“You have got to be kidding. Out of all places.” Ripping her pink-tinted shades off her eyes, her eyes remained to the signage planted before her.
The Quileute Indian Reserve in La Push, Washington, the very place she never thought she would be back in. Not that she hate the said city specifically but rather the place the resides beside it. Seeing the sign sent her with blunder flashback, both the good and the bad. How did she not know she that she would end up back here?
“Why do I have to be there, isn’t aren’t Uncle Macon, and you five enough witness for the Swan girl’s kid? Larks, I have places to be.” Y/n stared at her newly painted nails, her phone squeezed between her shoulder and cheek with her other hand occupied with the nail polish brush. Sitting by the window seat with the full view of the city of love where she has been staying for quite a long while.
“Sorry sis, Momma’s orders. Rid’s lover boy and cousin Lena with her wayward is coming here as well. It be a nice reunion as well.” His sly tone forever present in his voice. She still loved him to death as Y/n would do everything in her will to protect her love ones whether she is a dark caster or not. Despite the claim for her true nature is as black as a soulless person. She did her very best to protect younger and only brother from the curse her dear cousin Lena unluckily possessed. She didn’t blame her for anything at all as an ancestor’s fault isn’t their predecessor’s fault as well.
“Tempting but no. The Cullen’s are at the Denali’s and they situated the meeting here. So don’t worry about your wolfy friends coming by any time soon. Even if they do, you know we’ll back you up.” Smiling, the blonde haired caster followed it with a sigh. Y/n did miss her siblings and she been far away long enough. Besides, she hasn’t used a majority of her powers for quite a while now. She could use the challenge.
“Alright, great! We’ll see you soon sis. Reece and Ryan are going to flip when they see you.” Still staring at the view before her window, her mind drifted elsewhere. Her past. The love that she found in the reserve and the heartbreaking tragedy that had to be fall her and her past partner when he phased into a werewolf.
Larkin had just tricked her that the digital map had gave her straight passage to the Denali’s Coven. Her chest drummed as her breath turned irregular. The light grey sky began to shift to a darker hue as the flashing became more transparent and roar of rumbling thunder grew twice as loud.
The blonde haired male stared at the distance as the hurricane build from the distance. A smirk grew on his chiseled face.
“Where is she now Larks?” the youngest Duchannes stared at the same direction as all who stood in the grassy clearing did the same as well. The Cullen’s and the two Packs lead by Jacob Black and the other by Sam Uley. The thundering roars of the dark sky gravitated faster towards the direction of the clearing.
“She is coming.” The same sinister smile never left him before taking a quick glimpse at a particular pack who were sure that they saw the look she gave.
Carlisle turned the gray haired man that looked about in his fifties but still walked like a healthy man. “Macon, may I ask whom we are waiting for? Is this person we are waiting for really crucial?” the blonde vampire had thought that his dear old friend had already brought his whole coven and with the abilities of these people possessed, even his wife and adoptive children knew that the Volturi won’t even have a chance to fight back.
Macon smiled and placed a hand over the man’s shoulder. “I know you think we’ve had enough since my hybrid niece is here but I like to consider this as a way to reunite my dear nieces and nephew. We haven’t used our powers for quite a while and it would be really great if we are to fight along side of you as a complete family.” As he patted Carlisle’s shoulder and they continued to watch the dark clouds roll towards them.
Sam knew that this group that stood before him and his pack were mortal yet half of him could not help but think of them as something a lot more supreme. Jacob Black stuck beside his young imprint, he felt quite nervous to tell the truth. Vampires never scared him but somehow this family and the coming hurricane did. Paul remained a bottled anger to prepare himself to whatever the threat that was coming but he wasn’t prepared of what version of this threat would come in.
The dark horde of clouds had reached the clearing, covering it with darkness. Then they all heard it in the woods. Its foot steps dropped like big foot’s large and heavy strides. Everything felt scary.
“*Crack, Crack*”, “What the hell!!” Bolts of lightning began to hit the ground every second as a figure emerged from the woods.
“Did you really have to lie to her just to have her come hear, you know how much she hates mutt.” This earned a growl from the Uley’s Beta glaring at Ridley. Link consoled the girl but didn’t really do much as even Ryan, Reece and Lena had been eyeing the shape shifters some dirty looks for quite a while now.
“you better make your niece’s stop their staring before I gouge their eyes out with my own hands—”, “Paul stop! Calm down.” The third in command tried to hold the short tempered time bomb as his ragged breath quickened.
“You dare speak to me, animal!” Macon raised his voice this time, worsening the events. Paul started scrambling from Jared and Embry’s hold on him. Completely ridding the two of and he let himself phased into a wolf and began his mad dash towards the old man Ravenwood. Neither of the caster inched a movement and didn’t even looked shaken as they knew what could come upon this ravaging mutt.
He lifted of the dirt ground and pounced towards old man. His fangs unsheathed and waited for it to reach his flesh. Until a thunder bolt flew down between and his prey, sending him away rolling around the dirt.
“Don’t even try to put your filthy paws on uncle, Lahote.” The wolf scrambled to his feet, eager to take on the one responsible for throwing him off. Only for him freeze the moment his eyes met a pair of golden glowing ones.
“Y/n.”

