Hey everyone it seems there a malicious individual trying to hack the sims cc community again and fill it with malware you need to stay vigilant as a creator and a downloader so

i have some tips for both to stay safe while downloading:

1- sims cc file extension is always .Package never download anything that is .exe

2- do not auto unpack zip files and rar files into your mods folder directly, open each zip or rar individually check the file extensions and drag them to your mods folder one by one

3- the only mods that have a .ts4script extension are ones that affect gameplay or how the game works, understand that if you are downloading cas or bb items you shouldn't have a .ts4script file

4- if you are downloading gameplay mods that do have .ts4script make sure that A) the creator hasn't announced on their pages that its infected B) you are downloading from a link provided by the creator of the mods themselves not something off of google or a link you got sent and make sure dates of upload match dated of announcements

5- if the mod or cc creator has retired and hasn't posted for a while LOOK AT THE DATES OF THE UPLOAD if it has been "updated recently" after the creator has left the community its most likely re-uploaded by a hacker and infected

6- download mod gaurd by Twisted mexi and keep it updated and keep your windows defender or malware detector Program up to date and always running do not disable it

7- make sure everything you download comes from a direct link from the cc creator, in this day and age do not trust link shortners, adfly, linkverse, etc get the universal bypass extension and ublock extension to stay safe but genuinely NEVER CLICK ON THOSE no matter how much the creator reassures you its safe it. is. NOT.

8- this is more of a general saftey precaution but, create a system restore point weekly before you run the game with new mods that way if anything happens you could have a chance to restore your windows to an earlier date before you downloaded anything.

9- BACK UP YOUR SHIT im serious right now either weekly or monthly put your files somewhere safe like a usb a storage card a hard drive even an online cloud if you dont have any of the previous.

10- files you should back up are your media from games and media everything else, any mods, games saves, work files, passwords, saved bookmarks, any documents txt files word files pdfs, links you saved, brushes or actions for Photoshop if you have any, any digital bills or certificates if you have any, and keep a physical list of all programs you have installed and where you installed them from

11- turn on any 2 factor authentication and security measures for any account you have

12- google and firefox have the option to check your paswords and emails against any data leaks USE THIS FEATURE and change any leaked passwords

13- regularly check your logged in sessions to make sure all the logged in devices or computers are yours and log out any that aren't and any old devices or unused sessions do this for every website and app you have an account on if available

14- change your passwords often. I know this is a hassle i know its hard to come up with new passwords but changing your passwords every few months will help you against anything mention previously that wasn't detected.

15- and as a cc creator check your cc and the accounts you host cc on and its uplaod and update dates make sure nothing has been changed without your permission :(

16- generally try not to get swept up in the "i must get it" fever you do not need to "shop" for mods weekly or monthly you do not need to download everything by that one creator you do not need to download new cc everytime you want to make a sim, im guilty of this so i know how hard it is to resist but take a breath and think "do i want this or do i need it" before downloading.

These are prevention methods i cant claim they are 100% will prevent any hacking but its better to be safe than sorry and these do keep you safe so

These questions were asked by @memoirsofasim -- Thanks for asking me these questions/giving me these suggestions.

Originally I asked about what kind of videos I could maybe make on my Sims YouTube Channel, but I couldn't really wrap my mind around it in a way that the video wouldn't become confusing or drag on. So I decided to make a post about it instead. Anyway, here goes...

Note: I just wanted to mention these two things below for anyone who might worry about starting to write/story-tell, before I answered the questions. And also, this goes for any Sims Game not just the Sims 4.

Write Without Fear

Remember to "Write Without Fear". What I mean by that is to develop a story based off of an idea that is your own. You can for sure look for inspiration (more on what will follow in this post), but the point is to not feel as if you have to tell a story someone else is already telling or you have to tell the story in the same way someone else is telling -- or that you must modify what you're writing in order to please someone else in fear of judgement.

Write For Yourself

Remember to always "Write For Yourself" because at the end of the day, even if someone isn't reading along to your story, you're creating something that is satisfying some part of you. It could easily be something that you wish to read yourself, but can not find it in any medium (even outside of the Sims community) and so there's no where else to turn… except to yourself.

