Goodbye
Summary: Saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do, especially when you love them. Pairings: Steve Rogers x Reader Warnings: Death, Angst Word Count: 1157 Square Filled: Hologram AN: Written for @star-spangled-bingoâ SSB Spring Flash Bingo 2021
His chest was heaving as he stepped over the rubble, the sight in front of him causing him to jerk to a stop as he gasped.
âNo. No, no, no!â
He pulled his helmet off, letting it fall to the ground before he rushed forward, falling to his knees. Hesitantly he reached out, gently turning her so she was lying on her back, tears streaming down his face as he shook his head.
âNo.â
She looked, peaceful, except she wasnât breathing, and there wasnât a pulse. He leaned down, softly pressing his lips to hers as he closed her eyes.
âIâm so sorry. I-I love you.â
âSteve?â
Steve sniffled, turning. Bucky was standing at the top of the destruction, blood dripping from his forehead. Steve shook his head, tears welling in his eyes as Bucky walked towards him.
âSh-sheâs gone.â
Bucky sighed, reaching out and placing his hand on Steveâs shoulder.
âSt-â
âSheâs gone and I wasnât here to protect her.â
Bucky knelt down beside Steve, pulling him into his side as Steve sobbed.
âI love you.â
Steve looked up from where he was sitting, looking over at YN.
âWhat?â
She grinned, dropping her head into the crook of her arm, slightly shaking her head.
âYou heard me.â
Steve shook his head, setting his book down as he stood up.
âI donât think I did. Say it again, please?â
She smiled as she turned so she was laying on her back as he climbed into bed with her.
âI love you.â
Steve tightened his grip on the casket handle as they walked down the aisle, his face red with tears. This wasnât supposed to happen. They werenât supposed to be apart, they werenât supposed to end this way. They were supposed to get married, watch their kids grow, play with their grandkids, grow old together. But instead heâs saying goodbye, and heâs burying his heart.Â
âWhat about this one?â
Steve looked over at where Bucky was standing, looking down at the ring he was holding, slightly making a face.
âI donât know, itâs-â
âToo much?â
Steve sighed, shrugging as Bucky handed the ring back to the salesperson.Â
âI- I want her to look at and see how much she means to me.â
Bucky sighed, shaking his head.
âCome on punk, you know YN, she doesnât care about the size of the diamond or whatever. She loves you. You. Besides, your actionsâll show her how much she means to you.â
Steve felt his heart break with each sound of the shovel hitting the dirt, the sound of the dirt hitting the casket ringing in his ears. He was the last to step forward, the shovel practically weighing him down as he shoveled a pile of dirt onto the casket, flashes of their past and their future passing in front of him. He tightened his grip on the shovel, taking a deep breath as he closed his eyes.
âI love you YN, forever and always.â
Steve hesitated in the doorway to their room, but with a deep breath he walked forward, the door closing softly behind him. Looking around he felt the tears welling in his eyes again as he saw her blanket tossed over the side of the couch, her swords leaning up against the wall leading to their room, his hoodie she had ultimately claimed as hers laying on the edge of the bed, her side of the bed unmade, the extra blanket she used tangled with the comforter, her boots he always tripped on no matter where she put them kicked to the side of the room. Steve sat down on the edge of the bed, placing his head in his hands, his shoulders shaking as he cried. He looked up, clenching his jaw before he jumped up, grabbing things and throwing them, flipping things over. He fell to his knees when the room was destroyed, his chest heaving when something caught his eye. He reached over, picking it up. It was a sleek, silver disk, except there was a red line around the edges compared to YNâs other disks that she frequently used. Steve ran his fingers over it, making a face when there was a beeping sound, gasping when an image appeared, dropping the disk to the floor, the image flickering before a bigger image appeared, tears welling in his eyes again when he saw her standing in front of him in her mission outfit. She smiled softly, offering a small wave.
âHey Stevie. I- I didnât want to do this, not like this anyway but, I knew-â
She shook her head, making a face.
âNo, thatâs not right. I had a feeling, a nagging voice inside my head telling me that I needed to do this. This mission, itâs not going to be like the otherâs, itâs, this is the end of the line. Thereâs going to be losses, some really close to home, and I donât know, but I have a feeling that after today, things are going to be different. We- if youâre seeing this an-and Iâm not with you, then I am so sorry. Iâm so freaking sorry. I love you. I have always loved you, and I always will love you. Iâm such an ass for doing this.â
She shook her head, breathing a half laugh as she reached up, wiping her cheeks.
âBut I canât, I need you to promise me something. And you can hate me for it, I know I would hate you if roles were reversed, but I-I need you to promise me that you wonât let this stop you from living your life. Youâre a wonderful person Steve, and you deserve the world. You deserve to be happy, you deserve to be loved and be in love. Iâm sorry that it isnât me. I really, really wish it was me but-â
She shook her head, sniffling as she smiled softly.
âI just need you to know that. I love you. I love you but please, please donât let this hold you back. Donât ignore the others, donât push them away. Theyâre only trying to help. And donât, donât dwell on the could be. We wouldâve been great together, we were great together, but now, now you get to be great with someone else, someone who can offer you all the happiness in the world. Just, promise me that youâll find someone who loves you for you, that makes you happy. Have the white picket fence, the two kids and a dog, the apple pie life. But donât do it for me, do it for you.â
âYN1 Come on, weâve got to go!â
She turned, nodding before she turned back around, smiling softly.
âI guess itâs time to go, I-Iâll see you soon Steve. I love you, so freaking much.â
She blew a kiss before she turned, the hologram flickering away. Tears were streaming down his face, his shoulders shaking.
âI-I love you too.â

His Girl
Pairing: Steve Rogers x reader
Warnings: could be read as a crack fic (maybe?)
Word count: 640
Written for @star-spangled-bingo's SSB SPRING FLASH 2021 Bingo (square: Taken Captive)
Everyone knows that Steve will always go to bat for those he cares about and Odin help whoever gets in his way. Apparently, these leftover Hydra idiots didn't get that memo when they decided to grab you from your apartment one night.
You could tell these were definitely the lower-level types that never saw any real action. They did the usual chloroform rag but it wasn't enough to knock you out so you just felt like you were having really lucid dreams. Then, they used their real voices and didn't cover their faces. I mean, did they fail Bad Guy 101 or what? The cherry on top was the "ransom call" to Steve. Did these geniuses use a burner phone? Oh no, no, no. It was a phone that one of the guys shares with his mom. No location scrambler, no voice decoder, not even *67. The chloroform was mostly out of your system by now so you got to absorb these dumb-dumbs in their natural habitat, trying to sound menacing when you could see the hand holding the phone was shaking.
"Cap, we have your girl. If you ever want to see her again, give us $10 million dollars in the next 2 hours."
You couldn't help but to toy with them and to keep Steve on the line long enough to track your location. "Hey fellas, why not make it $20? You know Stark has the money." You could see them all nodding like The Three Stooges.
"Cap, make it 20 instead! Place the money in green duffel bags outside of the former SHIELD Headquarters." These geniuses only took you 6 blocks away? My God, were they in for it!
Steve was seething! How dare anyone think of laying a hand on you? He knew you could hold your own in a fight but no one messed with Steveâs loved ones! He stormed towards the common area to round up backup (not that he really needed it with how pissed off he was).
By now, you'd made your way out of the flimsy handcuffs but just needed to stay put for a big longer. "I think that went well, guys. Steve is very serious about his loved ones so I have no doubt that he'll be here. Say, do you have anything to drink around here? You guys took me before I could grab my before-bed drink."
Just as one of them returned with a bottle of water, a huge hole was below in the wall opposite you. As the dust settled, you saw those oh-so-comforting stars & stripes along with a deadly spider and a birdman who was not to be toyed with. Nat gave you a smirk as she could tell from your posture that youâd escaped from the handcuffs.
Steve noticed your slight movements and while he, Nat, & Sam distracted the kidnappers, you swiped the legs out from under the one closest to you. As he went down, he grabbed another who hit his head on the table going down. The 3rd one tried to run away and ran straight in the wall instead. If these guys hadn't (clumsily) kidnapped you, he'd almost feel sorry for them.
Nat & Sam rounded up the baddies so that you two could have a moment together. Steve gave a once over to make sure you didn't have any injuries.
"Babe, I'm fine! If anything, you should be checking up on those bozos. I'm slightly offended that I had a boring kidnapping. The movies make it seem way more exciting than this."
Steve just shook his hand and smiled as the 4 of you walked back to the Quinjet with your prisoners in tow. He would always worry about you being a potential target but you proved that you could hold your own so maybe he could worry a little less.