I Was (Almost) There
I lived in West Los Angeles from late 1987 until the summer of 1992. I went to Brentwood Elementary on Bundy Drive. Had I stayed in West L.A., I would’ve attended Uni High whose alumni include Darby Crash, Pat Smear, Will Amato (Slash), Kira and Paul Roessler, etc. That’s just some of the first-wave punk folks who went to high school there.
I ended up moving to Ventura County and going to Newbury Park High—the same school Belinda Carlisle, Lorna Doom and Donna Rhia of the Germs graduated from decades earlier. Although it was a 45-minute drive from Newbury Park, I’d still occasionally visit my friends in West L.A. By 1995, we had all started skateboarding.
My friend Edward knew how to get to Rip City Skates in Santa Monica. We’d skate the one-and-a-half miles to get there for no real reason. We’d typically skate Uni High, the ledges outside Pavilions, and then end up at Rip City. We’d go there almost daily. Rip City was one of the first skate shops I ever went to.
I stopped visiting West L.A. by the late 1990s. It had been decades since I’d been inside Rip City. But we were recently in Santa Monica and it felt great to stop back in.
Rip City opened in 1978 and has been in the same building ever since. The owner, Jim McDowell, still runs it. The place looks exactly the same; the well-worn chair they built in the mid-‘80s out of Powell decks that I sat in as a teenager remains.

When I got hold of Jordan Schwartz’s We Got Power collection—which you really should own—I’d recognized a lot of the exteriors of buildings he’d photographed from our mid-‘90s trips to Rip City. One building was across the street from the skate shop. Schwartz mentioned getting punk haircuts at FreeStyle Salon. While a hair salon was still there, it’s doubtful it had remained under the same ownership. The cleaners next door was still operating up until recently with the original signage. I’m glad I visited when I did, as the strip mall is set to be demolished soon for the likely benefit of Santa Monica’s burgeoning Tesla and Porsche crowd.

When we went to Rip City in the 1990s, it was just a skate shop. It’s connections to everything from L.A. punk to Lovedolls Superstar—Jennifer Schwartz worked at Rip City—was something I was benighted to.
This is all just a firm reminder of how much I like Los Angeles and how lucky I was to have grown up there.