Question: How do I find plots for my stories?

Reality / Dreams

Reality: Everyone has access to this. Whether it's lively, depressing, or somewhere between -- reality is reality.

Dreams: Sometimes you just remember your dreams and even if you can't remember the entire thing, there's something that sticks out to you that makes you remember it long after the dream. It could be something about their physical features, something you might have remembered they said, or even the colors within your dreams.

Sims Jobs / Hobbies

Are your sims working a job that aligns with their greatest passions/hobbies or are they just working to pay their bills? It doesn't matter either way, but sometimes just knowing this small thing is enough to get you to think of what they would do in their spare time and who they would do them with. Would they become members in a club? Would they share their hobbies with their family members? Would they have any enemies that could possibly lead to competition?

Spend Time With Your Sims

I don't mean in CAS. I mean literally turn your game on and put them on Free Will -- and watch them. See what object they interact with first or which Sim in their household they interact with first. See how they respond to Sims that randomly knock on their door (welcome wagon and all that jazz). Notice their experiences -- what makes them happy, what bothers them, what makes them angry. Also take notice to their speech bubbles.

Send them out into the world. Have them interact with other Sims or just place them on a public/community lot and see who they start talking to first. From there -- take notice to the speech bubbles from both your Sim and the Sim they're talking to. Take notice to your Sims mood while in conversation (or even while they're alone).

Movies and TV -- Or Books

This one hits extremely close to my longest and on-going story because that's exactly where the main character came from -- a movie.

So much of my stories stem from some favorite character of mine or some favorite actor/actress of mine that play such and such a character in something from a million years ago or to the present day -- and everything literally in-between.

My thought when leaving them behind at the movies or after watching them in a movie at home is… how can I flesh this character out? How can I give them a better personality or extend their personality? How can I imagine what their lives are like outside of the worlds they were created in?

And there is how the story builds. One thing literally leads to another.

Consistency

If you write somewhere in a chapter that your Sim is crazy about grilled cheese sandwiches -- then that Sim is crazy about grilled cheese sandwiches. The only way they'll stop being in love with grilled cheese sandwiches is if they suddenly had something happen in their lives to make them change their opinions about it. Like they've aged up and gained the lactose intolerant trait. Now -- dairy will make your Sim terribly sick.

Remembering these little things makes your Sims differ from one another, but also allows you to flesh out their personalities and with doing that will open more opportunities.

This Sim may have loved cheese and not all dairy, but guess what? They can't have any dairy anymore. How are they going to survive? Well -- they'll have to change their lifestyle as far as what they choose to eat and with that will come the mental torment that they can't just go and eat cheese like they once used to be able to so now they're in a bad mood and they're terribly jealous of every Sim that can freely eat cheese as well as all the dairy they want…

And so they begin writing in their free time, to get all of their angry and saddened emotions down -- because it helps them with all of the mental stress.

And then they decide to publish their writings and suddenly -- the grill cheese loving Sim who wanted to open a Grill Cheese Shop is now an Award Winning Novelist instead.

Who will they meet along the way? Well -- they may very well fall in love with another Sim that may or may not be lactose intolerant. If they are they have a common ground and if they don't… there's going to be a lot of differences in food options between the two which will turn into food outings needing to be a place where there's both non-dairy and dairy items on the menu.

Make it make sense -- you know what I mean?

Consider Occult Plotlines/Characters

When it's occult stories the themes usually deal with magic and fantasy and what not so I literally just make up things out of nowhere and make them make sense because it's so easy to explain something in the name of magic or fantasy. I can add whatever I want to their lives and their houses and come up with reasons for it which then lead into storylines.

That witch down the street decided she didn't want to work a real job, so she used magic to make her dream house.

Seems like a quick-telling story, but if you start to think on it more you'll think about how she's maintaining her dream home. Clearly -- she's probably an entitled personality type and even lazy, but is she someone who wants to live alone in her dream house? Will she marry? Will she have caretakers to do the gardening and the cleaning… or will she just use magic to handle all of that because she rather be left all alone?

Question: How do you screencap for your story?

