is it too early to say that the narrative of Jinx being Vander's daughter was an OOC characterisation used to overwrite her being Silco's daughter because they needed to speedrun her redemption without being controversial
#her trauma regarding Silco's whole thing AND the murder is glaringly underwritten in s2#Powder's BPD abandonment issues were so hardcore she threw herself onto the first man who came her way after Violet's abandonment#and she had psychotic hallucinations about Vi even seven years after the incident#killing Silco should have destroyed her#but instead she is randomly readopted by Vander#like what happened to Vander favouring Vi and spending the most time with her bc they understood each other the best#Silco and Jinx were a direct parallel to THAT#and Jinx being a Jinx led to her murdering not only Vi's father figure but her own as well#so why can Vander remember Powder vividly enough to stop attacking a very visibly changed Jinx#but beats the shit out of Vi who looks much more like her younger self#unpopular opinion but Jinx would never call Vander papa/dad/whatever#but even if they did randomly add the layer of Jinx being Vander's daddy's girl#it's them throwing her guilt about his and Silco's deaths out of window that renders the whole dynamic ooc for me#ok bye#arcane critical#jinx

thinking about how objectively funny it is that August took out some of the pages from his own story out of the Storybook because he was ashamed of them or whatever when August, out of everyone in town, has thee most recognisable story worldwide.
like, August, I'm sorry but I don't think there's any running or hiding from this. Taking out the Pleasure Island arc of your story in one book isn't gonna do a lot to change the general public's perception of things. Or Henry's perception either, for that matter.
#i'm actually fascinated by the choice the writer's made here tbh#because. once again. august is only really being used as a convenient plot device#(and hey. I'm not complaining if it means he gets to cameo. 'I want to see my little boy' and all that but)#having august remove those pages and then deliver them to killian right at the end of the ep gives us a dramatic reveal#but also? I don't think it's out of character for august to take the pages either#it's so fascinating. it feels so futile#like he's desperately trying to gain some control and agency over his own story#even though he never truly can. because the whole world knows his story better than any of the others in town#it's also the reason I think he's writing his own story in his dad's garage#cause he's trying to gain some control. to rewrite the narrative a little#the fact that we even see him writing about pleasure island specifically is very telling#also: 'pleasure island is a part of my story that i'm not exactly proud of' dude you were SEVEN YEARS OLD#IT'S OKAY!!!#august booth#august meta#the alternative to consider of course is that a lot more went down at PI than what we're led to believe#WHAT? Found this when poking around the story editor and while I haven't tested this thoroughly, removing those highlighted lines worked! I grabbed all companions on the first day, entered the grove, ran through the forest, and still got everyone's Night 1 conversations. Interestingly, the Night 1-3 dialogues seem to have higher priority than Mizora's judgement so you get a few days with Wyll before she shows up.
I'm fully expecting there to be some unseen consequences for this, but it worked askdjaklsdj
#bg3 modding#elu's modding adventures#i know larian said they coded it this way so you'd get some conversations on some playthroughs and different ones on others#but#karlach's are basically inaccessible through normal gameplay#story-wise you're discouraged from long resting in early act 1 bc of the threat of ceremorphosis#new players are led to believe they only have seven days to find a cure#while more experienced players don't need to long rest as often#so having such a narrow window to trigger these is bonkers

More fun that way, creative control and all.” Theo took a sip of his red bull, keeping a careful eye on Liam in case he decided to punch him again. Liam still might, he hadn’t decided yet. Even as he did though, his veins flooded with ice at Theo’s words. The idea of more chimera’s running loose around Beacon Hills killing people didn’t settle well in his chest. It also didn’t click together well with the image of Theo that Liam had remembered.
Maybe things were different now. Maybe his time, wherever he had been, had changed him. No longer the boy who threw him into elevators and threatened hunters so that Liam wouldn’t get his hands dirty. No longer the boy willing to haul Liam back from the edge of madness with claws and fangs and sheer strength.

#hotd#asoiaf#I think a big problem is that so many people lack the background understanding of what the targaryens truly are#and how Targaryen exceptionalism informs their worldwives#and how that then affects their perception of their non-targaryens friends and loved ones#when analysing rhaenyra/alicent you need to understand that alicent was sexually attracted but also envied/wanted to be rhaenyra#because of her freedom power charisma charm etc#but rhaenyra's girlhood affection of alicent died with her marriage to her father#because that was an unforgivable sin in her eyes#when analsysing rhaenyra/criston you need to do so with the view that rhaenyra was acting like a prince who had taken a fancy#to a lowborn girl who's dreams of a romantic life with a dashing prince are cruelly thwarted when he chooses the crown over her#and the idea of shattered chilvraous/romantic ideals that the kingsguard characters often play with in asoiaf#when analysing Alicent/criston you need to understand how their second class status to rhaenyra and their failed relationships with her#led to them fill empty shameful and lesser in her absence#and that the two gravitate towards the targaryens ideological opposites (the faith of the seven)#and in turn look to each other to fill her void#when analysing daemon/rhaenyra you have to understand that rhaenyra is sexually attracted to daemon but also desperately wants to be him#she is the Alicent in this situation#for daemon rhaenyra is an ends to the throne but is also the only other person on earth that he feels is near is equal#because they’re drawn together by Targaryen exceptionalism