‘What a great experience’
Dinosaurs may be extinct in our world, but one is very much alive in Ailynne Ballard’s life.
When she’s not playing with her stuffed dinosaur, the 9-year-old loves riding bikes and running near the Kentwood, Michigan, home she shares with her grandma, Michelle Carlisle.
But a recent outdoor playdate left her with a broken left wrist.
“The neighbor kids were chasing her,” Carlisle said. “She tripped and broke her wrist.”
Carlisle rushed her granddaughter to the Spectrum Health Medical Group South Pavilion Urgent Care Center on 68th Street in Cutlerville, one of six Spectrum Health locations in Kent County offering curbside urgent care service.
“We pulled up and they did a curbside check-in,” Carlisle said. “They asked our name and phone number and why we were there. Within five minutes of pulling in, they provided masks (Mickey Mouse mask for the Ailynne) and got us straight into a room. It was so quick.”
Shortly after settling into the room, Joshua Hobson, PA-C, arrived and ordered an X-ray.
“The lady who did the X-rays was absolutely wonderful with her,” Carlisle said. “Ailynne had never had an X-ray before. She got back in the room and then the (person) that helped us was so sweet.”
The urgent care team pulled a prehistoric calming technique, with the help of Strawberry, Ailynne’s red and black stuffed dinosaur.
“(She) put a splint on the dinosaur first,” Carlisle said. “The whole time the girl was wrapping up Strawberry, she said, ‘Now I’m going to be real gentle with Strawberry, like I am with you.’ Ailynee was like, ‘I think Strawberry handled that pretty good. I think I can now.’ It was awesome.”
Carlisle felt so moved by the experience, she shared it on Facebook.
“Oh my gosh, what a great experience,” she said. “They were so nice to keep reassuring her and Strawberry that everything was going to be OK. We were in and out of there in 30 minutes, including the splint and everything.”
Depending on the injury or illness, some patients may be screened, given a mask and escorted inside, where team members perform thorough and extensive sanitizing, especially in high-touch areas. Social distancing signage is also in place.
Things such as strep tests with cultures, monospot testing and influenza swabbing may all be performed carside. Additionally, with Spectrum Health Now and primary care physician referral visits, patients may receive rapid urinalysis and some other tests with just a brief trip from their car.
“The pertinent tests are run and the provider calls to discuss the result with the patient still safely in their vehicles,” Hobson said. “Overall, the goals of eliminating the traditional waiting room, ensuring patients receive efficient and appropriate care, and expanding the ease of health care access are achieved.”
Hobson has heard a lot of positive feedback from patients and their families.
“Our patients love that they can receive efficient, thorough, and coordinated care in an environment that limits exposure to others and keeps their personal health as the top priority,” he said.
Team members also appreciate the precautions being taken.
“Simply eliminating the waiting room through the process makes all staff and patients alike feel safer,” Hobson said. “Everyone benefits.”
Another customer who appreciates this mode of health care delivery is Wayland resident Shelly Blanksma. The 56-year-old felt intense pressure in her right ear recently and couldn’t get into her primary care physician or her ear, nose and throat specialist.
“I felt I couldn’t wait,” Blanksma said. “I reached out to a friend and she told me she had gone to a Spectrum Health urgent care. She suggested the one by Division and 68th Street because I live by Gun Lake. I hadn’t been to an urgent care in 30 or 40 years.”
When she pulled in, she followed cones with directions to curbside check-in.
“Once I got there I rolled down my window and (someone) came out with a clipboard,” Blanksma said. “She took all the information down and told me where to park. When I walked in, they gave me a mask and immediately took me to a patient room.”
Hobson entered the room, examined Blanksma’s right ear with an otoscope and noticed excessive ear wax buildup.
“It was putting a lot of pressure on my ear,” she said, noting how they were quick to diagnose and treat her condition. “Less than an hour after I arrived in the parking lot, I was out. It was very, very easy. I had an amazing experience. I would go back there in a heart beat. I feel back to myself.”

Union’s Bedoya Won’t be Suspended After Goal Celebration Calling on Congress to “End Gun Violence”
The Union reclaimed first place last night with a dominant 5-1 victory against 10-man D.C. United on the road.
After his opening goal, captain Alejandro Bedoya ran over to the one of the field mics and shouted, “hey Congress, do something now, end gun violence, let’s go,” which quickly went viral and made the rounds on social media and the internet at large.
Today, we’ve got multiple folks reporting that Bedoya won’t be suspended for his message:

The league has a strict no-politics policy when it comes to fan signage inside stadiums, which means that the Sons of Ben can’t unfurl a banner that says “Trump is a turd sandwich” or “fuck Antifa” or something along those lines. That’s explicitly written in the fan code of conduct, though I’m not sure if there’s any specific policy regarding what players are allowed to say or do on the field.
For what it’s worth, FIFA restricts political displays, so for example you’re not supposed to take off your jersey to reveal a message written on an undershirt. That example is covered in the FIFA Disciplinary Code via Rule 11 which deems inappropriate the act of “using a sports event for demonstrations of a non-sporting nature.”
Similarly, here’s the language regarding player equipment in the FIFA Laws of the Game:

I will look for a specific rule regarding MLS player conduct RE: politics, but I don’t think one exists.

