shaking my head as I placed my hand over his chest, watching as it lit purple. 

“I love you too, just keep your eyes open for me, okay? Just stay awake.”

His eyes grew heavy as he ran his thumb along my cheek, his eyes glazing over.

“I lo-love yo-”

I screamed when his hand fell, his eyes closing. A wave of purple left me as I leaned forward, covering Bucky’s body with my own.

“YN.”

I looked up, seeing Steve standing in front of me.

“You should go and get some rest, clean up, get something to eat.”

I shook my head, looking down at my hands. They were stained red, tears forming in my eyes.

“I can’t.”

Steve sighed, taking a small step forward.

“YN, you need to get some rest, get cleaned up.”

I shook my head, sniffling as I looked up at Steve.

“I can’t. I- I can’t move.”

Steve knelt in front of me, placing his hand on my knee, his eyes red with tears as he slowly nodded.

“That’s okay. I’ll help you, okay?”

I nodded, Steve standing up, helping me stand. 

“Friday, can you have Nat meet us in YN’s room?”

“She’s on her way.”

“He’s awake.”

I pushed the door to Bucky’s room open, tears forming in my eyes when I saw Bucky lying in bed, sitting up.

“Yo-you’re okay.”

Steve looked over at me nodding as he turned back towards Bucky, standing up. 

“I’ll come back later.”

Bucky nodded, Steve offering me a smile as he passed her, closing the door behind him. I walked towards Bucky, shaking my head as I sat down in the chair Steve was sitting in.

“You are okay, right?” Bucky nodded, smiling softly at me.

“I’m okay. Thanks to you.”

I shook my head, tears streaming down my face.

“You got hurt because of me. You were taken because of me. Jax, he wanted me. It was all a trap to get me back under his control.”

Bucky shook his head, reaching his hand out towards me. He shot me a look, huffing slightly.

“Get over here.”

I sniffled, getting up and sitting on the edge of the bed, placing my hand in Bucky’s. 

“You didn't do anything but save me, you hear me? What Jax did, it’s not your fault.”

“You got shot. It was supposed to be me. Jax was aiming for me.”

Bucky shook his head, gently squeezing my hand.

“I will always protect you. I would do it again in a heartbeat.”

I shook my head, sniffling as I reached up, wiping my tears.

“Please don’t. I-I thought I’d lost you.”

Bucky shook his head, pulling me to him, wrapping his arm around me as I laid my head on his chest.

“I promise, I won’t ever leave you.”

I sighed, listening to his heartbeat as I closed my eyes.

“I love you.” Bucky gently squeezed me, kissing my head.

“I love you too.”