Hide & Seek

Written for: @star-spangled-bingoâ 2021!  (& All Caps Flash Bingo!) Words: 690 SSB Square Filled: Taken Captive All Caps Flash Square Filled: Taken Captive Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader Warnings: Read is kidnapped, but no depiction of violence! Summary: Reader is an hour late for lunch with Steve. He canât shake the feeling something has happened to her. When he learns that sheâs been taken, the Captain springs into action.

âExcuse me, Miss?â A man stepped out in front of you on the street.
âHi.â You greeted him politely and tried to walk past. The man side stepped so that he was still in your way. âSorry, Iâm in a bit of a hurry.â You apologized.
âOn your way to see Captain Rogers I imagine.â The man commented. âIâm afraid youâre going to miss that appointment, Miss.â He said before indicating the gun hidden beneath his jacket.
âHeâll come looking for me.â You insisted.
âThatâs what weâre counting on.â The man grinned. âInto the car.â He nodded to an all-black car that pulled up beside you. âIt would be better for you to come quietly.â You nodded letting them man know that you understood what he was saying. Someone got out of the car and held the door open for you. The last thing you remembered was climbing into the back of the car.

âHey Gramps, you forget where you are? Need someone to walk you home?â Tony Stark teased Steven when he found the Captain standing in the lobby of the tower, frowning at his watch.
âHa-ha.â Steve laughed sarcastically. âIâm waiting on [Y/N.]â She was supposed to meet me here for lunch. I suppose she could have gotten hung up with something, but sheâs almost an hour late. Thatâs not like her.â
âIâm sure sheâs fine, but if youâre really worried, you can try calling her work.â Tony shrugged.
âMaybe I will. I hate to bother her, but I feel like thereâs something else going on here.â As Tony walked away, Steve dialed the number to your office.
No one had heard from you at work. When you didnât come back from lunch on time, your assistant had assumed that youâd gone to meet a client downtown. She started to panic when Steve explained youâd never arrived to lunch. He tried his best to assure her everything would be fine before ending the call. After all youâd gotten wrapped up in work before.
However, before heâd even hung up the phone, his heart was racing, and his palms were sweaty. He knew something had happened to you. Slightly more troubling than that, he knew that with every second that passed the chances of finding you become slimmer and slimmer. He wished heâd thought to hide a GPS tracker in your purse. He wished heâd noticed sooner that you were missing. He wished he knew where the hell you were.
âWeâll fine her.â Tony insisted.
âHow can you be so sure?â Steve questioned, wishing he shared his friendâs confidence. âWeâve tried tracking her phone, itâs been turned off or destroyed. Sheâs not showing up on any surveillance cameras we have in the city. We donât even know if sheâs in the city.â
âOh, we know.â Tony disagreed. With a snap of his fingers a hologram map of the city popped up between the two of them. A small red blip was flashing on the edge of the city.
âHow?â Steve asked, studying the map.
âWell, someone had to microchip your girlfriend just in case she got kidnapped.â Tony shrugged. âAnd before you lecture me, it was consensual. Iâm not just going around injecting trackers against the will of our loved ones. Now you want to lecture me about this or you want to go get her?â
âThis conversation isnât over.â Steve insisted. He ran from the room to get changed, while he did his phone rang. He answered even though he didnât recognize the number.
âCaptain Rogers, we have something of yours.â A disguised voice said on the other end.
âIâve noticed.â Steve commented. He tucked his cellphone into the crook of his neck and tugged on the pants to his uniform. âI suppose this is the part where you give me your list of demands?â He huffed.
âWe want only one thing, you.â The voice explained.
âWell, thatâs good, because you were getting me whether you wanted or not. Congratulations, whoever you are, youâve officially got my attention. Now youâre going to wish that you hadnât.â Steve hung up on the kidnapper, finished dressing and grabbed his shield.

Star Spangled Flash Bingo
Wohoo this is our first flash bingo and it will run from January 18th to April 18th - we might do another after that depending on the success of this one and how our schedules look by then. Consider this a trial for both you guys and us.Â
Letâs get some questions out of the way first:Â
Can I sign up for the flash bingo if I havenât signed up for a full card?
Yes you absolutely can. Just like you can sign up for this one as well as the other.Â
Can fill a square from my regular card and one with this one with the same fic?
Yes if you double the acquired wordcount. The same goes for every other media. Just double the minimum and youâre good. Â
Will we receive a badge for blacking out a flash card?
You betcha
Can I sign up for more than one flash bingo card?
Afraid not. Not this first time around at least. You have to pick one and commit to it. HOWEVER if you finish long before the flash is over and contact us via ask we might be able to let you sign up for a second flash card ;)
Important Dates for Flash Bingo
Sign Ups: Starts Jan 18th and closes March 18th 2021
Last chance to post a flash fic: April 10th 2021
Last chance to post masterlist and request a badge: April 18th
All blackouts receive a badge and will join our hall of fame under flash bingo participants 2021
General rules for the Bingo is the same as for the main bingo but letâs repeat them shall we:
Purpose of the Bingo
The focus is still the three caps but each card comes with a few challenges on its own. Scroll down to find a link to the cards and the rules for each.Â
All Bingo cards are SFW as a rule but that doesnât mean you arenât allowed to write smut if you are over the age of 18. We just want to give every writer a chance to participate no matter if they write smut or not (hey that rhymed).Â
Restrictions
- No abusive ships are allowed. Some ships like Winteriron can be abusive if you focus on the negative but can also be based on healing, therefore they are a grey zone and fall under think about what you write, if you chose a pairing such as that one. Shipping Bucky with Rumlow will always be abusive and as a rule no villains shipped with heroes allowed. (Loki might be an exception cause he is a grey character, just think before you write with him too).
-No pairing an adult with an underage character. No aging up or down. This goes for side pairings as well so no Starker!
- No incest - that goes for Thorki as a sidepairing as well. Adopted or not they grew up as brothers.
- No non/dub con are allowed either.Â
- You canât write smut if you are under the age of 18. If we catch you doing so you will be blocked from the bingo page and banned for participating.
- You canât write smut if you are under 18. Everyone can write fluff, angst, crack, etc.
Formats and requirements
- Fics must state what square you fill, warnings, word count and pairing - if no pairing just write general (check the format page for ideas on how to format your post)
- Social Media AUs, Aesthetics, Edits, Fanart, Fanvids, podfics must have square filled, pairing and if needed warnings.Â
- Everything you post as a fill must be original and new content - or if you read someoneâs fic as a podfic explicit consent from the author must have been given and they have to be credited on your post.Â
- Fics must have a minimum of 250 words - fics over 500 must have a keep reading to be reblogged.Â
- Use common sense for when posting artworks into long posts. They might need a cut too.
- Aesthetics have a 4 picture minimum and preferably accompanied by a 100-word description or drabble - words are not a must
- Gifsets has a 6 picture minimum.
- One piece of fanart in form of a drawing by hand or a computer program is considered a fill.Â
- Social media Aus must be a min of 6 pictures.Â
- Podfics must be a min of 3 min.
- Fanvids must be a min of 30 sec.Â
- All content can be added via link not to an original Tumblr post if you so choose as long as there is a Tumblr post with the format requirements we can reblog and the Tumblr post must be linked too on the masterlist you create when your card is filled.Â
- IF WE FORGOT YOUR TYPE OF ARTWORK SEND US AN ASK AND WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO WORK SOMETHING OUT - we are pretty open to all types of creative outlets but itâs hard to put restrictions of stuff we donât know or know very little about.
- One square per fic/artwork. If you write a series each chapter can be considered a fill or the entire series can be a fill if you so choose. No combining squares within the bingo.
- You are free to combine our bingo with another bingo with no additional requirements added from our end. Just make sure you follow the other bingos rules too.Â
- If you combine with our main bingo though we ask you double the minimum requirement of your chosen media for it to count as a fill for both. Otherwise we will ask you to choose.Â
- Warn accordingly. If warnings are spoilers put them in the tags and tell people to check your tags for additional warnings on the post.
- You donât have to use the same media for the entire card. You can have 3 fics and 1 vid and the rest fics fx.
- Tag us @star-spangled-bingo and make clear the fic is for SSB SPRING FLASH 2021 and use the #SSB Spring Flash2021 on each square you fill.
Sanctions for breaking the rules
- If your post lacks a keep reading we wonât reblog it but it will still count as a fill.
- If you donât tag us we canât reblog you and if you donât say itâs for SSB2020 in your header we wonât count it as a fill until you edited it into the post. This seems strict but we got 2019 floating and it is impossible to know which card what is for if you donât mark it down for us.Â
- If your fill fail to meet the minimum requirements your fill will be reblogged but wonât count as a fill unless you add to it to meet the minimum.Â
- If your post doesnât clearly show square filled, we wonât reblog it and it wonât count as a fill until you edited it in.Â
- If we discover you write smut and are under 18 - you will be blocked from the bingo blog and banned from participating in the bingo in the future even when you reach the age of 18.Â
- If you break this rule: No abusive ships are allowed. No pairing an adult with an underage character. No aging up or down. No incest and no glorification of non/dub con are allowed either. All of these go for side pairing also so no Thorki and Starker. Your post wonât count as a fill, nor will it be reblogged. Youâll get a reminder of our rules the first time you break it and the second you will be banned from the bingo.

