Aye, I've heard of it. The ramblings of madmen still stain my mind with their afeared regurgitations of those words, but I can't tell you much outside of what you already know. You'd have to ask a priest for that, I believe they'd happy to tell.

...Now, you didn't get this from me, but I believe there's some affected among us in this city. Rumours sometimes drift to the topic, always hushed quiet the minute I get near, but what I get to hear and understand in those fleeting moments is telling... Some say the oracle's one of them.

Shay is about to turn away when but a meagre glance at Viva's legs startles him right back.

"Hey uh... are you okay? I'd get to a mechanic if I were you, have those legs looked at. There's one by the northwest terrace, shouldn't be hard to miss."

shay you keep making au's how are you keeping it all together? are you taking breaks?

i make lots of notes and outlines to keep my ideas together sometimes im more motivated to write one au then the other it happens. Now i want everyone to listen close so we don't have any worries! I WILL FINISH ALL THE AU'S I HAVE STARTED UNLESS I ANNOUNCE IT'S BEEN CANCELED i see lots of peeps worry im taking long on splits or azure potion that im no longer making chapters, which isn't true. I just haven't had the spark or life is keeping me busy, even if updates are slow i still will put my passion and time on all my au! And yes I do take breaks spending time with love ones and gaming :D

War-hammer: what is the inciting conflict?

Flail: is there an aspect of your WIP that you're struggling with?

Oh~!

For Dread Secrets there's two main inciting conflicts/incidents.

For the "past storyline", the inciting incident is when Ansellus discovers that the Rusa Kingdom (and Celesto, his wife, by extension) worship the Eleven Evils and have an origin with the God of Chaos and the God of Discord.

For the "present day storyline", the inciting incident is Xiang deciding it would be a good idea to enter his friend's mind despite numerous warnings that it could worsen his friend's curse (A curse that made him fall into a wakeless sleep as Grim Twilight Ivy grows from and around his body). Through this action, Xiang receives a curse mark that appears to have the same endgame as his friend's curse though with more time to figure it out.

I am struggling with the whole thing, these people don't listen.

I am struggling with how to tell the story that has two plotlines that are around sixteen years apart, but connected via memories that Xiang must learn from in an effort to break the curse on himself and his friend.

Greed: I'd probably steal Wen Ning from Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. Wanna give him a friend. He'd probably get along pretty well with Shysie from The Eleven Evils. They're both soft spoken and gentle people who wouldn't normally hurt or kill.

Grief: Regret? Nah... So far I haven't met a situation where I regret killing a character, but there is still time since I haven't actually written anything yet. I will get really sad when I get around to writing certain character deaths though, does that count?

New idea:

Something happens, Desmond time travel to the past... But...

He become something like the Eldritch! Desmond, except that:

He adopts the child versions of his ancestors (and the others protagonist).

Like he take Arno just after his father dies.

Or he just adopt them before the canon is about to start or the start of the canon (like Shay is recently survived the Lisboa).

The Eldritch God Desmond idea that technically has an ending. Sorta.

He can only leave the Gray thanks to this holes that he can crawl out of.

The holes turn out to be the shadows underneath the bed or the shadowy part of a barely opened closet.

His form takes on a grotesque turn, as if reality itself tried to create a form for something shapeless enveloping the Gray.

That’s right.

We’re turning Desmond into the boogeyman that visits children at night XD

He first visits Altaïr after the death of Umar. The chest that held Umar’s possessions was left slightly open, almost empty because Assassins have already taken some of them back. He finds Altaïr crying and missing his father. The child wasn’t even afraid of him, not at all.

He was too tired from crying but he couldn’t sleep because, when he closes his eyes, he would see the head of his father rolling in the ground.

Desmond comforts him each night after their meeting, staying by his side and letting the boy sleep on his monstrous inconceivable body.

He was there when Abbas’ father tried to take his own life and all the Brotherhood knew was that he had gone inside, calling Altaïr a monster in his grief-stricken madness.

Altaïr grows up under the care of the monster inside his father’s closet and he’s… strange. He doesn’t see the world the same way others did. He had no loyalty to the Brotherhood. He stayed because Desmond told him he had to stay.

When he saw what the treasure was, he knew immediately that Desmond would want it.

Ezio is different. He first saw the boogeyman when Claudia was born. He had screamed in fear and the boogeyman left.

The next time he sees the boogeyman, it was when Petruccio was born. He thought he was just dreaming and ran away to Federico’s room to hide.

The final time he sees the boogeyman, it was the night before the Auditores would be arrested. The boogeyman crept from underneath Cristina’s bed and pinned Ezio, covering his mouth before he could say anything. Cristina slept peacefully as the creature whispered to Ezio.

Ezio thought he was just dreaming.

Then he learned his father and brothers were arrested and…

The creature grabbed his hand just as he opened the chest that held his father’s Assassin robes.

He whispered the same thing once more.

“Give the evidence to House Medici. Uberto Alberti betrayed your father.”

Ezio was scared, of course.

But…

He also knew that the creature was trying to help.

So he heeded his warning and went straight to House Medici.

Ratonhnhaké:ton first encountered him his first night in Achilles’ home. The closet door creaked open and he slipped into Ratonhnhaké:ton’s room. A being older and more powerful than anything Ratonhnhaké:ton had ever seen.

But he wasn’t afraid.

There was no need to be afraid.

He knew that he had not done anything to offend the being so he greeted him in his native language.

He used a thousand voices that whispered all over the room.

He simply told Ratonhnhaké:ton to not forget to eat dinner next time and left.

