I need a new post to take off bc 2/3 of my top posts bum me out. One is a poll about how fucked up the US is, and another is me being all excited about Texas breaking early voting records. (Spoiler alert: most of those early votes must have been for the literal worst president ever, instead of someone who would have been GOOD for the country.)
The third one is a silly poll about shampoo and conditioner, which I redid after it took off, but still left off an option I meant to add.
So I'll try YET AGAIN:

organizing shampoo bars

Organizing my shampoo and conditioner bars along with my sanitary pads.
I used a cardboard box, covered with leftover cloth that I sewed by hand.
I am far from perfect zero waste, couldn't adapt to menstrual cups or O.B. or menstrual panties.
However, not being perfect doesn't stop me from trying the best I can in all the rest.

Getting Used to Cold Water
As unpleasant as it sounds, using cold water on your hair during wash days can actually be beneficial to your hair! Whilst you shouldn't immediately gun for the coldest setting in your shower, turning the knob a little closer to the colder side the next time you wash your hair can give your curls a myriad of benefits.

Cold water allows for your hair cuticles to securely close up. This will lock in moisture and leave your curls feeling smoother and shinier. It's best to use cold water near the end of your wash day routine, after thoroughly detangling and conditioning your hair. This will allow your curls to make the most of the hydrating benefits that your conditioner offers and allow your wash-day curls to last longer.
Hot water, on the other hand, opens up the hair cuticle. This allows for products to thoroughly penetrate into your hair shafts. It's best to use hot water near the beginning of your wash day routine when shampooing your hair. Be careful not to use hot water near the end of your routine, though, as it can leave your hair looking frizzier and give your curls a harder time retaining moisture.
Cold water is not only beneficial to your hair, but also to your body as well. Taking cold showers instead of hot showers has been linked to various different health benefits, such as improved circulation, lighter moods, lessened soreness, and healthier skin. Even though ditching the warm embrace of a steamy shower can be difficult, making the switch to cold showers is inherently the best move to make.

Shower products + self care/beauty products i use !!
I've had really bad acne for SO LONG I started using panoxyl February this year (2024) and it has cleared my face up so well ! I used it with cerave retinol serum + the panoxyl toner (and peach slices acne patches)
Getting into my 20s I've wanted a "signature scent" so I've decided lavender vanilla is gonna be it ! Most of the perfumes i like/have work well with the body wash/soap too !

Wavy Curls
Embrace Your Natural Beauty: A Comprehensive Guide to Wavy Curls
Introduction
Wavy curls are a beautiful and unique hair type that combines the best of both worlds: the volume of curls and the smoothness of straight hair. Embracing your natural wavy curls can enhance your overall appearance and boost your confidence. This article will delve into everything you need to know about wavy curls, including their characteristics, care tips, styling techniques, and product recommendations.
Understanding Wavy Curls
Wavy curls, often categorized as Type 2 hair, fall between straight and curly hair. They are characterized by their loose, S-shaped waves that can vary in texture and density. Wavy hair is versatile and can be easily styled in various ways, making it a popular choice for many.
Types of Wavy Curls
Loose Waves - This type features fine, thin waves that are easy to manage and style. They have a slight bend and a soft texture.
Defined Waves - These waves are more defined and have a medium texture. They tend to form a more prominent S-shape and may have some frizz.
Thick Waves - These are the most defined and thickest among the wavy hair types. They have a strong S-shape and can be prone to frizz and coarseness.
Caring for Wavy Curls
Gentle Cleansing: Use a sulfate-free shampoo to avoid stripping natural oils from your hair. This helps maintain moisture and reduces frizz.
Conditioning: Apply a hydrating conditioner to keep your waves soft and manageable. Focus on the mid-lengths and ends of your hair.
Detangling: Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to detangle your hair while it’s wet. Start from the ends and work your way up to minimize breakage.
Hydration: Keep your hair hydrated with leave-in conditioners or curl-enhancing creams. These products help define your waves and reduce frizz.
Avoid Heat: Minimize the use of heat styling tools. If necessary, use a heat protectant spray and opt for lower heat settings.
Styling Tips for Wavy Curls
Air Drying: Allow your hair to air dry naturally to maintain its natural wave pattern. Scrunch your hair gently with a microfiber towel to remove excess water.
Plopping: Use a t-shirt or microfiber towel to wrap your hair after washing. This technique helps enhance your waves and reduce frizz.
Diffusing: If you prefer using a blow dryer, attach a diffuser to enhance your waves without causing frizz. Use the lowest heat setting and scrunch your hair while drying.
Twisting and Braiding: Twist or braid your damp hair before bed to create defined waves.
Curl-Enhancing Products: Apply curl-enhancing mousses, gels, or creams to damp hair to define and hold your waves. Look for lightweight formulas that won’t weigh down your hair.
Product Recommendations for Wavy Curls are
Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-In Conditioner, Curl Cream & Gel.
Conclusion
Embracing and caring for your wavy curls can enhance your natural beauty and give you a distinctive, stylish look. By understanding the characteristics of wavy hair and following proper care and styling techniques, you can achieve healthy, defined waves that turn heads. Remember, the key to beautiful wavy curls is maintaining moisture, reducing frizz, and using the right products. Celebrate your unique hair type and enjoy the versatility and charm of your wavy curls!

I just found out that a local store has a refill bar for shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and other products! I was already in need of replacements, so I went ahead and got the refillable bottles for these three items, glass and stainless steel. This is a great alternative to bars which 1) my guests confuse as soap, and 2) my cats confuse as food.
I also picked up a safety razor- I've never used one before, but they're a fantastic alternative to the modern multi blade razor, and this one happened to be decently priced! More info on these to come :)

Starting a Routine
If you haven't already, you should get started on formatting a routine for your wash days and keeping track of what days you wash your hair. Knowing when you'll have your wash days and what you'll get done when they eventually come around can be more helpful than you may think.

One important thing to note is that your curly hair routine doesn't necessarily require a three-pronged binder, complete with color-coded sticky notes and alphabetically arranged tabs. Something as simple as modifying your digital calendar or opening up a new note on your notes app can help you arrange everything related to your curly hair regimen.
As I stated before, the frequency of your wash days depends on a wide array of factors. Chances are, you already have a general idea of how often you wash your hair. The only thing that remains for you to do is to set your schedule in stone by taking note of when you'll wash your hair. This can make it easier to work around days that you anticipate will be busier than others and allow you to make time for curly hair needs.
Another important thing to do is to start a routine. Searching up "curly hair routine for [your curl type] hair" on YouTube will give you a surplus of videos that give insight into what other people with your curl type are doing to take care of their curls on wash day. You should look through a diverse spread of videos to get a general idea of some common things people with your curl type are doing. For example, are they all using a hair diffuser on their hair? Are they scrunching their curls with a mousse? What type of brush are they using to de-tangle their hair? Once you have a grasp on what you want to incorporate into your own regimen, you can start drafting your curly hair routine. When researching, you should make a mental note of where your information is coming from. Videos with more views are not necessarily more reliable or objectively beneficial. Plus, videos that are posted or sponsored by a particular brand, especially one that specializes in selling hair products, may be biased toward showcasing specific items.