Life Hack

Written for: @star-spangled-bingoâ 2021!  (& All Caps Flash Bingo!)  Words: 1970 SSB Square Filled: Alternate Universe AU All Caps Flash Square Filled: Science Experiment  Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader Warnings: None, E for everyone!  Summary: Tony & Steve have created a Youtube channel both as a way for the Team to stay busy & for them to communicate with the outside world. Participation is highly encouraged and when Reader finds out Bucky hasnât contributed to a single video yet, they enlists his help in testing out some life hacks.Â

âWhat are we doing again?â Bucky questioned. He was standing next to you in the makeshift recording Studio Tony had built in an unused office.
âMaking a video for the Youtube channel.â You commented. You inventoried the items on the table in front of you and made sure you had everything you needed.
âAnd why are we doing that?â Bucky grumbled.
âBecause Tony and Steve want everyone to contribute to the channel.â It would surprise no one that the idea to start an Avengers Youtube channel had been Tony Starkâs idea. Actually, the team had always had one, as far back as the early shield days. It was more for publicity. Things like showcasing highlights from non-classified missions, charity events and press conferences were the types of clips that were typically uploaded. There were even occasional interviews from new members as they joined the team.
After the virus had struck, Steve and Tony had been looking for more ways to connect with the public. Tony wanted to have a way to talk with civilians about the real science of everything. While Steveâs motivations were a little more home grown. He wanted to give people on the outside a chance to see what life was like for the Avengers. He wanted people to know that the team was just as suspectable to the virus as the public and that the public could have as much of an impact on fighting this thing as the Avengers did.
âPeter may have let it slip that you havenât contributed one video to the channel since we started it months ago.â You explained to Bucky. âI know cameras arenât exactly youâre thing so I figured you could help me out with my segment today. Plus, youâre my favorite.â You said before tapping him on the nose with your index finger. âReady?â
âDo I have a choice?â He complained beside you. You nodded to Peter who was standing behind the camera and began the videoâs intro.
âHey everyone! Itâs [Y/N] here with another segment of the Avengers Quarantine Fifteen! Thatâs where we give you a fifteen-minute glimpse into what itâs like here at the Avengerâs Compound in Washington, DC.! Today I have a special guest with me, in his Youtube debut, Sergeant Bucky Barnes!â You paused to indicate Bucky who was standing next to you.
âHey.â He nodded to the camera and offered it an awkward half wave.
âOkay, everyone,â You said looking into the camera. âI know weâre all bored out of our minds. Weâve been quarantining or sheltering in place for what feels like forever! I have to admit Iâve become addicted to watch those weird life hack videos; Buck you know the ones Iâm talking about?â You asked him.
âI have no idea what youâre talking about.â He shrugged. He looked past the camera at Peter who tried to wave his attention away.
âDonât worry you will very soon. For those of you at home who, like Bucky, have no idea what Iâm talking about, a life hack is something thatâs supposed to make things easier.â You explained.
âLike waterproofing your shoes with beeswax?â Bucky asked excitedly. âThat really works!â He insisted.
âYes, like that.â You nodded. âSo today weâre going to be testing out if these internet hacks actually work in a little game I like to call Helpful or Hustle. Okay, here we go.â You pressed play on a video that youâd already queued up on your iPad.
âIs Parker just going to film us watching a video for fifteen minutes?â Bucky asked you with uncertainty. You couldnât help but laugh. Â
âNo.â You told him. âWeâre gonna watch the hack first, then weâre going to try and recreate it.â
âBut they canât see it.â He commented pointing to the camera.
âTheyâll see if after. In editing.â You assured.
âIâll take care of everything Sergeant Barnes!â Peter called from behind the camera.
âThereâs no way that works!â Bucky commented. Together the two of you watch the first hack where a woman deflated a balloon around a phone to act like a protective case. âThey think because itâs made of rubber itâs going to protectâŠDo we have balloons?â He looked down at the table. I want to try this!â
You handed Bucky a balloon and an older cellphone that no one was using anymore. He began to inflate it immediately. At first it took Bucky a few tries to deflate the balloon like the woman in the video did. His initial attempts left him with a completely flat balloon, but after realizing he had to release the air more slowly, He had a rubber seal around the device. Bucky held the phone in his vibranium hand before letting it drop several feet the floor. You both heard the distinct sound of touch screen glass shattering.
âWell, Bucky, Helpful or Hustle?â You questioned as he bent down to pick the phone up.
âI think you already know the answer, [Y/N].â He said, holding the shattered screen for Peter to capture on camera. âI like this game. Whatâs next?â
âBack to the video.â You said, pointing to the iPad. You both watched the next âhackâ Which involved filling a balloon with hot glue, tying it off and then using it as a sink stopper.
âI mean I guess that works.â He commented, scratching the back of his head. âBut you know what else works?â He looked into the camera. âFixing your sink so it has a stopper. If you canât fix it yourself, hire a plumber. Thatâs a Hustle, next!â He pressed play again.
âI think youâre going to like this one.â You told him. You watch a video of someone blowing up a balloon using a water bottle, a funnel, vinegar and baking soda.
âTell me we have the stuff to do this one.â He asked excitedly. âI very much want to know if this works.â
You and Bucky each picked up a balloon. You poured a cup of baking soda into each of the balloons using the funnel. You then filled the water bottle about halfway with vinegar. You had to guess with the measurements as the hack hadnât provided them.
âParker, youâre a science kid, is this safe?â Bucky asked Peter as you portioned out the vinegar.
âItâs what most schools use to make volcanos. Should be fine.â Peter nodded.
You and Bucky stretch the end of your balloons over the mouth of your water bottles. You nodded, and on your signal you both held up the balloon so that the baking soda dumped from the balloon into the vinegar. Almost immediately the balloons began to expand.
â[Y/N] look! Itâs actually working!â Bucky exclaimed with disbelief.
âWell, I think this is as good a place as any to leave things. Iâm afraid to see what happens when we try to remove these balloons. Iâm [Y/N]âŠâ You left a pause for Bucky.
âAnd Iâm Bucky!â He said, thins time giving the camera an animated wave.
âThis has been the Avengersâ Quarantine Fifteen!â You called, peering over your expanding balloon.
âCut!â Peter said to let you both know heâd finished recording.
âThat was great you guys!â Peter said enthusiastically. âUh, [Y/N], you might want to take those things outside.â
âGood idea, Parker. Iâll take care of it.â Bucky offered. âThanks for making me do this. I actually had a lot of fun. We should do it again sometime.â He collected both water bottles and carefully escorted them from the room.
âI have a few more things to film and then I can start editing. Iâll let you both know when itâs live.â Peter explained. You thanked him and started cleaning the room so it would be ready for the next person who needed it.