How To Guard Your Google Business Profile from Becoming a Running Joke

When customers walk into your place of business, phone you, or reach out to you via email or social media with a question that’s clearly a lead, you’d never, ever answer:
“Who knows?”
But it’s exactly this, and several related scenarios of absurdity, that have resulted from Google positioning itself as the dominant middle man between customers and local brands while failing to adequately communicate or enforce product policies.
Examples of Google Business Profiles gone bad are often comical, but it’s no laughing matter for your business to shed revenue for the sake of some jester’s joke. Then, spammers jump into the game, and that’s about as humorous as hitting your funny bone. And, sometimes, it’s even somebody on your own staff or a marketer you’ve hired who goofs.
Good local companies work so hard to develop exceptional customer service and a sterling reputation, and the Google Business Profile can brilliantly showcase both when carefully curated. But lack of vigilance over five key sections of this most visible online asset can cumulatively undermine offline goals.
Today, let’s look at some serious gaffes, get you set up to mitigate them, and put a watchdog mindset in your local place of business.
Naming nonsense
One of my favorite Local Tech Leads at Moz, Robert Reis, recently pointed out to me that Google’s sternest local guidelines actually reveal their greatest vulnerabilities. This is certainly true when it comes to Google not wanting brands to keyword stuff business names, because it so clearly appears to impact local pack rankings. Take a look at this all-too-common tomfoolery:

Then, there are other cases in which a business listing can be maliciously edited or hijacked by a competitor, an angry customer, or another third party. In this example, not only has the business name been edited, but the website URL has been pointed to ripoffreport.com:

What to do:
Customers may laugh, but certainly, they will not trust business names like these. If someone in your own company has been keyword stuffing, show them Google’s explicit guidelines regarding formatting names to match real-world business titles and edit the name to conform to the rules. Any other course risks losing customers and being reported by the public to Google for a violation.
If you suspect that a competitor’s high rankings are stemming, at least in part, from keyword stuffing, do a little research. Look at the name on their street signage in Google Street View. Take a photo in person if necessary. Look at the name on their website. Phone them to see how they answer the phone. Then, if you’re convinced that the guidelines are being broken, submit your evidence via the Business Redressal Complaint Form. There is no guarantee that Google will act on your report, but this is the main vehicle for seeking action.
If your listing has been hijacked and maliciously edited, I recommend starting by reporting the full details at the Google My Business Help Community. Ask the volunteers there to give you current steps for resolving the hijack. You can’t ever be totally safe from the possibility of hijacking, but do be sure you’ve claimed any GMB listing for your company. Some local SEOs also recommend making occasional null edits (hitting the submit button in your GMB dashboard without changing any of the listing data) as this activity might make your listing less prone to third-party edits.
Review roguery
I like to give business owners the benefit of the doubt for making a judgment call error when they review themselves. But it’s always embarrassing to see any company misusing reviews to sing their own praises, and particularly so when their family members point this out in public:

More often, the business is the victim of review shenanigans. Google’s forum is continuously emitting distress signals from business owners who feel they’ve received one or more negative reviews from people they’ve never had a transaction with, as illustrated by this interchange:
And, the hard truth is that some entities have made a business model out of competitive sabotage via negative reviews. The problem has become large enough to make televised news.
What to do:
Falsifying reviews is illegal and has resulted in multi-million-dollar FTC fines in the United States. If you own or market local businesses, adhere to the Consumer Review Fairness Act and read the guidelines of any online platform on which you are receiving or writing reviews. Don’t review your own business or have past or present staff do so. Don’t review your competitors. Don’t incentivize reviews in any way, or post reviews on behalf of anyone else. Don’t hire any marketing firm or use any review management software that violates guidelines.
If your business becomes the subject of a review spam attack, screenshot and document all of the fake reviews, then flag them from inside of your Google My Business dashboard via the three little dots associated with each review. After three days, contact Google through their online chat option to follow up.
Google will make the ultimate decision on whether to remove the reviews and they are quite strict about what they view as negative vs. fake. If Google doesn’t remove the reviews, I would suggest two things. First, I would report the reviews to ReviewFraud and then, if the sentiment in the reviews is damaging enough, you might need to contact an attorney to see if further steps can be taken to prompt removal.

