Pauper to Prince(ss) Challenge - TS4

I'm starting a new challenge today I'm calling the Pauper to Prince(ss) Challenge. It has D&D mechanics and lots of challenges that keep the game interesting. The end goal is to build a castle big enough for your whole party (whose members you'll find along the way).

The princesses of the castle give their parents a lot of grief sometimes, especially the elders, as Cassandra tries to find her daughters husbands. Luckily, Margaret is smitten with a nobleman and looks to be engaged soon. Later, Gerold and Daisy take advantage of a moment alone.

The royal family uses their new game room and visits the tavern.

 Katarina meets Trader Jacques while visiting the Meyers, and initially finds him crass and annoying, and not the kind of influence she wants for her son. They get off on the wrong foot, but when she sees him at the tavern shortly after, she decides to give him a chance and they spend a very passionate night together. However, Katarina leaves in the middle of the night. She doesn’t have time to get involved with a man again, she must stay focused on making sure that her son has a good life.

Katarina hasn’t actually left the kingdom. In fact, she’s staying with her friends, Thomas and Susana, close to the castle. They know she is with child, but they don’t know that it’s the king’s baby. They’ve promised to keep her secret, protect her and care for the child when it comes. Late one afternoon, they find Rebekah’s body in the forest nearby, dead from Scarlet Fever! Katarina left the castle just in time, it seems. 

King William distracts himself with his favorite pastime - a visit to the brothel.

Back at the castle, Cassian and Alaric both age up. The royals hear about Rebekah’s death and as the queen’s sickness seems to only get worse, the king decides that it’s imperative that they get a family portrait just in case she doesn’t make it. Soon after, Queen Matilda dies from Scarlet Fever and the heir, Cassian, develops Typhoid fever.

Life goes on at the Meyer farm. Isaiah’s son Elijah ages up into a very handsome teen. He’s too good-looking to be a peasant! Maybe he needs to make a noblewoman fall for him...

At the castle, Juanita entertains the family with singing and then later sits with Princess Bathilde as she writes her letters. Queen Daisy tells her husband she’s expecting again!

At the Meyer Farm, Ronald proposes to Anne. She accepts and makes plans to leave her position at the castle and move into a little cottage with her husband after their marriage.

Back at the Meyer homestead, the farm is lovely in the sunrise, and is getting more profitable every day! Isaiah is finally better after a long illness, and is enjoying being married again. His brother Ronald is still there, helping out. One day, after selling some produce, he goes into the tavern to have an ale, and the tavern owner died right in front of him. It wasn’t pleasant, but he did meet a young lady named Anne, a servant at the royal castle. They bonded over the death they witnessed, and he comforted her. He asked if he could see her again, and she said yes.

Shortly after Elijah is born, both his parents catch illnesses. His mother has both typhoid fever and tuberculosis! and his father has scarlet fever. Their daily tasks soon become too much for them, and Ronald comes to stay at the farm a while and help out. Thank the Watcher for family!

As for Gerold’s adoptive parents, the peasant couple the Meyers, they passed away leaving behind two young sons, Ronald and Isaiah. Ronald stays put in the hut, and Isaiah, intent on marrying the woman he loves, takes out a loan and procures a beautiful small farm. He has now moved up from peasant to...lower-class farmer? but still above peasant! However, making the loan payments will be tough. He marries Joan and they soon have a son, Elijah.

At her Debutante Ball, Margaret falls for and ultimately marries Lord Stanton. Things are good at the castle!

Hearing about the downfall of King Malcolm, Cassian visits the castle and Gerold welcomes his childhood friend (and half-brother) back with open arms. He acknowledges Cassian as the true heir and offers him the throne, but Cassian much prefers the life he has now. He does, however, allow Gerold to accept him back into the family, and to bestow on him and his children the title of Crown Royal. The royals hold a Royal Audience to allow all the people to meet the new King and Queen, and their toddler daughter, Bathilde.

Gerold and Daisy are beloved by the public. King Malcolm, on the other hand, constantly raises the taxes, and really angers the people when he publicly hits a woman who insulted him, and then has her executed by being burned alive, based on some trumped-up charges. His reputation is officially “Despised Tyrant.”

The castle hosts a gran feast for Sir Gerold and Lady Daisy’s wedding. Malcolm and Cassandra have a child together, a girl named Crystanta. The two couples fall into a routine of domestic bliss and Malcolm enjoys ruling a kingdom. But simply ruling won’t keep him happy for long.

Gerold and his lady-love Daisy steal a few moments to themselves in the castle. Cassandra marries Malcolm and he becomes the new king of Henford-on-Bagley. Gerold proposes to Daisy in front of the townspeople at the Royal Audience, and they are married promptly.