A little time passed, and youâd help some of the other team members film their own segments. Youâd been staying busy doing other things too like raising a quarantine kitten. Yes, even the Avengers were not immune to the desire for new pets after being trapped inside. In hindsight trying to raise a tiny mammal in a giant military compound probably wasnât a good idea, but you and Mittens were adjusting to each other. Youâd almost forgotten about the segment youâd filmed with Bucky until Peter texted you the link one day.
You pressed play and started watching the video. You were surprised to see that Peter had been recording the banter between you and Bucky before youâd officially started filming. He kept every second of it in too, even the part where you booped Bucky on the nose and told him he was your favorite. You felt your cheeks get hot knowing the others were going to razz you about that later.
âHey [Y/N]!â You heard someone calling your name down the hall. You poked your head out of your dorm room door. Bucky was walking towards you.
âDid you see Parker posted our video?â He pointed to his phone.
âYeah, I was just watching it. What did you think?â You asked.
âI havenât watched it yet. Iâve been reading the comments.â He told you. You scrolled through the commented on the video. Your eyes growing wide. It seemed the videos viewers liked seeing Bucky on the channel. They also seemed to really like you and Bucky together.
âI came to ask you, what does âShip Itâ mean?â He said.
âWhere did youâŠâ You assumed heâd read it in the comments and sure enough as you continued to read on there were plenty of posts with things like âWhy and I shipping [Y/N] and Bucky so hard?â and âIâm calling it, Bucky x [Y/N], Iâll go down with this ship and in this TED TalkâŠâ
âWell, Bucky AhâŠâ You fumbled with your words trying to think of exactly how to explain the situation. âShipping is an internet term forâŠâ
âIf you donât want to tell me, I can just ask Parker or his friendâŠEd?â He started to turn.
âNo!â You caught him by the elbow. âTrust me, you do not want to ask anyone else about this one. Shipping is a term people use as a way to say they want two people to be a couple. Sometimes theyâre already a couple or they may not be together any more and people arenât ready to let that go. Itâs usually about fictional characters but sometimes celebrities too.â
âOhâŠOh!â Bucky stared down at this phone with sudden realization. âSo, when theyâre saying that they Ship you and I, theyâre implyingâŠâ
âThat they want us to be a couple, yeah.â You nodded uncomfortably. You wished you could melt into the floor or fly away on a jet pack because the truth was, youâd always had a bit of a crush on Bucky. You never thought heâd be into you. You knew that the opinion of hundreds of people online wasnât going to change anything, but at least someone else had seen a spark, as imaginary as it may be. âItâs a pretty common thing.â You added, trying to fill the awkward air. âLike I might say I ship Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson together because they seem really happy together. I donât really know them, so itâs not really my place to sayâŠâ
âBut I know us. So, would it be completely inappropriate for me to say that I also Ship us?â He questioned, looking up from his phone.
âDoes being in a video on Youtube with the man you that gets tons of people commenting what a cute couple youâd make, so youâre both finally brave enough to admit that you have feelings for each other, count as a Life Hack?â You asked back.
âAs usual, I have no idea what all of that meant, but Iâm going to kiss you now okay?â He asked. You nodded âYesâ in response.

Written for: @star-spangled-bingoâ 2021!  (& All Caps Flash Bingo!)   Words: 1563 All Caps Flash Square Filled: âThatâs Americaâs Ass.â Pairing: Sam Wilson x Reader  Warnings: none Summary: Reader and Sam assigned to film some videos for the Avengerâs various social media accounts. This happens often and with the two friends spending so much time together, will thier friendship turn into something more?

Most of the Avengers treated PR and press events like a chore. It was just something you all had to do, but very rarely wanted to do. You understood why someone like Tony whoâd practically grown up under the mediaâs microscope would feel that way, but you didnât. Of course, you also didnât consider yourself the âA Team.â What had started as a joke between you and Sam Wilson had begun to feel less so over the years. The A Team consisted of the six founding Avengers, everyone who came after that was the B Team.
While the A team was out saving the world, press junkets and creating an online presence often fell into the purview of the B Team. The media team did most of the heavy lifting. They managed everyoneâs twitter, instagram and other social media accounts. You were still expected to contribute here and there but the major responsibly was in appearances. Â They could be in person or otherwise.
âYou know, with Spider kid and the wizard weâve got almost enough people to start a C team.â Sam Wilson commented as he parked his car in the lot where youâd be filming for the day. You and Sam had been tasked with filming a few segments for the Avengerâs Youtube channel.
âWilson, I think weâre the C team.â You sighed, getting out of the car.
âWhy? Just because theyâve got the two of us coming down here to spend our whole Saturday filming videos like âWhat Type of Cat is Your Favorite Avengerâ?â Sam laughed. âYouâre looking at it all wrong, [Y/N]. People like us. Thatâs why we get pulled to do these things so often. They think we have real chemistry.â
âWell, we should. Weâre good friends.â You said, heading into the studio.
âRight, friends.â He mumbled before following after you.
As the day went on you and Sam filmed several videos, some together and some separate. A few of the others drop by for an hour or so each just to add a bit of variety. You and Scott Lang filmed a cooking video together where the entire recipe was in French, a language neither of you spoke. The PR team assured you it would get laughs from the audience while showing that Avengers can do anything even if theyâd never done it before. On one of your breaks, you watch Bucky and Sam film some type of trivia video that involved knife throwing.
At long last, the day was coming to an end you and Sam had just one video left to film together. It had been nice seeing some other faces around the studio, but you knew what Sam had said earlier was true. When looking at the numbers, videos with you or Sam typically performed better than videos with any other B Team Avengers. Videos with the two of you? They rivaled those of Steve or Tony.
âYou doing okay, [Y/N]? That last video looked rough.â Sam asked when you slipped into the stool next to him.
âItâs a miracle nothing caught on fire.â You confessed. âIâm glad Bucky was there because I may have burned the whole studio to the ground on my own. You?â
âIâm ready to get this over with and get some dinner.â He told you.
âAlways thinking about food, Wilson.â You smiled. Someone gave you and Sam the signal so that you knew the cameras were going to start rolling. Once filming began, the producer re-explained the concept of the video. You and Sam were going to be show photos of fellow Avengers and had to guess who was in the photo. It was a nice lighthearted video to go out on.
âSo itâs like a weirdly specific game a Guess Who.â Sam summarized. âOkay letâs do this. The first photo was of an elbow. Immediately Sam started to laugh. âNow câmon yâall! How am I supposed to know who that is?â
âItâs Clint.â You answered without hesitation.
âThatâs correct. This elbow belongs to Clint Barton.â The producer agreed.
âHow the heck?â Sam looked over to you with surprise.
âYou can see bruises on his forearm from his recurve bow.â You pointed to the area of the photo where the bruise was barely visible.
âOkay, well Iâm gonna need to step it up then. Next Picture.â He rubbed his hands together eagerly. The next photo was a zoomed in image of what looked like brunette hair.
âThatâs Bucky!â You exclaimed. âIâd know those chestnut locks anywhere.â
âDo you have an answer sheet over there or something?â Sam questioned. He looked around the set, pretending to search for an answer sheet written somewhere.
âNo, but we did just have lunch today so maybe heâs fresh on my mind. Tell you what Iâll let you get a head start on the next one.â You offered. The photo changed to someoneâs backside. Almost immediately you recognized a pair of what could only be described as âdad khakis.â You knew that derriere could only belong to one Avenger. Sam took a few minutes to scrutinize the photo before looking to you.
âGo ahead.â He said impatiently. âI can see you biting your lip over there trying to hold back.â
âI-ahâŠâ You realized he was right, youâd been biting your lip since the producer changed the image. âCâmon Sam, itâs an obvious one!â You gestured towards the photo trying to help him out.
âObviously not!â Sam quipped.
âThat is Americaâs Ass!â You said, leaping up of your stool. Sam began to laugh again. âCanât you tell thatâs Steve?â
âWell excuse me for not knowing what all of my co-workers butts look like!â He chuckled. The producer changed the photo again and announced it would be the last one. This time the photo was a close up of an eye. It was a beautiful eye with slight flecks of gold towards the edges. It was gorgeous, but it was ruining your perfect streak because you couldnât identify who the eye belonged to.
âCmon!â Sam was grinning widely now. âYou donât know whose eye that is?â
âOh, and you do?â You raised an eyebrow at him and laughed. âYou havenât gotten one of these right yet!â
âAs a matter of fact, I know exactly who those eyes belong to. Those stunning eyes belong to the equally as stunning [Y/N].â Sam answered confidently.
âCorrect. [Y/N], those are your eyes.â The producer agreed. You and Sam wrapped up the video, by filming a quick outro. After getting all clear from producers, you and Sam were done for the day. You left the studio and walked back towards his car.
âYou know itâs crazy how observant you are.â Sam commented. âI mean that thing about Clint, that wasnât scripted right? Or did you actually notice that?â
âNo of course it wasnât scripted.â You answered. Youâd reached his car by now. The two of you were talking to each other over the hood of his car. âBut I mean I obviously wasnât that observant. I didnât recognize my own eyes. What an idiot.â
âYouâre not an idiot, youâre just not used to looking at your own eyes. Who is?â Sam shrugged from the other side of the vehicle.
âAre you saying that you knew those were my eyes because youâre used to staring at them?â You teased him.
âI been lost in them a time or two.â He confessed casually. You felt your cheeks flush at the compliment.
âIâm glad we got to spend the day together, Sam. Believe it or not, I look forward to our Saturday Studio dates.â You said before getting into the passengerâs seat of Samâs car.
âYou know,â Sam opened his driverâs side door and leaned into the car. âWe could make it an official date. Iâm thinking dinner and a movie?â
âA date with the oh so charming Sam Wilson?â You questioned in an old timey Southern Belle voice. âIf I should be so lucky!â
âAlright, alright, it was just a suggestion.â He shook his head and climbed behind the steering wheel. âYou donât have to mock me.â
âSam, I wasnât trying to mock you.â You promised very seriously. âIâd love to go on a date with you.â
âYou donât have to pity me.â Sam said, a smirk already working its way onto his face as he back out of his parking spot. You reached over and put your left hand on his right knee.
âIâm not pitying you, but I am a little exhausted, so youâll have to forgive me if this comes off as less than authentic. Iâve been hoping that youâd ask me on a date since Steve first introduced us. I even though about asking you out a few times, but then we started working together more and I didnât want to jeopardize our friendship or make it awkwardâŠâ
âAwkward?â Sam repeated. âImpossible, we go together like Peanut butter and jelly!â
âI donât like jelly.â You told him wrinkling up your face in disgust.
âWhat about Nutella? You like Nutella? Of course, you do, everybody does. Weâll be peanut butter and Nutella then.â He amended his statement.
âMmm now I kind of want peanut butter and Nutella crepes.â You hummed, imagining the sweet flavorful pastry.
âWell, lucky for you, I know an amazing creperie on the other side of town. Itâs a perfect place for our first date.â He decided.

