Sort of vent? idk what to put here but uh -Four I think the worst part about being a fictive is trying to talk to people who aren't a system about your trauma. Because you know they'll never understand fully what you went through, and you try so hard to disconnect from source, yet it feels like a painful jab in the back when you try. (Quick abuse ment. //) Hot take (and before I say this, source trauma is valid) but you cannot compare source trauma to irl trauma.

You can be traumatized from your source, yes, but if you got beat up in your source, you cannot compare it to the body getting beat up irl. You cannot say you experienced physical abuse if the body has not experienced physical abuse.

Again, can you be traumatized from your source? Yes. I know quite a few alters (including ones insys) who are and freak out over it. But you cannot claim to have experienced it if the body didn't, at the *very* least not in the same way.

yeah. Usually source trauma / memories can be based off of the systems actual trauma too, but if it isn't then it's wrong to say you experienced it. You can say you have source trauma but you shouldn't claim to have that trauma as a bodily experience. (If that makes sense)

The Weight of a Soul

I am. not a writer, even in the slightest. but i've been having a really rough day with source trauma and i thought that maybe writing everything out like a narrative might help me at least break out of the fixation on it after a second. So, i did write it out, and it's under the cut

Also please keep in mind that while i'm ok with reblogging and commenting on this, i'm an introject. i remember this like a memory, not like a story or like minecraft. This isn't fanfiction to me, it's something i feel like i've genuinely experienced. Thank you.

Minute knows how this is going to end. He has known, ever since the beginning. Since he went on the record, sticking to what he believed in the most: peace. On that day, he’d signed his own death certificate and he knew it. What he didn’t know, however, was that his closest friend would be the executioner. Obviously, ClownPierce wouldn’t have been too keen on the idea of a peaceful end, Minute wasn’t stupid enough to believe that, but maybe he’d been naive enough to think that just maybe everything would end with his impeachment. That had hurt enough as it had been, but this? This was a new pain. Grieving, loss, hopelessness- there were many words to put to it, but none quite summarized it. 

He stole a glance over his shoulder. Yes, Minute knew he was going to die, but he wasn’t going to just let Clownpierce have it. The Clown was gaining on him, and fast. That was precisely why Wemmbu had hired him for the job: he was beyond just an efficient killer. The steady rhythm of Minute’s feet hitting the ground picked up frantically. An arrow struck his armor. Every piece was becoming worn and less reliable as he suffered each blow. His helmet had completely shattered only a few moments ago. Reaching into his inventory, he clutched his last ender pearl and threw it as far as he possibly could. A final shot at escape. 

He didn’t want to stop. He couldn’t. His body begged for him too. Breathing stung like the various cuts he’d sustained through the fight. In that even, it was less of a fight and more of a pursuit. Finally, Minute teleported. He knew better than to stop now, so he fought against the pain settling into his bones and kept up his sprint. Most of his inventory had been exhausted. No shield, no ender pearls, no food, no help. His sword would be of no use, since he couldn’t stop long enough to deflect arrows, and his health was low enough that the fall damage alone would be too risky. An unmistakable fwoop sound came from just behind him, and within another second, his chestplate crumbled with another arrow. 

Minute wasn’t one to fear death. No, he never had before. At 20 hearts, usually you’re invincible. With Clownpierce as an ally on top of that? You effectively were. But neither was the case anymore. What a fool he really had been to trust someone with such a reputation. An even greater fool he was for thinking he was safe. His eyes burn with tears. He can’t even remember the last time he cried. It hurts. It hurts worse than any physical wound he’s got. The scars over his torso, the bleeding arrow wound making it all the more difficult to move. It hurts all the worse as his foot catches a  root and he’s sent toppling to the ground. All he can do is curl himself into a ball and weep. The bells on Clown’s hood jingle slightly, as though announcing his presence. Minute chokes out a sob and tries to force himself up, but the arrow in his back isn’t quite letting him get there. Clown takes another set of steps. It feels almost like he’s savoring the moment. His foot lands on his former friend’s tail, forcing out a cry of pain. 

Clown sighs, and pushes Minute onto his back with his foot, pushing it against his shoulder. Minute can hardly breathe, between the tears and pain, and he can’t see either. He tries to shield his torso with his hands, but he knows what comes next. Clown, without saying anything, pulls out his sword and forces it through Minute’s arm first, then continues, going all the way through his stomach. His mouth fills with blood, and within a few more moments, he finally dies. 

Once he’s certain the job is done, Clown crouches down and picks up the heart that’s left behind.

He thinks he will burn in hell, and desperately is trying to repent

This is his main reason he hates California

Has hit California and other LGBTQ people before unprovoked

He’ll have episodes where he has to be physically restrained from other states because if he sees you do something wrong, he will lash out

Alaska has major self esteem issues

He was quite literally sold off to another country because he was seen as useless

His land is constantly disrespected and so are his people

Same with Hawai’i, but she gets hostile

Has fought people before because of how many people from their states are being bad tourists

Georgia disowned Florida for being gay

He felt it was to painful for his little brother to willingly go to hell

Florida was a child during the civil war

He actively participated in the war

Was severely injured most

Each confederate state got branded with “TRAITOR” on their back

Gov made everyone else watch

as “An Example”

The states all used to be human

Became states by dying

Everyone except California died by accident/natural causes

California commited suicide

California and Nevada get together to take drugs, gamble, etc constantly

They’d both be dead if states could die

There is a small grave by the sea. I leave flowers there when I can get out of bed. They die quickly in the cold, but. I clear the snow away when it falls. You were always so warm and bright, I don’t want you to be cold. I couldn’t get your discs back- I left a music box there for you anyways. Maybe in the after you can play music again. Maybe you can make your own. Sometimes I can’t make it to the grave and I just. Fall in the snow and lie there. It’s okay, I’m used to the cold. I miss when i wasn’t.

Trauma holder + fictive culture is thinking I can't possibly be affected by body or source trauma until I realize wait no I feel like im nothing if not performing and being used for others' gain

So I just learned I can't hear a women screaming and crying in agony even if it's not real

I didn't realize I would have a Hysteria Trigger other than the obvious that most others would normally have, but apparently discovering this recently it just never dawned to me

I was just scrolling on TikTok as usual and someone was voice acting for this analog horror; The audio was inspired by a game I've watched the gameplay before a particular source trauma I remember later on (Worth mentioning cause I never had a reaction to it beforehand)

Going back to the present, hearing the screams led me to start thinking of that night, and how it sounded very similar to her

I didn't realize I was in distress until I noticed warm tears running down my eyes and I was holding my breath

I felt like sharing that

I know source traumas are often very hard to talk about for a lot of folks, so I hope this help others feel they aren't stupid for feeling distress or grief when something reminds them of a past memory or a source trauma that they haven't fully processed yet

After all, you are reexperiencing your worst moments, so take it easy on yourself

Quick it's 10pm post about how you still miss your source friends even tho its been almost 4 whole years and you will ever not miss the game nights and sporadic hangouts you experienced with them and truthfully speaking with yourself there will always be a missing piece within you knowing you'll never see them again and you have frequent dreams of just Existing next to them sometimes because of how much the loss of them has impacted you

Introjects can have different types of source trauma. It isn't always "i remember being attacked and/or killed in my source universe! " It can be the character was abused, had another traumatic event, or the source had a storyline where one of the other characters was abused, attacked, traumatized or died. Source trauma can be seeing or reading something in your source that's disturbing (especially if it reminds you of your irl trauma.)