He became a nightly visitor, sometimes moving out of Ratonhnhaké:ton’s room to wander the manor in one of their regular walks.

Achilles confronted Ratonhnhaké:ton one morning about his nightly visitor.

“He’s a ghost that has haunted the Brotherhood. Seeing him means he’s marked you.”

“Marked me?”

“You will do great things, Connor. Maybe you will guide the Brotherhood and lead us to greater heights. Maybe you’ll leave the Templar Order in a storm of fire and ashes. You will leave your name in the Brotherhood and one day… you will disappear from this world and will never be found.”

Other possible adoptions:

- Edward would start seeing him in the chest in the captain’s room in the Jackdaw.

- Arno would see him underneath the bed in the room he was given in the de la Serre mansion. He runs away from the de la Serre once Desmond learns they’re Templars and ‘whispers’ to Arno that Monsieur de la Serre may have something to do with the death of his father.

- Jacob and Evie starts seeing him after their mother died and their father left for India. Desmond has his own ‘room’ in the train where he would slip in and out of.

- If you want to include Shay, Desmond could slip out underneath his cot in Morrigan’s captain room after they left Lisbon and Shay starts seeing him as a ‘nightmare’ haunting his guilt over what happened in Lisbon.

- Bayek would start seeing him after Khemu’s death and he thinks he’s one of the old gods, reminding him to avenge his child. (maybe Khemu even talks about Desmond as a friend who helps him sleep)

- Instead of Kassandra, we can make Desmond adopt Alexios as Deimos and turn this into ‘tired dad and chaotic mass murdering gremlin’ XD)

- Basim starts seeing Desmond in the shadows of Alamut and tries to ignore him, thinking that a spirit haunting this place would not ‘talk’ to him if he pretends that he can’t see him. Jokes on him, Desmond is there because he can ‘see’ the Isu sleeping inside Basim.

- Eivor sees Desmond her first night in Ravensthorpe and assumes he’s a spirit of the land so she treats him with respect.

If you chose to go the affair route with Shay, would there be an option for them to have been the MCs first time? The angst would be crazy, especially with how it almost feels like Shay discards affair route MC after they’re done. Probably not a good feeling after your first time with someone you really like. Shay can't get his eyes off those legs, often shooting them quick glances which never seem to quite sate his morbid curiosity.

☕️+ going easy on yourself when your mind is not

Typically, I ask myself why I'm being hard on myself. It's usually because:

I've gone too many days not taking care of my body. Hard reset with food and sleep. If I'm like acutely sad or angry and there doesn't seem to be a good reason for it, something is up body-function wise. I need to eat a plant, I need sleep, or I need to take a walk and chill. You cannot grind your way through everything—your body can and will force a hard reset if you go too many days.

I somehow think I should magically jump gulfs in competency levels at something. This is usually sparked by seeing somebody be way better than me at something. I try to tell myself that unless I'm going to ask them how they do something, I need to just put the blinders on and focus on skill building in doses over time. Being envious sucks and it's humbling as hell, but it will not help me improve unless I'm actively acting on it.

I'm getting critiqued by authority figures. I'll throw this in because I used to struggle with this when I was younger, but it doesn't affect me much anymore. Well, I guess I can lump this in with #2 a bit too. I need to sit down and interrogate whether or not I truly care about the thing that they/I'm criticizing myself over. Is this a thing I think I should care about or do I actually care about it? And if I do actually care about it, what's a very concrete/tangible next action I can take to improve it?

And sometimes you just gotta ask a friend to tell you that everything will be ok, you aren't a unique failure, and distract you. Or show you a new way to approach something.

How does day-to-day life in your world differ from our own? What chores do the people have to do? What don't they have to do? What conveniences do they have that we don't?

I'll answer this for the realm and time period of my current WIP (Dread Secrets).

....This is going to be a long response...oops. I hope this makes sense, but if something doesn't make sense or intrigues you more feel free to ask for clarification or more information about it!

In the era of Dread Secrets, day-to-day life is closer to medieval life, though even then there's differences from Earth's medieval times.

Magic is a common component of life, though magic is significantly weaker than during earlier eras. In this era, many people have such weak magic that they are determined to not have any at all. There are magic creatures and other animals that do not exist on Earth (Ex: The Clivdon: a horse that is roughly the size and build of a Percheron draft horse, omnivorous, intelligent, aggressive in the wild, and loyal once tamed/bonded to people).

Similar to present day, however, there is diversity in the people who live in and out of the kingdoms thanks in part to the first war which brought all continents and countries together through alliances and bloodshed.

Chores are much like today's. They clean their homes, look after their children, do their jobs, cook, bake, create. Depending on your job and status, you may have other people do chores for you (typically for pay or housing). They tend to their animals and crops as well if they are farmers or similar.

Some people have magic that can make life more convenient or aid in their day-to-day lives. Should you live in the City of Rudrian, it could even be more convenient to become a prostitute or entertainer, depending on your preferences thanks to the God of Pleasure and God of Festivals who have patroned the city since it was barely an established village. (does it make sense?....probably not....is it true? yes)

Primordials, the Ancients, Gods, and Immortals walk the earth and can bless people and places. Getting a blessing from any of them holds different meanings. Primordial blessings can be passed down for generations, preventing illness/disease, granting bountiful crops and health for livestock, and even increasing the magic potential of a lineage. Ancient blessings aid with navigation, connection with an aspect of the world, and increasing an individual's magic potential. God blessings allow proficiency, greater understanding, and knowledge about what the god rules over. Immortals offer a lesser blessing of the gods and often act as guardians over a God's realm or individuals their god has tasked them to protect.