What Happens Next?

Written for: @star-spangled-bingoâ 2021!  (& All Caps Flash Bingo!)  Words: 947 All Caps Flash Square Filled: âWhat do you think Iâve been doing?â Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader  Warnings: Some swearing Summary: Reader was left behind during The Blip while Bucky had been among the disappeared. It had been hard for Reader to adjust to life without him, but theyâre finding it even harder to adjust to life now that heâs returned.Â

The Blip. Thatâs what officials had been calling it. Who were the officials? You didnât know. It sure as hell wasnât the team. There werenât enough members of the team left to name or create anything. It had been hard walking away from everything after Thanos was gone for good. Youâd originally become an Avenger for the same reason the others did. You wanted to save the world. Problem was, there wasnât much of a world to be saved after the final snap. So when Thanos fell, in a way so did the Avengers.
âYouâve been staring at that same page an awful long time.â Your husband commented. You looked up from the book youâd been pretending to read. It had been a few months since everything had ended. The two of you had been trying to give civilian life your best shot. The truth was, you were struggling more than he was and he knew it.
âItâs a good book.â You commended with a shrug.
âI donât think thatâs what it is.â He frowned. âYou want to talk about it?â
âTalk about the book?â You asked. âItâs just Twilight; New Moon. You donât want to talk about it.â
âNo, I meant do you want to talk about whatâs on your mind.â He offered.
âIâm fine, Hon.â You reached over and held Buckyâs hand. âI was just reading the part of the book where Edward left Bella. It brought up some stuff about The Blip and I got a little lost on my head. Thatâs all.â
â[Y/N], you know I didnât leave you on purpose...â Bucky began, his voice weighed down with guilt.
âOf course, I know that.â You answered trying not to snap at him. This was exactly the kind of conversation youâd wanted to avoid. The love of your life had disappeared for five years. Along with some of your best friends and hundreds of thousands of other people. When they came back everyone from the Blip looked exactly the same. To them it even felt like no time at all had passed. While those of you whoâd been left behind had to keeping living and aging. âItâs not like Thanos gave us a choice. âHey did you want to be Blippedâ?â
âIâm sorry [Y/N]âŠâ Bucky tried again.
âWhy are you apologizing?â You slammed your book closed. âI already told you, Iâm fine!â
âWell, your words are saying your fine, but your tone is saying you want to strangle me.â He answered back calmly.
âI donâtâŠitâs not you.â You sighed. âThereâs nothing you can do, Buck. I just have to get through this on my own.â
âHey, Iâm here now.â He said reaching for your other hand. âI know it seems crazy, I have a bad habit of disappearing, but Iâm not going anywhere. Iâm here and weâll get through this together.â
âTogether!â You scoffed. You pulled both your hands away and got up from the couch. âDonât you see there is not together Bucky. The Blip practically changed nothing for you! You said it yourself you came right back, it felt like only a few seconds had passed. To people who were left behind? It changed everything! I waited two years for you to come back. Two years before I had to accept that I was never going to see you again. Steve tried his best to help. He gave us all these speeches about how the people who were gone wouldnât want us to stop living. Then it turns out that was all bullshit because the first chance he had, he got the hell out of Dodge and snuck back in time.â You were pacing the length of the room now ranting about all the things that youâd been holding in for months.
âRogers was doing the best that he could. You were all doing what you needed to in order to survive.â Bucky took advantage of your pause to interject. âSam said the people who were left behind in the Blip have some of the worst cases of PTSD theyâve ever seen. Itâs going to take a lot of work to repair that kind of damageâŠâ
âWhat do you think Iâve been doing?â You snapped. âIâm trying to ignore the fact that Iâm five years older and you came back looking not a day older. Not that I ever thought weâd age the same rate butâŠLook itâs not like Iâm just trying to go back to what we had. I knew there was going to be an adjustment period. But itâs not that easy to open back up to someone after youâve stopped loving them.â You immediately brought a hand up to your mouth. Youâd accidentally confessed something you hadnât even admitted to yourself yet.
âBuckâŠJames IâŠâ You stammered.
âItâs okay.â He told you, not moving from the couch. âI asked you to open up. I could tell somethingâs been bothering you for a while I justâŠdidnât imagine it was that.â
âIâm sorry. Iâm so, so, sorry.â You mumbled, tears filling in your eyes.
âHey, donât be.â He insisted, his tone soft and understanding. âItâs okay. Weâll get through this. Whatever you need.â
âI need a break.â You told him quietly.
âOkay.â Bucky nodded. He rose to his feet. âIâll go pack. Iâll stay with Sam.â
âNo.â You insisted. Your tears spilled over, leaving a trail down your cheeks. âYouâre still my best friend. I donât want to be alone here. I just need a break from trying so hard.â
âLike I said, whatever you need.â He agreed. âWould it be alright for me to offer you a hug, as your best friend?â He offered.
âIâd like that very much.â You nodded.