Brands often think of these listings as belonging to them, when, in fact, they belong to Google. Images are considered to be a strong factor in CTR, so it’s particularly aggravating when user-uploaded photos either misrepresent or embarrass the business.
I’ve been shown cases in which people have mysteriously uploaded images that have nothing to do with a business. More often, though, I see photos like the following which highlight some aspect of the company that has disgusted or angered customers:

There is some reason to suspect this may happen in the US in the future, which could result in all kinds of strange optics popping up in association with brands.
What to do:
If an image accurately represents a lack of proper management at a location of your business, fix the issue or such imagery will continue to surface. You can then try flagging the photo, identifying yourself as the business owner, and explaining what you’ve done to correct the problem. However, unless the photo violates Google’s guidelines, it’s unlikely to be removed. Barring removal, be sure you are adding as many high-quality photos as possible to your listing to lessen the impact of a single image.

The good news is that the fix for this is quite simple. Google’s tutorial for setting special hours if foolproof, and it will only take you a few minutes each year to ensure your profile displays correct information every day of the year. And, of course, update your website to reflect this data, too.
There are no dumb questions, but…
Sorry to say it, but there are actually some answers that are far from smart. I’ve saved for last the most extreme example of real-world businesses becoming the butt of online jokes.
Google Q&A is beginning to have all the earmarks of an experiment gone astray, and if you’re not actively managing this feature of the Google Business Profile, chances are good that your customers are experiencing a bizarre substitute for customer service.

But now, put your hands back on your keyboard for a little work. Unlike the review medium in which guidelines forbid you being an initiator, Google Questions & Answers invites businesses to post and answer their own FAQs. All you have to do is spend a few minutes populating this area of the Google Business Profile with common questions and responses. Then monitor this feature on an ongoing basis so that customers are receiving a helpful, authoritative response to questions. Q&A is a lead-generating asset and conversions are totally within your control.
Adopting a local watchdog
All five cases of Google Business Profile hijinx share the requirement of vigilance for prevention and mitigation. Manually checking on multiple features week after week is a serious drain on local business owners’ limited time. Businesses with multiple locations are especially prone to becoming distracted from or worn out by the effort.

How To Guard Your Google Business Profile from Becoming a Running Joke

When customers walk into your place of business, phone you, or reach out to you via email or social media with a question that’s clearly a lead, you’d never, ever answer:

But it’s exactly this, and several related scenarios of absurdity, that have resulted from Google positioning itself as the dominant middle man between customers and local brands while failing to adequately communicate or enforce product policies.
Examples of Google Business Profiles gone bad are often comical, but it’s no laughing matter for your business to shed revenue for the sake of some jester’s joke. Then, spammers jump into the game, and that’s about as humorous as hitting your funny bone. And, sometimes, it’s even somebody on your own staff or a marketer you’ve hired who goofs.
Good local companies work so hard to develop exceptional customer service and a sterling reputation, and the Google Business Profile can brilliantly showcase both when carefully curated. But lack of vigilance over five key sections of this most visible online asset can cumulatively undermine offline goals.
Today, let’s look at some serious gaffes, get you set up to mitigate them, and put a watchdog mindset in your local place of business.
Naming nonsense
One of my favorite Local Tech Leads at Moz, Robert Reis, recently pointed out to me that Google’s sternest local guidelines actually reveal their greatest vulnerabilities. This is certainly true when it comes to Google not wanting brands to keyword stuff business names, because it so clearly appears to impact local pack rankings. Take a look at this all-too-common tomfoolery:

What to do:
Customers may laugh, but certainly, they will not trust business names like these. If someone in your own company has been keyword stuffing, show them Google’s explicit guidelines regarding formatting names to match real-world business titles and edit the name to conform to the rules. Any other course risks losing customers and being reported by the public to Google for a violation.
If you suspect that a competitor’s high rankings are stemming, at least in part, from keyword stuffing, do a little research. Look at the name on their street signage in Google Street View. Take a photo in person if necessary. Look at the name on their website. Phone them to see how they answer the phone. Then, if you’re convinced that the guidelines are being broken, submit your evidence via the Business Redressal Complaint Form. There is no guarantee that Google will act on your report, but this is the main vehicle for seeking action.
If your listing has been hijacked and maliciously edited, I recommend starting by reporting the full details at the Google My Business Help Community. Ask the volunteers there to give you current steps for resolving the hijack. You can’t ever be totally safe from the possibility of hijacking, but do be sure you’ve claimed any GMB listing for your company. Some local SEOs also recommend making occasional null edits (hitting the submit button in your GMB dashboard without changing any of the listing data) as this activity might make your listing less prone to third-party edits.
Review roguery
I like to give business owners the benefit of the doubt for making a judgment call error when they review themselves. But it’s always embarrassing to see any company misusing reviews to sing their own praises, and particularly so when their family members point this out in public:

What to do:
Falsifying reviews is illegal and has resulted in multi-million-dollar FTC fines in the United States. Don’t review your own business or have past or present staff do so. Don’t review your competitors. Don’t incentivize reviews in any way, or post reviews on behalf of anyone else. Don’t hire any marketing firm or use any review management software that violates guidelines.

