There’s probably something to be said about the fact that Jayce’s signature resembles the pie (π) sign, a mathematical symbol that famously goes on infinitely; Jayce’s own legacy extending infinitely past the Man Of Progress symbol he was, even after death.

Susie & the Drums in Deltarune's Chapter 4 OST
The choice of putting drums in the Sanctuary background music for the Deltarune Chapter 4 OST is weird. It's a church area, and drums (specifically a drum kit) are not exactly instruments that are typically played during mass.
But you know who is associated with drums in Deltarune? Susie!
Tumblr media
Drums are rhythmic instruments and (in a way) decide the pace that the music plays at. And knowing the time signature is a very important skill if you're playing the drums! But if you look at the time signatures for the background music of the three church dark worlds:
Dark Sanctuary: A steady 6/8 time signature throughout the song. (musescore) The drums have a bit of reverb and you're more likely to notice the melody over the drums - there are parts where the drums feel more "muted" relative to other instruments.
The Second Sanctuary: The song goes from 9/8, 12/8, to 10/8, and 12/8, and back to 10/8 (musescore). The drums are clearer than in Dark Sanctuary, the reverb is less pronounced.
The Third Sanctuary: Particularly infamous for its time signature fuckery, it hops from 9/8, 11/8, 4/8, then back to 11/8, and 10/8 ! then to 11/8, and too many more for me to list here (musescore). The rhythm is the most interesting thing in this song, and the drums call attention to that. It's almost like the drummer is having "fun" with it, varying the pace! (As an aside, this song kind of reminds me of the Ganondorf battle theme from Ocarina of Time...)
Considering how drums are associated to Susie, these 3 tracks signify Susie finding her own footing in the prophecy. She is breaking convention (and most likely the prophecy) and setting the pace for how things will be done.
Susie is marching to the beat of her own drum, and encouraging others (Kris, Ralsei) to follow likewise. This is the most beautiful bit of characterization through music I've ever seen for any character associated with drums!

A thought I have pretty often but don’t have the brain to properly express is the fact that between the Girlymatsu’s and the regular matsu’s the only one who doesn’t share her signature color with her counter part is Osoko.
Tumblr media
Like obviously it’s in the back of her intro card, and it’s Osoko so we know red is supposed to be her color.
She wears red in all the added merch and bonus content too. Off the top of my head there’s the Jyushimatsu dolphin episode, Tabimatsu, and hesokuri wars. All of which she wears red unless it’s a special set or she changes back into her work uniform.
Tumblr media
It could really be nothing, but it always kind of threw me off. All the other girls get their signature color, why not Osoko?
Even if it’s in a subtle way they could’ve done it. Like with the pine pattern on ichiko’s dress or Jyshiko’s bright blonde hair and colored contacts.
Osoko’s makeup is more pink than it is red. So where’d her red go? I had a few thoughts on this so I’m gonna spit some shit.
1. Shes trying to blend in
In the episode she’s introduced in, she gives this big talk about how woman are supposed to be. Being independent, knowing when not to let other men pay for you, being young and approachable. She says all this but so easily snaps the next second. My only guess for why she snaps so quick is because she does that with friends.
With her friends Osoko has no problems being angry, making faces, yelling at them, etc. We don’t know how she is outside of her friend group, but from the way she describes herself it doesn’t seem like she acts the same around everyone.
Osoko is a working woman, she has to be all those things to survive the work place. Bold, but not too bold. Red is a very bold color.
Red lipstick is mature, but it also might hint at promiscuity for some older folk and people who like to talk shit. Meanwhile pink is a more cuter and toned down version of red, that’s why Osoko wears it as makeup instead. She wants to come off as light and fun and cute when that’s not who she really is.
2. She wants to seem younger
It’s brought up a couple times and the show kind of hints at it, but Osoko and Karako are supposed to be the older so believe.
They dress more mature and scold the others for being immature, and the comment jyushiko makes about them being old and unable to have children looks like it seriously pisses them off.
Osoko talks about youth a lot in her first episode, especially about how it makes her seem cuter. You’d think it would be a Todoko thing, but Osoko mentions it more than once when she talks. Meaning being cute and young (compared to her older male coworkers) instead of being headstrong or beautiful, is important to her.
Tumblr media
Karako wears red heals and red lipstick but I think that’s just her style. She is bold, her personality is loud and just like how Karamatsu likes wearing shades and leather jackets to seem like a cool guy, Karako probably wears red to show maturity and maybe even a bit of sensuality.
Meanwhile Osoko, who doesn’t like the fact that she’s getting older, wears a more youthful color. Being pink. Even putting it on her cheeks to add to the youthful look.
3. Identity crisis
Pretty much everyone knows about Osomatsu’s identity issues. He very obviously has no personality of his own and it shows- mainly in the fact that while everyone has their own casual outfits that show off their identity, Osomatsu still wears the family symbol on his plain red hoodie.
I don’t think the girlymatsu’s are supposed to be sisters, they call each other friends and have never been mentioned to be related. They are all very visually distinct from each other, and their personalities are on full display all the time in just how they dress.
There would be no need for the girlymatsu’s to wear distinct colors because there would be no need to differentiate them from each other.
The show does it anyway, obviously, because fuck it why not it’s cute- but again, Osoko doesn’t.
It could be because, like Osomatsu, Osoko has no idea who she truly is. She pours herself into this older sister persona to lure men in (her words), but she’s loud and crude and judgmental when separated from that.
Just like how Osomatsu makes his family his identity, I think Osoko makes work her identity. She wears her work clothes out and about, even when she’s on vacation. In season 2 when she dresses out of her wet suit she’s in her uniform again- and we know nothing about her personal life, not even in the small tidbits we get from the other characters.
I truly think identity issues is something every version of Osomatsu is faced with. Even if it’s not that, idk I just think it’s interesting. If you made it this far, kiss kiss.
Live laugh love Osoko.

