I really do think looking at bad writing is one of the best ways to learn about writing in general, especially for beginners.

the thing is, writing in general is highly subjective- a good sentence will be good in different ways to different people, or not impress someone at all.

a bad sentence? most people can spot bad sentences easy, especially if it is presented to them as 'here's an example of a bad sentence, let's unpack why.'

bad writing can also be very funny, which I think is again often more engaging than 'here's a work of literary genius go analyze it'. Like here's some bad writing from lightlark3:

it's dumb as hell, but I think could foster a solid discussion when you ask 'why? what is the author intending to say? what about it makes it feel 'clunky'? How would you write the same idea?'

how good do we think shen yuan's english is? he complains about airplane's shitty chinglish, which could mean his own english is pretty good or it could just mean he knows airplane's english is terrible. my guess is that if shen yuan's family is rich, he probably received pretty thorough english lessons, so his english is pretty good, though he can read/write it much better than speak it because he took what he learned from his lessons and immediately used it to be a menace on english-speaking parts of the internet

If I'm being so honest and risking sounding like an idiot, I don't understand daylight savings time at all...... I don't know when it is. I don't know why it happens or why we still do it. I don't know why some US states (Arizona & Hawaii?) don't do it but the rest do. I don't know which time of the year we go forward vs backward. I don't remember if we get more or less sleep or more or less daylight. At best, I hear about it a few days before and make sure my other clocks match my phone at some point the day after. At worst, I just feel weird for a few days until someone brings it up and I'm like "ohhh that's why". The clock in my car has been one hour off since the last time the time changed (because I didnt remember/didn't care enough to change it) so for the last several months, I've just converted the time in my head to the correct hour. I left for work today and noticed that it's finally accurate again. I am not a stupid person, nor am I an ignorant person, and I'm generally pretty observant about most things, but I just can't seem to remember the specifics of daylights savings time and it doesn't really affect my life enough for me to care. I fear if I got caught in a time loop, it would take me a LONG time to even realize something is off.