How To Guard Your Google Business Profile from Becoming a Running Joke

When customers walk into your place of business, phone you, or reach out to you via email or social media with a question that’s clearly a lead, you’d never, ever answer:
“Who knows?”
But it’s exactly this, and several related scenarios of absurdity, that have resulted from Google positioning itself as the dominant middle man between customers and local brands while failing to adequately communicate or enforce product policies.
Examples of Google Business Profiles gone bad are often comical, but it’s no laughing matter for your business to shed revenue for the sake of some jester’s joke. Then, spammers jump into the game, and that’s about as humorous as hitting your funny bone. And, sometimes, it’s even somebody on your own staff or a marketer you’ve hired who goofs.
Good local companies work so hard to develop exceptional customer service and a sterling reputation, and the Google Business Profile can brilliantly showcase both when carefully curated. But lack of vigilance over five key sections of this most visible online asset can cumulatively undermine offline goals.

Naming nonsense
One of my favorite Local Tech Leads at Moz, Robert Reis, recently pointed out to me that Google’s sternest local guidelines actually reveal their greatest vulnerabilities. This is certainly true when it comes to Google not wanting brands to keyword stuff business names, because it so clearly appears to impact local pack rankings. What to do:
Customers may laugh, but certainly, they will not trust business names like these. If someone in your own company has been keyword stuffing, show them Google’s explicit guidelines regarding formatting names to match real-world business titles and edit the name to conform to the rules. Any other course risks losing customers and being reported by the public to Google for a violation.
If you suspect that a competitor’s high rankings are stemming, at least in part, from keyword stuffing, do a little research. Look at the name on their street signage in Google Street View. Take a photo in person if necessary. Look at the name on their website. Phone them to see how they answer the phone. Then, if you’re convinced that the guidelines are being broken, submit your evidence via the Business Redressal Complaint Form. There is no guarantee that Google will act on your report, but this is the main vehicle for seeking action.
If your listing has been hijacked and maliciously edited, I recommend starting by reporting the full details at the Google My Business Help Community. Ask the volunteers there to give you current steps for resolving the hijack. You can’t ever be totally safe from the possibility of hijacking, but do be sure you’ve claimed any GMB listing for your company. Some local SEOs also recommend making occasional null edits (hitting the submit button in your GMB dashboard without changing any of the listing data) as this activity might make your listing less prone to third-party edits.
Review roguery
I like to give business owners the benefit of the doubt for making a judgment call error when they review themselves. But it’s always embarrassing to see any company misusing reviews to sing their own praises, and particularly so when their family members point this out in public:

More often, the business is the victim of review shenanigans. Google’s forum is continuously emitting distress signals from business owners who feel they’ve received one or more negative reviews from people they’ve never had a transaction with, as illustrated by this interchange:
And, the hard truth is that some entities have made a business model out of competitive sabotage via negative reviews. The problem has become large enough to make televised news.
What to do:
Falsifying reviews is illegal and has resulted in multi-million-dollar FTC fines in the United States. If you own or market local businesses, adhere to the Consumer Review Fairness Act and read the guidelines of any online platform on which you are receiving or writing reviews. Don’t review your own business or have past or present staff do so. Don’t review your competitors. Don’t incentivize reviews in any way, or post reviews on behalf of anyone else. Don’t hire any marketing firm or use any review management software that violates guidelines.
If your business becomes the subject of a review spam attack, screenshot and document all of the fake reviews, then flag them from inside of your Google My Business dashboard via the three little dots associated with each review. After three days, contact Google through their online chat option to follow up.
Google will make the ultimate decision on whether to remove the reviews and they are quite strict about what they view as negative vs. fake. If Google doesn’t remove the reviews, I would suggest two things. First, I would report the reviews to ReviewFraud and then, if the sentiment in the reviews is damaging enough, you might need to contact an attorney to see if further steps can be taken to prompt removal.