Minthara is honorary Southeast Asian Auntie in my eyes
Shortest one in the group and always stands on boxes/stairs for better view
The way she roasts people by simply stating her observations in a deadpan manner
Will protect if outsiders bully you, but that doesn't mean her roasts end though
Calls people names in her mother's tongue so they don't understand
Will do and say everything else under the sun to show that she loves you, except saying "I love you" (because she was never taught such phrase growing up)
Bothered by the sun, checks a few times a day for blemishes
Complains food outside of home is bland (probably along the line of "This soup is so bland I can wash the bowls with it.")
Insults others by comparing them to dogs
Stands like an immobile log (🧍‍♀️) when hugged, if you're lucky you get an awkward pat on the back
Will happily instigate violence by snitching
Simply does NOT like the little rascals/urchins running around, especially near her
Indirectly, but in a forward way, proposes to someone after first date by asking them to go to her hometown with her
Microdosing partner with purple shrimp paste poison, otherwise they won't survive the trip in her hometown
Will pet and spoil the dog/cat when nobody is looking
Raised by a tiger mom
Has an impeccable garden full of questionable plants
You do NOT want to be on the receiving end of her flying chancla/flip flop
Bonus: loves Ulaver wine (drow green wine: alcoholic beverage fermented with vegetation and fungus of the Underdark). And here's the Vietnamese fermented green mushroom wine (rượu nấm lim xanh)

Storm is written in 7/8 time which is very uncommon time signature, same with most uneven time signatures (exceptions being ¾ and 9/8 off the top of my head) there are two other songs I know of that are in 7/8 (meet me inside Hamilton and the temple Jesus Christ Superstar) which may have inspired Jorge in writing in 7/8.
I say this as Lin Manuel Miranda has stated when he wrote meet me inside, he thought of 7/8 he had the temple as an example of how to write in 7/8 time and Jorge has been a part of a production of Jesus Christ Superstar. And if you are a part of the musical thearte scene, it is hard to avoid Hamilton and in early demos you can see that Jorge was heavily influenced by Lin Manuel Miranda’s song style.
I am not the most well versed in Andrew Lloyd Webber, but I know he was an influence for Lin, so it is highly likely that he was an influence for Jorge as well. I am not saying that Jorge or Lin were copying anyone, but more pointing out their musical influences.
Anyone who writes music has their musical influences, if I were to write a song today, I would be very heavily influenced by Jorge’s and Lin’s song styles as they have written my favourite songs.
When I wrote music in the past, I would incorporate every pattern or instrument I enjoyed listening to the most as I wrote these songs for myself. (The only people who have heard these songs were my teachers and closest friends, I did not want to show my weird songs to anyone else)
Everyone in my class had their musical influences and you could hear it in their work. You could hear Bach, Debussy, Mozart, and many more influencing their work, as well as Sondheim, Rogers, and Webber.
There is so much more I want to say about the music itself. But this already quite long, and it would be better to break it into parts. Stick around for part 2…..or more.