I usually know the plot before I take the screencaps, but sometimes I don't. Usually when I don't I end up taking a lot of screencaps that end up going nowhere but being deleted or they end up just as quick edits that I randomly post on my blog because the moment where I had a storyline or a new chapter I let completely pass me by (or it came out of nowhere because I turned my game on to just gameplay and suddenly everything started unfolding whether a Sim prompted me to create more chapters or because I just had something rush to me out of a moment of total imagination).

Still -- I try to remember that I have the ability to use words to continue the story just because I may not have a screencap available -- and that's okay, too.

🗺️ Geography & Region Logic

This is a long-ass masterpost where I break down how the worlds in my save connect culturally, regionally, and politically. It’s not about exact replicas, but resonance.

I’ve been obsessed with geography and history since elementary, and after years working in hospitality, medical tourism, and professional language interpretation, it was only natural I’d end up wanting my sim worlds to reflect real cultural friction, flow, and complexity.

Every EA world (as of 2025), from Newcrest to Nordhaven, is mapped here with a real-world logic: how people speak, how laws work, what histories get remembered, and how land is treated. Some TS3 worlds are referred where TS4 falls short in representing a certain culture or region. if you're a builder that focuses on clutter (but this goes for any object, really), just pick everything you want for the corresponding rooms as you go thru the categories & put it all in them as you go

How to set up the FUN party in the sims? 🎉

Questions to ask yourself

What is the event?

Who's invited?

Is there a theme?

Where is the party located?

What's the age of the sims?

Who is this party for?

Do I have to do any CC shopping for this event?

Do I need to download a mod for this party?

Gameplay Tips:

Take advantage of the seasons calendar to set up the event. Example: party spirit tradition, sims will do autonomous interactions that show they're feeling festive. Example: Give Gifts tradition, sims will give you gifts If you want sims not to work during the event, you can click for them to not go to work that day too

Set up VFX, if that's what your party needs [RVSN mod]

Create a menu for your sims, and prepare the food a day in advance

Consider sim's lifestyles. Is a sim a vegetarian, or lactose-intolerant? Are there any kids to give them pizza? Is there a junk food lifestyle sim you want to give them something greasy?

Buffet Table [use bb.moveobjects] to get more slots available

Set up Cannons in correct placement aligned with where you want your sims to celebrate

Have a recovered copy your save, if you don't want to go through the mess of cleaning/removing build mode objects. Not only that, but sometimes, you may need to film again. If you save before the party starts, you can keep replaying the party until you get the party you want (hope this makes sense)

The baby shower event from growing together, sims give the host gifts autonomously and sims celebrate properly when the cannon is fired

Set up cannons from growing together expansion pack, in a correct placement that is aligned with where you want your sims to celebrate accordingly

MWS wedding events are perfect for events you need sims to follow your instructions such as "dance" "gather around"

Steady seat is perfect for seating arrangements

Have a photoshoot area ready, if the party needs it, so you can pose your sims. I recommend custom pose shopping in advance, but after the fact isn't bad either; just don't delete the copy of your save until you've completed that.

Place gameplay objects you need for the party around the lot. Example: If it's a birthday party and there's space, have the pirate ship "rented". You know how parents add bouncy castles and stuff for events? Think of it like that.

When it comes to arranging the table, have your sim add the placemat from parenthood around the table. Sometimes, your sim may not be able to add the placement, you can go into build mode and move the placement to the one your sim couldn't and go back into live mode and have your sim do it all over again until every spot has a placemat. If you have better-build-buy mod, you can copy the debug object yourself and place it around.

When it comes to decorating and you are having issues with slots, I recommend OMSP. It is explained in my video at 28:18♥

If you're having a dinner party, have your sim "pick up serving" for drinks and food, your sim will place the food in their inventory and you can place it yourself around the table. Perfect example to see this is Joy of Life Legacy challenge when my sim had a Winterfest dinner party (33:26)*

Don't forget to add kiss of freshness lot modifier on your lot, so food doesn't expire

Place the food over the placemat, and have their drink to their right side.

Zero's drinking mod works like placemat where your sims can place drinks around the table. There's age appropriate drinks too like juices and sodas for child/teen sims.

The Sims 4 gallery contains rooms where there's food for your sims and if you didn't have time to cook. Miss_frogstar has a bunch of rooms for your sims that contain food. It's really detailed for you.

