Completed the reference photo for how an akada's internal organs are laid out. Each organ system and their most noteworthy traits will be indicated and explained under the keep reading barrier.

Gray: The nervous system. Rather than being located in the head, an akada's brain is stored in the center of its body, protected on all sides by its shell. This is accompanied by a long central nervous cord that extends up into the eyestalks. All the other nerves in an akada's body branch off of this cord, including the ones situated behind its brain, which loop back around somewhere in the middle. In addition to its different structure, the brain of an akada also functions slightly differently from a human's. Their lives involve a lot less quick, on-the-move decision making than ours do, instead prioritizing a lot more meticulous long-term planning. This means that akada, generally, think about as slowly as they move. An akada's thought output is more about quality over quantity.

Beige: The shell. You probably know what this does. While tucked in, the shell tilts down and the front organs get folded up to make room for the squished-down head. Although akada can pull their heads into their shells, this doesn't do a lot to protect their arms, tail, or skirt. This ability is more or less vestigial, only being used while startled or sleeping.

Light Blue: The respiratory system. This is comprised of one lung that is also technically ten lungs, each one being surrounded by a mesh of muscle tissue that squeezes and unsqueezes them to pump air. This air enters the body through a series of small slits along the top of their faces. Not a lot to say here. Pretty standard set of breathey parts.

Dark Blue: The circulatory system, though every part of it except the heart has been excluded here for simplicity. As you can probably deduce from the color choice, akada have blue blood, using hemocyanin where we use hemoglobin. Again, not much of note.

Red: The digestive system. Akada chew using two distinct sets of teeth: One three-part beak in the front used for crushing, and one two-part radula in the back used for grinding. Though these parts look and act completely differently, they are adapted from the same parts, that being many rows of identical, keratinous spikes that an ancient ancestor species had in their mouths. Also noteworthy here is the camera shutter-esque organ inside of their throat. These are their vocal chords, which use air pumped out of the stomach to produce speech, assisted on the way out by the radula and lips. The organ is fully retracted while eating to make way for food.

Pink: The reproductive system. Typically, akada have two penises and two vaginas, one of each located in pouches in their cheeks. These are also accompanied by twin uteri, attached in the middle by a series of glands I haven't put much thought into the function of. These uteri store fertilized eggs, which are incubated until they are ready to be vomjaculated into the nearest body of water to hatch. It should be noted that, since an akada's reproductive organs are situated behind their teeth, it is very possible, and in fact quite common, for one to accidentally bite their own penis off. Don't worry, it usually grows back.

Green: A slime production gland. Like Earth's gastropods, akada produce slime to make it easier to slide along the ground. This is technically also their urinary system. Out of context, the idea of a species that talks by burping and moves by peeing sounds a bit childish, but you probably wouldn't have realized that had I not pointed it out.

Teal: A spongy water storage/filtration organ with no direct terran equivalent. Aside from the main organ pictured in the drawing, there also exists a layer of similar spongy tissue spread all throughout an akada's skin, acting both as an emergency moisture reserve and a hydrostatic skeleton.

Lady Water Master Yanli, Lady of the Lake

The successor of Shi Wudu as the Water Master. Though Jiang Yanli lacked in cultivation in her mortal life, her actions in life deemed her worthy enough to undergo a Heavenly Calamity and emerge as the new Lady Water Master of the Upper Court.

In the present time, the mortal and cultivation world have not yet realised that the new Lady Water Master is the late Young Madam Jiang/Jin.

Jiang Yanli is known to be one of the gentler, kinder gods among the Upper Court. Unlike her predecessor, she's quite generous with her worshippers regardless of the quantity or quality of their offerings. Aside from her title as the Water Master, she's also recognised as a goddess of abundance, the home, and reconciliation.

Her domain as Water Master are freshwater bodies like rivers and lakes. She often appears to worshippers and believers in dreams set on a pier in a lake full of blooming lotus, thus her moniker Lady of the Lake. Worshippers turn to her for safe travels and successful reunions with loved ones, as well as harmony in the home. After Jin Zixuan's ascension, they are worshipped together for success and happiness in relationships that started off rocky.

She is worshipped across Yunmeng and Lanling. In Yunmeng, she is worshipped either as herself or in a pair with Jin Zixuan, but in Lanling she is worshipped almost exclusively as Jin Zixuan's consort.