Iâll Be Seeing You

Written for: @star-spangled-bingoâ 2021!  (& All Caps Flash Bingo!)    Words: 1526 All Caps Flash Square Filled: Learning Together Pairing: Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes (Stucky) Warnings: none, all content SFW. Summary: Bucky and Steve go on their first camping trip together in ninety years. When Steve forgets to pack his own tent, the cool night air turns steamy...
âYou two all ready for your big camping trip?â Sam asked Bucky and Steve as they loaded up the latterâs SUV.
âSure, you donât want to come with us?â Steve offered again as he stuffed two extra-large sleeping bags into his trunk.
âAm I sure I donât want to be out in the hot sun for three days with nothing but mosquitos and Lyme disease?â Sam laughed. âYeah, Iâm sure. Besides, someoneâs got to protect and service while you two are out in the woods playing Rambo.â Sam wished both his friends a safe trip before jogging back inside the compound.
âWhich one of us is Rambo?â Steve asked Bucky.
âGet in the car, Rogers.â Bucky shook his head. He hopped into the front passengerâs seat and waited for Steve to slip behind the steering wheel.
âThis is nice.â Steve gripped the steering wheel eagerly. âWhen was the last time we went camping together?â
âTwenty-Nine? Maybe? That one year we were in the scouts.â Bucky tried to recall.
âSo, a solid ninety years ago? This will be fun.â Steve seemed confident. He started his vehicle and began piloting it out of the Compoundâs long driveway. They still had a journey ahead of themselves until they reached the nearest campground in Virginia.
âYou know, Shuri taught me that you can put music on these things?â Bucky indicated his smartphone. âSo I asked her to help me do it. This is one of my favorite songs.â He tapped on the first song in the playlist.
As the song began to play on the SUV speakers, Steve was first impressed that Buck had figured out how to work the Bluetooth thing in his car. He then began to listen to the song. It was Iâll Be Seeing You this particular recording was being sung by Billie Holiday and still had that microphone crackle that all old recording once had. The song went on to say how Billie would be seeing someone in all their old familiar places. Lovely summerâs days, the moon and even the park. Steve understood why Bucky would like the song so much. It was how heâd always felt about his best friend.
There wasnât a day that went by when Steve didnât think of Bucky. Not before or during the war and certainly not after. He often found himself âseeingâ Bucky everywhere he went. Whether it was imagining the two of them dining together in a small cafĂ© or strolling together down a Brooklyn street. But you donât have to pretend anymore. He reminded himself as the song reached its conclusion.
âNow this next one is because I know how much you like the movies.â The unmistakable tune of Somewhere Over the Rainbow began to play next. Steve couldnât help but sing along.
âThereâs a land that Iâve heard of, once in a lullaby. Câmon Buck, Sing with me!â He insisted.
âIâm not going to do that.â Bucky frowned.
âItâs just us, who are you trying to impress?â Steve laughed. âSomeday Iâll wish upon a starâŠâ
âAnd wake up where the clouds are far behindâŠâ Bucky crooned reluctantly.
âThatâs it!â Steve nodded, encouragingly. âThatâs where youâll find me!â
Bucky always hated singing, but music and movies made Steve happy. Especially back in the pre-serum days when he was weak, nothing brought a smile to Steve Rogers like belting out his favorite tune. So Bucky was going to suffer the entire four hour car ride to the camp ground just to watch his best friend light up beside him. Heâd known for almost a century that heâd do anything for Steve Rogers.
âWell, here we are.â Bucky announced as if Steve wasnât the one following the GPS directions to their campsite. Steve parked his SUV in the designated parking spot and the two began unloading their gear. âShould we start with the tents first or get a fire going?â
âI say divide and conquer.â âSteve breathed. âGet the most out of what little daylight we have left. Iâll pitch the tents and you can get the firewood?â
âLast one to finish has to cook dinner?â Bucky suggested.
âBring it on.â Steve agreed.
While Steve dug around in the trunk of the SUV, looking for the tents, Bucky skulked off into the woods in search of firewood. Twenty minutes later, Bucky had a decent pile of wood gathered and started building his fire. He noticed Steve had managed to only set up one tent so far.
âRogers, where are you sleeping this weekend?â He asked nodding at the single tent.
âYeah, about thatâŠâ Steve rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. âApparently we only packed one tent.â
âThatâs my tent.â Bucky commented, continuing to work on his fire. âSo really, itâs not that we only packed one tent itâs that you didnât pack any tent.â
âIt appears that way.â Steve sighed, dropping his hand to his side.
âDonât worry Rogers, my parents taught me how to share. Thereâs plenty of room for both of us.â Bucky smiled and turned back to his fire which he was just about to light.
âOnly seems fair I cook dinner.â Steve offered. âIâll finish setting up camp. That give you enough time to finish the fire?â
âFireâs finished.â Bucky said, fanning at his small spark. After a few seconds, he produced a small flame. âAll thatâs left to do is kick back and watch you cook.â
Bucky set up the two foldable chairs Steve had managed to excavate from the back of the SUV and took a seat. He was sure to angle his chair so that he could watch Rogers single handedly unpack their equipment. It wasnât a particularly warm night, but carrying the equipment certainly had Steve sweating. He peeled off his sweat soaked shirt before hefting their cooler out of the vehicle.
âYou know Rogers,â Bucky commented getting out of his seat to remove a beer from the cooler. âIâm not that hungry. He twisted the top off his drink and pressed the bottle to his lips.
âWe havenât eaten all day.â Steve huffed as he watched his friend down the cold beverage. âHow can you not be hungry?â Bucky just shrugged in response. âWe could skip dinner and go right to campfire songsâŠâ Steve teased.
âIâd literally rather chop my good arm off.â Bucky countered.
âFine, fine.â Steve shook his head in surrender. âWhatâs your opinion on sâmores?â
âYouâre not going to stop until I do one of these manufactured-idealized camping moments with you, are you?â
âIâm not going to force your hand BuckâŠâ Steve laughed.
âWhere are the marshmallows?â Bucky rolled his eyes.
Three bags of marshmallows, several chocolate bars and a sunset later, Bucky and Steve sat in their folding chairs and watched their fire die down. Bucky stretched and yawned, now full of gelatin, sugar, crackers and chocolate he was ready for bed. Steve couldnât help himself but yawn too.
âReady to hit the hay?â He asked his best friend.
âYeah I could call it.â Bucky agreed.
He got to his feet and made his way over to the tent. Bucky kicked off his shoed and climbed into the tent. Steve followed him. He turned on their magnetic tent light so that they could get ready for bed. As both men stripped down their boxes, Steve noticed for the first time to amount of scars covering his best friendâs body. He couldnât help but wonder what the hell was strong enough to scar a super soldier.
âTake a picture, itâll last longer.â Bucky commented sarcastically. He felt uncomfortable under Steveâs gaze.
âI-I wasnâtâŠI JustâŠâ Steve fumbled for an explanation. Bucky watched his friendâs cheeks flush in the dim lighting. The two were so close together in the tent they could practically feel each otherâs breath.
âOh these old things?â Bucky joked. He trailed one scar that ran across his chest and up over his shoulder. âMost of âem donât hurt much anymore.â
âWhat about the other ones?â Steve sighed, his breath shaky. Â
âYou get used to it.â Bucky shrugged.
âCould IâŠâ Steve reached out cautiously. His fingers brushed the same scar that Buckyâs had just traveled. His friend shivered slightly at the touch. âSorryâŠâ Steve started to pull back, but Bucky caught his wrist.
âitâs okay, Iâm not made of glass.â He said in a gruff tone.
The two men locked eyes. Bucky wasnât sure if he leaned into Steve or if Steve had moved towards him, But the two men shared a silent agreement as they pressed their lips together. It was everything Bucky had been dreaming of since before the war. Bucky moved his arms so that he was holding Steve and just as he was about to part his lips, he felt Steveâs hands push his shoulders away.
âIâm sorry!â Bucky apologized immediately.
âNo, No.â Steve mumbled rubbing Buckyâs shoulders. âIâm sorry. Itâs justâŠIâve never done something like this before.â
âNeither have I. Do you want to stop?â Bucky asked with genuine concern.
âNo.â Steve answered.
âCan we just, ah, take it slow?â Steve bit his lip.
âAs slow as you want, Baby.â Bucky promised, gong back in for another kiss.