Have a serving table, if your party is meant to have a lot of guests and food. It takes the load off you, when you don't have to worry about table slots for larger events.

Create sims you can hire for events. Think of these sims like Nurse Joy from Pokémon. You can have this sim be a townie in all your saves. Cheat their skills and hire them for events/set their outfits.

Lock them doors LMAO! Sims love to misbehave and go everywhere, so it's easier to have them be in certain areas by locking the door of the rooms you don't want them to be in.

I also recommend saving the party decorated home in your gallery, so you can just place it again in the future and remix it to how you want it

Sometimes you got to combine different events to create the atmosphere you want in your game, so don't be too hard on yourself, if you feel like it's not going how you want. We all know parties in the sims isn't perfect at all

Screenshot tip!

So idk if I'm late to the game in figuring this out and ya'll knew this already BUT I wanted to share in case someone else can benefit from this tip!

Historically when I'm working on a scene and a character is overexposed, I mess around with light placement and decreasing the intensity of the lights. Sometimes I'd get it just right and other times I'd get it close enough and say "screw it"

While working on a scene for chapter 6 I tried something different. I changed the color of the light from white to grey. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE! It fixed the issue and didn't impact the overall brightness of the room. It makes total sense when you think about it and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of it sooner. I'm sure there's instances that it won't work but it's a great tool to have in your back pocket!

If you're using cooking mods like Srsly Sims' Complete Cooking Overhaul or Granny's Cookbook, update these afap. If you want to take your mods out before a patch or want to remove the cooking mods, raid the fridges and inventories of your sims and throw out all custom dishes. These dishes can cause the dreaded error code 111, which prevents you from loading into the affected households.

Sims... just stop being annoying!

the notifications, calls, pop up visits, and other things making the game unplayable/unenjoyable. Note, you will have to watch the calendar yourself if you wish to attend most events, but I prefer that.

I have a list of mods I use to make my game fun again, disabling these things without hurting gameplay. I listed the ones I use and love, but each modder has more options for things you can turn off that annoy the *@#& out of you. Finally, I can enjoy my game again.

Less frequent prom - now every two weeks!

Features Disabler - (I use "Main file" -because you must- and "Multipacks"

Stop High school event notifications- (turns them off altogether)

Sims4me- love of my life who I've never met, you can use the search feature to find these but I use their : "no enrollment and scholarship info" to get rid of the university enrollment pop up. "Neighborhood stories" -files "Romance Disabled" "Friendship Disabled" These turn off those calls asking if npcs should date or befriend other npcs.

How I take posed photos of my sims.

Download Ravasheen's ISO Love Photo Full Control camera at https://ravasheen.com/download/iso-love-photos-full-control-camera/

The camera can be found in the "Hobbies & Skills" section in build/buy mode and is named "Full Control Camera" for 200 Simoleons. You can also just search "camera" and you'll find it.

Once you have that you buy the tripod in game and place the camera on the tripod.

BOOM! Beautiful clear pics of your sims.

You'll find the pictures in the "Screenshots" folder in your Sims 4 folder. Some may look like the the flash went haywire...just a heads up. IDK how to avoid that as yet.

I didn't want the video to run on too long so I kept my favorite builds out of this video, but I tried to come up with build tips that I think may be useful for anyone that either already builds or someone who might want to start building.

I do build more community lots than houses, but it's a little mixture of both.

Watching YouTubers and Streamers, I've been surprised by the amount of TS4 Simmers that don't know that you don't need to click on your sim to reset them.

After all, if your sim is invisible and needs to be reset, how can you reset them if you have to click on them? You can't.

So for those that don't know, if you use the CTRL + Shirt + C to bring up the cheat box, and then type in resetsim firstname lastname and it will do the same as shift clicking to reset your sim.

If you're not sure what exactly I mean, if you're playing as Bella Goth, what you'd do is write exactly this in the cheat box:

resetsim bella goth

And it will work. You can also capitalize the first and last name, but it doesn't need to be for it to work. Also, you'll know if you wrote it wrong because the cheat box will tell you that it couldn't find a sim with that name. I hope this helps anyone who didn't know about this cheat.