Jiang Yanli's palace in the Heavenly Capital is a smaller replica of Lotus Pier. Others have described it as warm and welcoming, and visitors are often treated to the goddess' own cooking (which is said to have divine properties).

She and the Rain Master share a close friendship, something that leaves the rest of the Heavenly Capital in great surprise. Jiang Yanli is known to descend from the heavens to visit Yushi Huang in her fields. When asked once, Yanli said that Yushi Huang reminds her of someone with the same compassion and inability to hold grudges for long.

ABILITIES (as a goddess)

Heavenly Official: Jiang Yanli possesses the standard abilities of a Heavenly Official, which includes the ability to forgo basic necessities like food and sleep as well as the inability to age. She is also immune to the elements and, unlike in her mortal life, can wield spiritual powers.

Water Master Whip: Jiang Yanli's spiritual weapon as the Water Master. When not used in combat, it appears as a regular ladle used to make soup. It can summon and control water of different properties according to Jiang Yanli's wishes. One crack from the whip can create a new river or lake, if she wishes to do so. She rarely uses the whip in combat as she has her Martial God husband to fight for her when needed.

Divine Cooking: According to the people who have tasted Jiang Yanli's cooking, her dishes have a divine property that calms someone to their soul. Additionally, anyone who consumes food offered by Jiang Yanli are blessed with abundance for a certain amount of time.

What if we had episodes on the other four coven heads who were never properly introduced; Vitimir, Osran, Mason, and Hettie Cutburn? Plus some other storylines, dynamics, and ideas I'd have liked to see.

What follows is a canon-compliant set of four scripts, each comprising a hypothetical episode of its own. These are set between O Titan, Where Art Thou and Clouds on the Horizon. Luz, Eda, and King find themselves on an usual road trip in the final days before the Day of Unity, helping the CATTs' and other people's objectives along the way; It begins and ends in Latissa.

I didn't just want to write fanfics; I wanted to draft hypothetical 'lost episodes', I wanted to play with the idea of the show getting four specials to introduce the remaining four coven heads, and elaborate on other ideas that didn't get to be explored. So I wrote scripts, and I designed them to feel as much like TOH episodes as possible.

I realized there are 'rules' to TOH episodes; If there are separate A and B-plots, they must be connected in some way. They usually stem from a common premise, diverging and eventually converging; Sometimes in the next episode, as seen into late Season 2B! These episodes want to convey ideas, themes, lessons, etc. And perhaps most importantly, Luz is the main character; She has to have some sort of presence and involvement. Labyrinth Runners stands out as the exception, and so I tried to maintain it as the one and only exception.

The original plan was to write out these scripts, and then keep cutting them down until I fit within the 22-minute format; Because these definitely go past that length, especially if you want these Lost Hoots to have a breathable pace. But I decided to just show all my ideas as is, because it's not as if these scripts will ever become actual episodes.

Perhaps in the future I'll do TV-length versions of these, but my point is: I already had a lot of respect and consideration for how difficult it must've been for the writers to fit in as much as possible, while operating by their standard rules, and still having the episodes themselves be good and not at a breakneck pace where it's more quantity than quality; That respect has grown even more. I haven't even taken into account when the cut to the commercial break happens!

Not only are these Lost Hoots meant to fit into canon, but they even have titles and codes meant to fit into Season 2's hidden message! These are by no means hidden, but it's a fun treat to consider; What if I made these episodes in such a way that if they were produced, a new viewer wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless a veteran explained it to them? I wanted these episodes to feel seamless; They cap off prior ideas, while leading into future, canon events, who in turn feel like the payoff to the setup within these hypothetical Lost Hoots.

Those stupid reading challenges make a bit more sense if you remember that some ppl only read for quantity not quality. Goodreads literally has a reading challenge feature where you can decide to set a goal to read X amount of books in a year, I've seen some people have that challenge set between 100-300. Since Goodreads and all those book-fluencer also seem to be found on the same social medias: Youtube, tiktok, etc it kinda makes sense that some people honestly have no idea you can read based on quality and enjoyment, not to reach a certain challenge.

Personal mini side condescension: Maybe also the reason why so many books with meh-quality writing are so popular. You need to use less brain power to actually think about what you're reading because it's all so on the nose. So many books just feel the same no matter who writes them.