Character Study

Written for: @star-spangled-bingoââ 2021!  (& All Caps Flash Bingo!)   Words: 835 All Caps Flash Square Filled: Hologram Pairing: None, general fic  Warnings: none Summary: With all the Avengers officially moved into the Compound, the old Tower is being turned into a museum. Reader is a Stark Industries employee tasked with creating holograms of each Avenger. Thatâs when she meetâs Captain America for the first time.
âSâcuse me, Maâam?â You smiled when you saw Steve Rogers looming by your lab door. âI hope âm not interrupting anythingâŠâ
âNot at all.â You assured him with a smile. âYouâre my next victim. Câmon in.â You waved him inside the lab. âCaptain Rogers, my name is [Y/N] [Y/L/N]. I obviously know youâre name, and I work for Mr. Stark indirectly at Stark Industries. We all have a bit of free range to work on what we want within reason. My area of expertise is artificial intelligences.â
âArtificial? Like F.R.I.D.A.Y. and Vision?â Steve asked.
âExactly. Did anyone explain to you why youâre here?â You questioned.
âNot exactly no.â Steve frowned. âI know it has something to do with the museum.â
âYes.â You nodded. âAs you know Mr. Stark has decided the former Avengersâ Tower will now be turned into a museum. It was really important to him that we find a way for it to feel like the Avengers are there at the museum interacting with guests without you actually having to be there every day.â
âIâm guessing thatâs where the artificial intelligence comes into play.â Steve surmised.
âYou got it.â You agreed. âMr. Stark said youâd require a lot of explanation but I think I got more questions from Dr. Banner.â
âIâve learned when it comes to modern technology, I rarely understand most of it so thereâs no point in asking.â He shrugged.
âWell, if you do have any questions, Iâm happy to explain anything.â You clapped your hands together to get down to business. âSo, this should be a quick and easy afternoon for you. The first thing weâre going to do is two full body scans. One of you in your uniform and one without. Maybe three? One with the shield? People love the shield. Lastly Iâll have you record a few lines and thatâll be it.â
âHow does taking pictures help with feeling like the Avengers are really there?â Steve wondered.
âHow familiar are you with holograms, Captain?â You asked him.
âHolograms? Theyâre those kinds of blue three-dimensional things, right? Like when Tony uses his computer without the computer?â Steve explained it the best way that he could.
âThatâs usually how they look in movies and TV shows.â You agreed. âBut think of it like the Iron Legion compared to The Vision. The Iron Legion had artificial intelligences sure, but Vision is a more refined high functioning AI.â
âSo, your holograms are going to be more refined than what people are used to seeing?â Steve wanted to make sure it was following along.
âThatâs right.â You nodded again. âThatâs why the body scans are so important. I want my holograms to be so realistic that someone coming to the museum wouldnât feel like theyâre talking to the real Captain Rogers. Are you ready?â
âAbsolutely, Maâam. You just tell me where you need me.â Steve put his cowl on and picked up his shield.
âRight into the scanner.â You gestured to a raised platform in the center of the lab. âIt shouldnât take more than a few minutes, but I have to ask you to stay completely still until I give you the okay to move again.â
Steve stepped up to the platform. You instructed him to up straight and reminded him once again to stand completely still. The Captain barely moved an inch while your high-definition cameras began circling around him. After two minutes you gave him all clear. Â He handed his shield down to you and you repeated the process again without his shield. When the second set of photos was complete, the Captain stepped down from platform taking a break. He heaved a great sigh, allowing his muscles to relax.
âThat was good.â You told him. âJust one more times and we move onto voice recording.â
âCan I see what it looks like?â He asked.
âSorry Cap, if I showed it to you now, it would just be a bunch of photos.â You apologized. âBut I have been working on the others. I can show you Mr. Starkâs hologram. He canât talk to you just yet, but at least youâll get a good idea of what Iâm aiming for.â
You tapped a few buttons on your keyboard and suddenly Tony Stark appeared in the room, standing next to Steve. Of course, it wasnât the real Tony but his hologram. Hologram Tony stared blankly ahead, with his arms at his sides.
âAll of this is from pictures?â Steve remarked. He studied the hologram closely. âThis is incredible! Itâs like heâs standing here with us.â
âImagine how impressive heâll be when he can speak for himself.â You tapped the keys again and hologram Tony disappeared.
âIâm not sure I want him too.â Steve chuckled. Â âOkay, you need one more set of photos from me right?â
âRight.â You nodded. âThis time with no clothes on, for science of course.â You insisted.
âIâve done worse things for science than undress in front of a nice girl.â Steve smiled as he began to undress.

Stuck With You

Written for: @star-spangled-bingoââ 2021!  (& All Caps Flash Bingo!)    Words: 437  All Caps Flash Square Filled: Playful Relationship Pairing: None, General Fic Warnings: none, all content SFW. Cast of Characters: Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes Summary: Sam and Bucky are put in charge of moving equipment from the old Avengers HQ to the new one.Â
âHere, I got you a coffee.â Sam said as he handed Bucky a paper cup. They were on a road trip reluctantly helping Tony move some things from the old Avengers Tower to the New Compound. Theyâd been on the road for just under an hour and had to stop for gas.
âDid you put in on the company card?â Bucky asked as Sam started the car. âThen you didnât really get me a coffee. Stark did.â Still, he brought the plastic lid to his lips. Sam was just pulling out of the gas station when he saw Bucky spitting out the window.
âDid you just spit out the window? What are you, fifteen?â He demanded.
âWhat the hell is this?â Bucky gestured to the paper cup.
âGas station coffee, man.â Sam laughed. âItâs not the best but itâs also not poison. You canât be spitting out of the car like that, itâs obscene.â
âNo.â Bucky shook his head. âNo, whatâs obscene is giving a man straight black coffee from a gas station.â He grimaced.
âMy bad.â Sam shrugged. âI just figured black coffee goes along with your wholeâŠya know.â Sam waved his right hand around dramatically. âVibe.â
âMy vibe? Thatâs not how you order a damn coffee, Wilson.â Bucky grumbled. He dropped the coffee down in an empty cup holder. This caused hot coffee to splash in every direction, with a small amount even landing on Samâs hand.
âWill you settle down?â Sam hissed, shaking his burnt hand. âI swear my nephews behave better on road trips. Thereâs cream and sugar in the bag.â Sam pointed to a small paper bag between them.
âYou should have just said that in the first place.â Bucky pouted. âOhâŠI think we were supposed to take that exit.â Bucky announced when it was too late and Sam had already missed the turn.
âYou have the GPS. What do you mean you think?â Sam hissed.
âHang on! Let me check!â Bucky snapped. âPeople these days always in a rushâŠâ
âIn a rush?â Sam huffed. âYou made us miss the turn with your coffee drama.â
âAlright!â Bucky raised his voice. âIâm looking.â
âWell look faster!â Sam snapped.
âYou can still take the next exit.â Bucky huffed. âJust turn hereâŠI said turn here!â
âIf you raise your voice at me one more timeâŠâ Sam mumbled under his breath.
âYou asked me for directions, Iâm giving you the directions!â Bucky argued.
âWell, you can stop now!â Sam complained.
âFine. I wonât say another word.â Bucky shook his head. A beat passed, he reached for his cup again. He took a sip. âThis coffee sucks.â

Domino Effect

Written for: @star-spangled-bingoâ 2021: All Caps Flash Bingo! Words: 516 All Caps Flash Square Filled: Caught In The Rain Pairing: Sam Wilson x Reader Warnings: None, E for everyone! Summary: Reader and Sam are on a road trip when their tire gets a flat. Reader is not happy when they find out Sam didn't pack a spare. From their itâs a domino effect of âWhat could possibly go wrong next?âÂ