Fatuous photos
“I cannot for the life of me believe that you would allow a normal user to upload photos to my business listing without my approval and you do not give THE OWNER OF THE PAGE the ability to delete them!” - from Google’s Forum.
The above quote typifies the frustration business owners feel regarding yet another element of their Google listing that is open to public contributions. Brands often think of these listings as belonging to them, when, in fact, they belong to Google. Images are considered to be a strong factor in CTR, so it’s particularly aggravating when user-uploaded photos either misrepresent or embarrass the business.
I’ve been shown cases in which people have mysteriously uploaded images that have nothing to do with a business. More often, though, I see photos like the following which highlight some aspect of the company that has disgusted or angered customers:

Claire Carlisle recently documented Google’s penchant for pointing European users to Google Image Search instead of the photo section of listings. There is some reason to suspect this may happen in the US in the future, which could result in all kinds of strange optics popping up in association with brands.
What to do:
If an image accurately represents a lack of proper management at a location of your business, fix the issue or such imagery will continue to surface. You can then try flagging the photo, identifying yourself as the business owner, and explaining what you’ve done to correct the problem. However, unless the photo violates Google’s guidelines, it’s unlikely to be removed. Barring removal, be sure you are adding as many high-quality photos as possible to your listing to lessen the impact of a single image.
If the image violates Google’s guidelines, click on the name of the person who uploaded it and copy their profile URL. Then, report the user via the Google My Business Help Community, requesting that the profile be removed for failing to adhere to the guidelines.

Few businesses can afford to let multiple customers down and no business can survive customers sensing they’ve been tricked!
The good news is that the fix for this is quite simple. Google’s tutorial for setting special hours if foolproof, and it will only take you a few minutes each year to ensure your profile displays correct information every day of the year. And, of course, update your website to reflect this data, too.

Any other course risks losing customers and being reported by the public to Google for a violation.
If you suspect that a competitor’s high rankings are stemming, at least in part, from keyword stuffing, do a little research. Look at the name on their street signage in Google Street View. Take a photo in person if necessary. Look at the name on their website. Phone them to see how they answer the phone. Then, if you’re convinced that the guidelines are being broken, submit your evidence via the Business Redressal Complaint Form. There is no guarantee that Google will act on your report, but this is the main vehicle for seeking action.
If your listing has been hijacked and maliciously edited, I recommend starting by reporting the full details at the Google My Business Help Community. Ask the volunteers there to give you current steps for resolving the hijack. You can’t ever be totally safe from the possibility of hijacking, but do be sure you’ve claimed any GMB listing for your company. Some local SEOs also recommend making occasional null edits (hitting the submit button in your GMB dashboard without changing any of the listing data) as this activity might make your listing less prone to third-party edits.
Review roguery
I like to give business owners the benefit of the doubt for making a judgment call error when they review themselves. But it’s always embarrassing to see any company misusing reviews to sing their own praises, and particularly so when their family members point this out in public:

More often, the business is the victim of review shenanigans. Google’s forum is continuously emitting distress signals from business owners who feel they’ve received one or more negative reviews from people they’ve never had a transaction with, as illustrated by this interchange:
And, the hard truth is that some entities have made a business model out of competitive sabotage via negative reviews. The problem has become large enough to make televised news.
What to do:
Falsifying reviews is illegal and has resulted in multi-million-dollar FTC fines in the United States. If you own or market local businesses, adhere to the Consumer Review Fairness Act and read the guidelines of any online platform on which you are receiving or writing reviews. Don’t review your own business or have past or present staff do so. Don’t review your competitors. Don’t incentivize reviews in any way, or post reviews on behalf of anyone else. Don’t hire any marketing firm or use any review management software that violates guidelines.
If your business becomes the subject of a review spam attack, screenshot and document all of the fake reviews, then flag them from inside of your Google My Business dashboard via the three little dots associated with each review. After three days, contact Google through their online chat option to follow up.
Google will make the ultimate decision on whether to remove the reviews and they are quite strict about what they view as negative vs. fake. If Google doesn’t remove the reviews, I would suggest two things. First, I would report the reviews to ReviewFraud and then, if the sentiment in the reviews is damaging enough, you might need to contact an attorney to see if further steps can be taken to prompt removal.

