This is Bogo! He was 50% off at the pet store because he’d been there a long time in his cup and looked sick.

I decided he wasn’t gonna live in a cup anymore (because no fish deserves that, especially for a prolonged time like he’d been there) and took him home to give him a better place to live. Look how well he’s colored up, in the right light you can see the blue in his scales! When I first got him, he was hardly colorful at all - just black with a touch of yellow on his tail. Now he’s got a wonderful little tank with some shrimp and snail friends. He’s also far less timid, always swimming to the front when I go into my office and even swims up to my finger to investigate me.

I thought of going with something fancy like that, but in the end, I just called it Space Betta.

I need to start taking pictures of my bettas!! I have... NINE now. So here is the red base and gold metallic pair! The female has way too much gold coverage, but I'll hopefully be able to select against that if I choose to breed these.

(Like I literally chose the male because he had poor metallic coverage on his head, which is a PLUS because I don't want my fish going blind! But then the random girl sent with him has full coverage. So. Lol I guess. We'll fix that in post.)

I mean, I may not even end up pairing these together or at all. After seeing the fish in person now, there are choices to make!

I still haven't dug my DSLR out of storage, but I am hoping these phone pics in better light suffice??

Hi there. I just wanted to introduce one of my beloved Betta fish to you.

I rescued the little guy from a pet market. He was so underfed and skinny, he barely had the strength to swim 😭

I set up a quarantine tank and immediately began offering him live food, like Tubifex. And he ate! I was so happy.

A few weeks later however he had a huge setback. He stopped eating and although he'd always been on the skinny side, he started to loose more and more weight.

Turned out the poor guy had a bad case of worms which he got infected with at the pet market. I immediately raced of and bought him medicine.

For some days things were looking really bad, but the he began to recover.

Now he's living his best life in his personal 25 litres fish tank and is getting stronger every day.

Because of his striking, bright blue eyes and his fighter nature (and because I absolutely love the character) I decided to name him John "Soap" MacTavish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I do have more rescue Bettas (and other fish), so if you'd like to see more of them, go ahead and tell me 😊