âOf course, Iâm mad!â You huffed. Â You and your boyfriend were standing outside of his car staring at his rear right tire. It was definitely flat. âWho doesnât bring a spare tire on a road trip?â
âObviously someone who thinks they wonât need it!â Sam countered. âI havenât needed a spare tire once in my life. I take good care of my car. Must have run over a rock or some broken glass.â He looked back at the stretch of road youâd passed for something that may have caused the flat. Â
âRight.â You commented not buying his story.
âCâmon Baby, thereâs no reason to get so upset.â He told you as he pulled his phone out f his pocket. âGPS says nearest town isâŠfour miles away. Thatâs not too bad. We can call a tow truck! Let me justâŠuh ohâŠâ
âWhat now?â You asked, recognizing that you were being a little snippy with him.
âMy phone died.â He confessed quietly.
âHow did you not make sure your phone was charged?â You whined. âItâs okay. We can use myâŠâ
âOhh,â Sam laughed as he took in the expression on your face. âHow did you not make sure your phone was charged?â He mimicked you. âHorse isnât so high over there is it?â He continued to laugh. âAt least we can charge them in here.â He started walking around the car to the driverâs side.
The timing was like something out of a movie. You felt a rain drop on the back of your hand. You turned your hand and caught a second rain drop in your palm. Then another and another. In a matter of seconds, it was pouring rain. You looked over the car at Sam. When the two of you locked eyes, you couldnât help but laugh.
âAt least itâs warm rain.â He called out to you between chuckles.
âDonât say that! Youâll jinx us!â You shouted over the rain with fake horror.
âI thought you like rain!â He yelled back.
âDoesnât mean I want to be stuck in it.â You told him. Sam walked back over to you.
âYou know,â He said, caressing your cheek, âRain like this might take a while for a tow truck to get to us. Low visibility, plenty of time tooâŠâ
âIn the car? What are we fifteen?â You questioned.
âCâmon, itâll be fun.â He insisted.
âAlright.â You agreed.
âAlright!â Sam clapped his hands together excitedly. âYour chariot awaitsâŠâ Sam put his hand on the rear right door. It didnât budge. âNo worries Iâll justâŠâ He moved to the passengerâs side door only to find that it too was locked. Same checked the other two remaining doors too find that they were also locked.
âKeys?â You suggested hopefully. You watched Sam pat himself down several times.
âDonât you have them?â He asked at last.
âYou were driving! Why would IâŠâ You wondered checking your pockets just the same.
â[Y/N], I found the keys but youâre not going to like where they areâŠâ You followed Samâs gaze to the carâs ignition where the key to the car was still inserted.

Homefront Hero

Written for: @star-spangled-bingoâ 2021!  (& All Caps Flash Bingo!)  *Crossover Fic* Words: 1161 All Caps Flash Square Filled: Crossover Pairing: No pairing, general fic! Cast Of Characters: Steve Rogers & Molly McIntire Warnings: None, E for everyone!  Summary: Nine-Year-Old Molly McIntire and her friends are excited for the townâs âHelping From the Homefront.â event. Molly will be performing a special tap solo and the one and Only Captain America is coming to town. Molly wonders if sheâll get a chance to meet the famous Captain since sheâs performing in the show with him.Â

The town of Jefferson, Illinois was deck out in stars and stripes from nearly every visible street corner. The town council had wanted everyone to display their most patriotic decorations as part of an event happing that weekend, âHelping From the Homefront.â The event was going to showcase all of the different ways people could contribute to the war effort from home.
There would be exhibitions on things like the best way to start a victory garden and cooking recipes with substitutions for rationed items. What had most of the town really jazzed up was the War Bond rally that was supposed to kick off on Saturday morning. While intended as a way to encourage folks to buy war bonds the rally would also feature entertainment. Something that had been in short supply since the war had started.
No one was more excited for the rally than nine-year-old Molly McIntire. Not only was Molly getting to perform a tap solo at the rally with the rest of her dance school. The special guest coming to town wasnât a movie star like Melody Moore or a local radio host giving a speech. Instead, it was Captain America! Molly had been seeing clips of Captain America traveling the country selling war bonds during the news reels before movies at the cinema for months. She never dreamed that Jefferson would be lucky enough to host him.
âMolly, do you think youâll get to meet Captain America since youâll be dancing in the show?â One of Mollyâs very best friendâs, Susan, asked. The two girls were walking with their other best friend Linda. They were on their way home from tap rehearsal, their last one before the rally.
âWeâre all dancing in the show.â Linda reminded Susan.
âI know, but Mollyâs the star!â Susan exclaimed.
âI donât know, but I asked Jill to help me curl my hair just in case!â Jill was Mollyâs older sister and though they didnât always get along, even Jill couldnât deny that Captain America was a dreamboat.
âExcuse me, girls.â Molly, Linda and Susan had been so busy chatting about Captain Americaâs visit they did notice a man approaching them from the other end of the street. Theyâd nearly collided with him before he said something.
âSorry!â All three girls apologized.
âItâs alright.â The man assured them. He was wearing a plaid blue and brown button up shirt tucked into a pair of tan slacks. There was something familiar about him, but Molly couldnât quite place it. âWe you girlâs talking about Captain America?â
âYes.â Lind confessed. âWeâre all terribly excited that heâs coming.â
âI imagine you are. He seems like a swell fella.â The man seemed to laugh at a joke only he would understand. âSay Iâm new to town and pretty turned around here. Any chance you could point me in the direction ofâŠâ He paused to glance down at a slip of paper in his hands. â467 Oak Street?â The Three girls exchanged a look.
âMolly isnât that yourâŠâ Susan began to ask but Molly shushed her.
âWhy do you need directions to there?â Molly asked, trying her best to sound inquisitive and not huffy.
âIâm here as part of the War Bonds rally.â The man explained. âThere were some last-minute changes to our accommodations and a few of us are spending the weekend with host families who were kind enough to put us up. Thatâ the address of mine.â
âWe can show you the way.â Molly volunteered. âThatâs my address.â
âWell, thatâs mighty lucky for me then.â The man smiled.
âIâm Molly, thatâs Linda, and Susan.â She introduced.
âYou can call me Steve.â He told her.
âNice to meet you Steve.â Molly smiled. They began walking again towards Mollyâs house.
âSteve, what do you do at War Bond rallies?â Linda asked.
âHave you met Captain America?â Susan questioned.
âI do lots of different things.â Steve shrugged. âMostly I give speeches about why the war bonds are important. Iâve met Captain America once or twice.â He smirked.
âReally?â All three girls exclaimed as they turned onto Oak Street.
âWhatâs he like?â Molly wanted to know.
âSame as everybody else.â Steve insisted.
âThereâs no way.â Susan disagreed. âCaptain America is really strong!â
âWell, here we are.â Molly announced as they reached her address. âEveryone wait here, Iâll go get Mom.â
Molly entered the house to find her Mom had already gathered everyone else in the living room. Jill was sitting on the couch with their five-year-old brother Brad. Their fifteen-year-old brother Ricky was sitting beside them.
âOh, good! Molly, youâre home.â Mom smiled when she spotted Molly. âYouâre just in time to hear my big announcement. Apparently, there was a problem at the hotel some of the folks were staying in and so they asked for volunteers for a few of the people in down to hosts our guests.â
âI know.â Molly told her. âIâve met ours already!â
âYou have? How?â Mom asked.
âHe was lost and happened to run into Susan, Linda and me.â Molly explained. âHeâs waiting outside.â
âOutside?â Mom repeated already walking toward the front door. Sure enough there was a Blonde man standing there, getting bombarded with questions from Linda and Susan. Girls!â Mrs. McIntire called out to Linda and Susan. âWhy donât you head on home. Iâm sure your mothers are looking for you.â
âYes Mrs. McIntire.â Linda and Susan agreed.
âSorry about them.â Mrs. McIntire apologizes. âIâm Helen. Molly tells me youâre our new guest. Why donât you come inside?â
âThatâs me maâam.â Steve nodded. He stepped inside at her invitation. âSorry to be the cause of such trouble, Helen. I told them Iâd be just as fine sleeping in a tent or under the stars, but they were pretty insistent about putting me up somewhere.â
âWell, weâre glad to have youâŠâ Mom smiled.
âSorry! Captain Steve Rogers Maâam.â He introduced himself. âYou can just call me Steve.â
âSay, youâre Captain America!â Ricky exclaimed, running over from the couch.
âNo, heâs not,â Molly argued. âHe just said his name is Steve.â
âCaptain Americaâs real name Steve you idiot.â Ricky argued back.
âRicky!â His mother scolded him. âApologize to your sister.â Ricky mumbled a half-hearted apology to his sister as Jill walked over carrying Brad.
âIâm afraid your brotherâs right, Miss Molly. I am Captain America.â Steve confessed. âThough, Mr. Ricky, I donât appreciate your use of language. If it werenât for Miss. Molly here, Iâd still be lost and turned around somewhere. I owe her big time.â
Molly couldnât believe it. She, Linda and Susan had been so preoccupied with hoping they might meet Captain America that they did even notice heâd been walking with them all along. She knew sheâd have to remember everything that happened at dinner so that she could report it back in Linda and Susan in the morning. She was definitely going to start with the fact that Captain America said he owed her a favor.