Fatuous photos
“I cannot for the life of me believe that you would allow a normal user to upload photos to my business listing without my approval and you do not give THE OWNER OF THE PAGE the ability to delete them!” - from Google’s Forum.
The above quote typifies the frustration business owners feel regarding yet another element of their Google listing that is open to public contributions. Brands often think of these listings as belonging to them, when, in fact, they belong to Google. Images are considered to be a strong factor in CTR, so it’s particularly aggravating when user-uploaded photos either misrepresent or embarrass the business.
I’ve been shown cases in which people have mysteriously uploaded images that have nothing to do with a business. More often, though, I see photos like the following which highlight some aspect of the company that has disgusted or angered customers:
When something goes wrong with photos, like a bug on Google’s end, failure to size images correctly, or possibly the owner removing images that were previously there, this public warning symbol is definitely not a good look:

Claire Carlisle recently documented Google’s penchant for pointing European users to Google Image Search instead of the photo section of listings. There is some reason to suspect this may happen in the US in the future, which could result in all kinds of strange optics popping up in association with brands.
What to do:
If an image accurately represents a lack of proper management at a location of your business, fix the issue or such imagery will continue to surface. You can then try flagging the photo, identifying yourself as the business owner, and explaining what you’ve done to correct the problem. However, unless the photo violates Google’s guidelines, it’s unlikely to be removed. Barring removal, be sure you are adding as many high-quality photos as possible to your listing to lessen the impact of a single image.
If the image violates Google’s guidelines, click on the name of the person who uploaded it and copy their profile URL. Then, report the user via the Google My Business Help Community, requesting that the profile be removed for failing to adhere to the guidelines.
If you see something like the warning symbol appearing instead of a photo you’ve tried to upload, check the above forum for reports of known bugs. You can always remove your own photos via the trash can symbol in your Google My Business dashboard.
Hours of inconvenience

A consistent theme in these damaging reviews is that customers are checking multiple places on the web to be sure an establishment is open on a given day. We’ve all come to depend on websites and business listings to provide this information, and it’s truly inconvenient when these assets mislead us. Few businesses can afford to let multiple customers down and no business can survive customers sensing they’ve been tricked!
The good news is that the fix for this is quite simple. Google’s tutorial for setting special hours if foolproof, and it will only take you a few minutes each year to ensure your profile displays correct information every day of the year. And, of course, update your website to reflect this data, too.
There are no dumb questions, but…
Sorry to say it, but there are actually some answers that are far from smart. I’ve saved for last the most extreme example of real-world businesses becoming the butt of online jokes.
Google Q&A is beginning to have all the earmarks of an experiment gone astray, and if you’re not actively managing this feature of the Google Business Profile, chances are good that your customers are experiencing a bizarre substitute for customer service.

A quick study of the public responses to real consumer questions shows the state of total confusion surrounding this GBP feature. For example, one customer has mistaken it for a “discussion board” not associated with the business; this is incorrect. Others are proclaiming that they aren’t associated with the brand and don’t want to “lead people”, despite responding. Still, others are steering potential patrons away from the brand to a competitor (yikes!).
But, predominantly, we have wags replying to questions without having any information to share. “IDK” and “Why don’t you call them yourself?” typify this ridiculous behavior. Why would anyone waste time doing this, you might ask? We can put it down to two things: the old adage about idle hands and Google’s still-new program of perks for participation. Note how many of the individuals in our collage have achieved Local Guide status for giving out these useless answers. Raise your hands if you’re not impressed.
But now, put your hands back on your keyboard for a little work. Unlike the review medium in which guidelines forbid you being an initiator, Google Questions & Answers invites businesses to post and answer their own FAQs. All you have to do is spend a few minutes populating this area of the Google Business Profile with common questions and responses. Then monitor this feature on an ongoing basis so that customers are receiving a helpful, authoritative response to questions. Q&A is a lead-generating asset and conversions are totally within your control.
Adopting a local watchdog
All five cases of Google Business Profile hijinx share the requirement of vigilance for prevention and mitigation. Manually checking on multiple features week after week is a serious drain on local business owners’ limited time. Businesses with multiple locations are especially prone to becoming distracted from or worn out by the effort.
Putting a devoted watchdog between pranksters, spammers, and your vital Google listings is the smartest thing you can do to maintain them as an influential source of truth about your brand.
